I absolutely love Marmite. My brother brought some Vegemite back from Australia about 12 or 15 years ago (when England won the Ashes there!). Loving Marmite, I tasted Vegemite (thinking I would love it too!) and it was absolutely hideous. It had more or less next to no real taste. It was only a mega tiny pot. I think three of the five in our family tasted it (VERY sparingly!) and the tiny pot was thrown. The Convicts can bloody keep it. I'm not sure quite where the thought that "cherry" could be tasted in a Battenburg came from. It has almonds on the outer side of it which is certainly similar to marzipan. I love biscuits and have not had the pleasure of tasting a tim-tam. Given the amount of biscuits I do like, I'm not in any hurry to try a tim-tam. I have seen some American TH-camrs use a Penguin like a tim-tam to suck milk through the biscuit, by nibbling off diagonally opposite corners. I am not a massive fan of Pork Pie but it should certainly not be heated up. It should be eaten cold.
I’m with you Lia, I grew up in wales, Pot noodles, pork pies and pickled onion monster munch are the bomb. I also loved the prawn cocktail crisps and frazzles. I used to love penguins but agree Tim tams are better
Hi guy's love ya shows keep up the great work and have a lovely time, I know exactly what you are saying about little cake thing in almond icing, to me it for some reason testes like eating a " stink bug " lolooo 🤣👍
I like tarts... I don't care if they are from Bakewell or not, I have low standard lol :)... That said, I'm from Derbyshire so Bakewell is my favourite Derbyshire town!
@@hayleyhoehne7460 I'm sorry to say it gets worse, Bakewell tarts are what the rest of the world gets. If you want a proper Bakewell pudding, you have to go to Bakewell... Call me biased, but I'd chop me arm off for a proper Bakewell Pudding!
Vegemite is virtually the same thing as marmite in that it starts off as the remnants of the making process, but I believe veggies are added to Vegemite. I’m guessing burnt cabbage as that is what it tastes like to lots of Brits.
Oh we love a chiko roll! We rarely have Red Rooster, we find that we don't see many of them around anymore unfortunately! When we do I do love their chips but honestly haven't had it in so long!
I love the way you guys don't edit out your mistakes, like Leah finding out Dr Pepper is American. By the way you can buy Dr Pepper in some selected Aussie shops and supermarkets. I agree with TJ, can't beat good old Aussie food and my English born wife agrees!
Haha thanks Brian, I have no idea why I thought Dr Pepper was English 🤣🤣 Oh your wife agrees? I still prefer my English food haha! I was like a kid in a candy shop as soon as I hit the supermarket over there 😜
That was fun. 😊 the marmite definitely looks disgusting when it’s spread thick doesn’t it. I hate sweet jelly but that aspic gel from pork is really yum. It’s all what you grow up with eh.
marmite is yeast extract, so it will be very salty (not to mention sticky) for the best quality marmite test i would recomend not too much marmite spread on toast with butter. don;t do what americans do and put loads...that is overkill. marmite is good for one thing though (probably vegemite too actually) and that is cramps, if you have a cramp in your leg or something take some marmite and it will help...the salt in your body will loosen the cramp.
marmite is a new recipe not like the old recipe i was brought up with... when we lived in the US for 4 years i missed the old bonfire night feasts where we would have hot roasted chestnuts, baked potatos, bonfire toffee made from treacle and black treacle... but im guessing that was before your time too lol we used to go out during the weekend and do 'penny for the guy' making a guyforks out dads old clothes lol then trick or treating, always was good fun even if we didnt get a repsonse... penguins chocolate is more fatty than they used to be... just another treat that changed over time because the health ministry wants healthier snacks... the cost of space raiders in my day was 5p per pack then went up my pack lunch had a pack in every other day changing with monster munch or regular crisps but i dont like salt and vinegar so i swopped em with a friend for what he had... porkpie is eaten hot or cold, i used to have it with salad but in winter we ad it with bubble and squeak and white sauce gravy.
This is awesome! Interesting to hear how much it's all changed over time! Oh wow, I've actually never even tried a pork pie hot! Maybe I'll have to try one day 😁
@@fivedownunder if you want a tasty treat then cube up some spuds and then deep fry, once cooked sprinkle on grated cheese of your choice... i prefer cheddar over mine once the heat melts it they really tasty... also add seasoning before cheese will give a better taste, i like pickled onion monster munch crushed and sprinkled under the cheese first...
I love a Penguin. We recently got Tim Tams here. Tim Tams are next level good, they destroy Penguins. I'll fight you on the Marmite though. Vegemite is like burnt, dry Marmite. I bought a jar, it was OK but... I ended up tossing it out because why would I eat that when I have Marmite?
😂 love you guys. I'm with you Tj , pies are hot, beer is cold. Those pickled onion chips though with a bit of kabana an cheese. 😂
Hahahahaha 🤣🤣 oh yes that sounds like a good combo right! 💯

It's crazy that Vegemite and Marmite are so different isn't it!
Agreed, pork pies cold! 🙌😁

Prawn cocktail crisps are my absolute favourite! 🤤
The pastry on a pork pie is a hot water pastry.
Oh wow, interesting 😊 didn't even know that was a thing?

I love The jelly in pork pies. I get upset when some makers don't put it in.

We did try haggis while in Scotland but I think that's as adventurous as we were getting 🤣
You wouldn’t be able to pay me to eat that pork pie 😂 I love marmite and those fruit straps though! Hilarious you thought Dr Pepper was English 😂
Hahahaha how did I not know where Dr Pepper was from! 😂🤭
If you want British soft drinks, Vimto and Irn Bru... oh oh oh and the best ever... Dandelion and Burdock!
Hot vimto!
Dandelion & Burdock is awesome 🥰🥰🥰
@@Mark_Bickerton ... not had it for years.
Hot Vimto 😯😯

yeah i prefer pork pies without the jelly too. It is all about the pastry for me though. my dream pork pie has no jelly or pork lol.

American Dr Pepper, readily available in our supermarkets.

Penguins biscuits are just chocolate bourbons covered in chocolate.
I've just learnt this 🤯🤯🤯
If you want to try a British drink try Irn Bru (iron brew) from Scotland. It outsells Coca Cola in Scotland.
Yea we've had that before 😁 we really like it!

The single gang UK Type G power point up on the wall behind the TV was the give away to me.
Hahaha that's so funny! 🤣🤣 Good eyes 😉
cold pie to go with a warn beer :)
We do our temperatures a little different in the UK don't we 😂
Tim tams are a copy of the penguin, the biscuit is a bourbon biscuit. I think the chocolate on a penguin tastes better.

Pretty sure Dr Pepper was confused with Dandelion and Burdock... I reckon they're based on the same thing, some kind of root

Surely should have got Vimto :)
Haha yes! I tried to find it in the shops when I got the rest of the food but couldn't find it. I also wanted to find tizer!
Marzipan is literally almond paste.
Ohhh well there ya go 😁😜
Maybe your thinking of Dandelion and Burdock instead of Dr Pepper. Is that a thing in Australia?

Glad we have nicer food in Aussie

You had a British Dr Pepper, the can looks different in America, so does the ingredients list. American Dr Pepper is much better
I actually just looked this up, as I didn't realize but the British Dr Pepper is made slightly different to the American version 🤯
Hot english mustard on the pork pie is a must.
I've never tried this 🤯
