Hi Strobepro, the proper way to mount a Beauty Dish or any closed modifier is place it on the floor and mount the strobe head to the modifier speed ring. You will never break a modelling lamp or flash tube if you do it this way. Once the flash head is secured to the modifier, then raise the entire assembly up and mount it on your stand. To remove the modifier, take the strobe head off the stand, place it on the floor face down and press the release button on the head, rotate it to unlock the lugs on the speed ring and lift it away from the modifier.
I agree although I would just add that you need to get a good grip on the speed ring. I open a vent on soft boxes and hold the speed ring and then turn the light to release it.
waooo it was really one of the best video to understand the world of the Godox 300. also extra thanks for the great explanation step by step. just great and explained very calmly we are waiting for more learn videos please.
It's great that it goes down to 1/32, and that modeling lamp turn-off is a nice touch. And now....it's on the wish list! Great video, as always. (And thank you for continuing to support Pentax. Yes, we're still around!)
Just bought one here in UK. Ive used elinchrom and other higher end studio strobes, and for the money, this is amazing value for its feature set. Only down side for me is power range doesn’t go below 1/32, so have to adjust to a sub 100 iso or increase f-stop. Not ideal but again for the price point, its worth it for an extra light for a group kit. Works well with Godox Pro X controller. Great walk through. Thanks 🙏🏼
I use the godox ms300 for studio photoshoots on my channel. I love the light and price point but wish it had a bit more dynamic range in its power setting 1/32 being its lowest power setting. Nice video
I own this unit you can't go 9pm with this . live in the Caribbean the only issue I have is that it's 110 volts but other than this fantastic product . I will get a second unit
Hi Zed, Sorry for the late reply. Colours stayed within the advertized range in our tests. Additionally, there was no notable magenta or green correction required (only small single-digit shifts when we eyedropper a grey card in Lightroom).
Thank You 🙏 so much for the tutorial video. My X2T-N works perfectly with both of my Godox V860III flashes. I’m having trouble getting the Godox strobe light MS300 communicating with the X2T-N, although all the settings are correct. Both device and the strobe light are on the same channel 1 and group A. Does anyone out there have encountered the same issue and what the fix is? Many Thanks 🙏
Bonjour je connecte le câble sync mais aucun flash ne se fait lors de la prise de vue avec un autre flash elinchrom ca fonctionne pouvez vous me dire d’où vient le problème?
Thanks for the review. Question here: I see you can’t lock the umbrella stick marking unusable in a vertical position when you place it above your subject. Is that correct?
Correct. If you want a 'shower light', you need to use something else than an umbrella (use the bowens mount). There are lots to use, not only big softboxes do existe ;)
What STEP value do I choose in my X2T trigger? 1/256 0.1 vs 1/256 (0.3) vs 1/128 0.3 vs 1/128 (0.1) vs 3.0 (0.1) vs 2.0 (0.1) ??? Don't know what to choose and WHY. Can someone please explain? THANK YOU!
Hi @rpaquin1977, Godox's AD lineup of strobes can all reach 1/256 power now, but there was a time when 1/128 was the more common lowest power setting. You can select 1/128 as the minimum setting on the controller if you don't want to have extraneous power settings that your strobes aren't capable of using. In the case of the MS300 (which has a 1/32 minimum), neither of these settings will be very helpful. Just keep in mind that the strobe will bottom out at 1/32 if you select any power setting below that. The second number (in brackets) is your precision setting. You can adjust in either third stops (0.3) or tenth stops (0.1). Adjusting in tenth stops allows you to be very precise, but it is a bit more cumbersome since there is a lot more scrolling involved when you want to make larger changes. Hope that helps!
Hi Amy, A few suggestions for you: 1. Can you see the channel displayed on your MS300? It is possible to toggle the radio on and off by pressing both GR/CH and S1/S2 simultaneously. The group will still be displayed when the radio is off, but the channel will disappear. 2. Is an ID enabled on your X2T? You can find this in the menu, and it should be set to "OFF" when working with the MS300 since it does not support that feature. 3. Are you quite close to your strobe? If you are within 1m, you can experience spotty triggering. This can be remedied by finding the "DIST" setting in the X2T's menu and setting it to 0-30m instead of 1-100m. Let us know if none of those troubleshooting suggestions hit the mark.
I have just bought a kit which includes three lights etc. The hardest thing is mounting the rings on to the strobe head. It is SOOOO hard to move and twist it. Any ideas?
When mounting a softbox, it's best to grab it from behind so that you cah have a bit more control to get the Bowens rings in place. Most softboxes will have an access flap in the back that will allow you to grip them easily when doing this.
This light is designed for mains power, and there is no dedicated battery option for it. That said, there are plenty of general use battery packs with inverters that are capable of running multiple corded strobes at a time.
Hi, I was just wondering if anyone could help. My modeling lamp won't work no matter what mode I have it in. The bulb seems to be fine, the flash still works but for whatever reason the lamp itself won't turn on. Can anyone help?
I’m having the same issue. Tried pushing the umbrella through the hole but can’t get it past the clip. Should I keep trying? Afraid I will break something 😢 it’s a brand new light! Any thoughts? Also got a 7” reflector from B&H and the hole doesn’t line up correctly when reflector is mounted 😢
Hi Windi, This model does not support HSS I'm afraid. If you're looking to bring your ambient down, you'll have to use a neutral density filter on your lens.
Hi AE. The flash tube is 5600 +/- 200K, but the tungsten modelling lamp is around 3200K. This is why it's a good idea to knock out your ambient exposure in camera, or set the modelling light to turn off during the exposure.

how can i change power output control reading from the (5-10) to(1/32 - 1/1) ?
Love the way you explained every single thing about it, I really needed an explanation for dummies, thanks man, you're the best
Thanks Jessy, short and very clear explantion about this model, I appreciate the lesson. Thanks again.
Thanks for watching.
Exactly what I was looking for! Thank you!

Thank you for this great review. This set is definitely on my wishlist.

So at 1/32 what aperture is giving you at 100iso for a head shot?
@@tonymonaghan5993 hmm cant remember, was a while ago - but it was too stopped down for the look i was after. Maybe 1-2 stops off target f5.6 or f8

Thanks for the review.
Hi thanks for the information, I want to know the tech requirements for triggering two of this strobes with one Canon 580 EX2 speedlite at once.
Hello Sir.
Did you notice if colors seemed right for the advertised temperature or if there was a color cast to correct?
Thanks a lot.

Please make sure you don't have ID enabled on the controller. This is likely your issue.

Hi! thanks for the informative video! One question: is it convection cooled or fan cooled? :)
It is fan cooled.
My hole on the reflector is not in the right position to feed the umbrella through to the umbrella mount. Is this a fault?
Hi Bev,
Was your strobe and reflector purchased from us? You'll need the AD-R6 reflector to go with that strobe.

Hi Tony,
It will vary dramatically depending on the distance of the light to your subject and the modifier used.
GOOD.Thank you

why it wouldn’t work?
Hi Amy,
A few suggestions for you:

is it possible to have a white light coming out of the lamp or is it only yellow?

can we use it with battery?
or its only runs on power?

Will these fit upright in your traveller bag?
They will! In fact, you can quite comfortably fit up to 3 heads with their protective covers installed and the power cords in the remaining space.
Спасибо! Великолепный обзор.
At 3:50 you say you’re using a 7ft stand, wow, you must be at least 9ft tall 😁
7 feet is the maximum! Haha
My umbrella doesnt fit the holder its so weird the light holder is blocked by a metalic thingy (not the screw) anyone has the same issue?
That is the retaining clip. You need to push it through there. If by chance you've damaged it you can remove it and just use the screw.
I’m having the same issue. Tried pushing the umbrella through the hole but can’t get it past the clip. Should I keep trying? Afraid I will break something 😢 it’s a brand new light! Any thoughts? Also got a 7” reflector from B&H and the hole doesn’t line up correctly when reflector is mounted 😢
already HSS? how to activate the HSS?
Hi Windi,
This model does not support HSS I'm afraid. If you're looking to bring your ambient down, you'll have to use a neutral density filter on your lens.
Can I do high speed sync?
Hi Saumadip,
Not with this model, unfortunately. If you're looking for a plugin strobe with HSS, start at the QT400 II.
Although its modeling lamp has 5500 kelvin , why does its color look yellow ?
Hi AE. The flash tube is 5600 +/- 200K, but the tungsten modelling lamp is around 3200K. This is why it's a good idea to knock out your ambient exposure in camera, or set the modelling light to turn off during the exposure.

Is it 110V or 220V?
We are based in Canada, so we carry the 110 VAC model.

Elitist photographers will never buy this. Why? Because it's cheap. To them it gives cheap results. If it's not $500+ it's not worth their time 🤣🤣🤣
