Mate I have a HUGE day on assault today, my survivability is HUGE, and I even did runs on power fist same thing. I clutched the best I’ve ever clutched on ruthless. No issues. Fast becoming my best fighting class
I use almost the same build with a few exceptions. I swap act of attrition with knowledge of the enemy, & I take precision strike over hammer of wrath. Granted precision strike loses some radius the 100% damage increase can't be overlooked, it also synergizes well with the 15% damage increase you get from knowledge of the enemy. Then the diligence perk gives us 20% more damage on the ground pound, I lean on the ground pound heavily on my build which is why I went with these perks. I'd love for you to give my build a shot & tell me what you think. Deleting majoris with a ground pound & a few swings is so satisfying
You can get a build that excels vs Chaos, that allows to execute Chaos marine right after a Ground Pound. Need need either Block type hammer or that longer Ground Pound Activation for damage and ofc Presision strike and proper perks with dmg vs Majoris (including the one in Relic tier for hammer). I would rather have 2 different loadouts for Tyranids and Chaos, but if I have to choose one, I take this 'majoris executioner' to be able to deal with multiple Chaos Marines without losing health
What jarrred me when leveling up Assault and the Thunder Hammer was the reverse progression when it comes to speed. I'd already seen all the comments "Assault Bad" "Thunder Hammer too slow" etc but was totally enamored with it and even carrying level 22-25s (getting 14-18k melee damage with GREEN tier weapon, so good) when I was just 5-7 clearing Average to get out of green tier weapons. Then I went to purple tier....and the speed goes from 5+ to 0+. WTF? Every other weapon I've leveled up gets better over time, either all base stats stay similar with only damage going up or all get incrementally better over time. Going from 5+ speed to 0+ was very jarring. I was loving the infinite light combo to clear trash just like the power stance on power sword but with the 0 speed i was taking so much more damage doing that. Going to Relic Tier finally does recover a huge chunk of that speed but it is still slower than the green tier fencing weapon. I still think the class is way better than people say, I think many are just no good at melee. Ironically I'm using this exact same build character perk wise. I know people talk about how OP Tactical is but if you're good at melee and play Tactical and melee a lot and use the GL (scan on parry perk is so good) then you will see how OP it really is.
I would say the Jump Pack Dodge's biggest obstacle is skill issue, personally, I'm still training myself to be consistent with jump pack dodge's timing, and it doesn't help that those perks were available at lvls 24 to 25
@@kurzor0007 defo skill issue involved but it's also very inconsistent in terms of the proc. Too much hassle for an inconsistent outcome. I have faith they will be fixing all this sort of stuff very soon!
@PhaseShifter my training method right now is to use BLOCK weapons to remove the safety net that PARRIES provide which forces me to get better at dodgin 🤣
Just wanna hop in to suggest taking the top row perk after the minoris bonus damage on TH instead of the pommel 50% increase. Pommel damage are super low (0.5 damage scaling), so you're better get more damage on majoris in general.
@@PhaseShifter we you saying by using pistol strikes to get armour back, that move never changed always gave a pistol strike and amour on that back, it was the parry on miniors that changed. Easy enough mistake to make
as an fyi, even with the +50% damage on pommel strike it's actually weaker than a standard light (from memory my test yielded 23 damage for a pommel strike with that perk and 29 for a light - against a nid devourer - with whatever perk arrangement i had at the time), would not recommend that perk... especially when combined with the +20% minoris damage its in a weird spot where pommel strike isnt enough to kill a full health minoris but sometimes deals too much damage to get a consistent gunstrike when u need it...

After watching your live stream on Assault and talking to chat, I want to try Assault some more. I'd like to see if I can get the jet pack dash perk line going with any effectiveness.
I tried it T & was unsuccessful, didn't like the way it felt. Couldn't get the "perfect dodges" off often enough. Even ran into a "bug" where the Jetpack damage perk will activate the melta bombs & insta kill you. If you give it a shot let me know how it went bro
Stop making such great videos on my favorite class. Next thing you know it's going to end up like Tactical, everyone runs one and you can only run yours in a premade! lmao let this class suffer, the skill cap for it is insanely high to be succesful and not slow down everyones run.

Assault's gun strike team perk is ridiculously strong and I love it. The way Assault can barrel through chaff enemies easily means meltas are redundant and those other classes can more comfortably wield different weapons for fighting the majoris and extremis threats. Only thing I'd change is give Assault a modest heal perk so he has some self-sustain like Bulwark and Vanguard. They could add it on to a few of the talents that affect the jump pack perks, like the precision ground pound perk healing you for 10% if you collide with at least one non-minoris enemy. For the one with the bigger AOE, add on an effect that heals the Assault for 1% of his max health for each minoris enemy he hits with his ground pound (capped at 10%).
I interpret it to mean that you can easily access Aftershock by just parrying even if you're in the middle of a combo. You can be fighting a group of minoris enemies with your light swings, then go straight into Aftershock merely by parrying once
When you have the right perks for aftershock (it says aftershock gains an additional spin), you hold melee to do aftercharge to do the quick double attacks Double slam refers to melee, hold melee, hold melee Aftershock is hold melee (either release as fast as you can or charge for damage)
mmm i dont think so it depends, because after a light into heavy they are stagger, making parry cancel better if you are planning to charge the bam bam. Dashing there would force you to do the hammer thrust as your next move unless you wait a little more but that defeats the point of dishing out the next move fast cause by then they are not stagger anymore. Dashing would be better to reposition and to get a gunstrike out for your next move if you need armour. I've done the dash but the parry open up a lot of other things. I use the hammer in PvP on assault class and with a bit of map knowledge and some basic understanding of the move set you can absolutely dominate. I’m uploading vids daily and you can see I’m still learning new techniques with this weapon even after hitting max rank. Great vid btw.
How do you use Aftershock in the pause menu it shows a shield break then my melee button in my case it's F. Is Aftershock a heavy while holding a different key.
Playing on substantial farming purple armoury data and "Proven Efficiency" (increases squads gun strike damage by 50%) feels useless....... because no one other than me is parrying!! It's just level 1-10 wanting hard carry so they can upgrade their weapons early, they ethier play overly safe playing sniper and sheathing every fight when they get agro or they they go full on Leeroy Jenkins. I love this game but please brothers.... if your one of those players....... stop!! For the love of the emporor STOP!!
Yeah, that is an issue you can run into! I tend to play in premades so everyone is gunstriking as much as possible! That is a huge weakness of that trait when playing publics though!

Gun strike damage isn't actually effected by the gun you use, so you may consider switching to the one that has more ammo

apollo has it right, I wasn't referring to pommel strike; I was talking about the way they've already the mechanics for armour gain

Why are you doing a combo to get to the double pound?, cant you just hold the charge attack for half a second and just get off a wombo combo?

I feel that. Switching to ruthless actually seemed easier for me cause people were high levels and for the most part knew what they were doing
