I was just thinking how female singers today come out half naked and perform sexual dances and to top it of as if it was not enough, sing extremely vulgar lyrics, that disrespect women 90% of the time.

i am an englishman that after all this time still does not know the italian language but when watching at 13yr old fell in love with this song and am thankful of hearing it again on youtube.
I was about 5 years old when I heard this and even tho I don’t speak Italian, I was able to remember some of the lines. So fun that TH-cam can bring back ancient memories.

Toute ma famille, mes parents, mes oncles, ma grand-mère, grand-père, était réunie devant la télé ce soir là. Il y avait même mon arrière-grand-mère qui avait 75 ans. Et moi j’en avais 15. Nous avons tous adoré cette chanson. Quand je regarde cette séquence, toute ma famille est présente en moi, je la ressens tout entière, avec ses émotions et je pleure de joie. She's very recognizable, charming, and elegant in her singing, a stunning lady too, and they wrote beautiful songs for her. I was 22 when I saw this performance on the BBC's coverage of Eurovision. Being Welsh, I could not understand the language but fell in love with the song and the singer. It brought me out in goosebumps then and still does now 59 years later but now I also shed tears of joy when I hear it!. The song and the singer, Gigliola Cinquetti are of the very highest caliber. After all these years, I say a big THANK YOU!

И тогда она запомнилась, хотя и заняла третье место. Пипо Баудо долго с ней беседовал, не отпускал, гораздо дольше, чем с другими участниками. Совсем недавно узнал, что они в молодости играли в одном спектакле, когда им было лет по 20 с небольшим. И наверное он в неё был тайно влюблен. Был ролик, когда они опять встретились на конкурсе в начале 70-х, и он также долго держал её за руку и много говорил. Но она в конце 70-х вышла замуж за другого. Так что не повезло Пипо.

I am old enough to remember having watched this, live, at the time. A time when all entrants voted for the song/singer and not the politicised 'contest' that it has become. I stopped watching many years ago - ah, those halcyon, innocent, days of yesteryear!
Yes. Those old interviews really highlight how modest most musicians were! Yes there was Rolling Stones and perhaps the new breed of rockers who presented as being rebels etc., but definitely only the very few were like that those days. Most artists were polite like good house guests :). Keep in mind, even the Beatles were clean cut and dressed in suits and ties in their early days !

The tone and pitch are phenomenal. When you think how inferior sound systems were 60 years ago compared to today, she’s amazing. Remember Sandie Shaw, Mary Hopkins, Clodagh Rogers and Cliff Richards from the 60s & 70s but that’s it. i am an englishman that after all this time still does not know the italian language but when watching at 13yr old fell in love with this song and am thankful of hearing it again on youtube.

I was 22 when I saw this performance on the BBC's coverage of Eurovision. Being Welsh, I could not understand the language but fell in love with the song and the singer. It brought me out in goosebumps then and still does now 59 years later but now I also shed tears of joy when I hear it!. The song and the singer, Gigliola Cinquetti are of the very highest caliber. After all these years, I say a big THANK YOU!

Совсем недавно узнал, что они в молодости играли в одном спектакле, когда им было лет по 20 с небольшим. И наверное он в неё был тайно влюблен. Был ролик, когда они опять встретились на конкурсе в начале 70-х, и он также долго держал её за руку и много говорил. Но она в конце 70-х вышла замуж за другого. Так что не повезло Пипо.

I am still moved to tears to see this interpretation again at Eurovision; it is the only singer who was recalled by the public who was not mistaken. She received thunderous applause and never before or after 1964 was this seen again; this song so well sung by a wonderful 16-year-old singer. This song is immortal! I was barely 11 years old in 66 but we were all happy in front of the TV, never song deserved more to win than this one. I no longer watch Eurovision, which has become nonsense.

Yes there was Rolling Stones and perhaps the new breed of rockers who presented as being rebels etc., but definitely only the very few were like that those days. I was also 10 in 1964, but I was in Kodiak Island, Alaska, & that year will always live in my memory as the year of the Good Friday Earthquake. Don't remember this song at all! But what a lovely voice, and I love how simple and sweet she looks.

The tone and pitch are phenomenal. When you think how inferior sound systems were 60 years ago compared to today, she’s amazing. Remember Sandie Shaw, Mary Hopkins, Clodagh Rogers and Cliff Richards from the 60s & 70s but that’s it. I'm not a Eurovision fan it’s far too political and there’s now a Eurovision sound, so I’ve no idea why I clicked on this. But boy! I'm glad I did.
