    How is clean up going? I'm worried about in between the pennies. Splashes of batter and grease that happens in regular daily cooking is hard to clean off a smooth surface. How is it going with all the spaces?

    I'm doing a penny backslash and it's easy to clear coat and clean after everyday messes but when you pick a clear coat get photo sensitive clear coat or it well all fade to yellow I will post pics in a bit but what a great project and it's fun for the whole family and looks beautiful also my wife loves it and it only cost me 60 bucks that's penny's and clear coat try to beat that price Lowe's lmao

      Lowes can beat that no problem. 1sqft of 1 cent coins is about $2.60
      Lowes has a ton of tile that is less than $2.60 a sqft... a lot less...

    love it so much! About how much time and expense? obviously , I'm not counting the cost of the pennies. just the supplies.

    How did you cut the pennies to fit at the corners &/or top & bottom? Thanks!

    Thank you for sharing this - it's beautiful! I am about to embark on a similar project and would love to know whether the superglue and polyurethane have held up after this long. Would you do anything differently?

      Did you actually go through with this? How'd it turn out and any thing to do differently?

    I really love this idea. I see you uploaded the video about 6 months ago. How is it holding up? Is the super glue still doing it's job? Is the polyurethane spray enough to protect this beautiful backsplash? This is really affordable and doable the way you have done it. Great job!

      All is well with it. Put about 6 thin coats of the polyurethane on it. Accidently over sprayed some oven cleaner that got on the copper socket plates and tarnished it. But I just replaced it. Pennies shine like new still.

    I had to giggle, there's an old saying "Some people have more dollars than they have cents (sense)". Looks like you have more cents than I have dollars LOL. Cool looking backsplash Sydney.
    Take Care Ken :)

    Just found this great idea... How does it look years later?

    • @GeorgiaSydney
      @GeorgiaSydney  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not as shiny but still beautiful. I have not lost even one coin. To keep that brand new penny look I should have used the polyurethane yearly or so just to maintain. However I’m not minding the tarnished look at all.

      @GeorgiaSydney  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      No I didn't. I just sealed it with the polyurethane.

    How many pennies did you use for this project and how many tubes of glue? What was the total cost?

    • @GeorgiaSydney
      @GeorgiaSydney  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      It ended up costing around 3.00 per sq. ft. Took about 60.00 in pennies. One tube of glue stuck approx. 150 pennies and I bought it @ 4 tubes for a dollar. With the copper light covers, 2 cans of polyurethane, pennies, and glue it was about 80 dollars total.

    • @eulaliecholmondeley8326
      @eulaliecholmondeley8326 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lauren Parker Good luck. I will give you another tip. I used new pennies for that shiny look. If this is your plan I suggest that you go to your bank and let then know that you would like to purchase them. The gov. is not making them in abundance and may take awhile to get all that you will need. Have fun!

  • @andreamcvey318

    If you want shiny pennies, you just have to drop them in a solution of white vinegar and salt. It will suck the tarnish off instantly.

    • @GeorgiaSydney
      @GeorgiaSydney  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I actually tried that, but found that nothing was as shiny as uncirculated pennies.
