The battery life is indeed the most understated reason for getting the 14 Pro Max. I’ve been using Pro Max for the past few iPhones. But for 14, I decided to get the 14 Pro. Loved it, until I found that the battery wasn’t enough for me especially on vacation when the screen is operating at high brightness in outdoor conditions. The phone always dies on me mid day. After 6 months, I sold the 14 Pro and switched back to 14 Pro Max.

This was my dilemma before when choosing between the 13 Pro vs the 13 Pro Max. I liked the look and weight of the Pro but there is something with the Pro Max that was telling me to get it. The bigger screen and the bigger battery. After getting the Pro Max, I really enjoyed it till today and have not regret it at all. Its heavy but the battery and screen outweighs the weight of it.

I have the smaller iPhone 13 Pro, and I absolutely 100% don’t regret it. I love the smaller size and it’s so much more comfortable to hold and type on. I always plug in my phone in my car so battery life isn’t a huge deal for me. And I can comfortably type on the smaller screen. You’re just like my brother. He absolutely HATES big phones. That’s why he went with the regular pro, while my dad and I went with the pro max. And yes! The pro max is definitely a lot more heavier than the pro. And carrying it around does feel a bit weird. You can just feel the weight difference. But the reason my dad and I went with the pro max was mainly because of the battery. The phone lasts up to 2 days before I need to charge it again. So that’s the pro for the max. But yeah! Since he went with the pro, he has to charge his phone like every single day. While my dad and I only need to charge ours every 2 days. So yeah! You get what you pay for

It’s basically just battery life and big screen for content vs portability and comfortability (weight and one handed use). Whatever you value more will be your decision. If the battery life was the same I’d get the Pro, I don’t care about content on phones that much, but it’s not so I got the max. Ending a full day of work, gym, hanging out with friends, watching TH-cam and Netflix on my commute and having 20% left from 8am to 10pm. The bigger screen is better for content but #1 plus is the battery life. I hate carrying chargers and battery banks

My initial reaction was “meh, whatever” but over time, the number of things that pop up there and help you out are great. It displays important GPS info (I drive a TON for my job so I noticed that immediately), it has distinct animations for various Bluetooth devices, it takes you right back to the app it’s currently “servicing” when you tap on it, it spreads way out for momentary, important stuff like face id and all that. It’s a really interesting concept. The next thing I’d like to see is some level of customization for it.

Only reason would be screen real-estate, and battery. The Pro Max is too big and heavy. And I miss the days when phones where made out of plastic. amore durable and lighter. It’s funny because after owning both across various generations, I find that although the Max has the bigger battery it only lasts slightly longer for my usage.
For example if I charge my phone around 6 pm I’m charging the max around 6:20/30 which negates the point of getting a larger phone for me.
I got big hands and long fingers but for some reason the pro max phones are just uncomfortable to hold especially when compared to competitor phones like say the S23 ultra.

It’s funny seeing different people’s takes on this. I used an iPad Mini 2 in place of a phone in high school. Now my iPhone XR, which has the same screen size as the 14 but a body size halfway between the pro/pro max due to bezels, feels small to me. Oh, I got used to it and can certainly appreciate how much better it is one-handed and how much more easily it can fit into my pockets - but, truth be told, if iPad Mini 6 could be used as a phone without having another phone and two cellular plans, I would upgrade from my XR to the current Mini, because I miss having a “phone” that big.
Instead, I’m planning on buying a 15 Pro Max this year. It’s supposed to have record-breaking thin bezels and so a 6.7 inch display won’t be much bigger than the body of my 6.1-inch XR, but the extra screen real estate from being 10% wider and taller, and having a much smaller notch, should be more like what I miss.
