I took a risk with mine, brand new from Zodiac, used a flap wheel to rub it down so it was rough. matt blacked some scallops then red candy with small flake straight over the top, then just candy followed by loads of clear to help make it smooth. Looks great in the sunlight as you can see the swirls under the paint. It was all done on a budget and I bet less than £50 (Approx $65/70 )

Suggestion from an old painter for spray bombs- Submerge the can in very hot water, take it out an shake it, feel for the temperature of the can to get cool, then repeat until the contents is the same temperature as the water. Hot spray cans work A LOT better. Of course shake the hell out of it before you use it.

It blows my mind someone takes time out of there day, sets up a channel to take us through the journey of building bikes. Just to basically raffle it off ship it to the person and get another rider on the road to maybe some epic rides and good times. That all someone can come up with is a negative response. Here is my response to all the time and effort you have put in Thank you! I build all my rides in this same way and they get so many compliments on being creative. Built a Suzuki VS800 shaft drivin hardtail it was sick. To all the negative Dbags go create something it will give you way less time to bitch and you might learn something....BTW bobber and a fullface here and my s**t is full of soul

To get the look you were going for you use a black base coat then you do silver over then you use a Brillo pad to get the black to come out from under to give it a stainless steel look.

Christ, show these kids how simply it is to do a really nice paint job, that will stay in style for years, not this stupid fad shit that looks so contrived!!! Put the extra work and time, not money and it will show in the end. You want to tell someone, no I don’t give a shit about my custom, it didn’t put any work into it. I really liked the first tank. What was it off of? The tank you picked just another sporty tank leaves to much frame showing between neck & tank. It's not a Harley stop trying to make it one go with the first tank cast a shadow off the C cut in the sides of the tank. First time to stop by your site like some of your paint ideas. People way over complicate a nice simple paint job that can be done at home.

In 1972, a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum-security stockade to the Los Angeles underground. Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem... if no one else can help... and if you can find them... maybe you can hire... The A-Team to paint your tank.

#1: The first tank looked and fit better, replacement tank has too much gap between seat and tank and between tank and frame neck. #2: For the amount of paint you left on the replacement tank, you could have bought a 2 ounce bottle of flat black for 2 or 4 bucks and airbrushed it on the tank, blending / fogging it where and how you wanted it on the tank, then hand sanded after dry with 40 grit to get your streak lines #3: I'm guessing that the majority of that 50 dollar paint job price tag, must be for those flashy red and silver foil decals, you put on the sides of the replacement tank. #4: Sorry, but the video should be titled A Wicked Waste of $50, just to get a cr*p tank paint job and two stickers !.

I see what you're going for with the paint, Check out Rat Rob Bob Builds and see how he has done some of his paint work on a few builds. It maybe closer to what you're wanting.

Once again Thank you . I have always been a car guy. Between all the computers and electronics i am lost. so i picked up a 2004 roadstar . it has its problems but i have gotten more confidence to take on and possibility pick up an older bike to customize. The bike is looking amazing. Hard to beleave it is the same bike. Take care and God bless P.S. do you ever tig weld or do you only use a mig ? P.P.S. just an idea. after you put the decal on spray some satin clear over it to tone it down a little. Just an idea.

I tend to like the peanut gas tank that's what I got on my bobber project.
You see a lot of them peanut gas tanks on those slim skinny bikes and I do like it, of course opinions are like azzholes everybody's got one....
    Thanks for sharing!

Try wet sanding next time and you won't clog your sandpaper so fast.
