The ssd is actually 2242 while the steam deck is 2230, so people who are planning to upgrade, watch out
Watch out for what? 2230 is compatible in 2242 slots...
Thats my first thoughts : On technical information, details are important.
@@wafu6058 of course but then you are stuck with buying an adapter so that you can screw in the ssd
If you afford a $700 device you can afford a $5 adapter
@@swetfdeeee yeah and thats janky as hell
i like how the first part they talk about is how to upgrade it
Car guys do it all the time. I can dig it. Think about it. 1200 vs 699? Sounds like a solid move to me
Microcenter wants people to buy more stuff. It’s called running a business
He clearly did it cuz he’s at micro center and that was prob part of the deal.
Also you can get the legion in 1tb anyway
1tb legion will be better cause you don't have to open device and might break something inside also no cons like the vertical mouse where you will get shot 1st in fps or is very inaccurate on a city builder or farming sim
Thats because they know their costumers, nerds will upgrade the device no matter what xD
I’m excited to see what this device is actually like once normal people start getting this in their hands. I love Austin but we all know these videos don’t tell us all we want to know (obviously including embargoes and such). I think this has some potential to be a good option in the hand held gaming world. Guess we’ll see
yes didnt know Austin is abnormal
@@Freestyle80he more talking about the act he puts on for the camera.
I'm just here for the tiny bag.
IF YOU UPGRADE YOUR SSD, be sure to clone the original ssd in order to copy over all of your windows files and operating system. Otherwise, you're gonna have yourself a time setting up a brand new copy of windows.
Im pretty sure Austin knows what he’s doing lol
@Twanothepotterhead he could've been addressing the viewers lol....
An almost 9 inch diagonal display, that’s pretty gigantic, with a reasonable price ..
The Legion is the first of the handhelds to make me look up from my Deck, although really they still can't come close to the budget category. But competition is good, so hopefully Lenovo can keep up the momentum. Makes me look forward to the PC handheld scene when the Deck 2 comes out
steam sell the console cheap and make up the difference with software
Best part of the Steamdeck is its linenx based with Steam OS. Not a windows platform.
As someone with a desktop I will say I would never actually want to play new AAA on a handled period. The games I would play on one are older games like ~2016 and older that WOULD run at above 60fps. People say the steamdeck does not need a 144hz display because it can't run at 144hz but in my mind anyone playing AAA games at 30fps - 40 fps is the madman. If I want to enjoy a new AAA game I want to crank up those settings on my desktop. My ideal handheld would be a steamdeck with a better screen and maybe a tiny bump in performance.
@@kakashi99908 True dat
Steam deck is cheaper because they know people will use the steam store. Same situation for consoles.
1:11 Oh no! Austin almost Linused!
Kinda wished they announced this when the rog ally was announced, would have bought this instead
I like the thinner bezels. I do wish they had been able to put in a bigger battery. The trackpad also looks a bit low and could be straining to use for more than 10 or 20 minutes.
It's definitely only meant to be used for desktop navigation. After using it for a bit I wouldnt be comfortable using it in game I dont think. You def can, just not targeted towards that.
Yeah, I can play slow-paced strategy games like Pharaoh, Stellaris, etc., comfortably for hours with the Steam Deck touchpads, and I can play them wherever I like.
For the Legion Go, I think you need to bust out the vertical mouse to do that.
just got done messing around with one at microcenter. that trackpad is easily better than 90% of laptops i've messed with and the screen is phenomenal. overall no bad impressions sadly the game demo they were using was very low on graphical detail and i couldn't get to the desktop environment.
I would rebind Primary Click to Left Trigger like I do with the Deck. Feels way better to make your aiming thumb and clicking finger independent on two different hands. You have much less jitter, more control, and don't have to stretch your hand unnaturally.
@@paulaldo9413Yeah, I hav the legion go, and for strategy games you need to use the vertical mouse. Although I do have some strategy game (mostly RTS games) that don’t require left click, and fore them the touchscreen is more than good enough
Very awesome I am totally going to buy this sucker when I get my 3rd check from work. :)
I actually have had the gray version of that bag for a few years now lmao. It's great! I throw in my 14" laptop, my ipad mini, a usb cahrger and a mouse adn I have a full setup wherever I go and it's just in a slim little bag
Nice save Austin!
Thank you for adding spanish audio, I live in Perú and I like your videos 😁😁
Blimey that store was impressive!
If this thing has stylus support, I would %100 buy this thing. It's basically already a tablet. Get a Bluetooth keyboard and it can potentially replace your laptop too. Just have to get used to the small screen (in laptop mode) or use their AR glasses. I might still buy it anyway but if it had stylus support then I wouldn't even hesitate.
I agree 👍
I hadn’t thought about getting a handheld (aside from the switch) but the Lenovo legion go might actually be something I get.
just get a steamdeck
Out with the old in with the new GO with the Go 🎉
@@ItsReallyGeoit's not powerfully enough get a asus rog ally
Get legion go. Sold my SD to get one I'm not disappointed can't stand Linux
Just get an iPad
This got me wanting to bring back my legion slim for this
This was brilliant marketing for micro center, and it actually hyped me up to shop there.
I know this isn’t the point, but I’m buying this mainly for Solidworks, Fusion360, and some lightweight Adobe stuff
let me know how you go. i’m wanting it for some light gaming and some fusion360/adobe 2d work.
@@yvngaura I just turned it on, and so far it’s acting like a normal windows PC. I haven’t installed anything on it yet, but I feel like it’ll go well! I’ll return here to let you know how it goes …if I can find this comment again 😅
@@Funkotronimus i’ll get back to you in a week or so haha i reckon
@@yvngaura so far, it works BEAUTIFULLY with Solidworks and Fusion360! I haven’t tried any Adobe products with it yet, but my sense is the legion go will handle them well. It also expands nicely onto the ultra-wide monitor I got to go along with it!
how convenient, just at 2:48 a lenovo legion go ad popped up!
I usually dont subscribe in first video but this was clean video. I Saw everything needed like your voice and think that everything was told.
Nice to see more small pc:s, im using the rog ally with xg mobile just wished on ally had removable controllers so it could just be a small windows tablet :D
I’ve been waiting for this
I was going to go ROG Ally but am sold on the Lenovo Legion GO. Separate controllers, the mouse mode, less bezels, screen size!
300 grams more body weight....
@@Prisoner_ksc2-303 no vrr either...
Less fps because you need higher resolution for the bigger screen ...
It's Lenovo...
Just got mine today!!
Just waiting for it to be in sale 😊
Lol @ 7:36 " I'm really good at putting straps-on" 😂😂😂😂
9 inch strap-on. kinda hot.
Awesome backpack review.
Throwing this out there, a friend has a jank racing setup at home worthy of a broke v pro type video with a old gaming laptop mounted to the back of a monitor. Would love to see a video on using the steam deck vs other handhelds vs pc racing rig.
Personally, I like that you're working with microcenter. I used to go to one in Maryland and they were always good.
Sadly, I don't have one anywhere near me anymore 😭
Does peeling the sicker while changing the ssd void the warranty?
That wide angle view is looking lit! Which lens is this?
Austin don't get rid of the table, but you can have someone refinish it for you.
Lenovo Legion Go w/ controllers attached: 1.88 lb / 640 g
Living in southern California when I was asked where I'd like to go on vacation I told my family Micro Center...😅
Great time to be alive with a bunch of different steam decks coming out. I'm happy with Valve's original but ayaneo or legion go are also good steam decks
Got one from microcenter. Only costed 750 for a 2TB version. The device is awesome I would definitely recommend
Yeah it's amazing
Your video is interesting to watch. Lots of fun
Finally someone plugged it into the TV to see if it ran 4K gaming. Thank you 🤝🤝🤝🤝
No, No… it runs 1080p gaming lol. Output to a 4K does not mean it will scale to 4K.
@@BangerGoggles still impresive! my ryzen 7 / rtx 3060 laptop has just a few more fps with similar settings
Really cool stuff.
I found out one thing, if you need repairs don't send it to Lenovo. I sent mine into them for a broken joystick button and they have had it for 3 weeks, first they closed the repair ticket before they even got the computer. Then they found it and opened a new ticket, then said they were waiting for parts only the next day to say it was done and on it's way back to me. Then I realized the tracking info they gave me was not for me, was for a 12lb box, and went to the other side of the U.S. from where I live. Now after numerous calls my computer is apparently lost and they have no ide where it is.
Not a single review in the UK yet lol. They don’t seem to have sent any stock to Europe. It’s a 2 week wait from release day regardless of how long ago you pre-ordered.
I really wish these things had sim slots.
Just FYI tech team - that radio mic (or level adjustment) is pretty crispy, borderline distorted
I was hyped to buy it , but I guess I will wait for the next handheld …
I'm interested in how well I can use this as a portable ham radio setup. I bet i can run all the digital modes and use it as a replacement for a few other things, all running at the same time. I hope i can get in contact with Lenovo about the potential of not just gamers but techs that want/need a small setup for being in the field. Hit me up, Lenovo. I'm easy to find...
I am not close to a Micro Center in Tustin, so I contacted Micro center through online chat and was informed that they would not build a 2 tb Legion Go and send it to me. I was informed even if I came into the shop in Tustin, they could not guarantee that they would build it.
nice to see Linus making a cameo @1:10
I wish I had a Micro Center in my area. The closest thing I had in my city was a Fry's Electronics before it closed. I heard there use to be a Micro Center in my area but close a long time ago.
Lol are you in San Jose?
@@cheekypasta55 yeah, I had no idea there was a Micro Center here until my brother who was a former Fry's employee told me.
@@John_Alter Lol yup same. I lived about a mile away from that Micro Center and I loved that place. It was gone before I was 10 years old. And then Frys going under was a big disappointment. I loved going there too.
@@cheekypasta55 I grew up going to Fry's and got most of my products there since my older brother worked there as the manager for the IT department but quit 2-3 years after being with Fry's for 15 years before it closed.
Awesome content but you forgot to mentioned to clone the new SSD before installing it to the Legion Go
Damn dude that handhelds almost the size as you are!
I welcome you. It's a pity you didn't show what happens after replacing the disk. Need to enter the bios? After replacing the disk, the system installs itself on the new disk?
HI Austin , Did you have to clone any software or Operating System when You Upgraded the SSD thanks ???
Can u use another controller like the 8bitdo ultimate Bluetooth controller on the lenovo go?
I bought mine stock from micro center with 2 TB storage
Great video…except the dock you recommend doesn’t fit the Legion Go unless you set it on the dock off center. And the Anker 733 charger doesn’t actually charge the Go for some reason. And I’m not sure why anyone would buy a 1GB ssd to replace the 512GB one when it only cost $50 more to buy the 1TB version…
Quick question after changing ssd do you need to install software into it like the sream deck? If so how do i do this?
The boy Austin got the thing on him lol 7:53
How hard was it to get all the drivers and software to run after the upgrade?
Do you recommend an external GPU, and how much of an upgrade would that be?
1:11 Still pulling a Linus sometimes 😂
Pre ordered mine and got it today and as soon as I touched it I knew I liked it more than the ally. Love the design of it, the screen size, speed of it etc. will be selling my ally and keeping this most likely. I got the 1TB version and it’s worth every penny
Is the fan loud in AAA games? I've heard it got a high pitch sound and I really can't stand extremely loud fans.
@@KB_______ not in my opinion but it depends on your tolerance
they should sell "console" computers, a carbon cube that holds the power of a computer, with hdmi in, headphone jack, and comes with a usb dock. with all that, that was stored inside of the legion, i think they could work with some sort of portable shape to minimize a computer tower, and with obvious corners cut.
Its called SFF computer. Or an Intel NUC. These exist all over the place right now.
1:10 spot on Linus impression
I so much want to see a micro-center opening here ,in france ...
Can you please provide links to the products featured in the video in the description. Thank you.
Microcenter needs to come to Australia!!
It's great for gaming gaming and basically a tablet.
I can see myself getting rid of my gaming laptop and Xbox series x just to have this, also if I can find the way to run switch games there's goes the switch out the window too. I like the steam deck I played it but this seems like a step up specially that screen size
I’m thinking the same thing, there’s just the battery time deterring me
FPS sucks
Omg i literally just bought a Rog ally today! And now this! My heart is breaking.... its okay ill go play my ally😂
No way you're saying someone's gonna whip out all of those peripherals and stuff to plonk on a table in a coffee shop
Steam decks and Surfaces use a 2230 NVME ssd. What you showed was a 2242 NVME ssd. Can the Legion Go use either size?
Would like to know that as well
if not you can get an extension for 2230s to fit
Is there space for a 4 tb or even 8 tb ssd in the GO? And if so, with or without an adapter?
Microcenter should open a store in Tallahassee to give best buy some competition
As a Canadian watching from... er, Canada.. I die a little inside everytime I see the fully stocked shelves of a micro centre... I literally spent 45 minutes recently trying to find a simple USB A to Micro USB in a bestbuy, only to end up having to go to a fricking The Source store to get it
I think we need these PC Handhelds to just support these full size PCIE SSD’s. The larger ones are faster, cheaper and come with more storage options.
These are cool devices, although I’m glad that you can get a Ryzen 7 Phoenix APU laptop and get similar CPU+GPU performance to avoid fomo while having a good laptop
I did a lot of cross shopping, and trying to find a decent laptop with a 7840U that's capable of hitting the 30W TDP (and thus roughly matching the Go's performance) of the Legion Go while costing anywhere near $700 is, currently, a very tall order, if not impossible. The Legion Go also comes with 7,500MT/s DDR5 memory, which helps boost its performance relative to its competitors. Can't seem to find a better value proposition on paper other than the Steam Deck, and even that's somewhat debatable.
bless you austin.
7:26 Why do you need a keyboard for the laptop setup?
I think you should try out 800p in the handheld mode instead.
Everyone always talks about how easy it is to upgrade the ssd but what about reinstalling the OS in that system ? That’s the more tedious part.
Ya I just got a 2TB n on the phone with Lenovo to see if they can help she sound like she don’t know what goin on smh lol
I wish there was a Microcenter store here in Central Florida. 😢
One is opening in miami i think. Seen it on the website.
Nearly drops the dock. Jeez it the flash appears in studio in a few seconds from store
I don't know why people hate on 1080p. 1080p is good lol especially on a device this small it is awesome. I want to grab this one.
Austin, can you Legion Go tell Micro Center to build in Orlando, Florida???
Let’s not forget this also has the option to run an egpu so kind of an ultimate setup for desktop and on the go gaming.
it's just through thunderbolt 4. Ally solution is much better, albeit proprietary
@@Prisoner_ksc2-303 ally's solution is theoretically better, but the only xg mobile gpu is 4 grand (atleast here in aus), so for most people it cant use an e gpu
Is this the Micro Center in Tustin?
I wish I could live near a Micro Center. 🤤
Wonder if this is available in Ireland also I'll see if black friday will help me get a good deal too
So you replaced the SSD with a new blank one? How did you install the operating system?
That's a big beefy boy you got there.
you almost linus'd that steam deck dock 1:10
so how do upgrade the ssd then its just put new in and ur ready to go???
I just got a legion go, and was wondering if you can play the warcrafts 2 and 3? And can you play them with the joysticks? Or do you need to use a keyboard and mouse? Thanks
8.8 inch screen and full Windows. WOW
What vertical mouse are you using ?
I would add a bigger secondary portable display to the setup
That's way too much for a coffee shop table lol cool setup though, great vid!
That's a 2242 m.2. The Steam Deck, Surface, and Ally all use a 2230
One thing it's lacks is fingerprint reader missing in this
