Living in China 13 years, I saw Chinese new and old apartment owners completely transforming their new property into their preferred style, rejecting what was already there. They call it “decorating”.
What they do, they destroy everything, chopping the marble from the mountains, digging the porcelain from mother earth, and so on to change their new acquisition.
I have seen a brand new $2000 toilet broken on the street, pieces of concrete walls polluting the ground, electrical fixtures, broken ceramic tiles, and more in front of so many apartments where the new or maybe not new, owner, wanted a “decoration” change.
When I heard the parents of one of my Chinese friends, telling me in an embarrassing way that they didn’t do anything to their new place, I understood that it is in the Chinese culture. We already know that it is a tragedy that the CCP doesn’t encourage to respect animals, but I saw that they also ignore the fact that the primary matters that took millions of years to be formed by the planet are going to be out of stock soon.

In my country we have no factory farms, we don't skin alive, boil alive, eat alive or torture animals as common practice. People that do anything like that are jailed and punished. That's insane. Me and my wife bought a townhouse 3 years ago in Canada where Canadian. A year after we moved in a removed a fake wall and floor in the basement which separated a bedroom and a small woodworking room. To make one large rec room which we use everyday. I put down a floating lament hardwood floor on top of the concert. We still haven't painted the room its mismatched we kinda like it that way, tells a story.
The next work we did was the 2nd floor washroom because we had water damage. Did a complete renovation because are contractor had to take the tub and toilet out. Half the floor had dry mold and was flaking to the touch. Are contractor put a new subfloor on top of the old floor so it raised are floor up. We replaced the tub with a large soaker tub and he redid the seal for the toilet and we kept the toilet as he said it was fine and fairly new. There was nothing wrong with the tub other than the fact I'm 6'1 and didn't fit well. The new tub is 6 inch's deeper and 2 inch's wider much better for me. We also pulled out the vanity and put in a new free standing vanity. The old vanity i screwed a piece of plywood to the back of it and put it in are backyard. Its now being used as outdoor storage. We only throw out the old tub, construction waste from the repairs and renovation.
We went with a renovation because there was already 3 thousand dollars worth of water damage. And allot had to be pulled out already. So we paid an extra 2 thousand in materials to renovate on top of fixing the water damage. The renovation happened because of the water damage and we show it as a opportunity to change the washroom to fit are style without being wasteful.
Now are kitchen floor lamit flooring looks like it needs to be replaced its starting to pull up and displace in areas. And i suspect some water damage may have occurred. Where thinking of getting the floor redone with the same flooring as in the 2nd floor bathroom which is 100% waterproof.
And i think that's what sets Canadians apart is I'm waiting for when something needs to be done because of functionality and adding renovationing on top of it. I believe that's the best way to do home renovation and is the least wasteful.
I came across a video of some Chinese lady taking pearls out of a giant clam. My mom wanted to watch it, but got so pissed because the lady cut the clam apart for the pearls and threw it away afterwards. 😨

The Chinese had to build roads and more cars to keep up with the demand of the US and the world, all the traffic is also polluting the air, the energy for the factories and the infrastructure and the cars have to be produced, this also pollutes the environment. I live in a growing town in California called Irvine. over the past few years the city has completely been taken over by the Chinese. Almost all people i walk by are wealthy Chinese people. Most of my neighbors are Chinese as well. The city has slowly been engulfed by pure Chinese culture and it will likely increase in the years to come. All the housing prices have gone up due to wealthy Chinese people moving in. It is very sad that such a peaceful town full of all sorts of cultures has been ruined!

On a trip to Taiwan I was asked the same question by a young driver/assistant..."do you have blue sky and sunshine where you're from?" I have been checking the real data about polution in the world and real data says UK and USA have been contaminating the world since industrial revolution, China has only 30 year developing their country and industry. you have no idea about modern industry system like most people
first of all, China workers are not cheap, they made around $700 per month which is decent considering currency exchange rate and living cost in China
Secondly, other than China, NO other Country in the world has systematic industry could do the job well with decent cost, all the big factories wanted to move from China to India or other south east countries like Vietnam or Thailand, they either failed or only have small portion of capacity there because of that.
China spent last 30 years to build up everything and all you guys can see is cheap labor force, pathetic
Last but least, there is nothing called "you allow it", you have to. Otherwise your would easily double or triple your current living cost which I doubt you could afford : )

I am Hungarian and I was working with Africans from Ivory Coast, Senegal, Tanzania. They already told me this problems what you are talking about here. It is a suprise for me to know this stuff and I just realized this has been mentioned to me by the African guys before. They also said it is nothing they can do to stop them. The gov. let them do this, so what can they do? Also they were complaining that generations were living from fishing, but not anymore. The families are not allowed to go out fishing because some chinese company bought all the sea shore and they do the fishing.

A few years ago a family from Bejing moved into our neighborhood. They still have their home in Bejing because the dad works from there. He flies here a lot to see his family. The mother and I were sitting at her patio table one summer day and I asked her why they moved here. She said they wanted to establish residency here so the girls could go to college here. Then she got quiet and said just look at the blue sky and listen to the silence. I said uh... don't they have this in Bejing? She smiled to herself and said to me NO!!! After seeing this video and seeing some of the comments I now understand.

The upside is that we have little seismic/volcanic action except in our neighbours to the north and east across the Tasman. But we have a small populace.
