We went full time 5 months ago, selling our 5 bd/3 bth home. I made a spreadsheet of every piece of furniture with links, what we paid and our asking price. If the new owners took it all, they got another 15% off. They bought it all. Got this idea from another friend.
My new favorite TH-cam channel, right now our plan is to hit the road at the end of 2025, early 2026. We have so much stuff to get rid of, married 41 years, thanks for the great advice.
Great Info. Had a similar experience when both my parents died within 3 months of each other. Thought the kids would want a ton of stuff…..Nope. However I knew the girls where like me when they pulled out their phone and looked at the value of the old Pyrex bowls.. We kept the expensive ones…Ha!!!!!
Oh my gosh, you guys nailed it with the time it takes and the emotional drain it takes to downsize. It’s taken us years to get ready for hitting the road this May. It truly takes time. Sometimes you can only do it when your in the “mood”. Hearing you guys talk about your downsizing experience mirrored ours to a “T”…😊
We’ve been thinking about going full time for quite a while now. However, we have kids that’s the only reason I’m hesitant. Love your channel guys. We got a Flying Cloud! Safe travels..

Thank you for the "Simplify" book recommendation. Already read it! I grew up having to move every couple years because of my dad's job. My mom was a pro at keeping things minimal. I've followed her teaching, but there is still too much stuff! Really evaluating everything now as we wait for our Airstream. Our kids are off our payroll now, so we're ready to explore. I saw this quote this morning and thought maybe you guys would appreciate is as well - "You can't give your life more time, so give the time you have left more life" Keep sharing your journey!
I find the old electronic stuff is hardest to get rid of. I still have my Commodore 64 in a box. Office Depot has a recycling box for electronics, they charge so much per box, it gets recycled.
Great video I know exactly what you mean I've been rving full-time for about 5 years now and the only thing that I could think of that people would constantly tell me is downsize it may be extremely tough and take a while but it is healthy in the long run and even though I have a 40 ft fifth wheel RV I still act like I live in a 20-footer and yes like you said about the trophies and stuff like that I used to be into car shows lowrider bicycle shows and stuff like that and I built a whole lot of bikes and one a whole lot of trophies that were pretty huge and I realized really fast that they're not going in the RV because they're going to take up way too much space and of course I don't plan on paying for a storage unit so like you I took pictures and inventoried everything that I had that I was going to donate or trash probably the only thing I have a big collection of is Christmas and holiday decor because it runs in the family LOL blame it on Clark Griswold
Thanks for the tips! We are 11 months from my husband’s retirement and our Airstream should be ready Feb/March? We have a lot of stuff!! But each holiday that has come and gone, we sorted and gave kids what they wanted to keep. Also, been scanning old photos and uploading to Shutterfly, gave the kids the password so they have access to the photos. (Also saved on a external drive) still have lots to do, but thanks! This was helpful!!
Not joke, we just listed our homestead here in BC Canada Selling everything we can, it is a massive undertaking. It is hard to downsize and purge. Absolutely exhausting, I know it will be worth it in the end.
Just started fulltiming two months ago. I have a 25ft travel trailer, two dogs and a new puppy. I am still downsizing. Friends and family keep giving me more stuff they think I need. It's so frustrating. I try and get rid of one box every other day. My storage room is cleaned out, so no more storage room.
Wow! Good for you! Getting rid of a storage facility is a definite money saver. Congratulations on going full time it’s a great lifestyle full of adventure.
I am in the getting rid of stuff stage now. I have been working through it slowly for the last two years. As time goes by it does feel liberating to not have loads of stuff. Great video I follow Joshua Becker too he has some great content for living a simpler life. Also his views on consumerism really struck a chord with myself. And finally....A cassette what??? LOL! I was born in the 80's so my mum always had a car full of these cassette thingy's. Great video and thank you for sharing your experience. I do have one question...... What was your first day and night like full-timing. Did it feel weird? How easy was it to get into the rhythm of your new life? Sorry that was a few questions.
Dean great question(s). I love the “cassette thing’s” comment. So to answer your question, prior to going full-time we were already rv’ing about 2 years so it was not really new to us. But, when we did finally go full-time, the only reality that hit us was we didn’t have a place to go back to. You know, just in case something’s goes wrong or you have a major break down. The good news is our kids were supportive of our decision and all three of them had an extra bedroom in their houses so in the back of our mind we knew there was a place to go if we had to, and that eases the mind a little. As far as getting into the rhythm of it all, we loved it. It was what we were shooting for and we saw and did so much it was exciting and fun.
"Things that he couldn't part with... YET". 😂 You guys are sooo cute!! 😊
