I don't know what made me come back to this video today after seeing it a decade ago, perhaps your handsome face, maybe the mesmerizing brilliantly colorful beauty of Rachel, but I definitely did not expect to make the most unwelcome discovery that you are now both gone: Rachel: 2000-2015 Jason J. Seymour: February 15, 1977 - November 3, 2017 Extremely, tragically sad news. If anyone reading this who is a friend or relative knows why Jason took his own life, what was going on at the time for him, how his husband is doing, or really anything about his life, I would love to hear of it. He was a beautiful man who brought a few minutes of joy into now at least 1.5 million of our lives. R.I.P.
My grandmother owned a Macaw before he passed away from old age. He only loved her, and would curse and cackle like my grandmother whenever someone else passed him by. Picked up her foul language, and her even fouler attitude. But was a sweet bird at times, and would let me pick him up and ruffle his feathers every once in a while.
q8altair12 they need a partner so to hold parrots alone is never a very good idea...(even if this couple is very sweet)......... so they fix themself on a human---- the most single birds are lonely.... i dont know why americans asians are deef to this scientifically knowledge. But in other countries its even fixed in the law.
I love seeing a man love his animals especially birds and talk to them in cutesy voices. This is exactly how I am with my bird and I thought I was the only one who did this lol
Thank you for sharing your video, your bird is precious. Always wanted a parrot or a cockatoo but heard they are difficult to handle & expensive to keep...so I will live vicariously through videos. :)
WOW...Mother Nature never fails to amaze and just AWE me..."Rachel Bird" is simply magnificent with those beautifully colored feathers and sweet happy nature... It cracks me up how these huge and powerful creatures so often go "mute" should they notice the camera nearby...so cute
Fabulous. Love Rachel Bird - she is adorable. I have a Bilbo Bird - Moluccan Cockatoo. He loves to sit on a window sill in "his" room so he can survey all he "owns" outside - regardless of whether it actually stops at our perimeter fence!
Wanted to say I hope you're hanging in there after such a huge loss...I think about you and Rachel ....she was amazing....hugs and wishes for your heart to heal...soon....
I have a sun conure and have always wanted a macaw but my space isn't big enough. Rachel seems super happy so thank you for being a good bird owner and having her out as much as possible!
Hahaha I've been watching this video lately. Like, a lot... I always imagine their conversation in a chat window. - What are you doing? - Uhhmm? - Mmmm? Watchudoiiinnn?! - Big Biiiird. - Rachel. :3 - Hahaha - Hahhahhhaha - Hello - Hello - Hi - Hi - How are you? - I'm good! How are you? - Whatchuuudoiing?! :3
Only a few of us get to experience the love of a macaw. Rachel is almost as sweet as my blue and gold. Sweets has been in the family for 23 years now. Thanks for the video!
Adorable. Yep I remember with my indian ringnecks, they would talk and talk, but when the camera came out - they would clam out. then one day, they didn't care bout the camera and it was so great when they would just start talking. Makes up 'parrot mommies and daddies' feel proud. thanks for posting.
How old is Rachel now? :33 i remember watching this video 3 years ago before I bought my Cockatiel. You were an inspiration for me to buy a parrot and make him talk :3 thank you :*
Someone on Craigslist was selling two cockatoos and I asked the owner why. He told me his wife passed away and he had to get rid of them because he couldn't take care of them. I asked for pictures and he sent me several along with this video right here. He went on and on in emails about shipping the cockatoo and the carrier fee/ flight fee, which was needed ASAP. Yes I caught on right then and there it was a scam so I asked for a phone number because it's easier to text. I got the number, text several more times and when I tried calling it was a recording that I had to leave a message and the name of the person I was wanting to talk to. Red Alert for sure. I called the police and reported it. And I hope that they catch the bogus seller.
In the US, macaws average about $1000-$2000. I heard they cost more in other countries. Some macaws that are rare (like a high yellow hybrid) can cost more. I currently am saving up for my second macaw, which looks like I'll be spending $5k, because of its rarity and loving personality.
Macaws are very loyal and personally I worked with macaws from a very young age. Truthfully, greys and cockatoos kinda freak me out because they can switch temperament so quickly. Cockatoos with their sass and greys because they are sensitive and shy. Macaws are a pretty mild temperament, but being big birds they will try to intimidate. If I hadn't gone for a macaw, my second choice was a toucan. Also ironically, I wanted a parrot who didn't "talk" because I was sick of people asking "hey can your bird talk?". I say ironically, because macaws usually don't say much, but my macaw picks up tons of phrases right off the bat, he knows about 30 words now.
Reminds me so much of my nannies bird vegemite! ☺ Miss walking up the drive way and and hearing her say 'hello' 'what cha doing' And singing cocky dance while dancing hahaha 😂
I vlove you guys. I have 3 amazon parrots and they are cute as hell... Keep spending time with your buddy, it's very nice to look at! Cheers from Belgium!
I am not sure why I am writing you, but I lost my "Jakers" about 14 years(an Umbrella Cocatoo) and I truly know how you feel, it is hard to make people understand the attachment you can have to a bird. I lasted about 7 months before getting another buddy, I got a rescue bird that no one wanted because of temper and biting and in less than 3 months he turned into the most loving little friend any one could have asked for. I am still amazed with the power of Love
I'm a 65 yr old grandmother, and I still think this guy is adorable - but in the way a grandson would be!! the bird is so cute and I expect she will learn more words as she gets older. He interacts well with her.
Thank you for your reply. I didn't mention the loss of my 32+year old Grey 3 years before I lost my Blue & Gold. It was a terrible loss. 2 best friends in 3 years. I' m glad there are people like you who can relate. Thank you & God bless!
Your Macaw is magnificent! My husband has a 32 year old blue & gold Macaw and she barely speaks at all! She makes noises and cuddles and gets wild, but doesn't talk like your bird. (she also just laid an egg!) You must have spent a LOT of time teaching her to talk.
WOW, Rachel is Beautiful!!! and she talks very well!! My African Grey Congo Shorty will not talk on camera, so I have to hid it to capture him talking!! good job catching her on camera!!
You're both SO ADORABLE!!
Minie Leyen Thanks, we try! ;-)
Yes he is cute, HOT guy !
+stafford69 - His boyfriend is probably holding the camera. Chuckle! ;-)
OK
OK
I came here looking for a talking bird, but this guy is so fine.
Baby

How old is Rachel now? :33 i remember watching this video 3 years ago before I bought my Cockatiel. You were an inspiration for me to buy a parrot and make him talk :3 thank you :*
She's probaby 36 or 37. However; macaws lifes expectancy is usually around 100-115. So, I'm assuming Jason will be putting Rachel bird in is will lol
Teymur Fatullayev
She passed away 😭
Love it when you two go back and forth about 'how are you?' Really funny

how much do macaws cost?
Approximately £700 to £1200...............(I think)
oh ok does cost vary with color?
In the US, macaws average about $1000-$2000. I heard they cost more in other countries. Some macaws that are rare (like a high yellow hybrid) can cost more. I currently am saving up for my second macaw, which looks like I'll be spending $5k, because of its rarity and loving personality.
oh goodness why do you prefer a macaw over say an African gray

How precious. We have two "Blue and Gold's. We're definitely inspired. What loving babies they are aren't they? Thanks for sharing this with us.
Has she ever bitten you? I have a budgie and I can't trust it 100%. :P
All parrots bite from budgie to macaw. The secret is to learn their body language and learn when you may get bitten then avoid those situations
i would expect anyone to lose her or his finger after a macaw bit him/her
***** My parakeet can not even get out of his stupid cage...
Revontheous Patience, it takes patience to tame a bird.
WishingBabyX It has been 5 years...
Reminds me so much of my nannies bird vegemite! ☺
Miss walking up the drive way and and hearing her say 'hello' 'what cha doing'
And singing cocky dance while dancing hahaha 😂
