Okay, tried the cross method at the range today on an extremely stiff M&P M2.0 9mm, and it worked perfectly. Since I didn't take my uplula with, it was a fantastic way to save my thumbs after multiple magazine loadings. 10/10 do reccomend.
I own or have owned many different semiauto pistols from almost every manufacturer out there and by far the hardest pistol mag for me to load is a Sig P320X Compact mag. ALL of the rest is easy as pie for me but the last round in the P320X Compact mag is a bear for me. It is even harder now that I was diagnosed with tongue and throat cancer that spread into my one lymph node in June 2023 I finished my 8 weeks of aggressive chemo and radiation treatment on Oct. 12th 2023 and I am still weak and tired but about once a week, maybe twice on a good week I walk out to my back yard (Rural Ohio) and try to fire 25 to 50 rounds with one of my pistols, mainly my carry gun which is the aforementioned Sig P320X Compact. My stepson just dropped off his new Sig 365 Macro Comp and 100 rounds of 9mm and asked if I would "Break it in" for him and I replied "Most indubitably" but I haven't got a chance to tear his pistol down and clean it before the first round goes out the tube of the P365 but soon, very soon!
That cross method legit just made me feel like I stumbled upon some alien knowledge that is life changing....its totally changed mine! Thank you sir, I am a grateful student and thankful for your Instruction!❤
I just bought ammo for the first time and this is the EXACT thought I’m having 😂😂 “God I hope this bullet doesn’t explode” “if I tap em to hard, will it shoot?” lmao 🤣
Just got my first gun and having the same thoughts 😂 had to come and watch a video thinking I was doing it wrong cause it’s very tuff putting the bullets in
I’ll have to try the cross method. I push down the round in the magazine and put the fresh round in the space I made. But at the range, I’ve found my UPLula to be a godsend.
This is a good channel full of accurate information. You see so many gun channels now wgere it's very apparent the individual is grossly inexperienced and/or misinformed. Thanks for teaching people the right ways.
Thank you so much for getting to the point, and actually explaining how to load a magazine with bullets and stick to the answer in solution. I can’t believe how many videos are out with the same title I talk about something completely irrelevant. And your methods rock.
First time shooting yesterday and struggled the most with the reloading the way I was shown. Left the range, watch this last night, went back to the range this morning, using the cross method worked everytime with ease. Thank you
I don't do it either way that you showed here. I hold the magazine in my left hand and press the cartridge in with my left thumb and slide one in with my right hands thumb
Honestly the most common method I've seen is using the tip of a thumb to push the bullet down enough to slide the next on in, these methods you demonstrated seem way better so i will start using the cross method
I always press the round in the mag down with my thumb, then load in the next round with my other thumb. Thanks for sharing, I've never seen the cross/rotate method before.
That cross method looks useful for getting the first catridge into an M&P9 magazine. For some reason those are finicky to start in a way I've never seen with any other mag.
Holy crap that cross method is amazing. I was loading my new walther pdp and even the speed loader was a pain. I tried the cross method and took me a couple minutes after that. I also have co workers who are newer to guns and im recommending this video to them. Thanks again and happy holidays. Jeff.
@user-ip9fk6yp2z yes. I love my springfield's. I have 5 of them (echelon, hellcat pro, xd, xdm elite and garrison). Congrats on the purchase, ammo wise for conceal carry and/or home defense i would recommend gold dot, hornady critical duty and federal hst (I've always used gold dot but after trying federal hst out i will be switching to federal when i use all my gold dot up).
Ive had to shave the plastic guide on all my M&P Shield Plus magazines to get that last round in. The shield plus was my first gun and i thought i was being a little baby about loading. Now, multiple guns later and they all load way too easy. I always feel like i can shove and extra 2-3 rounds in them lol.. love my Shield with 15 round mag tho. Thats what i carry.
Thank you sir! I am a complete beginner and I thought I just had to tough it out and push harder as I held the magazine in the air in my hand! Pez worked much better for a 7 bullet magazine (m&p 2.0 shield 9, I don't know if there is much of a difference) and I tried the cross with the 8 bullet one which also worked. I just couldn't get the last ones in, thanks again!
Hmm I like the attention to detail. I find the cross method comes in toward the bottom of the mag. Or near the end of range day. When my hands get fatigued
My brain can't wrap around the concept of not intuitively knowing how to load a magazine... although, I was given realistic toy guns throughout my entire childhood, including all metal cap gun revolvers with screw-in suppressors and bolt action rifles with a real working bolt, wood stock, but with an orange tip. I suspect my family was knowingly grooming me to be a gun nut, just so they could scold me for my obsession later.
I usually use a MagLULA UPLOADER. Good to know about the cross loader method. Always used the Pez method. Just didn't know there was a name for the Pez method.
@@johnthefirearmsinstructor Sometimes I need a separate loader. I have a Sig-365 and everybody knows those ten round magazines are fairly stiff. Especially the last few rounds.
Just bought my own gun for the first time and loading the magazine became a pain after about the 11th round. Came out of the range with a blister on my finger. Definitely going to give these methods a try lol
Wow that looks a lot easier than pulling the base plate, spring, and follower out. Putting the shells in is ok but puitting it back together with the ammo in it has always been troublesome.
I've never seen the cross method. I would give this a try. But, I prefer using the maglula. When I'm at the range, I'm there to train for speed and accuracy at various distances. I don't have the time to be messing around with manually reloading the magazine. I used to do this before I discovered Maglula, and I'd go home with a sore ass thumb. Not anymore. But, that's just me. 😂😂😂😊😊
Thanks for coming that is a helpful tool. Just remember you may not have that tool or you may lose it. You still gonna know how to load the magazine with your sore thumbs thanks for commenting
My walther ppq q4 all three mags load buttery smooth but my 43x that last round can be a pain.usally use the ez loader to get that last one in.now the el cheapo rock island takes its 10mm pills fairly easy
I'd say just make sure you're in front of the lips in the back obviously. Other than that its important to find the center of the spring so the follower doesn't twist at all. That always makes it harder.
Hey I have alot of experience with fire arms but getting a new glock and trying to load the mag had me scratching my head bcs I did it right but after a few I was giving it my all and it wasn't working so ur video helped and thanks for not being a dick I kno loading a mag should be common sense but them spring suck
@@johnthefirearmsinstructor what’s scary are the amount of people in the Navy that failed pistol and shotgun qualifications in basic. It wasn’t mandatory so their are plenty of military members that can barely put a round on paper.

The cross method might come in real handy on a new mag with a super stiff spring. Definitely trying that one out next trip to the range!!

I just bought a cheap mag loader so that my wittle fingies don’t get sore after a long day of shooting
How many rounds are you really shooting in a day? I do max 200 and get sick of shooting. Of course, it's heavy on the pocket too.
