I set up an Apple Wifi in my home 10 years ago with the router installed in my basement closet and we had a great signal on all 3 floors of the house and all the way out to our pool area.
You have no idea how much i should be thanking you right now. Bro you just saved my streaming career with this, Over and over i kept in stream.. now this situation is TRULY dealt with.. thank you so much!!! even my phone is faster because of these settings!
just got a nighthawk ac router and i am trying to confiugre the setting and cannot access this portion of the wifi setting since the nighthawk app doesnt give this support and the genie is no longer available. how do i access this or get to this window on my pc?
My 2.4 ghz channel is changing automatically. We have baby monitors and they require 2.4 - I’ve set it to 6 and when I notice they start to disconnect I’ll go on and check the channel and it will be set to a different one. Like tonight they disconnected for a moment and the channel changed to 7 instead of 6 Any solutions??
didn't hear your name but thank you very much, getting my new nighthawk in a week going from a netgear, so, again thanks, maybe you could make a video on wiring the modem and the wifi, am some what new so every ounce of knowledge is helpful, thanks
Great video-been having issues with 2.4 saying no internet connection and constantly dropping 5G service. Making your suggested changes and hoping it helps me out!
How would you associate preamble with smart bulbs? They are only 2.4ghz WiFi, and while basic devices can also have really crappy controllers. I was mainly curious as in my setup if I'm going to have WiFi issues, it's typically going to be with a smart bulb. I don't own a Netgear router, I recently bought myself an Asus RT-AX86U (Gundam edition, Zaku II) My lights are stable finally, but I was just curious how some of these settings would affect devices of this type, and if they need anything specific.
i have the r6850 and when gaming using the lan cable i disconnect 24/7 like my internet just quits working for 2 minutes then kicks back on ive already followed all the steps in the video and this happens on all my devices but its really noticeable when i get kicked mid game also this only happens on 5g and lan cable the 2.4 never has problems but i cant use it because everyone in my house uses it
hey im thinking about getting a new router i have a Nighthawk X6 R8000 at the moment but i am looking for something newer and better. I am also wondering if there are any powerful router out now that can take around at least a dozen devices being connected to it at once and still run smooth but if that's not possible or its something you would change in the ip website(like maybe idk making it so one or more of your connected devices is locked in the full flow of internet power.) thanks so much for having a great channel and vids and also for taking the time to read this and help me out. im open to you letting me which routers are the best. P.s. i dont really need to worry about WIFI for gaming because i have both my pc and ps5 Lan connected to the router.
Every router has pros and cons. I'm a really heavy gamer and I prefer anything with DumaOS. The Geofilter feature is a lifesaver. Well at least for most games.
Netgear has a partnership with netduma that allows some of their routers to use DumaOS. Netgear Nighthawk XR routers XR500 XR700 XR1000. All good routers I own the XR500. Customer support and bug fixes tend to be a bit slower. NetDuma has the NetDuma R2 which is their proprietary router with their software built in. Their stuff gets updated quicker because they're the ones who make the software. It still takes time though. I own an R2 as well. I have my netduma R2 running my Netgear nighthawk xr500 as an access point. This seems to be the best overall setup currently. So you could use your nighthawk X6 for Wi-Fi and the NetDuma R2 for all of your gaming and networking needs.
2.4 does not reach 'further' than 5ghz. The way the signal propagates through walls and other obstacles is more effective than 5 simply due to the frequency of the signal but it has nothing to do with distance. Also, your explanation on how to choose an optimal channel has absolutely no factual basis.
Instead of bullshitting, why do you not grace us with your knowledge? You could for instance dispute some settings and argue against them? You are sadly what is wrong with todays world.. damn dude
Thanks so much!!!!!! Everything works great now!
HT160 is to allow 160Mhz connection instead of 20, 40, or 80Mhz on wireless network adaptor that support it.
Smart connect is such useful feature. I suggest to enable it to avoid two ssid and keep changing manually from one to other
Hi, thanks for video. You mentioned you have a wifi that can have the wifi turned off on a schedule, what brand was that? 8:12

Changing to low preamble sorted out my PS5 remote play lag issues 👍🏼

Dude… I went from 27 mbs to 147… all because of the channel being set to auto originally. Thanks!
I can’t switch to short preamble, it’s greyed out for me. Any suggestions?
Don't worry about it.

great video!! quick question, should i have OFDMA enabled??? thank you!
Yes you should enable ofdma.
Should someone keep OFDMA turned on? I know it's new and all

I tried to change the 5G channel to what you have and it told me to get the best performance keep it between 149-161... any thoughts on that?
You should keep the top channels unless you see your Wi-Fi disconnecting.
How about ideal LAN settings for streaming ? Thanks
LAN settings using a DumaOS router?
What about setting up vpn?
No plans for a vpn video as it won't help with gaming.
I have a nutduma R2 a lot of these setting are not there that I know of, should I? What am I missing.
R2 video coming in the future.
@@LowPingKing cool thank you
i followed all the steps it just booted me offline and got rid of my nighthawk internet from all my devices
Possibly preamble. Switch to Long.
Doubled my 2.4G speed, thanks!
Xboxes also prefer 20mhz disabling will cause old devices to overlap therefore causing interference

Finding the best channel for the environment is the most important one. You can try the other steps and see if they work.
I am only connected to my router but I can’t get into the website
Over WiFi?
Every single guide seems to be outdated completely, not sure how to navigate anything when what seem to be there has been renamed and moved elsewhere.
How do i get to the websiteee thoooo
Do you mean login to the router?

The IP address of the router.
Bruh 🤣 Seriously yall need to know at least the basics before purchasing a router. Accessing the gui should be common knowledge by now
@@hamajangz9586 You don't know what you don't know. Ya know?

No probs with 5ghz on xr500 i can use mine at the end of my street
Nighthawk router won’t let me switch to short preamble.
Same on rax29
Odd. Wouldn't worry about though.
Update: was able to chang it by logging into the router on my pc. 100%
