Goku wasn't the first from Earth that King Kai made a connection with. In the otherworld tournament episodes of Dragonball Z, Olibu is Earth's fighter from 10,000 years ago who trained with King Kai.

King Kai did talk to Vegeta through some mind talking stuff when Beerus when to Earth. Don't see why he couldn't do the same.
I think the idea was that the Androids were a threat to Earth, but not a threat to the Galaxy itself. The Saiyans and Freeza were galactic threats while the Androids were otherwise seemingly ignorant of the galaxy at large. Else, the more likely scenario is what you said at the end.

Here's a less pessimistic answer: He didn't meddle in earth vs. earth affairs. He'll warn earthlings about Frieza, Saiyans, Buu, etc. but androids are earth-native humans. Perhaps it was necessary to let things run their natural course.

I never thought of King Kai or one day visits, but even way back when I saw the Androids/Cell Saga on Toonami when it first aired, I thought "Why didnt Future Bulma and Gohan go after the Namekian Dragon Balls?" My own head canon for that was that they couldn't find New Namek.

Jōji Yanami didnt die by the way he is just unfit for voice acting from what i can see. plus he was never a regular in the show so as long as they get a similar sounding guy it doesnt really matter as much. however, the Japanese VA for master roshi actually died and they're still using him. hell he had his own episode recently

I always wondered about that when it comes to the Future Trunks timeline. For the record History Of Trunks is a movie I really love. As for Namek in this timeline there is always the possibility that Namek was destroyed (the new one I mean) and in this way cancelling the possibility of anyone being revived.
Master Roshi was alive. He could have sealed the Androids away after he trained a bit or he could have at least taught it to Future Trunks since he is utterly broken at learning moves by just watching it once.
His voice actor is super sick so they wrote him out. Simple research would have shown that...

Can King kai play favorites and get involved in certain individual worlds problems though? The Androids were never really a threat to the universe so it kind of makes sense he wouldn't step in or he would be expected to do so with every world.
Goku might also have wanted Gohan to be the one to beat the androids and thought he would eventually become strong enough so asked King Kai to leave it to him.

Well considering in (Dragon Ball) Super, the Androids were pretty much a threat to universe 7's balance, a.k.a average mortal level. It is the Kaios job to step in and help guide them towards enlightenment instead of them learning from their mistakes.

1.THEORY(Anime): Future Supreme Kai taught Future Trunks the Genki-Dama/ Spirit Bomb. Trunks had remembered it and started gathering energy while Vegito held off Zamasu. And the "Spirit bomb takes 3 episodes to make" meme fits with this, too! Cause that episode is 6 episodes in 1, it explains why he did it so fast(Even for Dragon ball time)

Great analysis I always wondered why they didn't use the Namek Dragon balls in the Future Timeline.
Somewhat unrelated in my revised head canon. When the Kaio-shins trained Future Trunks for Majin Buu, King Kai was also on the Sumpreme Kai planet and while the Kaio-shins taught him a lot of things. King Kai taught Trunks the Genkidama just in case he couldn't stop Buu from reviving. This was their Plan B and would at least give Trunk's, Spirit Sword some context.
I also like the idea of Trunks pulling energy from from Goku Blacks dimensional rifts from Xenoverse. Sure we don't need him taking energy from GT and Time Patroller Trunks, but being able to get more energy makes sense when Goku needed a universal Genkidama to beat Kid Buu and seeing that Merged Zamasu was way stronger.
Not that Xenoverse should be canon, but I like the idea of a canon version of it where instead of Whis returning Trunks a similar timeline he and Mai gets recruited to join the DBS version of the Time Patrollers.

@@allthatjeff Its so weird how in Japan voice actors being unavailable meant the character wouldn't show up in an anime only show. They treat it as if the actor is actually on screen. I know that the original Gundam series did this where they made an entirely new character because the voice actress for the original character they wanted was away.

It could be that King Kai saw what was going on, but felt powerless to stop it. His best pupils lost to the androids so he may have considered the android threat to be a lost cause, and if he's not as technically skilled as Bulma may not have realized she was capable of still making a space ship with the resources of Capsule Corp scattered.
Given that we now know that time travel is a major breach of universal law, it's also possible King Kai didn't get involved because he was deliberately turning a blind eye. Sort of a "If I see you succeed at this, I'll be obligated to stop it, so I'm going to look away now" thing.
In Future Trunk's Timeline:
King Kai: Oh my! We need to do something about these androids!
*Toriyama snaps his fingers*

I think one other thing to consider is Mr Popo, it seems believable that King Kai would be out of touch with what was going on down on earth considering the fact that he has a whole galaxy quadrant full of planets to watch over and the fact that this was even shown when he didn't even know about the androids or Cell until Goku came and told him, so its clear that in future Trunk's timeline King Kai would have never known about the androids, but Mr Popo however is a different story, what I never got is why Mr Popo is nowhere to be seen in that timeline, I mean he could definitely help them find new Namek, he's telepathic and his carpet can teleport to different worlds so I think he could contact King Kai to get the coordinates for new Namek, then Bulma can build a spaceship instead of a time machine to take them there, or better yet King Kai uses instant transmission to take them there (which he should've done the first time) but whatever.

You'd think all the Z fighters who were allowed to keep their bodies pretty much all of them except Vegeta would have been able to go to King Kai's planet and inform him about what happened. I wish they'd have fleshed out a manga or anime that explains everything and fills in all the plotholes.

Game Insane Supreme Kai (universe 7's Kai, also called Shin in the manga, or Kaoishin) has a direct life link to Beerus. If he dies, so does Beerus, just as he did in Trunk's future timeline, when he died fighting Dabura and Babidi. Whis specifically stated this with his own mouth.

My only good thought would be that since he is a deity, and the androids were man made, as well as limited to Earth, he isn't supposed to interfere. Not until something of a universal threat would arise, like Frieza. The androids were just wrecking Earth, and didn't seem to have an interest in conquering the universe. As far as gods go, that was humanity's own undoing.

I'm pretty sure every Dragonball theory as to why something did or did not happen can be answered with: 1.) Author ran out of time, 2.) Completely forgot about it, 3.) Executives meddled and made him/her go in a different direction, 4.) S/he didn't like the idea and decided to scrap it, hoping you'd forget about it, 5.) They hated the character. .6) It would have ended the story arc way too soon. Seriously, it happens so much with manga/anime that fan theories are often just cringeworthy. That being said though, I do like most LaughingStock videos and when a series goes on for far longer than it should have, your chances of shit terrible writing go up with each passing arc.
My personal theory is that Grand Kai found out what King Kai was doing for the earthlings, and forbade any contact seeing how kais are not supposed to intervene in mortal affairs unless it’s a galaxy issue

Here is a new perspective. We learn in DBS that the gods are charged with cultivating life in their territories and permitting the destruction of planets where life failed to develop properly. Gowasu explained to Zamasu that non-interference -- a la the Prime Directive -- is part of the equation. If a planet destroys itself, that is simply its fate. This is not what was happening with Vegeta and Nappa traveling to Earth. Planet-busting warriors from another world were coming to Earth, seeking immortality on the Dragon Balls, and one of their own (i.e. Goku) had requested an intervention from King Yemma. Many of these same conditions also applied to Namek, which also got King Kai's direct assistance. Failing to act was simply not an option if you want life in your galaxy.
As for the androids, they were a product of Earth. They didn't seem to want to destroy the planet, per se. They didn't seem to care about traveling to other planets. They weren't seeking immortality and perhaps didn't even know about the Dragon Balls. While they were certainly a threat to humanity, they are NOT the same kind of threat Nappa and Vegeta would have been to the galaxy. As such, assuming King Kai knew of the androids, it is possible he felt it was humanity's unfortunate fate.
There are also something else missing in Future Trunks Timeline. Where is Kami lookout, they never shown that either and where is Mr. Popo? We knew Kami is dead if Piccolo being killed. Without that lookout, King Kai may not be communicating especially Kami is not around.
I just thought that: King Kai needed to see through the eyes/minds of people there, and since everyone was dead, he simply couldn't.
And they the z fighters may of gone their own way/became a little more evil like Yamcha returns to being a bandit.
Also he PROBABLY thought Bulma would of been died also, so probably didn't check her.
And probably didn't know where new namek was so couldn't create a link at all / weren't in his jurisdiction so he straight up wasn't allowed.
My thought is that king Kia DID try to help but the thing is,he isn't omniscient so he may not have known everything and jokingly said "idk time travel?" and bulma took it seriously

I always figured that the reason he could not reach Earth was because since Piccolo died kami is also dead meaning that there is no connection directly to God and Earth, therefore meaning even if King Kai wanted to get someone to his Planet there's no way to do so

1. king kai says in the mabga that he has an entire quadrant to look after when goku comes to him to find new namek.. he had no idea what was going on ,on earth when the androids and cell were released
2. goku could not comeback because he died of natural causes and dragonballs can only bring back those whi died in battle/killed
3. goku only got a day pass because of all his heroic action(no other z fighter would have done enough to get a day pass)
4. vegeta would have lost his physical body in death as piccolo told him in the buu saga

I'd say its that he just didn't know enough to help. With buu and freeza king kai knew who they were and he knew how to deal with them , but with the androids and cell what could he have done? They were completely new so king kai had no idea they existed before they showed up unlike buu and freeza.
He could have contacted the androids and tell them jokes 24/7 till they killed themself.
What if King Kai chose not to help because he foresaw Bulma attempting to time travel and he knows that it is against the rules of the universe and wanted to keep his hands clean of the issue so he would not be punished and could not be linked with the time travel at all.

King Kai had no connection to Earth prior to the Saiyan saga either yet he intervened to help... So that argument makes no fucking sense.
Even though it doesn't fit perfectly into the timeline, I personally headcannon that Metal Cooler is canon. If it was canon that would mean that the Namekians were wiped out so the Dragon Balls couldn't be used. It is a dark timeline after all.
I also believe that King Kai DID contact Gohan and told him to train Trunks since there wasn't a way for them to get Namekian Dragon Balls, or get to Otherworld

I thing the most logical way is to say that the Future androids are so Evil that there would be classified as Demons which means that just like with Krilling first 2 death against Freezer and Tambourin would everyone killed by them send to limbo so non of them would ever be able to go to the Northern Kaio and as we saw in the start of the Freezer arc when Kaio fist needed to check of one can even live on Namek was he surprised to see that the Namekians have returned for quite a while by now so showing that he really doesn't is to consent with looking over the quarter of the Universe he is suppose to rule over.

I'll use some head cannon to make this make sense:
- King Kai goes through hibernation cycles like Lord Beerus. He started one soon after Goku returned to Earth from Yardrat, assuming that everyone would be safe without his help from then on Because he is a deity, he normally sleeps for hundreds or thousands of years, so he won't wake up for a very long time. (After all, he was sleeping in the Main Timeline when Goku went to see him.)
- When Future Goku died of the heart virus, he didn't return to King Kai's planet, because he had nothing left to learn from him. Instead, he went to the Grand Kai's planet and trained with the other dead warriors like in the Main Timeline after the Cell Games. And, just like in the Main Timeline, he never once checked in on his friends and family back on Earth, because he was having so much fun training. So Future Goku never finds out about the Androids.
("But what about the other dead Z Fighters? Wouldn't THEY at least get to go to the Grand Kai's heaven and meet up with Goku and tell him what's happening on Earth? Wouldn't Goku then teleport to King Kai's planet and get him involved with finding New Namek and fixing everything?")
- No, because - and here's me REALLY forcing this to work - the Androids knew all the techniques of everyone Dr. Gero had observed since the 22nd World Martial Arts Tournament. This would include all of Goku's fights, INCLUDING his opponents. Two of Goku's opponents from back then were Tambourine and King Piccolo. Korin stated that anyone killed by King Piccolo or any of his children didn't go to the afterlife, but to some permanent limbo state. The Androids had this power programmed into them by Dr. Gero, so all of the Z fighters killed by the Androids went to limbo, not to the heaven where Goku was. So Future Goku remained totally ignorant about the events on Earth, and, without King Kai there with him to check on everyone, Goku had no reason to assume that anything was wrong. Plus, he never saw his friends' souls, because they went to King Piccolo's limbo, since the Androids knew King Piccolo's killing technique. The higher deities like Grand Kai and Supreme Kai seem only to care about the mortal world when multiple planets are threatened, so as long as the Androids kept their destruction on Earth, it doesn't look like anyone higher than King Kai would do anything. Bulma had no idea where New Namek was, and she tried reaching out to King Kai, but he never answered because he was asleep, so she assumed that they were on their own, which they were. And considering that during the seven-year time skip in the Main Timeline, Goku never tried talking to Gohan via King Kai or looking down on him, we can assume that Future Goku was just as aloof.
I KNOW using King Piccolo's limbo is a stretch, but it DOES account for this huge plot hole and explains why no one told Goku or King Kai what happened on Earth or why they were dead so soon.
I think we can all agree that Cell Saga is Goated, and it would have never happened without the future timeline being so messed up. I think Toriyama did want to tell that kind of story and he just had to ignore what came before it. Besides Trunks does say, for some reason king Kai never got in contact so maybe since the timeline was darker in general something bad was happening in The afterlife. We can take some inspiration from movies and filler and say maybe some evil entity like janemba was wreaking havoc.

I honestly assume that King Kai only intervened during the Saiyan Saga, and Namek Saga was because Vegeta and Nappa, then Frieza, were direct threats to his quadrant. So it was necessary for him to get involved. And then after that, there wasn't really anything going on that he had to get directly involved with. He pretty much only watched, but since the Androids wouldn't ever destroy the earth and move planet to planet since they were not able to (As far as we know), they would be local to earth and wouldn't be a threat to any other planet... At least, that's my assumption.
Goku starts to go into last minute stage heart virus, I frigging blast him into the next dimension then promptly wish him back. Yes, that's my plan once he gets the heart virus. Except I like thinking the enhanced stronger 17 and 18 would still murder Goku and continue the murder spree. It doesn't matter really, FTrunks was just on borrowed time, still is. Fate will catch you one day FTrunks, you SOB! It's your final destination!
Maybe he thought the Androids were a Earth threat and not a Universal threat like Frieza and Majin Buu.
Basic reasons is that if they did there would be no Android/Cell saga. It is a major plot hole that never was explained.
simple toriyama made the android saga less magical because he wants it to be more realistic

Goku knew IT and could travel to King Kai planet in the after life and would have been able to communicate with Trunks and all the Future Timeline people. Yet they did nothing

Goku kept his body because he was good and a powerful fighter. Natural causes doesn't mean anything outside of the fact he couldn't be revived with the Dragon Balls. He could've trained in the afterlife for eternity and that's more than likely something that would've happened. Goku was at least owed his body.
Denji2006 Well, its most likely that he didn't keep his body. If he did, he would've used King Kai to talk to the Z Fighters or have Baba giving him that 24 hour treatment but he didn't. Besides, King Yemma bringing Vegeta back in the buu saga made more sense because Buu was a universal threat, the Androids were just an Earth threat. He died twice as well which at the time, they couldn't bring him back again and Dende couldn't become the Guardian to upgrade them to bring someone back more than twice. There wasn't really any reason to have Goku come back. They couldn't even wait one year for the dragon balls to recharge because the Z Fighters died 6 months after Goku died. He died of natural cause, he died twice, and he died to early on to be wished back after in a year's time. You're pretty much saying they should make an asspull when there was no way they could bring Goku back...
Knowing goku, future or not he'd train when he's dead. What if he got stronger and returned for a day like from Baba or even future Gohan maybe? (Not vegeta because he didn't have a pure heart but then like king yema did in the buu arc he might "bend the rules")
My idea was that king Kai can only interfere with things that cld realistically threaten the entirety of his quadrant of the Galaxy/universe. The androids were a terrestrial threat, with no real way of threatening the rest of the Galaxy (as far as we know) unlike frieza, the saiyans, perfect cell, or buu. So it's not that King Kai doesn't care but due to the limited nature of the threat he cldnt interject himself into the equation. This obviously is with the assumption that the lesser Kai have rules or laws that govern what they can n can't do especially when dealing with the realm of the living
Maybe King Kai assisted during the saiyan and buu arc because they were threats from other quadrants. The androids were earth made and he can't interfere with self destruction.
what i find weird about this is also that when goku died an unnatural death he kept his body ... but when he died of an heart virus he doesnt get his body? why wouldnt goku go to king kai like he normally would when he dies.
My head canon for this is that Goku Black actually jumped into Trunks' timeline earlier than you expect, before Goku's death. He then wiped out all of the Kais and much life in the universe, getting stronger and stronger before he came to Earth where he knew he would face a Saiyan.

@@skyatollah2skyharder276 Why? The anime seems to imply Earth is the last stronghold and Trunks is the last protector. Black seems to also only be letting him live because fighting Trunks pushes his Saiyan body further.
If we were to bring Super into question too, how about this: king kai was sleeping throughout the whole android things like beerus, and once he woke up he also get killed by Black/Zamatsu? Remember Zamatsu need to kill Supreme Kai in order to take beerus out of the question, and he might kill all other Kai just in case so none can raise to Supreme Kai level and resurrected Beerus again?

Maybe toriyama forgot about king kai on this part or didn't think about involving him where he could of been useful.
So, I have an idea and forgive me if it has already been mentioned but when Goku died by teleporting cell to his planet he wanted to go to see grand Kai which I believe was completely filler but let's pretend it isn't. If goku died before any mention of cell the. I assume his wanting to meet and train with the grand Kai would still be the same but much sooner. So, king Kai could've left with goku to meet the grand kai so even if the dead z fighters went to his planet for help he might not have been there and they are unaware of how to get to the grand Kai where King Kai is or even having knowledge of the grand Kai. But, after going back to his home planet he check his answering machine because bubbles point it out and it is too late everyone is dead. So, he watches closely from that day forward and babadi appears on earth with dabura he sends work to the supreme Kai who goes and trains with trucks so he can defeat them. King Kai knows of this "Super saiyan 2" form because Goku has now been in other world training longer because he died sooner. Goku achieved ssj2 first instead of gohan because nothing in the cell saga has taken place yer.
What about when Goku was dead in that timeline, did he really not hang out with King Kai in the afterlife?

Toriyama really should have thought up a reason for King Kai to die in the Future Timeline just so this wouldn't be an issue.
Except being dead wouldn't change anything for him, he just gets a halo. He would need to be erased or otherwise incapable of communicating with Earth.

He can't just use the Namekian Dragon Balls because the Z Fighters still wouldn't be strong enough to beat the androids and there's probably the rule of only bringing back people who were killed in a year's time. The Z Fighters were dead for years. They can't be wished back. Telling Bulma about New Namek wouldn't do shit because she'd still have to build a spaceship and she was barely able to build a time machine 3 years after Gohan died. She would have to the build the spaceship bigger if she's bringing Trunks with them or Gohan if he was still around and they would have to risk the possibility of a spaceship being seen by the androids and destroying it. That would waste so much time and parts. She also wouldn't even know where it is. King Kai had NOTHING he could've done.
King Kai is or only communicated with those who have died. Also hooked up from kame. Since he didn't die within his own timeline or dimension he never could have come across king Kai.
