      Bro... don't pick up your bird by its neck. You also don't need to force its wings open. You can train it to be ok with flipping on to its back while holding its feet and to open its wings on cue. This seems super controlling. All the cuddling your doing appears to be you projecting on to the bird... its feathers never seem relaxed and fluffed, its always flat. If you haven't found them already, look up BirdTricks. They teach you how to train a parrot with respect and dignity and still get amazing results.

    i dont understand why so many ppl said this guy is abusing the parrot or the parrot is unhappy or whatsoever.
    all i can see is how much trust is between them from this video. if a bird with beak of that size was unhappy, this guy would have had broken face and fingers by now. a parrot won't just let someone to "abuse" it without resisting, esp. a rescue one. if you think that this bird is unhappy, you obviously know nothing about birds. bigger birds sometimes like to play rough, and my bird likes to hang himself up-side-down all the time. never judge based on ur narrow perception on birds. so what if this guy sounds a little creepy. i appreciate his effort in taking care of a rescue bird. i support u, mr. sazhin! keep up ur good work!

      RealKingPredator well a wild parrot should be in the wild. Why to keep a wild animal as a pet away from their home. That's abuse.

      Art of Peek-a-Boo style I can get what you're saying , but It doesn't mean it's wrong to adopt it. So many birds are rescued from abusive homes and if nothing, they at least got loving owners. It would be cruel to let a domesticated bird in the wild, it would die.

    • @muurrarium9460

      Don't be ridiculous- is that was a true bite he would have been to hospital to have him sewn back together. At that point she was testing him with a small nibble.
      He knows a few things- but not enough to provide a good home. He is like Paris Hilton with her newest fad- showing off but you know it will not last and the other party will suffer for it.
      This man was verry lucky in obtaining a bird that enjoyed two previous owners who did a wonderfull job teaching the bird to behave nicely-- he is showing of that he is no longer afraid of her and managed not to f*ck anything up (yet), not anything he has actually accomplished himself...
      (and doh, you *never* add another parrot/ bird to your house without having it tested beforehand / every rescue and rehoming organisation here does that anyway, but if you adopt from someone else's home- tests first!! And if you think those are too expensive you have no buiseness trying to take care of a parrot)

    • @anmarpugs
      @anmarpugs 7 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      The bird is in great condition, he is taking great care of this bird. It looks a lot better now then when he first got it. He has a way with the bird he knows what he is doing. I think you are not looking at the condition of the bird and how he loves that animal.

    For those that are saying he’s abusing his macaw obviously don’t have a connection with your animals! All I see is pure trust and bonding. Everyone gets more comfortable with their animals, and as you get more trusting/comfortable you can do more with you animal. This animal obviously isn’t in any pain or stress, so what’s the issue?

    IF THE BIRD WAS UNCOMFORTABLE, IT WOULD MAKE IT APPARENT.
    Desensitization instills trust in the bird (offering it great chances to find a forever home) and bare in mind avians are extremely lightweight and their entire structure depends on their ability to pull themselves up with their necks. If he abused this animal, it would be squawking, biting, flying away etc. Welcome to the real world.

      jake Ryan lol man you’re the moron. You assume everyone’s like in the business of training parrots. “Everyone stop bitching about his ‘methods’ and focus on ourselves so we can try and be the best parrot trainer out there!” Im paraphrasing the fuck out of what you said but just showing how dumb the concept is. It’s like going to a video of a hockey game where a bunch of people are criticizing a particular players performance, and someone says in response “EVERYBODY, just stop criticizing his performance, just focus on yourself and focus on steadily improving your game- aim to be the best hockey player you can be, practice and train every day and one day maybe, MAYBE even win the playoffs” do you see what I’m saying yet? It’s like when you see two people arguing in youtube comments about... I dunno, trump or something. However one guy has a display picture and the other doesn’t, and the one with the picture says “man, youre the idiot, you’re a joke, you don’t even have a display picture of yourself and you don’t even have your real name set as your account handle, im not gonna continue to talk to someone who doesn’t even have the integrity to show their real name and face on TH-cam- pfffft, you don’t even any videos!!! Man, you have no subscribers either. You’re a clown” see my point? It’s silly to assume everyone’s playing from the same book or rules as you

      She has turned out to be a real sweetheart. You can do amazing things with birds by showing them love and trust. The myth that birds must be bought as babies or hand-fed by humans to be sweet birds is just that - a myth. A bird will respond well and bond to you if you show them respect, trust, and love. I commend you for giving your 'rescue bird' such a wonderful life! You have a great relationship with your birds.

      A macaw's esophagus is much firmer than a human's. Coupled with the fact that birds have a very light body weight compared to their size, it is completely safe to pick up macaws by the neck for short periods of time. He isn't suffocating the bird.
      She wasn't in a great position to step-up anyways, so readjusting by the neck was probably the safest bet.

He was a retired doctor and veterinarian and spent all day just pkaying with his birds and making them happy. Sadly he had a heart failure (he was quite old) and the birds had to be sent to a sanctuary. One of them which he raised for 12 years even sang musics when he played his radio. I miss him.

    Parrot Wizard, you do wonderful work with your parrots, however, please don't pick up your bird by the neck. It's completely unnecessary and it could be very dangerous. Your bird winced when you aggressively grabbed her and startled her. Holding the bird at the back of the neck and supporting the body at the same time is often done during veterinary exams, but there is no reason for people to do this at home unless there is a procedure being done. Also the veterinarian doesn't just tangle the bird by the neck as you did. Additionally, all of the manhandling may eventually cause your bird to resent you when she is more mature. It's very dangerous for people to watch this and try it at home. Viewers please do not do this.

      +RUFF-
      ugh, anyone who says "show me studies to prove an obscure thing" will never understand that people can have different opinions based on their individual experiences, because people and animals have different personalities. if you own parrots you know that training them is a gradual process. you can train them to do anything, if you train them properly. if your parrot wouldn't let you do this its either because it doesn't trust you, or because that particular bird just doesn't like that particular activity. and if that's the case all it proves is YOUR bird us different to HIS bird. he clearly didn't go straight to flipping the bird upside down! he probably started off by getting it to let him touch its back, or whatever, using positive reinforcement. if, after proper effort, the parrot was uncooperative or aggressive then he wouldn't do it. clearly this parrot was fine with it. you could say training any kind of "trick" behaviour is 'pointless and moronic' using your logic. I have nothing more to say.

      LadyRavencide13 Also I would like to add, that you can find out how the bird feels using a scientific approach. You say that we can never understand approaching it that way, and I say you can hook up electrodes to his head and see how he reacts to every action, then graph the brain waves and you can tell if hes happy for sad. Science can handle anything. I'm sure a bird expert has already studied this.

    A harness for a bird, I've heard it all now. What possible reason would you need to strap up a bird like a dog. • @philbusiness52
      @philbusiness52 10 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      It isn't fair? Here's me playing a song on the world's smallest violin.
      To be honest birds can do better in "cooped up enclosures" than in the wild. I'm a 15 year bird owner and right now I have a cockatiel. My bird loves me (says goodbye and hello whenever I leave/enter the house, wakes me up in the morning, eats with me at the table, goes on car rides and visits to stores) and I would never do anything to harm him. In the "wild" he is in way more danger than if he were with me. I mean in the wild the cockatiel can be lunch to a whole host of different animals.
      Just so you know I have a 'travel cage' (Oh My Goodness!!!) for my bird that he get's into (willingly) when we go on car rides and visits.
      No one wants to hear your ignorant comments about keeping birds in 'captivity'.
      Thank you.

    • @Robin-sc1lf
      @Robin-sc1lf 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Philip Vaughn I fear you are actually as arrogant as you sound. To think that you actually believe what you are writing irritates me. Its the wild animals you take from their natural habitat and force them to live with you that I feel sorry for. It is frankly absurd that you believe a wild animal does better in your house/flat where they are forced to live simply because you selfishly want to keep them there. You are fooling nobody with your argument, just admit you have birds for selfish reasons not because it benefits the bird in anyway shape or form.
      Let me spell this out to you in the same arrogant tone you put on me "THERE IS SIMPLY NO.... I REPEAT NO< SUBSTITUTE FOR AN ANIMALS NATURAL ENVIRONMENT". The birds are happiest and they deserve to live and perform their natural nesting, migratory, mate finding and seasonal behaviors as they would in the wild. Not strapped to a harness like a dog or sat in your house all day on a perch or in your car.
      The birds didnt seek you out your seeked it out. yes, while some birds may be prey for other animals, this is the natural order of a very finely balanced system. But to use that as a reason for keeping them is rubbish and you know it. Birds are doing fine in the natural habitat and have been for millions of years and will continue to without you. Yes a bird will adapt like any creature would that is forced/conditioned a certain way day in day out. But dont be under any illusion that it at all benefits the animal, so you can justify caging such free spirits, because it doesnt. You keep them because you want to and not the other way around.
      So while I couldnt care less what you think about me and my understanding of birds, I am already decades ahead of you because I dont ignore the simple fact that wild animals should be left as such and not forced to remain in an unnatural environment for you to enjoy them. Do what any person who truely cares for wildlife does and pay for a trip to see them in their natural habitat and leave them to get on with their lives.

    • @philbusiness52
      @philbusiness52 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Robin Moll
      Um... I'm not arrogant I simply speak from experience being a long time bird owner. In the wild birds have the chance of being eaten all the time, so yes, the bird is safer with me. I actually never said I have the bird BECAUSE he's safer with me. The fact is I have the bird because of purely selfish reasons (I want one) and I have no shame in that at all. I love birds and I've had them around me for over half of my life.
      And I came at you because you're trying to comment on something you have no understanding of. Sure you can say birds like their "natural habitat" better but the fact is: you don't actually know this because unless you're the pet psychic and can read their thoughts none of them have ever told you that.
      If a bird is nervous or doesn't like what you're doing it will bite and the bird in this video never bit the man one time. That bird has a lot of trust in this owner.
      This will be my last comment on here with you because you're actually the arrogant one trying to force your ways on other people and I'm wasting my time even typing THIS reply much more anything else.

    • @Robin-sc1lf
      @Robin-sc1lf 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Philip Vaughn I gave my opinion yes, its up to who ever reads it if they heed my advice, I am forcing nothing on anyone. You however are forcing your ways on the bird, who never asked for you in its life. There is no such thing as animal psychics, its just a made up thing to exploit money out of gullible people like you.
      The very fact that a bird has survived for millions of years in the wild (where it belongs) is evidence enough to prove that is where they belong. Where they can perform their natural behaviors in their natural environment (find a mate, nest, rear their young). This is not just my opinion but science fact and any conservationist, ecologist or even biologist will give you evidence for the same.
      You say the bird is safer with you. Apart from the facts I have presented you so far I am going to go out on a limb and say you have no idea how the birds that you keep are caught from their natural habitat in the tropics? No, OK I will tell you. In places like the amazon and other rain forests, huge nets are cast that span from tree to tree to catch these beautiful creatures. Some of the lucky birds break their necks when they hit the netting and die quickly whereas others are stuck there for weeks frantically struggling to get free and either die from exhaustion or die slowly through starvation or eaten as prey while unable to break free.These nets are sometime not checked for weeks on end and so the birds starve to death. When the poachers return, the birds that look the best are roughly caged for transport and those that aren't right or have broken limbs or wings have their neck broken and thrown to the floor so they are not caught in the net again. These birds could have been nesting and had young to feed, which die from starvation because their mother was caught in the net or if they are lucky are eaten early. This trade is completely unregulated and illegal, but these birds end up in pet shops around the world, in bird magazine articles, of which the USA is a main source, simply because there is a demand from selfish people like YOU!!!!
      All animals are finely adapted to their environment and play a crucial role in the ecosystem. Because of the vastness of this trade some birds are on the brink of extinction. So you take a long look at your bird and think about what you are doing, the terrible trade and suffering you are causing by supporting this trade and suffering of these wild animals in other countries just because you want one. Look at your bird and then think of the 1000s that also hit that net and were killed.
      You keep saying that I dont know anything about these birds but its YOU who is denying the horrible truth behind wild animal trade so WAKE UP!!!, do some proper research into where your birds come from and how they are caught and the suffering they endure and the effect its having in the areas these birds originate. Maybe then you will see the only place for them is the home they have had since the dawn of time, not your front room.

      You speak so true! I sufer every day from locking mine within a room all day, while gladly leaving the house!
      But I only took birds that were pure and forgotten cage-birds that now can have free flight! And partners1 And nature!
      Those vid-commenters 8and vid-makers) seem to have total unsuitable concepts of birds: they keep 1 single bird, misconceptualize them as dog-bird, clip wings (no dirt, bird being forced to be that nearby-slave).
      A animal-shop-seller told me: Americans households she visited sent their (often sigle) parrot to surgery, letting destroy the vocal cords!
      THIS is the concept, especially Americans have (cliping wings, remotving/destroying vocal chords is not known in Europe! Single-keeping is also less).
      They mix up play-stuff with vivid creatures! Disgusting and so cruel!

      Additionally, birds do not have a diaphragm. To hold them by the ribcage would actually be more harmful than holding by the neck because they need to move their whole chest to breathe properly. Holding around the body constricts that movement and causes difficulty breathing.

      Paula Pianda he free flies his birds outdoors and indoors, they interact with him and each other all the time... their cages are very large and are situated in his living room where he spends most of his time. His birds are, quite literally, with a partner arguably 90% of the day. As to living in the wild (as you imply) again these are born captive, one is a rescue, and it's simply not feasible to return them to a lifestyle that would exactly mirror their ancestors. I've worked with many parrots before, and a captive bird can have plenty of interaction with "wild" things. Free flying or letting the bird simply walk around and engage with items in a park or the yard is excellent stimulation. PS, trees are not a make or break thing in a bird's life. They provide a home and protection for a bird, off the ground, in the wild. A captive bird has a home and protection - trees become a toy at that point.

    You've built a lot of trust with that rescue bird to be able to do things like that with her in a short amount of time.

    A few of you might freak seeing him pick the bird up by the neck but remember this is a rescued macaw, and the trainer has a lot of experience with handling them.
    Also note that a lot of parrot and parrot sub-species climb using their beaks supporting their full weight in tandem with claws to manually climb obstacles - there is very little risk of damage in handling them this way if done properly.

    It was weird to see him handling the bird that way at first, I admit it, but after a couple of minutes you can tell he is in heaven. Happy birb!

      Happy or content birds usually make their feathers a little more fluffy looking. This one appears to be tolerating this, not necessarily enjoying it.

    Watching you grab her by the neck is definitely off-putting, but I realize that because of her large size (and obvious loving trusting bond) that it isn't as bad as it seems. I definitely learned something new about the anatomy of birds today!

    Too all you people that is whining about him picking up the parrot by the neck, go do some research. It is generally better to pickup a parrot by the neck, than by the stomach. this is basic knowledge for handling larger parrots (obviously not small ones)
