  • Hello fellow travelers! In this video we do things a little different. We finally tell you a little bit about ourselves and we share with you the process we went through when deciding to buy our Airstream. But, we first show you our first RV which was a used Jayco class C. We totally renovated it and traveled with it about 2 years. It taught us a lot about Rv's and helped us decide on what we really wanted in a rig.
Thanks for watching. We really appreciate you all!

Good to hear your story. My wife and I also took the 20 and out from a South Florida agency. We’re also an anomaly where she became a police officer in the same department as me after we were already married. 30 years married now but with no children. We did the pop up to hybrid to Airstream route. Love your channel and been following since we first ordered our Flying Cloud.

You guys are awesome! We have a Classic 30 and love it. We part time in ours. Just found your channel and look forward to seeing more. Oh…. Also retired, twice…. Old navy jet pilot plus second career supporting law enforcement as a civilian division commander. Loved my jobs! We named our trailer Roadrunner, after one of my squadrons…. The Roadrunners! Lol! See you on the road.

Congratulations Both of you. I can't wait to retire next year as I am getting the 33' Classic Airstream after my retirement. Thank you for your input and very informative since your former class C and Lance. Take care and God bless.

Nice Story, we lived on Armstrong Ct. and saw you guys frequently in our old neighborhood. We are not sure your connection to Campanello but we were OG’s in the hood, bought new in 2001, raised our family, then sold August of 21. We just picked up our new truck, we pick up our fifth wheel in Jan, and then we begin our full time travels. We are both newly retired and want to enjoy travels at our pace all over the country. We moved to SD to domicile there, but have big connections in CA, AZ, and WA. We used to drive a white VW GTI and said hi once in the neighborhood and complimented your nice rig. Anyhow, small world….enjoy your travels, setup, and family. See you on the road!

Love you guys! Interesting stories, we are the same age, I was a singer in a band in 1985-1986. And I have said before how much your gray hair is stunning……after I said that I thought, “maybe she colors it” so thank you for the fun facts! I am still in the planning stages. Airstream is my dream! We are a couple years out before we buy anything. I really do want to be full time eventually. My husband will retire in about 5 years. I am an RN, and May do travel nursing. My hubby is older by 5 years lol!!Oh and thanks for your service. First responders are my heroes

Nice to hear your story! They say that your first rv is the one you learn about what you really want in an rv and seems like that is what happened with you. Glad you settled with the Airstream. I've been full timing in my Airstream for about two years and could not be happier.
Btw...I'm also from the Folsom area and we used to go party at a club called C-Street North. Lots of local bands played there...sound familiar?

Hi Randy, I don’t know the club. We did most of our local stuff in S.F. and north Bay Area and that was a long time ago. Now I just play to relieve stress. Lol. Thanks for the comment.

We bought a 44 foot 5th wheel and have been full timing for 6 months. I’m a wreck on travel days. My husband and the dually do a fantastic job. I would love to swap this for an Airstream Flying Cloud 30 FB office but my husband needs convincing. Any advice? Keep it clean, people.

Wife and I fully retired in early 2020. We bought a new Airstream 25RB and pulled it with our 2019 Chevy Silverado High Country with the max tow package. With the weight distribution hitch, it towed fine. That was until I went to the CAT scales and I discovered I was over 500 lbs. over my truck’s payload weight due to the 25 Foot Airstream having over a 1100 lbs. of hitch weight. I adjusted by unloading the heavier totes from the bed of my truck and placing them inside the Airstream. I placed them all over the axle to be safe. That got me to within 100 lbs. of the limit.
This past fall we did our first 3-month trip. It was then that we both realized we needed more room. We really like the layout of the 30 Foot Classic our good friends had recently bought. While we were thinking about buying the 30-footer, I decided to ordered a new Ram 3500 Dually with a 50-gallon tank. I grew sick of having to stop at gas stations so often.
The other issue was worrying about payload and I know this is the last truck I will be buying. I decided to ensure it was big enough to pull anything we wanted going forward. Our new truck should be in sometime in January and our 2022 Airstream Classic will be delivered in the March/April timeframe. We are really looking forward traveling around the country with this new setup. We love traveling and we also like having our home to go to as well. We are blessed to be able to easily afford both in our retirement.
Oh, my wife and I meet in High School as well, so I understand what you are talking about when it comes to your relationship. We hope to see you on the road at some point. Stay safe!

Hey there, 29 + 3 part time in the business. Just started this journey 7 months ago and we are staying close for the holidays.
By the way, nice view of the river! Not stalking that's just how I found you.

I have been a boater for 30 years and full time live aboard for 6 years (with a few months in my Florida condo)……I have sailed across oceans, Bahamas, Caribbean, etc but on my list is to see our beautiful country. I always tell people to go small, go now. Everyone is one blood test away from their life changing (not for the good).

I am wanting the simplicity of living full-time in an Airstream trailer as a retired divorced woman with 3 little Dachshunds, but I'm not sure I could become comfortable towing the Classic(s) which I believe are the only models with the Alde heating system? Like you, I graduated from tiny house looking to travel trailer looking once I got serious about living more minimally. I have family in Texas as well as Colorado and New Mexico so I need both to keep my home warm or cool full-time for my furry girls as I travel to visit them. I'm encouraged that you're living full-time, too, but do you travel TO preferred weather, or can your Airstream stay heated for more than 24 hrs below freezing? Or, conversely, can it also stay cool in 100+ degree heat?

    • @alwaysenroute8811
      @alwaysenroute8811  2 ปีที่แล้ว

Good question Debora. We try not to travel to any extreme weather. But sometimes, we have no choice to stay out of the heat. We did travel with two mini Dachshunds, who have both passed away. So in the summer or in hotter weather, we would use generators to keep the Airstream cool when we weren’t plugged in to shore power. We have never stayed in freezing weather and we don't foresee doing so. But if we did, and we didn’t have shore power, we have a Little Buddy Heater. They work pretty good. But you could also use your furnace, but it uses a lot of propane. Good luck!

@@alwaysenroute8811 Thank you for your honesty!! I sincerely appreciate being given the truth. Everywhere I would travel to see friends or family has both very hot weather for extended periods as well as below freezing weather for what can be extended periods (now, even in South Texas!), so I'm having to rethink this one.
