So I heard that birds cannot pass gas so giving them anything carbonated is really really bad for them.

Macaws bite their feathers off when they get bored and are left unattended. That’s how you know this bird is very loved.

I've owned birds for 28 years and I see two issues with this situation. First of all that cage is too small for that bird. Most of the time that you see people keeping the calls they are in cages quite a bit larger than that. The other issue is there's no bird light over the cage to provide full spectrum lighting for that animal so it can manufacture vitamin d. But that's just my two cents worth and that's what I do for my animals but everybody's different.

Hey! Some bird tips! Don’t pet the bird on its body, under the wings or on its tail. That can sexually stimulate the bird and then make them aggressive. Instead, let them on the neck and head. Also try to upgrade the cage to a walk in aviary, the smaller cages can make the bird stressed because they can only stretch their wings in a small cage, and it’s not good for the mental/ physical health. they could start plucking. Edit: Try training your bird to target, step up, and eventually try teaching your bird to free fly, so that if the bird does fly away, they will know how to come back. It’s also great exercise for the bird and training is also a bonding moment between you and the bird. Try to research and understand behavior before training though. I recommend watching Birdtricks because that channel has a lot of good information on how to handle parrots such as macaws! Camaro is beautiful by the way!

I was raised with a parrot as my sister, also i have seen them in the wild, i know you love Camaro, and you take good care of him, but, you could check Mikey the macaw & friends channel, even Mia learned to fly and they build cages and aviaters, amazing stuff, macaws like Camaro.

Clipped Parrots can still fly !! Man you got to.You must talk with some expert Parrot keepers. They will not judge you, they want the best for all birds. Because clipping a Parrot's wings is so very much more potentially dangerous if your Bird were to take flight for any reason. He might likely fly into nearby danger or right into a lethal place then realise he can't fly properly and not have the confidence nor ability to fly himself out of danger and back to you, his trusting bonded owner. Your handsome Blue And Gold Macaw; really it is now seen as outdated and unattractive to cut his wings off. He's a Bird that in the wild would fly. You could easily teach him to fly and return straight right back onto you - awesome !Most Vets just don't know that they don't know so, please take him to a Specialist Bird Vet. Parrots do get damaged and even killed through lack of knowledge. Rather than clip him get a harness to take him outdoors. I am surprised this Vet you have who obviously is in the dark would do this to your beautiful clever Parrot. Jesus HC My God. Honestly there are much better ways. I have never even thought about doing this to Basil my 35 year old Blue And Gold. I walk him literally everwhere, like in the centre of Town through traffic and crowds of folks and kids and Dogs. He sits on my shoulder and simply does not want to leave. I had him from very young and trained him. It was easy. I might train him to fly again but would have to harness him for the training period. Then guage how he is to see if he always would need a harness. He's happy and a totally complete Bird. Don't go back to that Vet. Please talk with someone such as Bird Tricks or other Parrot Trainers. For the benefit of you and Camaro.

Why you people think its OK to clipthese birds wings is discusting! If you actually spent alot of time with your bird and train it to free fly or harness train it don't clip its wings birds are ment to fly you idiot. Discusting you don't deserve a macaw!..

As a Camaro owner, I think you made the right choice. Absolutely love Camaro but I know I couldn't take care of a Macaw properly and I think my first bird is going to be a Senegal or a Caique. Conures are beautiful but they scream and I don't need that lol.

Get him a bigger cage. You're not suppose to feed them any caffinated drinks, including soda. And you're not suppose to trim their wings. You can if you're an asshole, but loyal and smart owners spend the time training them to fly. God fucking damn don't accept this bird if you don't know anything about what you're getting yourself into

Macaws are not like “puppy dogs”. In fact, they are much more intelligent. He does not want to be upstairs in a room listening to music... They are family! His feathers are not looking well as he looks like he needs a bath and sunlight. You stroking his feathers with your hand is NOT good either. These birds are not something you impulse buy without any knowledge! Clipping feathers do not stop flight either.

Once you opened that prison/cage he was out of there like a rocket. As he is part of your family why is he locked away upstairs where he is isolated. He should be part of the family. If you do t like him around there are plenty of rescues that will find him a good home. He is not a token to be brought out for the camera an then put away again. Those of you who don't like the truth on how to care for these beautiful animals then don't have them or use them for showing off. I can see his is a trophy for you but I also see him shut away upstairs which is cruel.
