I think narratively its pretty clear what Super is doing, its giving Gohan a taste of the simple life he always wanted while showing him all the damage that comes to his world and friends that he could have the power to stop so that eventually he realizes he has a responsibility to stop it. Gohan is the Spider man of DBS
It also doesn’t matter because he still doesn’t go back to training until the last minute hence why he has to train against Piccolo in a day so he can fight his dad and thus the tournament

Trunks is probably the strongest in the series. All the hell he lived through...barely any good points in his life...and he can still smile and be happy for others.

Chi-Chi is just a huge disappointment every time she gets screen time anymore. They could have actually made a serious moment here with her seeing that even though Goku is a battle hungry monkey that he still cares about her just as much now as he always has. For us older fans we know Goku loves Chi-Chi but taking a moment to show the new generation how important she really is to him and having her realize that fact would have been a lot more interesting to watch and given more insight into their off-screen relationship than “Goten are you okay!? I don’t see any scratches or a halo on you” after she heard this happened IN THE FUTURE.

This implies by the look of disappointment Gohan had on his face if he wasn't so powerless he could of actually help Trunks like how Trunks help him, his dad & friends out from preventing an apocalyptic future where everyone basically dies & days of peace were gone. If Present Day Gohan would of went to the future with Trunks, Goku & Vegeta during this arc he would of knew why it's important to train because days of peace could be gone anyday & any moment. Also the interaction he would of had with Future Yajirobe to learn about his Future self would of been a key point to motivate him to train.

If Gohan had known Future Trunks real reason for coming back to the present from the beginning, he would have put aside his books and put on his battle gear and volunteered to come along with Goku and Vegeta to battle Black and Zamasu. He does not thrive on fighting like his father but when anyone threatens the safety of his love ones and home planet, the burning anger within him awakes. He was supposed to be stronger than Goku and Vegeta and both of them knows it but were disappointed that he spent too much time living the scholar’s life and did not train.
They keep having moments of Gohan realizing his dad Goku won’t be alive forever to protect the world and that he will need to step up and be the protector but they just keep throwing away the development like after this arc then even after the ToP cuz in the superhero movie he suggested they just let Goku and Vegeta handle it. Hopefully he doesn’t get lazy and throw his potential away again like the 3rd time even though the form was pretty unearned after what Goku and Vegeta gone through 😂

It's all good. Character development is important! It's how we can feel actual fictional characters feelings. It's crazy how you can relate to a cartoon and feel something from it. So to me it's more real then anything, and maybe that the point. My childhood was good and messed up, and it's from these shows and it's lessons that have made me into the man I am today or what I strive to be.
I was so disappointed that Gohan was weak when the Majin Buu saga started, but I mean… He got the ultimate power boost, not even as a super saiyan and he was able to keep up with Evil Buu.. no training for years and he was able to catch up to everyone in a blink of an eye… well, surpass them!😂👍🏻 Ps; Gohan was supposed to Kill Evil Buu, goku and vegeta were supposed to stay dead, Movie 12 with Fusion Reborn would have been canon, but the Demand to bring goku back to life was so big, that when they brought him back, Movie 12 did NOT make any sence anymore .
That is also something that infuriated me with Gohan after the Cell Saga, he completly stopped working out. I can understand that he´s focused more on his academics but ffs he knows about the Room of Spirit and Time. He could go in there for literally minutes a day to get a decent workout with either Piccolo, Goten or even Vegeta. This implies by the look of disappointment Gohan had on his face if he wasn't so powerless he could of actually help Trunks like how Trunks help him, his dad & friends out from preventing an apocalyptic future where everyone basically dies & days of peace were gone. If Present Day Gohan would of went to the future with Trunks, Goku & Vegeta during this arc he would of knew why it's important to train because days of peace could be gone anyday & any moment. Also the interaction he would of had with Future Yajirobe to learn about his Future self would of been a key point to motivate him to train.

If Gohan had known Future Trunks real reason for coming back to the present from the beginning, he would have put aside his books and put on his battle gear and volunteered to come along with Goku and Vegeta to battle Black and Zamasu. He does not thrive on fighting like his father but when anyone threatens the safety of his love ones and home planet, the burning anger within him awakes. He was supposed to be stronger than Goku and Vegeta and both of them knows it but were disappointed that he spent too much time living the scholar’s life and did not train.

They keep having moments of Gohan realizing his dad Goku won’t be alive forever to protect the world and that he will need to step up and be the protector but they just keep throwing away the development like after this arc then even after the ToP cuz in the superhero movie he suggested they just let Goku and Vegeta handle it. Hopefully he doesn’t get lazy and throw his potential away again like the 3rd time even though the form was pretty unearned after what Goku and Vegeta gone through 😂

It's all good. Character development is important! It's how we can feel actual fictional characters feelings. It's crazy how you can relate to a cartoon and feel something from it. So to me it's more real then anything, and maybe that the point. My childhood was good and messed up, and it's from these shows and it's lessons that have made me into the man I am today or what I strive to be.

I was so disappointed that Gohan was weak when the Majin Buu saga started, but I mean… He got the ultimate power boost, not even as a super saiyan and he was able to keep up with Evil Buu..
no training for years and he was able to catch up to everyone in a blink of an eye… well, surpass them!😂👍🏻
Ps; Gohan was supposed to Kill Evil Buu, goku and vegeta were supposed to stay dead, Movie 12 with Fusion Reborn would have been canon, but the Demand to bring goku back to life was so big, that when they brought him back, Movie 12 did NOT make any sence anymore .

That is also something that infuriated me with Gohan after the Cell Saga, he completly stopped working out. I can understand that he´s focused more on his academics but ffs he knows about the Room of Spirit and Time. He could go in there for literally minutes a day to get a decent workout with either Piccolo, Goten or even Vegeta. But no instead we get the "Great Saiya Man" might be in the minority but i absolutly hate that gimmick.
