My aunt's Green-Winged Macaw, Scarlett, is 19 years old. She's had it since it was 10 weeks old. :) She had loads of birds, including two Blue & Gold Macaws. But since she's on oxygen now and can't take care of them, she's given them all away to really good people and places like bird sanctuaries. It was sad to see them go.
+Burned Frijoles I am sure the bird hate you too because maybe you dont give the attention and love the bird needs , its none of my business but why did you get the bird in first place ? This birds are not to keep them in a cage they are not to make your hose look nice , they need alot of attention, dedication, love and training if you do that He will be a loving companion!!!!
Cameron Asbury This is a bird. That is an idiot humanbeing who bought that bird for his own entertainment. That bird is an animal with wings who suppose to fly free in nature !!! Not to sit in a cage all his long long life like the animals in a cricus ! This bird is just for the entertainment and "feel good" feeling of that asshole humanbeing !!!! These birds are caught in nature and sold for big money just for dumb fucking idiots like in this video !!! What kind of sick human thing is that !!! THAT sweetheart is molesting !!! But obviously you don't understand that.
The trust and affection between the two of you is beautiful, I especially love his name and that you got him out of a less than ideal situation. :) Camaro is a handsome bird, y'all are doing a fantastic job.
great to see such a good relationship with a bird and I can tell he is really happy with you. Thank you for giving this bird so much love. I rescued a 11 year old Umbrella Cockatoo and we are best friends and I have had him a little over a year and I truly can't see my life without him.
I love him !!! Different how you have him climb out of his house....we don't call them cages...ha! I have a 24 year old Hahn's Mini Macaw. She is healthy just like Camero but she did got spooked a couple years back and messed up her wing/shoulder. It doesn't stop her from playing with her toys. Anyway....your parrot is gorgeous. 💜💜💜
My dad got a blue and gold named Rico when I was 7 years old, the bird was 3 when we got him, we had him for 15 years, then one winter it was too cold to take his cage outside to clean, so I cleaned it inside and used Fantastik, I had done it before with no issues, this time I must have used too much or put Rico back in his cage too soon. He asphyxiated and died. Be careful birds are very susceptible to this. They are beautiful birds, very smart, funny, and devious, trouble making, mean if not taken care of right, loving to the special people they pick. I miss mine.
It sure is. I work with birds like this every day. They are so smart and have such a big personality. I manage at a pet store that has different types of parrots and I get them at just a cpl weeks old and I hand feed them. Birds form bonds stronger than most dogs and they are such a wonderful friend to have. My biggest problem is wanting to keep them all and I get very picky who we sell them to cuz these birds r not for everyone
Great video. Sweets and myself are enjoying watching you and Camaro. Sweets, my blue and gold, is aprox. 30 years old. I have had her for 23 years. So fantastic. We are so lucky to share the life with a macaw. Not many people get to experience their love.
Pretty bird, and it looks like he's being taken care of well. It's amazing to see how sweet and gentle these birds can be and how well they can bond with their owners
I rescued a young macaw about 5 years old from a devorce situation, he is very sweet natured mist if the time, only he pulls out his feathers a lot !!! he looks bold bless him, u have drops in his water to help lots of New things to entertain him in his cage to chew on swing on climb etc but he still pulls feathers, !! any further experience I can have Please to help Jester would be very much appreciated
I have the same bird, but her name is Snoopy. She speaks Spanish and English and unfortunately she cusses a lot. I keep her at my auto shop so she hears the bad words often. Her favorite phrase is "what the fuck?!" and "hola!" Beautiful birds .. love them!
@Justina Razo - If you want to stop her from cussing, you need to work with her. Get a small toy truck and roll it across the floor and each time say to her, "LOOK, a truck!". Whenever she swears, get the truck and repeat the exercise. She may be a little confused at first thinking that she has been saying it wrong but in time she should either stop saying the original phrase or change it to please you. It is important that she doesn't hear anyone else saying "what the fuck" or she will not stop. Our Greenwing used to say, "Look what you did" and "You did it". One day he combined the two sentences and said, "Look what you did it". We laughed at the way he put the two sentences together, because we thought it was so cute. Laughing was the wrong thing for us to do. He never has said either phrase since, no matter how much we encourage him. I guess when an animal is as intelligent as these birds, they can easily be embarrassed. I will forever feel terrible about laughing at him. It was a hard lesson to learn.
I have one just like him and his name is Big Bob . He loves to nibble on my fingers and toes. He is 27 and would not trade him for the world. You can definitely tell your Camaro is well loved. Kudos to you both :-)
I'm an African Grey Parrot owner and I enjoyed your video. Camaro is really tame with you, I'm amazed he lets you lift up his wings like that. My parrot won't let me do that, despite being very friendly :)
You should really consider buying an aviator harness for him. Even a clipped bird can fly away because of the wind. You can also purchase carrying crates for large parrots like macaws. Better be safe than sorry.
I just seen your comment on a free fly macaw video, I fully encourage you to betin that training! I would love to so,eday see Camaro be able to free fly and return :) best of luck!
Aw I hope you don't really give your bird soda or any caffeine. It's not just unhealthy for him -- it's poisonous. He's such a sweet and pretty boy! I love how you guys get along with each other. Obviously very loved!!! And what a great name!
Voicefile Stop doing that to the poor bird. What difference does it make whether you are in Pakistan or on the moon? Any avian veterinarian worth a dime can tell you that you never ever give chocolate to a bird, a dog or a cat. You are being willfully ignorant.
Do most of you overly critical people commenting even own a parrot? My goodness some of the things that have been said are just ridiculous. He keeps his wings trimmed for the birds safety, look at all of the lost and found ads online where people have found or lost a bird due to it's wings not being clipped. And as for him taking a bath he looks fine...and licking the tab of the soda can? yeah they shouldn't DRINK soda but he was just licking it, everyone relax, this guy is taking good care of the bird so chill...and his cage is also just fine for a macaw.
T Fuller these bird are made for flying!!! If they dont they will be sick! The feathers of this bird are bad! That is due to be an not healty bird!! The cage is not ADAPT for macaws!! They need aviary ... wath they telling you at the pet shop is for selling ! Not for the bird
T Fuller I have one! I have a hyacinth macaw and we don't trim his wings because we like him to fly but I agree! if you don't own a bird you should search up how to care for it. 😄
I have a gold and blue macaw and the problem is the guy can teach the macaw to do recall training. But he just decides to clip them.. instead of spending time and effort into teaching his bird to freefly. And it is not good in any situation to even give a parrot “a taste” of the coke its amusing to some humans but it can cause long term health effects to the parrot.
Yea, my moms are easy too, but they dont let me pet them, but they will let me preen them occasionally. But I built a dog kenal at her house for her birds to go out in during summer and the neighbors just love it when they squawk if they see another bird in the sky. LOL I got a Goffin Cockatoo myself she is about 14 or 15 now I think.
I was raised with a parrot as my sister, also i have seen them in the wild, i know you love Camaro, and you take good care of him, but, you could check Mikey the macaw & friends channel, even Mia learned to fly and they build cages and aviaters, amazing stuff, macaws like Camaro.
Hi, I love your bird and was wondering how much food do they eat e.g how often do you give them nuts and what they are How much do you give them Daily and how much vegetables and fruit each day and how often (e.g twice daily?) I'm getting one myself (and yes I know there expensive and need a lot of looking after but I am literally all about them)
I would love to adopt one but my father says I could have one in a few years when I have my own house. They're just beautiful and so smart. Part of the reason why I think they don't want a bird is because they think they're just good for nothing noise makers. Edit-also might I ad that Camaro is the perfect name for him, it really suits him
As a Camaro owner, I think you made the right choice. Absolutely love Camaro but I know I couldn't take care of a Macaw properly and I think my first bird is going to be a Senegal or a Caique. Conures are beautiful but they scream and I don't need that lol.
What a pretty bird! 😊 Please be careful letting Camaro have a little bit of soda. In sure you already know but Camaro can't fart when he has carbonation like we can when he has carbonation. I know you really love him so please take good care of him. 😊
+ShebaTheLoneWolfie The best time to do it is right after a clipping, but if they are already clipped, you can still do it easily. If your bird isn't friendly, it's best to use a stick first, press against and up on their chest (above their legs) GENTLY and say "step up". Don't give them a choice, you don't want to hurt them obviously, but It's almost an automatic thing for them. If it's a friendly bird, you can use your index finger thumb side up and again, say "Step up". I worked in a pet store for a few years and I also had my own Yellow Naped Amazon Parrot for over 25 years. Not sure how old she was when I got her as she came to us from a pet store in Florida with little info. If I were to guess, I know she was at least 5 years old (she was mature, meaning her nape was fully yellow, and had quite an extensive vocabulary) I unfortunately had to give her to a friend (who is taking wonderful care of her actually, she eats better than I do !) because I moved and couldn't take her with me. :( BTW, anyone reading this, whoever it was that killed their bird by using Fantastik on the cage ... NEVER use anything but hot water and a very little bleach (like drops) and rinse VERY WELL in a well ventilated area with the bird NEVER around any aerosols, color printed newspaper, scented things, sprays, overheated teflon can even kill them. Their respiratory systems are very sensitive to these things. And yes, that cage is way too small for that macaw, buddy... I can tell you love your bird, but as someone said before, they have to be able to spread their wings and move fully around. I know cages are expensive, but Camero may outlive you... invest in a large cage so he can be comfortable. Also, whoever said you can tell sex by their forehead, you're high. They have to be surgically sexed. Sheesh people... I know there were some others off the wall remarks too, but I'm not going to play mythbusters on all of them. Do your research and do it well if you take on a parrot ! Nuff said. :)
Hi Brian; You have a beautiful little guy there. If he brings half as much joy to your life as we get from our birds, you are doing well. You both look very happy. Have you checked your video with the closed captioning on? It sounds like his original name was "Creeper" but the closed captioning says "pre-burn". It also says that his name is "Romaro" rather than Camaro. My husband and I have two birds. We started making payments on them when they were still in their eggs. They will both turn 18 this year. We have a male Greenwing and a female Blue and Gold. Although they are a lot of work, we are very attached to them. Because of their intelligence level, they are very entertaining and great companions. Before we got these birds, we had lost a mini macaw (Severe) and a Goffins Cockatoo to a house fire. We have had birds in our lives for more than twenty years. We just had our B&G to the vet this week because her air sacs were inflated and she was unable to deflate them. We were told that this is a bit of a rarity in Macaws and more common in Amazons. She had to undergo surgery and may need to have another procedure where a shunt or stint is put in place to release the air, if the surgery does not fix the problem. We won't know for a few more days where we stand with her. It seems there is always something new to learn when you share your life and home with birds.
To update on our B&G, she went in for her second surgery two days after her 18th birthday to have a stent put in place. The procedure went well, and she came out of the anesthetic but then her heart quit. We allowed an autopsy to be done and the only thing the vet could think of was that she may have had an aneurism. We have been doing a lot of research since and have found that this is not as uncommon as we were first led to believe. Now we are left with only one Greenwing macaw who misses his friend and calls her name. It is heart breaking. He turned 18 just days after her death. We have invested in a much better air cleaner so that we can hopefully avoid this happening to him. We thought that we had done our homework. When you live with exotic animals the learning never ends.
I clip my Cockatiel's wings because he would fly to fast for the house, even though its open concept and hit the ceiling, walls etc at very dangerous speeds. He gets clipped about every 6 weeks by me and he still fly's, however he doesn't get the speed that he does when he is not clipped which means he doesn't crash. If you have ever picked your unconscious bird up after it crashed into a wall too fast you would probably choose to clip. My bird is fully able to go to and from his cage, which is never closed, he normally chooses to hang out on or around his cage though regardless of whether he is clipped or not. If he can't get himself out of somewhere that he has landed by flying (like going under the table) he simply walks, which i see birds doing every single day outside rather than flying. Brian, the guy who posted this, says he doesn't have his other hand anymore in the video, sometimes a stubborn bird or one that is in a bad mood is hard to handle with both hands and i think it is great that he has found a way to socialize with his bird in a way that is safe for them both in his current situation. What is right for you isn't right for everybody. Getting your cat or dog neutered or spayed could easily be argued as far more harsh than clipping the wings. In my experience my birds that were clipped seemed to gain strength and became good fliers even when clipped because they have to work harder. In the wild these muscles would always be used and there wouldnt be a weakness that necessitates any type of strength exercises but in a house with four walls and a ceiling regardless of how far your bird fly's in a straight line, it is NOT getting to a proper flight pattern as it would if it was outdoors in it's natural habitat. Perhaps instead of passing criticism we should all be liking the fact that this beautiful bird has a loving owner and a home that is doing it's best to accomodate the birds needs. Many, if not most, birds are bought, left in a cage and then passed on because they are mean, boring, don't socialize etc. Anytime I see a bird who is happy to be with his owner I call it a success. I do recommend that Brian talk to an aviary vet to see about the sips of coke to ensure it is okay. For some animals and species things are okay in moderation, my biggest concern would be that the bird is consuming a large percentage of unneccessary calories per sip and is therefore going to stress his organs as well as his joints etc. Perhaps something like lemon water would be a suitable substitute but again I would talk to an Aviary Vet to be sure as some foods can be toxic regardless how natural (example tomato plant leaves). Good Luck Brian!!
Marisa S I agree 100% with what you said but one thing. You said you clip your parrots wings every 6 weeks? Why? I clip my alexandrines wings ever 6 months, less if needed to more if needed to. You only need to clip them when they regrow/molt. You parrots feathers wont completely regrow/molt in 6 weeks so what feathers are you clipping exactly? I know cockatiels can fly with fewer flight feathers, although these feathers don't ever grow, they have to molt and get new ones, you should be good to go for at the least 3 months-4 months in between molts which usually happen twice a year.
the issue that parrots lack orientation eg. in Australia they basically fly from tree to tree, no prob. So get a parrot tames that he really knows how to get back to you is a huge task.
@@MarisaAndChew You can train and learn your bird how to fly and to land, you never have to clip them again, and yes, like your kids, they will get wounded, but because they are not overwelmed they will not get knocked out, and they will learn how to fly, i do not know you or your bird, but in general you can learn your bird to fly and to land and to handle obstacles like trees, like when you teach your kid to bike ( Mikey tha macaw & friends is a cool channel. ) I was raised with two macaws and on grey red tale, and i have seen flocks of prakeets, cockatiel and parrots in the wild, they know how to live, they do not need to be caged and a humans pet, but if you do make them a pet somehow, give them the best life, also i am in a preachy mood here because of this video and your comment and my memories of my sister my parrot, lets keep the forest big and great and wild, its sad how people forget conservation of forestlands is important.
Lovely Macaw you have there buddy. I too have a Blue & Gold Macaw called Mika and she's amazing, I am also very guilty of drinking coke regularly & Mika takes great pleasure in opening the cans for me. I however do not her drink the stuff because of the gas in coke; birds can't release gas with burps or farts like us, so it's dangerous for them for this reason too.
Everyone on here is crazy uptight. But I would suggest putting perches around the house for free roam :) it works for us but it's an eclectus parrot maybe lower activity levels.
Beautiful bird!!! Wow that's amazing they can live that long! A great companion friendship for life.
My aunt's Green-Winged Macaw, Scarlett, is 19 years old. She's had it since it was 10 weeks old. :) She had loads of birds, including two Blue & Gold Macaws. He looks like he's in good hands...cheers.
Why do you say he's a sadist?
Mozes Kriebel Could you elaborate? I'm not saying you're a liar, but I'm not sure what you mean when you say he's molesting it.
Cameron Asbury

But obviously you don't understand that.
I'd advise you to remember to take your medication every morning. Thanks.
Yeah, from the looks of it I'd have to agree with you. And I'm not quite sure he understands what that word means.
The trust and affection between the two of you is beautiful, I especially love his name and that you got him out of a less than ideal situation. :) Camaro is a handsome bird, y'all are doing a fantastic job.
You traded a car that didn't run for a lifelong friend. Congrats!
Sweet , he's 21 . That means you can take him to the casino.
His beautiful, my mom has one in my country and it's just so beautiful to see it walking around and he follows you like a puppy lol.
great to see such a good relationship with a bird and I can tell he is really happy with you. Thank you for giving this bird so much love. I rescued a 11 year old Umbrella Cockatoo and we are best friends and I have had him a little over a year and I truly can't see my life without him.
You're taking good care of your baby. Happy Birthday Camaro! I'll pass you a symbolic glass of beer.
The bond is amazing ! Takes guts to put your fingers near a bird ! Especially a Macaw ! Camaro obviously adores you and trust's you alot !
I love him !!! Different how you have him climb out of his house....we don't call them cages...ha!

I'm so sorry for your loss when ever I clean my both bird cages I use bird cage cleaner or bird safe cleaners
sweet bird and the man in the video seems like a wonderful pet owner.. very kind.. i can see why Camaro has such a good relationship with him..
Beautiful macaw! Much better than an old rusty camaro!
You traded a car for him??
I think the other guy got the short end of the stick.
+watts300 i have one it costed me $100.00 i want a camaro ill exchange that bird right now!!!
yea what a dumb ass to get rid of such a beautiful animal with so much personality.
I'd give away a car for macaw I can take care of. jokes on you

taking care of birds like those is hard so its prob for the better if he traded for a car, but yeah I agree with you such a beautiful bird
If you teach him recall flight training you CAN let him fly and get his exercise. Birds need to fly.
You both seem very happy to have found each other.
Great video. Sweets and myself are enjoying watching you and Camaro. Sweets, my blue and gold, is aprox. 30 years old. I have had her for 23 years. So fantastic.

wow. they are really such beautiful animals. its amazing. i want one so bad

that is the most well behaved macaw I have ever seen! You are a lucky guy to have landed that bird, congratulations!

Hehe..bdw do u have baby macaw
This is the second time I've seen this video. I am still impressed with the way you care for your avian child.
You did a very good choice changing that Camaro for that bird he is a beauty . I love animals.
im extremely jealous... beautiful bird and great relationship..
Beautiful bird, and you are a great parrot parent!
It's so great to see someone taking great care of a parrot for this long. Most people just get tired or bored and end up neglecting the poor bird.
it was the trade well worth it Brian!! Beautiful bird
Awesome video I cant stop smiling I want a blue macaw like off of Rio!!
I have one just like him and his name is Big Bob . He loves to nibble on my fingers and toes. He is 27 and would not trade him for the world. You can definitely tell your Camaro is well loved. Kudos to you both :-)
This is such a good bird, you are very lucky.
seriously 21 year old!wow dude,if its true...u one heck of a cool dude mate and ur family is awesome!!god bless!!
lovely video man great stuff.
i loved how he was in his room with the tunes playing :)
We have just gotten a Harlequin macaw and he is the best friend we could have ever received .
I'm an African Grey Parrot owner and I enjoyed your video. Camaro is really tame with you, I'm amazed he lets you lift up his wings like that. My parrot won't let me do that, despite being very friendly :)
Very beautiful bird!
I love the friendship between you two! 😄
I’m going to get one. I like the fact that they live so long and you can even teach them to talk, they make good life long companions
I love him! I also own birds and they are wonderful sweet pets. :)
That pin feather on his tail is huge! I only have conures, he's really cool.
I am super against clipping birds, but there are certain situations where it's permissible to me, and this is one of them.
Why are u against clipping birds? They can't feel it
Jak Attack You clearly know nothing of birds...
I own birds and while I don't clip it's not exactly abuse. If it's done right it doesn't hurt.
Luke It isn't pain that you should worry about, it's the risk of injury.
foxclown If a bird falls when it can't fly it can be seriously injured... there are many reasons birds has wings, and that is one of them.
You should really consider buying an aviator harness for him. Even a clipped bird can fly away because of the wind. You can also purchase carrying crates for large parrots like macaws. Better be safe than sorry.

Its not poisonous. My parrot in Pakistan drinks tea with me or my big brother and it never hurts it!
Voicefile Not all poisons are instantaneous. Even arsenic takes time to kill. Soda is especially bad!
Voicefile You are the reason that people shouldn't believe what they read on the internet. Chocolate is toxic to birds!
Oh my fucking word I actually gave chocolate to a parrot and it liked and never got ill... in Pakistan. So shut up!
Voicefile Stop doing that to the poor bird. What difference does it make whether you are in Pakistan or on the moon? Any avian veterinarian worth a dime can tell you that you never ever give chocolate to a bird, a dog or a cat. You are being willfully ignorant.

hi Brian, hope camaro is still going strong you two have a beautiful bond
Macaws bite their feathers off when they get bored and are left unattended. That’s how you know this bird is very loved.
I love parrots so much that I think I'm going to get one today
Such a beautiful birdy!!!
I was raised with a parrot as my sister, also i have seen them in the wild, i know you love Camaro, and you take good care of him, but, you could check Mikey the macaw & friends channel, even Mia learned to fly and they build cages and aviaters, amazing stuff, macaws like Camaro.

he looks like a wonderful bird with he has a great life!!! but just one comment he looks like he could use a bath. :)
Oh he is so excited! Look at those pin eyes!
Wow fantastic Lucky Guy.
I love his name! It's very fitting!
Conures are beautiful but they scream and I don't need that lol.
gorgeous creature!
He’s Beautiful ❤
Hes beautiful for a bird thats 21 years old,hey he can have a beer now ha ha ha!
Awesome bird you got there man.
OMG he's amazing!!!! i can't wait to get my macaw
He looks really happy :)
hey. where did you get your parrots and how much are they .and how much are there cages
He is so happy to have your attention love and kisses
he’s so tame! adorable
What a pretty bird! 😊 Please be careful letting Camaro have a little bit of soda. In sure you already know but Camaro can't fart when he has carbonation like we can when he has carbonation. I know you really love him so please take good care of him. 😊
he's absolutely gorgeous
This is my favorite bird video!! He is lucky to have u..
Is he still alive??
I would imagine he is still alive those parrots live for a very long time
beautiful bird
But isn't the size small? I seen blue and gold parrots in big sizes as well. Do they have different sizes?
Ah that's cool! I recently got a 21 year old B&G macaw.
I have a hyacinth macaw and he is nice and tame too. he normally likes to sit on my shoulder and shower with me. 😄
Incredible, that bird is as old as I am :)
@Kittymewmew 1000 - That bird will probably live longer than you.
That bird looked really annoyed when you turned the music off, he was happily listening to it!
I have my own 6 year old blue and gold macaw and Ive had him almost a year.I was wondering how you trained your companion to step up?
BTW, anyone reading this, whoever it was that killed their bird by using Fantastik on the cage ...
Nuff said. :)
beautiful bird do they make a lot of noise?
I own a military and a hybrid macaw and i want to know at what age do they start breeding and does the age difference matter ?
Hi Brian;
You have a beautiful little guy there.
Commitment wouldn't be a problem for me. But I hear the cost is up there. What is the going rate there days?
You're not kidding about the beak, I had a macaw bite my arm, still have a scar.
He is gorgeous :)
How long have you had Camaro? He's so beautiful and gentle
How much did he cost and are they possible to own in Canada
What a great bird.
Camaro looks like a smart bird cool vid
Ive heard Camaro means companion in french I think and thats why the car was named that, so actually very fitting name!
Wow he's way older than my birds but he's so sweet
He’s beautiful!!
I'm concerned about the size of the cage.
I had a parrot , he flew back to me . It's so painful and inhuman to deny flight to the poor bird!
@@MarisaAndChew You can train and learn your bird how to fly and to land, you never have to clip them again, and yes, like your kids, they will get wounded, but because they are not overwelmed they will not get knocked out, and they will learn how to fly, i do not know you or your bird, but in general you can learn your bird to fly and to land and to handle obstacles like trees, like when you teach your kid to bike ( Mikey tha macaw & friends is a cool channel. ) I was raised with two macaws and on grey red tale, and i have seen flocks of prakeets, cockatiel and parrots in the wild, they know how to live, they do not need to be caged and a humans pet, but if you do make them a pet somehow, give them the best life, also i am in a preachy mood here because of this video and your comment and my memories of my sister my parrot, lets keep the forest big and great and wild, its sad how people forget conservation of forestlands is important.
great video
Lovely Macaw you have there buddy. I too have a Blue & Gold Macaw called Mika and she's amazing, I am also very guilty of drinking coke regularly & Mika takes great pleasure in opening the cans for me. I however do not her drink the stuff because of the gas in coke; birds can't release gas with burps or farts like us, so it's dangerous for them for this reason too.
Everyone on here is crazy uptight. But I would suggest putting perches around the house for free roam :) it works for us but it's an eclectus parrot maybe lower activity levels.
where did u bought the cage at
