Oh well, looking forward to Best Waifus (Fair Lady FTW!). NOT looking forward to Best Booties because I know it's going to turn into a total joke list and you're going to put Stray Demon at #1 for lulz, blah.
LeadFaun I just hated the lack of visibility, and being a non-magic build my only solution was the skull lantern, which removed my shield. That combined with the already maze-like design of the area and the annoying dog-skeletons just made me dread going there every playthrough. I will say that Nito is at least a better boss battle than Seath, but they both kind of suck so that's not saying much.
LeadFaun Don't get me wrong, he looks awesome, but I dislike the ring design of the boss arena, and I especially hate all the skeleton minions. They would always respawn constantly and pester me while Nito would charge his AOE attack, which combined with the small amount of running space just made the fight a hassle for me. Not a difficult boss overall, just irritating.

Valley of Defilement is a really good world, not the best looking, but perfect for speedrunning it and I got my first Ephemeral Eye drops there. The path is just so simple I didn't really use a bow or health regen (I only use bow on dragons/Maneater 1), just black grass and a BBS, and ran to the middle of each section of land they were standing on. At least it didn't have keys/elevators like Latria did, also yeah you can't use melee properly in some parts of Latria so you can't lock in to the enemies near cliffs or they fly away and you fall in, just bait them if you use melee though.
I would say that 3-2 beats 3-1 to a pulp. And it really comes down to 3 things 1: The enormous "heart" that you have to drop made me feel absolutely weak. Its size and the manner with which it seems to be worshiped makes me feel insignificant and terrorized. 2: The cages which take you to the bottom. Never in a game where you are on height comparable to mountains, yet walking on thin bridges have i ever imagined that i would end up exploring the bottom. The speed with which the cages move made me feel like i was travelling miles and miles deeper into the depths of hell that is the area. Blood lakes, bugs that would give you nightmares, huge tentacles just moving around passively and most importantly:darkness. Without you to bring light to the place with the augite, this place is a pit of neverending torment and darkness that you cannot even see from atop the pillars. It is without doubt the scariest and most intimidating experience in my life....those goddamn cages.
This channel in future: ranking the swords in souls series; ranking graphics in souls series; ranking the sounds in souls series; ranking the bushes on the areas in souls series etc.
Your complaint about the Shortcut to Flamelurker does kinda invalidate itself when you are going the wrong way.... Also, you accidentally named Area 1-2 "Adjudicator Archstone", when it is Phalanx's.
3-1 is just a no-no from me, most tedious part imo, the only good thing is freke Also 4-1 and 4-2 are of my favorite levels in the series and the valley of defilement was super easy too, just regen and be cautious
@@nuculaisvoidwalker5866 they aren't tedious, just use stealth to your advantage or shoot them at a range. Just because you have to take your time, doesn't mean it's tedious
honestly, i was looking forward to the area lists. while the bosses are delightful and dreadful, they were where i spent the least amount of time. the zones teach you how to play and reward you for exploration. we all have our comfort soul farming zones where it was productive to safely try new toys, through hours of repeated confident building murder. I have great memories of being able to drunkenly farm stones and souls from the bear bugs after i beat flame lurker and was afraid of going past him because he was crazy back then and i wanted to farm for what was to come...
I hate every area except for first levels of Boletarian Palace and Shrine Of Storms. The first level of Tower Of Latria used to be my favourite but in my second playthrough, trying to find my way was a hellish nightmare. I still very dig the atmosphere. And Shrine Of Storms has some very cool enemies and areas.
I understand the 5-1 hate to a degree, but to me that level is just sooooo atmospheric and the level is just so interesting that it's personally one of my absolute favorites in the series. The only levels I hate are 4-2 and 2-2.
I love all the games somewhat equally but I definitely have always liked Demon Souls the least. I could never pinpoint why until I saw this video and realized that I just couldn't stand almost half the areas in the game. My personal list for the worst 5 areas are: 5. Tower of Latria (3-1) [ Shocked this was rated so highly] 4. Adjudicator Archstone (4-2) 3. Leechmonger Archstone (5-2) 2. Armored Spider Archstone (2-2) 1. Stonefang Tunnel (2-1) On a postive note, I felt Boletarian Palace was by far the best starting area in the series.
Since there won't be a list for best and worst areas for the other souls games, I'm just gonna post my best and worst level and see who agrees or disagrees. Dark Souls Best: Anor Londo Worst: Blightown / Lost Izalith I hate to say it but after Anor Londo, the quality in the level design seems to go down. Even though I hate Blighttown for its weird lighting and toxic sharpshooters, it's actually pretty well designed in some ways. Lost Izalith however doesn't really have anything that elicits joy or wonder from myself. Plus if you're playing on console, the lava textures are such an eyesore. I know bosses shouldn't affect how good or bad an area is, but....Bed of Chaos...need I say anymore? Dark Souls 2 Best: Brume Tower Worst: Iron Passage / Frigid Outskirts Both the Iron Passage and the Frigid Outskirts are just abysmally bad and not fun for me to play. I don't care if they were made for co-op, because even with other players the areas can be frustratingly hard and the bosses at the end are just reskins. Lazy, lazy, lazy. Dark Souls 3 Best: Lothric Castle Worst: Farron Keep I've been through Farron Keep maybe 3 times by now and it still feels it takes forever to put out all the flames and get the items I want. The fact that there's no Rusted Iron Ring or anything like that just makes it drag on even longer. Also, there are enemies like Corvians that are a bitch to deal with when they're enraged and the damn Ghrus who jump on your head and make the camera go ballistic. At least the boss at the end is pretty awesome (if a bit too easy if you know how to parry)
I have one issue, really...you included the under Nexus, but not the place where you fight astraea? as far as design of a boss place, it's pretty big and has some enemies, and it looks cool
Funny, everyone talks about how op ranged attacks are, but I played full melee and did just fine. It's way more fun to get in something's face and learn how to properly dodge and counter rather than be a wuss standing in the back as you snipe something. I like that the option exists, but it's just not as fun to be a magic or bow user.
I'll be honest, I... kinda like 2-1 and 2-2, they may be incredibly long and in the latters even a little frustrating but the amount of stuff buried within these levels is incredible and I always enjoy travelling through the mines to see what I can find. That said fuck the Dragon God.
I enjoyed 3-2 much more than 3-1. Sure, 3-1 was great but nothing beats going through 3-2 for the first time. 2-1 and 2-2 were very interesting to me. Same goes for Valley of Defilement. I found most of the areas to be very interesting, I don't think any of the areas were actually bad.
I I play my demon soul's like this I always choose the Royal class I defeat phalanx I don't even go back to the Nexus I keep going going to beat the tower Knight then I go back to the Nexus all at level one by the way.
Demon Souls is by far the most difficult game in the series. Now I didn't find it to challenging because I had already played the shit out of Dark Souls 1, 2 and 3 so I knew what to expect, but if Demon Souls had been my first outing I could see it being the hardest. Here's Why: 1. Half Health everytime you die (DS2 does a baby version of this) 2. Lack of Checkpoints (Unlike Dark Souls series you get one "bonfire" per area so if you die to a boss you're running the whole area again, as there are rarely shortcuts to the boss) 3. You can't just R1 spam your way through the game (a la Bloodborne or Dark Souls 3 due to non-existent poise) enemies are often faster than you when attacking so you get interrupted alot. Also this is just a personal gripe I have with Demon's Souls but the lack of variety in Weapons/Armor is really off-putting All in all fun game and any souls fan should play Demon's Souls, I got a Ps3 for this one game.
Valley of defilement literally makes blightown look like a cake walk. Aside from the bullshit frame rate and of course the blowgun guys which thankfully dont respawn. The poison blighttown is nothing compared to 5-2. Not to mention Valley is fuckin longer. Id honestly rather play alot more blighttoen with bad frame rate than go through valley of defilement

1: The enormous "heart" that you have to drop made me feel absolutely weak.
Love your videos!
I know this is super late but did anyone notice at 5:25 he put adjudicators archstone for world 1-2.
Democracy i was screaming when your video was uploaded
Your videos are amazing
Hell yes. I've been waiting for this
Your complaint about the Shortcut to Flamelurker does kinda invalidate itself when you are going the wrong way....
Also, you accidentally named Area 1-2 "Adjudicator Archstone", when it is Phalanx's.
I absolutely adore all of Boletarian Palace and Tower of Latria. I agree with 1-3's placement
I really love this game. It’s one of my favorites in the series. I wish more people gave it a chance!
It would help if I didn't have to buy a ps3 to do so
@@randomguy6679 u don't anymore:)
@@randomguy6679 just emulate it on pc
I bought a used PS3 just to play it lol. Then I got it on PS5 a couple years later
What sword did he use at 1:00?
Dragon Longsword
Leider Hosen thx d00d
I'm disappointed that u won't rank the areas for dks1, dks2, and dks3. I was rly looking forward to it.
2:20 I defeated Flamelurker on my first try in my offline playthrough, after many days of shitting myself and chickening out of fighting him
Man watching this now that the remaster is out, my god hahah
Love the vid man keep up the good work and if you can can you help me with the bloodborne DLC
daddy demod back again with more amazing content
This became very helpful once again.
"Pain in the Stray Demon" Oh god do I love you.
Are you still going to be ranking the games themselves? I've been super excited for that!
I wish your videos came up more than once a week FeelsBadMan
I've never had any issues with world 5 but I guess because I'm using Yurt armor which lowers the effects of the swamps.
If you want more lists, after areas you should do top10 best/worst weapons in soulsborne.
#1= whirligig saw
Moonlight Sword #1
Beast Claws
O.G. Loki just no
why? I've downed Ebrietas in literally 10 seconds with them
3-1 is just a no-no from me, most tedious part imo, the only good thing is freke
Also 4-1 and 4-2 are of my favorite levels in the series and the valley of defilement was super easy too, just regen and be cautious
How was 3-1 tedious?
@@randomguy6679 jailkeepers dear necromancer
@@nuculaisvoidwalker5866 they aren't tedious, just use stealth to your advantage or shoot them at a range. Just because you have to take your time, doesn't mean it's tedious
I'd love to see the OG Dark Souls areas ranked. Even if you don't do 2 or 3.
honestly, i was looking forward to the area lists. while the bosses are delightful and dreadful, they were where i spent the least amount of time. the zones teach you how to play and reward you for exploration.
we all have our comfort soul farming zones where it was productive to safely try new toys, through hours of repeated confident building murder.
I have great memories of being able to drunkenly farm stones and souls from the bear bugs after i beat flame lurker and was afraid of going past him because he was crazy back then and i wanted to farm for what was to come...
Couldn't watch this earlier cause i was playing DeS for the first time but now I'VE BEATEN THE FALSE DRAGON AND I CAN WATCH THIS BOOYEAH
My personal list for the worst 5 areas are:
5. Tower of Latria (3-1) [ Shocked this was rated so highly]
4. Adjudicator Archstone (4-2)
3. Leechmonger Archstone (5-2)
2. Armored Spider Archstone (2-2)
1. Stonefang Tunnel (2-1)
On a postive note, I felt Boletarian Palace was by far the best starting area in the series.
I love how the Phalanx stone was labeled the adjudicatos stone
Since there won't be a list for best and worst areas for the other souls games, I'm just gonna post my best and worst level and see who agrees or disagrees.
Dark Souls
Best: Anor Londo
Worst: Blightown / Lost Izalith
I hate to say it but after Anor Londo, the quality in the level design seems to go down.
Dark Souls 2
Best: Brume Tower
Worst: Iron Passage / Frigid Outskirts
Both the Iron Passage and the Frigid Outskirts are just abysmally bad and not fun for me to play. I don't care if they were made for co-op, because even with other players the areas can be frustratingly hard and the bosses at the end are just reskins. Lazy, lazy, lazy.
Dark Souls 3
Best: Lothric Castle
Worst: Farron Keep
I've been through Farron Keep maybe 3 times by now and it still feels it takes forever to put out all the flames and get the items I want.
Honestly I'm kinda disappointed. I mean, I understand, but I feel like I got screwed outta the two games I care about (Dark Souls 1 & 3)
Pastlife17 same
Pastlife17 I completely agree
+1
I think the mistake was doing Demon's Souls next. It's just not as interesting a game to talk about as the others.
It sucks because he did the two souls games that I did not play.
well, my house is git robbed, but this lifted my spirits
I have one issue, really...you included the under Nexus, but not the place where you fight astraea? as far as design of a boss place, it's pretty big and has some enemies, and it looks cool
Funny, everyone talks about how op ranged attacks are, but I played full melee and did just fine. It's way more fun to get in something's face and learn how to properly dodge and counter rather than be a wuss standing in the back as you snipe something. I like that the option exists, but it's just not as fun to be a magic or bow user.
Adjudicator Archstone appears twice. I'm sure you meant for Phalanx to be for 1-2, of course. Not sure if that was pointed out yet or not lol
THANK GOD ANOTHER RANK VID
I didn't find out 5-1 to be bad, i actually kinda liked it, the atmospjere reminded me of fishing hamlet.
Here's Why:
1. Half Health everytime you die (DS2 does a baby version of this)
2. Lack of Checkpoints (Unlike Dark Souls series you get one "bonfire" per area so if you die to a boss you're running the whole area again, as there are rarely shortcuts to the boss)
3. You can't just R1 spam your way through the game (a la Bloodborne or Dark Souls 3 due to non-existent poise) enemies are often faster than you when attacking so you get interrupted alot.
Also this is just a personal gripe I have with Demon's Souls but the lack of variety in Weapons/Armor is really off-putting
All in all fun game and any souls fan should play Demon's Souls, I got a Ps3 for this one game.
Absolutely hate 4-2 the damn rays
You should do a Bloodsouls Regular enemies ranking.
