And this video is precisely why I'm in business. I see it far too often where somebody will follow a TH-cam video such as this and fail because not all needed information was given. These carburetors have a mid body gasket set which gets destroyed from using ethanol fuel. None of that was even mentioned and when people follow these videos and the bike still doesn't run, they assume there's something else wrong and end up spending hours upon hours trying to diagnose something else. Nothing against the guy who did the video but partzilla should have done their research to know that those mid-body gaskets are a problem.
One of the reasons those float bowl screws get stripped is that they are not Phillips screws. They are JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard) as evidenced by a dimple/punch mark on the drive face.
I just had to subscribe because you actually tell people what tools they need also what size each tool are too before you even begin taking anything off, that's something I don't see in a A LOT of videos or even my own owner's manual. I feel like that's gotta be the most important part every videos should include, just that short tool explanation segment can go a long way
Went back into the carb, made a few adjustments, float, throttle sensor (I have NO idea if this affects anything while starting but it was off), cleaned air filter, etc...took 4 kicks after the rework. I let it sit for 4 hrs and it started up on the 2nd kick so life is better.
I love how u didn't show putting the air box boot back into the carb that's the hardest part it's crazy I just spent 2 hours trying to get that boot back on on my 250x and finally got it
Lmao damn & here I was also thinking sheesh it would’ve been nice to see it put back together completely in case there’s also helpful ways go about it. It’s way easier to disassemble than to reassemble any bike that’s for sure! Lmao & having someone else in the shop start this up would’ve made this the greatest carb cleaning video ever.
John I am beginner DIY dad and frustrated. My sons CRF70 stopped running. Symptoms were carb needed cleaning. Ordered parts on eBay. (jets, float valve, float, filter). Decided to just swap jets while I have others soaking and cleaning. Rebuilt no problems…. BUT…. It cranked on first kick and ramped immediately to wide open. I triple checked the throttle pin/sleeve and it’s installed all the way inside knowing the only way it could go in that deep (1 cm below threads) was if the sleeve seated and the pin went down into jet). But still same result. I tried reinstalling several times and the pin/sleeve just appears installed correctly. Throttle has some play but springs back ok, but not perfect. After releasing throttle I can still turn it forward (less throttle) more manually. I then pull cable off throttle grip and reseated cable in hole and down the cable grooves and reassembled guides. Appears to be built correctly. When off carb the pin rises compressing spring on throttle turn but when throttle is released the spring still has some tension and does not appear fully relaxed. Carb is sealed up good to air filter assemble, sealed good to block inlet pipe, etc. all o rings new and in place. Idle screw set to midway. The problem is still there going wide open when idle. I am at a loss. Before I take to shop any ideas? I did buy the new jets 2 years ago and I am curious if I accidentally purchased oversized jets? If my jet port/hole are oversized would the stock throttle pin become to small and act like throttle is always open?
You have the best videos ever... I've been having problems with an suzuku rmz 250, and I rebuilt the carburetor and cleaned it out good, and it's very hard starting and can't keep it going. Shuts off immediately after taking off starter choke. Watching this, I realized acouple things, mainly the needle slide, that plate with the oring, pretty sure I have it upside down, and I think I have the oring wrong on the fuel screw. Plus, I think the hot start is seized, because if I remember right the spring was already compressed and stuck that way, and I noticed that real quick, but thought it was normal, but I new it wasn't. Looks like I'll be taking the carb out again! uhhhg, they're so hard to get the carb out and in too. Thanks alot! Best instructional videos ever!
It is not a baffle plate, it is a vacuum release plate and if it is from 2005 it should have been replaced while you were in there, the slide looked pretty beat up too, if you check the Honda manual you will notice that the service intervals on those items are shorter then one would think they would be. I am just saying
Could you please explain how/what problem will we experience if the baffle plate o'ring gets deformed? I made that mistake and sprayed it before I take the O'Ring out and it is now a bit deformed. Does it allow improper air flow ? what is that o'ring for .. what is its function please
Hi, awesome job, looks preaty same to the 250x I'll try to clean the carb, also I wonder if you know if a 2004 crf230f's carburetor will fit on a 2007?
Great video thanks. My XR doesn’t like to cold start and is actually worse with the choke on. It starts after a while with a tiny bit of throttle. It’s fine after the initial start. Any ideas?
@Partzilla History, the bike sat for 2 years and would not hit when I tried to start it, yes I drained the gas and put in new fuel. Ordered a carb kit, followed your video, checked the valve clearance and decompressor while I had the bike this far down and they checked good. Installed the carb and it's hard to start, has a slight hesitation when I crack the throttle but power is awesome, it's just hard to start, any ideas on what my problem is besides me?
Sounds weird but for my 2008 crf250r I have to twist the throttle 8 times before I kick it when it's cold. Seems stupid as I've never had a bike that I have to do this with but it works.
My carb seems to be sucking air, my boots are all tight. It accelerates well but when holding rpm it gets jumpy, any ideas? Would deforming the oring in the baffle plate be whats wrong, i know i got it with carb cleaner
sir please make video about mikuni tmr sir (explanation, cleaning, tuning or anything), ive got one but struggling with then tuning. its turn on and idling just fine, but on high rpm it kinda stutter real bad :(
So why are you blowing from the fuel bowl jet holes into the carb body???? Doesent that just blow the crud I to the carb?? I've always been told to go opposite flow.. Plus you missed float removal A little DC4 helps the oring on the slide and the wheel axles. Didn't see you blow clear the enricher passage.
Love your video, very helpful! Any idea how to clean the brass tube on the choke circuit passed the jet? Not sure how else to explain it but mines plugged and I have no idea how to get it cleaned out
I feel like this was a missed opportunity to produce a great video. The camera should be focused more closely on the subject matter and stay there. Too many cuts taking the attention away from what's happening.
Tell me one thing why some carburetor have accelerator pump and choke at the same time because accelerator pump do the same thing pump additional fuel to cylinder so it would help in cold start so why choke are there at same time because both work same pump more fuel inside the cylinder..???? Plz reply
Good video. However the card in the video didn't need a full tear down so he went around things others might need/want to see. Kept saying this one looks good so we'll skip it. Show us a full tear down to cover everyone's needs.
I'm sure it's doable, but you'll have a lot of fun trying to get the right air-fuel mixture. Typically, the 450cc carbs dumb too much fuel for a 250cc.
That's big of a difference in cc. You will have more success using a smaller mm carburetor on the 250cc. Check with the carburetor manufacturer for your carburetor sizing.
Bryce hope this is fixed my guess is the drain screw located on the bottom of the carb bowl. If that is not the problem then u possibly changed the float height by accident. I have seen these carbs leak for a second or two when first refiling the carb bowl then stop and work like normal
That was basically the same carburetor the fcr flat slide have all the same internal parts. Also this is not a good example of how to clean a carburetor check out some other videos.
Partzilla thanks can do for your CBR and how tune up the carbs. There are lot of videos but they don't complete like your tutorials. I really appreciate if you could. Thanks
Just don't snap anything... I've learned it the hard way as my hotstart plunger was sitting incredibly hard so i pulled and it snapped the housing so i have to fix the hole now. Rip hotstart
Then It's the spark plug. Spark, compression, fuel and air... If It's none of those then you have something seriously wrong with your engine which you cant fix but a professional

LeThayle I’m interested in the response on removing the carb. My done just bought a 2008 CRF250r and it sat for season. I need to pull out carb for a cleaning and was hoping this video was the answer
@@PartzillaParts I broke a piece of the housing on the hotstart on the carb(stupid i know). Is it better to weld the hotstart hole stuck or put in some screw and air tighten it with silicon?

I've cleaned many jets with a piece of wire. It worked way better than a clogged jet.

If you get a jet cleaning kit or carb brushes, it will have all the tools you need.
What is the steam coming from the bottom of the gasoline carburetor?
Just wondered if it started and something in the carburettor was an issue...??
If this bike sits for any duration of time, the carb is almost always the issue.
Thank you. This helped quite a bit. Had the manual and this. Great combo. JK
How important is the O ring on the baffle plate? Mine is deformed from carb cleaner...
I wonder if this is the same set up as The Honda TRX 450R?

That's a good point. We'll see if we can do a better job of getting to everything so that everybody is covered in the fiture.
Any one else have the slide get stuck at full throttle after this? I had to push that little arm behind the throttle cable to get it to shut
Great video as always.
I wonder if this is the same as the TRX 450R
Excellent tutorial, thank you!
I first learned a carburettor squirted fuel when you lift the slide when it squirted me in the face.
Did it start? Was the carb the problem?
The carb was one of the issues with this bike.

do you recommend the accelerator pump mod?
God trying to find out which jets go where, which he would be more specific and not cut the film to him already had put back the jets
