are there beaches that you should not swim/or snorkel in?
are there warning signs nearby for these?

I don't remember seeing any signs for not swimming in any of the beaches at Rottnest ❤️
I'm sure on rougher days there will be signs showing the conditions but when we went it was lovely and smooth.
Thereare a lot to choose from aswell 🥰

Is it safe to leave bags on beach while go in for a swim ?

We didn't have any trouble with it, we always stayed close anyway, the beaches aren't huge so you can always keep an eye out 😀

Do you think it would be a bad idea to go Rottnest Island in middle of August? While I think it would be good weather to walk around, the waters would be too cold to swim in? 😅 I'm visiting Perth in mid August and I'm undecided if I should visit Rottnest Island.

Hahaha yea might be a bit chilly, but maybe you'll beat the crowds doing it that way?
It's quite alot of money for a day trip, paying for the ferry and bikes or buses etc but it is a lovely place 😍

@@fivedownunder Thank you for the reply. I don't mind just enjoying the cooling breeze on the beach and enjoy watching the crystal clear waters 😁

I went there today, 22nd Feb, 2024 with some friends, I learned that the island is a National Park. They told us that today is not a very busy day, but the whole island is very busy. Yes went around the island by bus. Overall Rottnest island is very pretty. The beach is just A mazing.

Great video, thank you! This is very helpful
We will also be visiting Rottnest some time in Sept when we visit Perth, and will have a toddler and an infant with us too. We saw quite alot of negative feedback on TripAdvisor about the crowded hop on/off buses and seemed quite stressful. Especially if you have a ferry to catch and you're stuck somewhere on the island, with crowded buses passing you by I can imagine.
How was it for you with the bus situation and with the kids? Which day of the week were you there and your timings?
    Thanks!

Glad the video was helpful 😍
We went at the beginning of March and we went on a Thursday, so I would definitely try to go through the week while schools on to lessen any crowds as much as you can.
The buses were always pretty full but they come past every 20 minutes or so, so if worse comes to worse and one's full then another one will be coming shortly. We got the first ferry to rottnest at 730am and got the ferry back at about 230pm only because we had dinner plans... but there were other ferries available throughout the late afternoon.
If we ever went back again I would definitely try to stay somewhere for the night so you can get two really good days out of it, because we felt sooo rushed, (i know we had a tight timeline to start with) trying to see multiple beaches and then waiting for the bus between that... it's a tricky one 🤣 There's just soooo many beaches to see!
Overall, we loved it! The bus situation for us was good, I assume because we went during the week during school time 😍 I hope this helps xx

You should be OK if it's during the week and not school holidays. You don't want to use bikes if you're on a day trip. I'm a cyclist and getting to the West End is not a good idea if you've only got a day....

Can,t believe the way people are being robbed, the prices on Rottnest Island are just day light robbery. BUT i was lucky when i use to go there every weekend ,when no one was there never holiday time, had the whole island to myself, it was heaven ,the pub was there and a chip shop, that was it, BUT it was in the early 70,s so a long time, To me it is destroyed now but they want to make money now that,s what it,s all about

Yea I guess it's like everything now, just crazy expensive! 😭 Oh wow sounds like you had some great times there! And yes that's it right, everything is so commercialized now, if there's money to make they'll make it 😔
