  • Our penny floor in the kitchen. Start to finish in a little over a week. We used liquid nails from a caulking tube. Just spread it out with a small adhesive spreader. Used an unsanded grout. Then sealed with polyurethane.

What happens if you drop a penny on that floor now? How would you ever see it?

Dont understand why this offends so many people. Steel pennies are cool, but pretty much worthless, like all other pennies. Cooper is worth slightly more but the government has a hold on them being melted for scrap, so they are pretty much stuck at the value of a penny. This looked like a fun neat project that they enjoyed and has no bearing on anyone else what so ever. Chill out people and let others do what makes them happy.
Side note, they used 2 five gallon buckets full, which both hold about 500 dollars, so they have something really unique for about a grand.

Just wondering how you feel about the oil based polyurethane coating. Do you like it? I like the idea of being able to still feel the contours of the pennies, which doesn't happen with epoxy. Will it keep the coins from changing color? And does it have to be reapplied over time? Thanks!

Just wondering , shouldn't you bond that floor to an earth ground ? Because that is one hell of a conductor you laid there should stray current ever find it's way to it and you are someone else is standing on it at the time , you will become a path for that current to follow. I know if you have copper plumbing it is always connected to earth ground with a boding conductor (Wire)...Might want to ask a licensed Electrician about that to be on the safe side.

Nicely done, always interested in these penny type videos. I wonder how many square feet I can cover with 2,058,815 pennies. I'm guessing about 256 pennies per sq ft. I used that exact number because this is how many pennies will be in my pyramid once I complete it. I was going to simply go with polished concrete floors with a dye but I keep finding myself gravitating back towards using pennies. Any regrets? Any cons to this? Oh you can see my pyramid under construction if you want so you'll know I'm for real. Interested in hearing your feedback on the pro's and con's and the best techniques you've developed. Perhaps you can do another video going into a little more detail. I hit the like button.
