Started getting into sardines after watching the NURI canning documentary. My parents ate them, now I’m 40, it’s the first time I bought sardines. I think the shiny skin puts some people off…but seems like a very underrated fish/protein source. Cheap, nutritious, long shelf life, low mercury.
Excellent video. I also save all of my fish oils and when I make an Asian dish that calls for fish oil I have it! A simple meal of rice, sardines and kimchi is a fast go to for me♥
Great ideas!.. Thank you... A little good olive oil and a splash of red wine vinegar is a good and very simple alternative to grocery store salad dressing...
Omg, I tried the sardine cake recipe and it was seriously soooo good. Never was a huge fan of sardines but I absolutely love this recipe, will probably try to recreate it with canned salmon or tuna again!
I hate taking supplements so I LOVE how sardines have everything ppl generally are advised to supplement (vitamin D, DHA+EPA omegas. calcium, iron!!) and they're delicious! Loved the fish cake recipe, you should try making a "spicy tuna" sushi roll with brown rice and sardines instead of tuna (with turnip and carrot slivers... too good!)
I just tried them from the can. I was scare and even nervous buying them, first time eating this and I'm in my 30's. They are pretty damn good. I felt like an Alpha lion eating the fish whole straight outta the can.
Great recipes. Trying to eat more sardines because of their health benefits (including low mercury content) and ordered one dozen Wild Planet lightly smoked sardines (in EVOO) along with a dozen Matiz Wild Sardines in Spanish Olive Oil (which have a good reputation). I have tried eating them from the can with dijon mustard and Swedish rye crips. That's a very good (and simple) approach to sardines but sardines by themselves have a very strong flavor profile which is not for the faint of heart. I liked the first recipe flaking the sardines (for some reason I had never thought of flaking sardines), adding celery, capers, etc., and pairing them with avocado, all of which tended to mute the strong flavor of the sardine just by itself and made a very appetizing dish. Thanks for sharing your discoveries!
Thank you! Ive never had sardines before unless in a premade caesar dressing. Im scared to try lol but i want to better my health and your recipes will be my first taste test to sardines ❤ thank you for sharing!!
I like sardines. I eat them regularly. But I'm telling you, the sardine patties are NEXT-LEVEL! So good! Do yourself a favour and make them. I doubled the recipe and now I have lunch for tomorrow! Better still!
Excellent! I stocked up on canned sardines and herring before Dollar Tree raised their prices. Now I have wonderful recipes to add variety. Love the patties. My mom used to make Salmon patties and I loved them. Now can use Sardines or Herring. Also, sardines are great for a keto diet on high in Omega 3 fatty acids. If I eat a can on any given day, I dont take my Omega 3 vitamin. I use almond flour for my patties. Will have to try the coconut flour. Thank you 2 years later after you posted this video.
I used to live in Cincinnati (and frequented Columbus) and purchased my eggs from Copia! They were amazing eggs with such vibrant yolks. I moved to Hilton Head Island in January and have been missing Ohio so much! 😭 Drink a buckeye iced latte from Stauf’s for me!!
Ahhh that's amazing Megan!!! Girl I wish I could go to Stauf's right now, but they're closed with the quarantine order right now ☹️ Hopefully soon! Enjoy Hilton Head! 😎

Thank you for the recipes. The first 2 I've kind of done my versions of, BUT those burgers hellz yeah. I love smoked fish and smoked sardines are everywhere. I was first put off by the looks, but now its all good.
While I couldn't watch whenever you put food into your mouth---an issue I've had all my life, and I don't know if there's even a name for it---I do like your recipes, and now have at least three to use sardines in. I had them today for the first time in my 70 years of life. I chose to go with boneless, skinless, and it was fine. I made a big, crunchy, crisp cabbage/kale/carrot+ salad, made my own blue cheese-guacamole dressing, using the olive oil from the can of sardines to thin the dressing out a bit, added the 'dines, sliced almonds, tiny bits of super crunchy onions from a packet in my salad kit, and about 1/3 of a 15 ounce can of dark red kidney beans. I also added one Tablespoon of nutritional yeast, which makes salads so good, and I put crumbled blue cheese on top of it all. BOY, was that good, and filling, and I don't even know if I tasted the sardines. I just know it all went so well together, I'm going to make it again for my Sabbath meal this Saturday.
I am so excited and happy to have found your recipe Jordan! My sister gifted me about a dozen sardine cans a couple of days ago. Because she buys things in bulk but she and her husband don't like seafood, but she knew I have started eating cleaner and healthier. Anyways, I have a bunch of sardine cans unopened and knew that I got to try them. Now thanks to you I can add three new recipes to my Recipe Ideas. Yes, I will add your name and channel link to it so that I can come back for more! ❤️❤️❤️
Jordan, I always appreciate your tips and recipes! Thank you so much! And I've been wanting to find a way to incorporate sardines in my diet so this is super helpful. I'm wondering though if can post the recipes? Maybe you have and I'm just not finding it??
I was attempting tuna and salmon patties but they were too loose and falling apart when I picked them off skillet--- now I know to add coconut or almond flour---- thx!!!!
Loved the video but really really wish you would link to a recipe, so frustrating to have to keep replaying to get all the ingredients and amounts. Why no link to the recipe??
Ever had a ideal that bugs ya? Bugs ya, and keep on bugging ya? This is it.! Deep fried sardine. YOU HEARD CORRECT! DEEP FRIED SARDINES. Sardines, these was package in La. Hot Sauce. OMG IT YUMMY all i did was coat them in cornstarch and Deep fried them. put them on a towel and salt them YUMMY These was package in La. Hot sauce YUMMY
I am a total and complete sissy when it comes to spice, so I respect your love for got sauce but I am going to try this with a milder cocktail sauce so I don't actually ignite (lol!!) ❤ Thank you for this idea! Love from GA!🎉
I am new to sardines and nervous. These are great ideas. One thing I encountered was what appeared to be spinal bones in my sardines. There were a lot and hard to get out (and repulsive). Is this common with canned sardines? Any hacks to deal with this?
I buy the Seasons brand boneless and skinless, they are so versatile and can be made into sandwiches to replace tuna. There are other brands of skinless and boneless, it saves alot of time if you are fussy like me
perfect meal, that salad. its complete. I love it.

We love them simple: rice, sardines with a drizzle of lemon, and veggies
Sounds delicious! Simple is always the best 🙂

I'm going to make the patties for sure, but the salad looks great too.

canned mackerel is pretty good for that recipe too. I've never seen anyone do it with sardines, but I don't know why LOL! It sounds good LOL!
Waddel rings a bell. I once had a great friend at prep school. He introduced himself as D. O. Waddel. Hahaa... a very funni guy... Hahaa
I’m also a waddell. It’s not a name you ever really see. We’re a rare breed. 😂
Very much obliged for the sardine patty recipe. You finally made it palatable to me.

I mix sardines in my scrambled eggs with any leftover veggies I have. The sardines give it kind of a smoky taste.

I'm really interested in the sardines patties. I will definitely be making those patties
Can you suggest something to substitute for the sun-tried tomatoes in the recipe? Excellent video.
