The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

What an easy, simple, wholesome song!
We will never see an era like this again.
Absolutely!!

No never. Enjoy the memories and the music though.
Because we have lost our innocence
Isn't that true about every era throughout history?
Nancy a 60s Icon✨
“Stand up there Big Nancy”
I wish the “lalalala” part was included in the recorded version, sounds trippy and goes perfectly with the tune!
💝
I was 13 when this song was a hit. Nancy Sinatra was a big early crush, no doubt, with that cute face and those ever-present Go-Go boots!
Been waiting patiently for this one as "Sugar Town" was Nancy's second biggest solo hit selling over a million copies and it is pure gold. I highly recommend locating the 45 of this song as it has a fierce mix that really makes your speakers dance too.
👍👍😁
I have a copy and you're right --- sounds fabulous.
@@joey_bonin Hard to keep unscratched.
This was our shoot-up song, it perfectly describes being on the nod. This and Petulia Clarke's 'Downtown'.
My favorite Nancy Sinatra song 🤍
I was 17.... went on a blind date the night before this aired.... we were together for 2 1/2 years.... this song was just hitting the charts... I was truly in sugar town..
Fabulous Performance... love the choreographing. The style of dress is so simple, but perfect. Love those white boots... signature of the 60's /70's. Thank you for sharing! 💖
The dancing was adorable. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ 😁😁😁😁😁
MAGNIFIQUE ..LONGUE VIE À TOI NANCY.💘💋💋🌷🌷🌷❤👄👄❤
Nancy Sinatra was drop dead gorgeous. A total knockout and legs to die for
amen
I think the term "stunning " is sometimes over-used but Nancy certainly was a "stunner" back in the day .
Simply lovely, and such a nice voice for pop music...those were the days.
Absolutely!!!!!
I love Nancy she is an icon and a legend and all her songs are fabulous!
I also see what a sweet, wonderful and classy lady she has turned out to be!
Beautiful, and beautiful voice !!!!!!
Awsum
I was a child during the 60's.Its just not explainable! What a wild ride!
A fine example of easy listening pop.
I had never seen this performance before.
I think 'Sugar Town' was also part of a 1967 TV special ('Movin' With Nancy').
Yes this is the clip that many of us have seen. It’s great!
She is fabulous! 😁😁💙💙
Nancy Sinatra such a crush of mine and so beautiful Thanks.
She is so beautiful and love her singing
Such a lovely feel good song, love it.
It is a lovely song and I always loved the guitar work in it...but Lee Hazlewood actually wrote it about LSD. He said so.
@@TwoWeekCowboyTo each is own, but I always thought of it as a laid back, easy going song with a relaxing melody and care free lyrics describing life in a small town like “Mayberry”, North Carolina 🤠📺❤ or my childhood hometown of Lafayette, Louisiana ( 1956-1963 ) 👦🏻❤️👍
Love listening to this incredible talented Lady. Incredible voice.
Always loved Nancy 💕
In awe of your Dad too!!
My favorite song from Nancy. Thanks for posting.
Nice to hear this different version. Love the relaxed, lazy choreography too. Thanks for sharing this.
I don't see how this version or the original recorded version are different? To me they are he same except for one being LIVE and the other Recorded
by Nancy and those great studio Musicians. " ₮ⱧɆ ₩ⱤɆ₵₭ł₦₲ ₵ⱤɆ₩"
A legend like her daddy...a lady like her mom.
Those Dancers,,,Wow!!

Oh my soul, thank you for posting this. I was about six and remembered the
Words!!! Love the outfit and white gogo boots. Priceless.
Go go boots just come above the ankle
Absolutely fabulous
I remember that song my favorite by her is These Boots Are Made For Walking
It's kinda smooth & groovie.
Nancy dancin, & steppin side ta side like that.
The melody jingle really grabs.
Nancy's vocal draws in the ear.
Love this nancy sinatra legend
Love this song!
This song makes me want some white gogo boots 🥰
Go Go Go For It!
I love you Nancy
Such a great sassy /sexy voice .Perfect for this song . & of course she always looked great too.
Outstanding go-go era outfit worn by Nancy.
Sweet melody and performance.
Nancy kinda looks like Vanna White here. Choreography here is outstanding and the women are so beautiful. I wonder how her mother felt being called "big nancy"
Fantastic song , fantastic clothes !
this is almost forgoteen but it was big and so nice to see it done by Nancy here. Real-llly Big Show!
I love those background dancers, too.
What an amazing performer and style icon Nancy was. I have some similar white boots. I really wish people still dressed like they did in the 60s ✨
Boy did Tommy Sands mess up! Wow she's beautiful and great voice. sweetheart of the 60's.
Love this song and also "Something Stupid".
Boots are made for walking too it was her biggest hit
@@donnalombardo1135 Actually I would find it unlikely that somebody would know the two songs I mentioned and not know that she did "These Boots Are Made For Walking" but thanks for the info anyway.
@@TheGlssr60 I just meant I liked that song sorry for the misunderstanding
@@donnalombardo1135 It's all good. :)

@2:30 Nancy Barbato Sinatra died at 101 7/13/2018, Frank Sinatra's high school sweetheart, muse and mother of Frank Sinatra's 3 children, his first of 4 wives. (RIP)..
Really cute n sweet this video, love it🧁
When a daughter is named after her mother, we don’t call the daughter Junior. Big Nancy had 3 children - Little Nancy, Frank Jr, and Tina Sinatra.
Love this double-entendre song about those LSD-laden sugar cubes popular Middle America in the 60s
She looks gorgeous
It always amazed me how they could put together a weekly show like this and have such great choreography: Sonny and Cher, Donny and Marie, and others all had great dancing. It would take most productions months of practice to put together what these shows did in a couple of days.
People had to learn to be entertainers back in the day and were multitalented which helped them become quick learners of their dance moves.
This is nice to finally see - I only know Nancy's recording of it, it's pretty cool to hear her do it live -
Those dance moves scream Gwen Verdon to me. Love it!
I would love to see Nancy & Lee singing Summerwne....thank you.
She is a great singer
The SHAG hairdo…rockin’ it 🤘🤘🤘
Another one many of us have been waiting for is Lee Hazelwood and Nancy Sinatras appearance with "Summer Wine". Please retrieve this from your archives, it would make those of us still in Covid lockdown very happy!!
It’s been posted in color with Nancy in a beautiful yellow pantsuit!
Not on this official site it hasnt - forget the illegal timecoded poor quality rubbish
There is also Some velvet morning my friend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
this is so deep and colorful lol
Decades ago I had my favorite LP covers framed on my wall at work & "Sugar" was one of those covers. I would never get away with displaying it in an office setting nowadays.
One of my favorite album covers back in my high-school years. I had the album.
Nancy sent me a 5 by 7 of herself and years later met her and she said indeed she did sign that and i still have it
Back when music was MUSIC & television was ENTERTAINMENT!!!
lol..this is music?
@@jadezee6316 umm..yeah.

@Katy Lloyd wish I could go back I was 4 yrs old hate this world
Nancy Sinatra was part of the tradition of popular music that our parents were okay with.
You mean quality "popular" music rather than today's talent -lite noises ?
I mean the non-rock tradition. @@mjones4083
I love her💐💜
Never knew this song until I started looking up She & Him songs. I love this! Of course, it's a great song for Zooey's voice, but I love Nancy Sinatra's voice on this too! And of course she's got her boots - the one song I do know her from is the song about the boots. ;-)
Nancy the GREAT !! Living in the unfortunately huge +grandiose shadow of ol’ what’s his eye color!! Your’e the SHUG babe…shine on.
This is my favorite Nancy Sinatra song; thank you so much for uploading it! It's such a happy, carefree and joyful song and I love it.
I'm curious as to how you'd argue on Nancy's behalf, Tom, to those who say she never had any raw talent and only entered the limelight because of her dad. I thought she had a nice voice.
@@judahslion5611 I'm not the best one to ask in this case (although I appreciate you asking all the same), as I'm only a casual fan of Nancy's. I have nothing against her, but she's not in my list of top favorite singers in the same way that someone like Mary Hopkin is. I think she likely did benefit from her connections, although she has a pleasant-enough voice. I do believe she is a good singer, as there are many famous offspring who never made it in the same way she did. As you say, she has a nice voice and I like a few of her songs, although I'm not familiar with her entire catalogue the way I am singers I'm very passionate about. To summarize, I consider her a pleasing singer who also seems like a nice person from what I know of her.
Its mine too I also like the one she did with her father "something stupid"
@@donnalombardo1135 That's a really good one too!

I can't even take my eyes off of her dress and her go go boots, isn't she just a wonderful singer of the 1960s
I Love You Nancy Sinatra ❤️
I LOVE ❤️
great stuff !
'Stand up there, big Nancy'. Sounds like a John Byner impression.
"Big Nancy" was probably shorter than her daughter.
@@MostlyBrenda she lived to 100.....
@@jadezee6316 uh... okay🙄
Byner should have accused Ed of ripping off his act😅😅😅
I'm real sucker for this song. I've always liked it despite its silliness. Nancy was sure on Ed Sullivan a lot and it looks like Ed treated Nancy as his own daughter.
Nancy Barbato at the end lived for 101 years. She only passed away in 2018. That's a good sign for longevity in that family.
Actually, LSD often came in the form of sugar cubes. It's a hallucinogenic song! Big Nancy never knew 😀
@@MostlyBrenda That totally makes sense. "Sugartown" definitely sounds like a place where those who are high would congregate.
I admire nancy barbato for having put up with such an arrogant and unfaithful man as sinatra.
@@nandofigueira2005 I admire the fact that she never did a "tell all" book. I'm think she got a ton of offers, particularly after Frank died, but she never talked, rarely gave interviews and just kept things private. Old school!
@@MostlyBrenda Give us your sources. Otherwise, stop spreading bogus theories.
A very nice show
Now whatever happened to all those lovely stage decorations 😍🌸 if they're in storage somewhere I'll take them 🙋
Summer wine!!!!! Aysome song!!!
Love that song!!! Nancy and Lee really rocked and had the rhythm on that one !
It's a trip that most people don't this song is about dropping acid.😊
A simpler time, not a care in the world.
My favorite Nancy Sinatra song❤❤❤❤
Love Nancy a dreamboat for me from long ago. She is up there with the best. Thank you for entertainment over many performances. JET.
Love Nancy 🌼
@ABALLAMS3 Nancy Barbato ( AKA Sinatra) She lived to be 101 years old. WOW!!! Some longevity!!! Personally, I liked Nancy Sinatra Jr's song, These Boots Are Made for Walking. What about you?
You want 'Easy Listening'?...This song is the epitome of that genre' in 1966. And it was a huge AM Radio hit.
Such happy memories for me I wish I still had my white boots and my red dress but I still got my single record how life goes so guickley I am now in my 70s now
I wonder how many viewers of the Ed Sullivan Show in 1966 knew what this song was really about?
Nice boots 👍
A nice, sweet, kind, modest person.
Nancy Sinatra was So much Like other people's Children that too get Radio play & recognized, so as too be popular with All segments of the industry. She went with the Flow n then Took the So Called Horse 🐴🐎 by the Rein's and made Her Own Career very Popular & Successful, in very tumultuous Time's. Thank You ❤️😊❤️ She was 🧨🧨🧨& Class Combined. TKS.

600- love it !!
yes. this is her best song
“Big Nancy” is shooting daggers at Ed. 😂
Frank, Sr. called his wife "Big Nancy"...
Hit the US top 40 on 12/3/1966 and reached #5 in just three weeks. What a hit, hm?? . The flip side, "Summer Wine" a duet with Lee Hazlewood was also a moderate hit in spring, 1967.
Dang this is good!!!! Even better than the studio version. I'm sure Frank was gushing with pride over Nancy's success.
Happy days for sure.
