    • @hypop
      @hypop  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Go for a larger octagon softbox if you have space, like the 120cm octagon softbox. If you're mostly indoors then the SK400II is a great starting point moving from speedlites, otherwise if you're after a light that can be used outdoors too take a look at the Godox AD300Pro / Godox AD400Pro.

    Hi, I currently have 3 different Yongnuo Speedlight Flashes with remote triggers. I'm realizing that they do not produce enough power in some situation, and they don't offer strobes. I see you have similar Speedlights, and many more options. I'm trying to figure out which would be best for me. I want them to be powerful, portable (battery powered, or ideally either battery or AC when I'm in my home studio) and easily attach a variety of modifiers. I can't quite figure out the differences between all the product lines, AD, QT, SK, AR, etc. I have Nikon cameras, and trying to figure out what option I should invest in

    • @hypop
      @hypop  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It would be based mostly on Lux output for continuous lighting rather than watts for flash. Depending on how well your camera does in low light situations then we find that 2x 300W lights such as the Godox VL300 work well for a standard 3x3m space.

  • @photo-markus
    @photo-markus 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I’m mainly a landscape photographer so I rarely need flash for that, but occasionally I shoot cultural events both video and stills. For that I would need such a flash that also has a modeling light usable also for video. Which one do you recommend? The AD 400 pro might be too strong(maybe 300 or 200 W would be enough)...and the AD 400 pro fan noise could be a problem for video even with a directional mic...

    • @vikmanphotography7984
      @vikmanphotography7984 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tbh, you'd be better suited by the new FV200 that Godox introduced if an all-in-one solution is what you need. Modeling lights really aren't well suited for video work- they're somewhat low power, hot, and their color temp is quite warm.

    • @vikmanphotography7984
      @vikmanphotography7984 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      PS- the fans on the AD series aren't a problem sound wise. You have to be flashing them near constantly for the fans to even turn on.
      BUT... The modeling lights on the AD series are almost useless for video work. Their power output ranges from ~9w to ~25w whereas even the models shown in this video had mostly 150w modeling lights.
      Get the tools designed for the job you're looking for and best of luck.

    May I know which is better QT600 II or FV 200
    Also I would like to know if the modeling light in the QT600II is strong enough to give a proper help.
    I am currently using the AD Pro model and they are very week in modeling lights, they are not helping me to decide especially when shooting Glossy products.

    • @hypop
      @hypop  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      They're 2 different flashes as the QT600IIM is a traditional fresnel flash whereas the FV200 is an LED flash. If you'll be dabbling in a bit of video the FV200 is a good versatile light that will work for stills and videos. The downside is it's nowhere near the same output as the QT600IIM. The QT600IIM is strictly a studio flash.

    Hi! thanks for this video! full of info. I have a doubt about qualitys and series, I have the QTII series (600w) but I feel that I dont use all functions to much like super speed shots to freeze action or the mask function that includes. Im series thinking to sell it and downgrade to the new DPIII series, the difference that I will note between these 2 series lights accord to my use (because never use in HSS mode or mask mode) its basically the stops (1/64 vs 1/128) the weight and size, the flash dumping when change power and the little advantage in recycle time (0.9 sec vs 1.0 sec almost nothing) so well I want to know if you recomend this flash against the QT600II or if you can tell me another difference that I will note? I use it for portrait and fashion work. I dont shoot fast motion shots, even never use it the multi mode LOL! well hope you can resolve my doubt. Thanks!

    • @hypop

      They are all subtle differences:
      1. How much output do you need? Not all flashes are available in higher output versopms
      2. Flash duration
      3. Recycle time
      4. Build quality

      You may want to take a look at hybrid LED lights such as the Godox FV150 / FV200 that function as a continuous light for video and flash for photography. The LED flash doesn't compare to a standard xenon flash's output but with HSS it may suit your type of photography.

    • @vikmanphotography7984
      @vikmanphotography7984 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@photo-markus PS- the 'HSS' of the FV series kinda sucks. The flash duration of the FVs is actually longer than 1/200s at full power, meaning you can't freeze particularly fast action and that effective power output decreases rapidly as your shutter speed increases.
      They're still probably your best option for an all-in-one unit but you should know the limitations going in.

  • @heiko4297
    @heiko4297 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    This Video helped me a lot, thank you very much. One question: If there is no HSS explicitly noted, but flash-duration is up to 1/2000... does that mean, that my shutterspeed can be up to 1/2000?

    • @pogolas
      @pogolas 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That value, is for flash duration, not slash synchronization. That means, the flash will fire at maximum of 1/2000 speed. We need that to freeze motion. Because, if you shoot in a dark studio, even with a high shutter speed, what matters, and what gonna freeze the object, is the flash duration. The higher power percentage you use (1/1,1/2 for example), the longer flash duration you get (bad for freezing motion).
      The AD600 unit, has 1/10.000sec flash duration, at minimal power. And only 1/200 at maximum.

    Im going to do food photography on restaurants. And i think the MS300 is a more than good option. But i do have a question Is it compatible with the 80x80 tulip square by godox ? is there a way to make it compatible. I know there are other bowens mount, but being collapsible is always better .

      Yes, they're actually just the same model. Sometimes people refer to it just as the QT600II however officially it's the QT600IIM

      I think a DP400III-V is a good all-rounder studio flash that you can work together with the AD200Pro and V1. If budget allows get 2x 400W strobes.

      Neither work outdoors and need to be plugged into mains power. If your require to be completely wire-free outdoors then the AD300Pro would be the equivalent flash.

    What light setup will you recommend for dance photography? Can 3 ad200pro will do the job. Considering the need of flash duration? Or what else you recoment. To set up a dance photography studio with godox lights.

    • @hypop
      @hypop  ปีที่แล้ว

      AD200Pros can get the job done with a flash duration of 1/15,380 sec however if you're after a more powerful studio light setup we'd recommend the new Godox QT600IIIM.

    What you should have focused more on: stable color temp+ hue, t.1 flash duration, masking modes, accuracy of power output across fraction range, and stereostrobic modes.

      @@hypop Just my 2 cents. Viewers can pretty quickly catch on to the naming/power scheme Godox uses and have probably already looked up the price of a few of these units by the time they find your video. It's all the other features that actually make one line stand out from one another. Still, it's nice to at least have them sorted in a video like this.

    I’m in the market for 2 lights. The lights will be used with 1’x4’ strip boxes with grids, set up about two feet from the model at 45 degree angles pointed at the models nose. There will be black flags on either side of the models head. Shooting with Fuji GW690ii 6x9 90mm f/3.5. What flash would you recommend? Would two SK400 ll be enough for this set up?
