Im new to space marine 2. I played the first game on the ps3. And favorit in that game was the giant warhammer. So i picked the assult classe when i unlocked pve. But boy its hard. But i will defently give this class a try
Nice video! And good points, i think your only mistake class perk wise is the the second last one, should pick up each kill restores 10% recharge, this means u get a free jump pack charge when u slam into 10 guants. Also theres a heavy bolt pistol perk called death strike thats currently still bugged and it wont trigger off melee executions. The std bolt pistol has a similar perk which does trigger off executions, please help to report this, we need all the help we can get with this class. Cheers!
Definitely, that 10% recharge per kill is so much better. Even if you don't hit 10 enemies. If you only get 4 gaunts in the slam, that's still 40% instant recharge. That's way better than the passive 20% recharge speed.
Assault main here: if you're keen, you can set up an assault horde clearing perk setup where you take Wings of Flame, Aerial Grace, and Commitment. If you learn to time your jumpack dodges correctly, you can do it infinitely. Take Armour Reinforcment, Consecutive Action, and Perserverance. Use minoris enemies to get the perfect jetpack dodge off. Aim for majority or extremis enemies and hit them with the dodge momentum. This stunlocks them long enough for you to get a charge attack off. That jump pack dash ups your damage by something like 65% on your next melee hits, so smash the enemy with a charged hammer blow. You can generally one shot any majority enemy this way at substantial, and two shot them on Ruthless. I haven't tried it on lethal yet, but it's a lot of fun. You also damage all enemies between where you start and where you finish, and the damage is pretty substantial. In addition, using the jump pack dodge gives you a large increase in your I frames during said dodge, making it more effective at dodging things like sweeping attacks from the carnifex or scarab terminators with power swords. The build isn't the most optimal, but it's probably some of the most fun I've had on the class personally, and its an excellent way to pinball through hordes of enemies from majoris to majoris.
I have been using a very similar build sense I maxed out the class, and it is honestly one of the best builds for assault. I use squad cohesion to minimize the jetpack cool down. If proven efficiency did more damage then I would use it. I have never used the jet pack dodge so I use ascension. It does not do damage but it has a lot of push back and give you some breathing room. I got sick and tired of the millions of dodge videos. none of them were really good. I did try a build that focused on crowds and unlimited jumppack. I used Consecutive Execution sense you actually do that alot with this build. Smiting angel mostly because I wanted the AOE to be large to maximize killing crowds, Then Zealous Blow to give me a shorter jumppack cool down for every kill. I was able to achieve unlimited jumppack but was missing out on a lot of damage and also taking on major isolated enemies broke the unlimited jumppack cycle. It was really good but not my playstyle. I prefer taking on major and extreme enemies.
Uncharged aftershocks shouldn't be a mainstay of your rotation. It deals roughly the same damage as 3 light attacks, its not a dps advantage, its only advantage is breaking block. Aftershocks damage only becomes noticeably better than lights when you charge to the first stage.
I would suggest using ground pound to clear minoris. I have gotten 6 ground pounds in a row during heavy waves with the 10% on kill ground pound regen perk. You can be the crowd clear.
Ive mained the assault since launch and have been looking for something like this for a while now. Nice to see someone finally dive into the assault class and talk about it on an actually indepth level I agree with pretty much all of your observations on the class. Assault is terrible at getting contested health back and its dodge is almost pointless compared to parry They really need to either buff/change its melee weapon perks so it's better at getting contested health back, or they need to make the dodge worth using Preferably both imo
I think hammer is great against Tyranids (for the swing range), Fist is great against chaos (less swarms) and chainsword is a good all arounder. Assault is one of my favorites really dynamic.
I will say with you last point I am using it after lvling 3 other classes, and I feel like a absolute unit. I feel like if i had started with assault i would have hated it.
Doesn't reward you because you cant parry...? You get a gun strike after a "perfect dodge", the same as "perfect parry". I think the real problem is the inability to cancel attack animations with dodge. if they change that I think it'd be on par with parry.
Im here, First class that i max out and i have more then 160 only on assoult . Great video I wanna ask u abug im getting , if i take the double aftershock perk for the Hammer 2/3 of the times It does only 1 . Im the only One ?
Hey man, i just cant get the timing right to make the second hit on the aftershock attack, how do you time it? I’ve gone through a bunch of videos on this class but havent found a single video that address this isssue i have. Any tips on how to time it correctly?
@CarlosRamirez-oq1gc Best chance for getting the second hit in is usually when you don't have aggro. Very rare that you can get a full charged attack ever, I go with the increased charge on weapon perks to get into the animation as quickly as I can. But regardless a lot of times you have to cancel the second hit with a parry to avoid damage. The best way to get it off on your own merit is trying to create a little space, do not over charge and get it off as quickly as the enemy is coming towards you. I mostly use it against packs of incoming enemies running towards me since you take a couple steps forward, you can start it early and they run into both hits.
Step 1 play the game entirely to much =p lol. You can level each gun individual with xp. Or you can spend an armory point matching the corresponding gun your leveling to skip grinding the xp.
You are killing yourself by not taking the armor on non lethal gun strike perk. It’s the third last one in core. It’s THE MOST IMPORTANT PERK. Without it the class is less than vanguard.
Very important, but I do take that perk. Its Armour Reinforcement.. Maybe some gameplay i may not have had it for testing purposes. but in my lethal build in this guide i recommend it.
I saw Lethal block build, and he did work.
This video is before the blocking patches were made. I have an updated build guide for the assault that will help more with how the game plays today.
Thats funny i did this class last and i felt so powerful when using it. Its become my favorite now.
It was my first and I realised it was inferior so left it and then my second last to level. Now I’m trying to main it lol!
Yesssss bro this was my last build I used after leveling up everything else up and I been putting belt to A$$😂😂

Great video Brother. Trying to up my Assault game. Was my favourite class in the first game back in the day!

The using jetback to dodge thing... that should just be the default dodge for this class.
I would suggest using ground pound to clear minoris. I have gotten 6 ground pounds in a row during heavy waves with the 10% on kill ground pound regen perk. You can be the crowd clear.
Honestly the only class that should use balance is the vanguard with the 50% parry perk. Forget block weapons exist.
Ive mained the assault since launch and have been looking for something like this for a while now.

how to double aftershock ?
Hammer Perk Tree pick aftershock gains additional spin.

I will pay attention better to check, but personally I never noticed that happening to me.
yes, happens rarely but it can happen that you only get 1 swing out of aftershock.
I find when It happends, After a ground Pound

How do you get enough mastery points to get to the end?!?!

Side note, I hate that they lock 2 damage perks you cant take behind that must take survivability perk!
Assault is a godtier class ppl just gotta understand how to use it. Most noobs and even intermediates dont
The truth is.... Saber didn't do well with several things & the Assault is one of them.
The people who kicked you out because you chose assault class to play lethal level are weirdos.
