  • Fisherman's Eggs: Sardines and eggs are the best protein sources available and this recipe puts them together. You don't have to limit this dish to time of day as it works great for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. I like to add bell peppers, lemon, and parsley to make this an amazing nutrition source.
If it matters, this dish is low carb, keto friendly and paleo friendly for recipes.

    Recommended sardines if you need*:
These sardines are better than mainstream grocery store ones in quality and taste, but without breaking the bank like rare gourmet cans.

Canned fish and eggs are always a good idea. FYI, some canneries steam or fry the sardines before they are canned.

In all my (apparently sheltered) 70 years I had no idea there were 'recipes' with sardines. In my very early years my dad always ate sardines from the can with really cold beer and I tried it too with him. It was kinda tradition when I visited him and I thought that was the only way! haha. Today I looked in the cupboard and found some cans of sardines and decided to see if anyone cooked with them! and Voila! Here you are, and thank you so much! New sub.

Wow, that makes me feel really good. Although, I do enjoy them like your dad did as well with a cold beer! I'll be making more sardine recipe videos soon... but here is another I made recently called "Sardines Two Ways" (hope you enjoy):

Simply incredible! I just returned from Publix at 7am today cause I saw a similar recipe last night. In short, I made the other recipe (adding mushrooms, red onion, garlic, arugula), and it was great BUT when I saw you add the fresh lemon I was like "of course! why didn't I think of that!". Also, I used my air fryer and a glass bowl since my pan is not 100% steel/iron. Slightly more convenient but less aesthetically pleasing than a skillet :)

Hi Hannah! Agreed, for some it is an acquired taste. Also, some people have been turned off by poor quality canned sardines. In the video & recipe description, I made some sardine recommendations. You may like the one with lemon essence.

The problem with this is that the onions and bell peppers should be cooked first and separately from the fish. The way he does it will dry out the fish unnecessarily. The fish needs zero cooking because it’s already cooked. He mentions this alternative at 4:20, but this “alternative “ is the best way to do it. And told me you like dried out sardines. Overcooking sardines is a waste.

    • @marianmurphy5385

It does look delicious though. I think I’ll try the stovetop method, to cook the veg first and probably add some cauliflower rice, then add the eggs and put a lid on frying pan for a few minutes.
