forgot to add if you put oil cap in upside-down the 3 holes won't line up. You could lead to some engine damage if the oil cap 3 holes are not lined up with the holes in the case. If you flip upside-down it will still mount but the 3 holes won't line up and won't properly filter oil. Also could lead to serious problems.
@Xr Pals when you take off the cap double check the holes facing to the side make it back into the same holes inside the filter housing, should be 3. Or the oil isn't going to make it through the filter.
the manual says to do this it gets all the oil out, just hold in kill switch according to the manual. I do agree he should have washed it down and cleaned up areas a bit better.
Honda recommends Honda oil. It's the never-ending question. Everyone has an opinion based on their personal experiences or which person they chose to listen to. Motul makes a great product. You will be fine regardless, just make sure it's the correct weight.
@@PartzillaParts im reading that Motul ETECH 100 is in the top 3 for dirtbikes and comes in 10W40 the motul offroad doesn't come in 10W40 it comes in 5W40 and 15W40 so I wouldn't try it in my bike and the Motul 300V is for street bikes.

@@coleanderson9298 yes you can run 10w-40 through both sides you just gotta make sure its the right kind. even says right in the manual. you can use Pro honda GN4 10w-40 for both sides and thats what my Honda dealer also recommended me to use
What happens if i fill my oil just above the “h” for peace of mind , any benefits on long desert rides and should i run the standard 10w-40 im going on desert rides in the heat and want the best viscosity and enough oil so i dont starve it , can anyone help?

Wrong information here the manual states nothing of this orientation in fact I think the cover is shaped in a way you can’t install it upside down.

Idk but people online have talked about the bike having different oil chambers. Like wtf? One seperate for the transmission.

I don't have a bike yet but I'm going to trail ride and replace my oil every 5 to 10 hours so I can get a better lifespan out of the ol Honda

Came here to double check what too torque the bolts too, don't use a synthetic or silicone based oil in transmission 80weight and for engine 10w40

I use HP Honda in my cr250r, the red bottle for gear oil. Works best imo. Id definitely use it on the right side of my 450

Right side is transmission, left is engine oil. Both of the drain plugs are located on the left side by the shifter.

No, don't over-fill. It can cause problems. Just pull the drain plug partially out and allow a little out, and reinsert bolt.

That bolt should never snap under 9ft lbs. Perhaps it was over tightened previously and was stretched to limit.

10W-40 is a good oil viscosity, in some bikes you can run 20W-50 for the extra viscosity
