You point out that the infused olive oil is super expensive. Have you ever tried putting a big package of peeled garlic into a slow cooker with a whole bottle of good olive oil? You can also do this in the oven on low. The oil tastes lovely and the garlic is great just by itself on bread or in recipes. I'm including a youtube video that shows how to do it. th-cam.com/video/h09FlhkX82A/w-d-xo.html
@@frumitup AWww, you're so kind! I see you know how to do this trick with the garlic - just finished one of your videos on Shabbat prep. I really enjoy your videos! I love your tips for keeping veggies fresh. Very helpful since I hate to waste food. Warm regards to you and your lovely family!
Can you do a video on Kosher over the counter medications for flu and pain and such like this. I’m new to my Jewish roots and I’d say I’m more on the orthodox side of my faith. But I’m still learning! Thank you! Shalom!
You're absolutely not crazy about rejecting dented cans. I do it all the time, regardless of what is in it. My grandmother taught me that lesson, she was always worried about the inner lining of the cans being cracked and contaminating the food inside.
mon cher docteur, you are SO RIGHT to check cans for dents! back in the early 60’s here in the states, a couple of women died of botulism attributed to a shared lunch of canned tuna. even though i was only 6 years old at the time, i have vivid memories of what andy warhol dubbed “the tunafish disaster*” to this day - not the least of which is of my mom turning into the “inspector general of all things tinned” seconds after the cause of the ladies’ demise was made public. although to the best of my knowledge the “killer cans” were unblemished, i came out of this national tragedy brandishing the equation “dents = deadly disease.” i’m also a stickler for opening egg cartons to check for cracks - never thought to examine the flip side for leakage, though…eggcellent idea 😂! came upon your videos quite by chance, and am hooked! especially appreciated your advice in this one for making fruits and veggies last longer. and i’m charmed when you’ve finished shopping and say you’re heading to the “cash” (caisse!), since i’m bilingual (french-english) too, with a son in montréal! ----- *warhol used this unfortunate event as the basis for a series of artworks.
I definitely concur! My husband ate clam chowder from a dented can once (it was part of a haul from a “Brown Bag” program we participated in briefly). The seal was still intact so the can “popped” the way it was supposed to when he opened it, but the dent had clearly caused contamination-I’ll spare you the details, but let’s just say he spent the rest of the day regretting having eaten that soup! Never again!
@@dragondancer1814 Oh no, I'm so sorry about that dragondancer! I've had my share of food poisoning and it's not fun. Yes, dented cans can be trouble. Yes, never again! ❤🩹
If anyone ever says you're too careful at the store, I can assure you you're not - I worked at a grocery store and it changed how I shopped for my family's food forever.
I am Jewish but wasn’t raised Jewish, well until I went to a Jewish junior high and high school. I learned so much, but a lot I don’t remember. I want to teach my children more about Judaism and I am really enjoying the videos. I’m especially interested in the O U D not being kosher or kosher enough. I always thought that was just as good. Love you calm and warm voice!
I used to work in a grocery store and we were supposed to throw away dented cans because they could have tiny holes in them that breaks the seal and makes the food not safe to eat anymore. Good job avoiding dented cans!
You're not crazy for not taking dented cans, you're saving yourself and your family from potential botulism due to the dents. Also, love your tips for checking produce! I've learned so much from watching your videos!
Since I was a little girl I saw my mom always putting back dented cans and now I do the same because it's bad but I didn't know why. Thanks for explaining 😃
I was brought up with the knowledge and the experience of nasty spoiled food in bent cans. I will never take bent cans even though now I believe they have that white lining that is less susceptible
Omgosh, you cracked me up! I laughed so much during this video. You are not alone b/c I always put dented cans back, check my eggs, and get ambushed by a testy self- checkout machine! Thank you for this video you really brightened my day. ❤
awwww you absolutely made my morning so much brighter!!! thank you for being such a supportive voice in my life:) I truly appreciate it:) we are the same for so many things including the self checkout ambush !!! xoxox have a blessed day!
I am now realizing the number of bugs I eat... A lot. 😂🐞 Dented cans can go bad as it weakens the seal, so definitely put them back. The pearl cous cous is called Israeli cous cous at my store.
I buy my spices, rice, herbs etc. in Asian stores. So much cheaper! Greetings and thank you so much. I'm learning every time I watch. Plus, you have a beautiful voice. A fan from Ireland. 🇮🇪
I'm not Jewish but having to be gluten free I'm always looking at the symbols on my food. I would really love to learn more about the kosher ones! I see them all the time and never knew what they meant, and am excited to learn more!
Hi, I was just wondering how you do dairy meals? I live in Ireland and we have dairy with almost everything. The more I'm learning about Jewish culture the more I admire Jewish women as it's logistically hard enough being a wife/mom but to work in the logistics of Shabbat and a Kosher kitchen I am in awe.
I am from the Netherlands. Both my girls have Jewish names. I am not Jewish. But whenever see you doing your groceries, I must have been Jewish in a former life. I check everything and don’t take the dented cans either. I love watching your channel. Thank you
I know this video is months old, but I just saw it! Yes, I put cans that are dented back on the shelf. My grandma and mother would always do this. Mother said that in grandma’s day, a mis-shaped can was often a sign of improper processing and potential contamination
Hi Katharine! Thank you so much for writing to me today! I love reading your comment and I am so happy your family and mine are the same: no dented cans will come to our house ;) have a blessed day! xoxox
I want to see more, loved your video. I’m not Jewish but as a teen babysat for a Jewish family. Will enjoy your videos as I love learning about customs and values. Thank you for the way you present your video.
I’m just going to say yes please to ALL the recipes!!! As for chicken because I live alone and I don’t need to worry about keeping kosher I don’t buy it unless it’s frozen and individual pieces because that way I can just pull out what I need. As for the dented cans? My late mother always told me it wasn’t safe to eat food in dented cans and well I don’t know if it’s true or not, always listen to mom!
I just viewed this video a couple of days ago, and I was stunned Sara when you said $283.00! I was expecting around $350.00 + So, way to go! You're a tough act to follow! Good job! 🥰😁🥰
There is no reason at all for you to have shown up in my suggestions but three hours later here we are. Thank you for making these videos, this is so interesting, as well as calming
Hi I love watching your videos. I am not Jewish but I was amazed when I watched all the bug's that came from veg and fruit. I felt quite sick realising I have eaten some really nasty stuff. You have tough me so much thank you so much. Please keep your videos coming and if no one told you today, you are amazing thank you thank you.
From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU!! Thank you for sharing content that is focused on keeping our faith, being modest in dress, taking care of our families and ourselves, whilst working. I truly appreciate your videos that I found today! I am thankful for learning by your example and what you share with us. I’ve learned so much! The way you tell us we are enough… that really means the world! Thank you again for all you do!!
Thanks so much for the Walmart sharing plan for Kosher groceries because I use them for delivery. Since I never go there, I had no idea what they have that is kosher. Not knowing that I was Sephardic Jewish until recently has given me so much to learn!
I don’t know about you, but groceries are INSANELY expensive in the PNW! Thanking God that He has blessed us with the finances to buy what we need each week. I also reject damaged cans - you are not alone. Enjoy your videos ❤ I subscribed!!!
I just love how organized you are, it is amazing 😂! I don't eat Kosher but I am gluten free and have to do that with a strict budget, so I have to put a lot of concentration into what I am buying. It was really interesting to see what you buy, I'd love to know more about the labels too
thank you so much ! I am so happy it was helpful to you and i am so grateful you took the time to write to me! what would you like to learn more in depth about the labels Scilla? TYTLMK so i can better answer your question! have a blessed day
I'm not Jewish or religious in the slightest, but I absolutely adore your videos, they're so interesting and actually really calming - I love your accent too! As for checking labels and such, I'm vegan so I'm constantly checking for sneaky added milk or eggs or honey etc. It can be such a nightmare!
My family isn't Jewish. But we enjoy watching your viedos. And learning about your culture and cooking. We try to eat organic and non gmo as much as possible. My oldest special needs son now enjoys reading food labels. To find kosher foods to replace highly processed/ not good for us foods we eat.
No. It’s not just you. 😂 Sara, you’re kitchen is an organizers dream and you are a Super Woman! It blows my mind that you’ve not only created a beautiful, warm, very organized, home, but have a full time job, are a full time wife, have three beautiful children, and still make the time to focus on your relationship with G-d and your spiritual studies. On top of everything, you share your wisdom with all of your viewers and do it in a way that is soooooo relaxing to watch. Your energy is joyous. Thank you.
Hi! Last time I checked, Stubb's barbecue sauce was OU Kosher certified. It's absolutely delicious! It topped America's Test Kitchen's last BBQ sauce rankings.
I love how organized you are! I'm from Toronto and our Walmart is very similar. I like to get the clover leaf tuna as I find it is often cheaper and tastes better. Please do share your recipes!
Hi Alona! Thank you so much for your comment❤️ I try to be organized but sometimes it’s not a full success and we still end up ordering out!! 😂😜😂😜😂 I will with pleasure share my recipes! Shabbat shalom mom Amie de Toronto ❤️
Your kosher shop is about what I spend for my 2 daughters and I here in N.Z. I'm enjoying learning about being Jewish through your videos. Love and blessings to you and your family from my girls and I.
This is really beautiful. I'm not Jewish, but I have always separated meat from dairy, bought organic food, and always ate clean healthy diet. I'd live to see some of your recipes plzzzz 🤩
Is all Jewish women so wise like you? Your energy are so contagious and thank you for all the important tips on housekeeping. It’s so much to learn from you. 🙏♥️
Wow, I so admire your organization! It takes a lot of time to figure out a system and then do all the bits and pieces to put it in place. I like that grocery list template. (Funny aside - you have very nice handwriting for a doctor! :)) I guessed $250 for the total (and winced). Good for you for taking shortcuts like paper plates! It's a form of self care and no apologies needed. Thank you for sharing this with us. BTW, my ex had a mania about dented cans! He may be right, but until I met him I had never thought about it. Now I put them back too. Shabbat Shalom, Sara Malka.
Awwwww Open sesame what would I do without you? Your kind words and support are invaluable ❤️ I try to be organized in the kitchen to maximize my cooking/ shopping time! But it does not always work and then we order out ( which is for me another form of self care with the paper plates😜) Thank you again for your support that just lift me up to strive and want to be better Stay safe and blessed my sweet Open sesame
I want to see more. I have a family of four and we eat a vegan diet. I live in Nebraska and my budget is now $200 USD a week. I thought our groceries were expensive until I saw your prices!
I'm addicted to your channel. Lol. I love the recipes and especially the shopping trips. I'm a shopper, I love going around town to find the best deals on my weekly mealplan items, and I have lots of family/friends with special diets, so seeing you find kosher items just tickles my fancy so much! Nothing beats that "Oh, this is (peanut free/vegan/kosher/what-have-you)! I can BUY THIS!" rush, haha.
I totally want to see more 🙂 and btw it's not only you with damaged tins and checking the eggs for cracks. I love your videos, they are so informative and you make it fun to learn about your culture. Thank you so much for sharing this part of your life. Please stay safe. Greetings from Ireland 🍀
This was so fun! I use binders and lists also for everything from cleaning, cooking and budgeting. I have a binder for our camper, gardening and volunteer work at our church and our pets. If I see that there is a can with a dent I don’t buy it. My mom taught me that. 🥰 Also I look at the eggs and dates of everything. I buy whole chicken at .99 per pound. I live in the Midwest and I think prices are lower here. God bless and take care!
Hi Amie! You are absolutely adorable! Thank you so much for your comment! I am so happy we are lists/ binders sisters !!! I am so happy to read that a can with a bump is a no go 🙅 my mom is also the one who taught me that!!! Our moms are the best!!! 99 cents /lbs for chicken is a price we would find in the 50’s 🥰😂❤️😂🥰😂!! Good for you to make that kind of economy on your groceries!!! Thank you again for being so kind and generous with your time and comment: it means a lot to me❤️❤️❤️ Stay safe and blessed my sweet Amie🥰
Never thought I’d be watching videos of people shopping but you definitely made it interesting and kind of fun I must admit. I’m still leaning about kosher traditions and want to soon eat only kosher well my children & I. Thank you & Shalom
Hi Dr. Sara, I'm making my way through your videos, and really enjoying them. When I buy eggs, I open the carton to check for cracks, then I smell the inside of the carton for any unpleasant odors. I'm a little extra. 🤣
I love how informative your videos are! I learn so much from watching your shopping and hearing how you choose produce and how it is cleaned and stored as well. Some of the items you chose and why you chose them answered many questions I have had for a while. I also enjoy your upbeat, positive attitude!
I want to see more.... I'm a seventy-five-year-old Christian woman from Kansas City Missouri in the United States I have memories as a young child in Bible school that we got to go to our local synagogue and toured it.. I love hearing of your customs and watching what you buy that is kosher❤
I'd love to see more ! Very curious about your salmon dish ! (Being Scandinavian, I was brought up on fish. Fresh from the sea). Right now in june it's mackerel season. My two favourite mackerel recipes are; 1) Fillets dusted in flour with salt and black pepper, then fried in butter. Until golden and crisp. 🐟 🐟 🐟 🐟 2) Slowly simmered as thick slices. In water, with crown dill, (stems included), lemon slices, and white peppercorns. Both dishes are served with steamed new potatoes, pickled cucumber, crisp green salad leaves, and sour cream/créme fraiche. Home made tinned pears in syrup, with dark chocolate sauce, is what what I crave for a summer dessert. I think your shopping haul would cost twice as much here ! 🛒 💸💸💸💸💸 L💖ve from Norway 🤗🇳🇴
@@frumitup Hello again ! Oh yes. Food prices are hitting the roof here. Wich is a real problem for low income households. 🥪🍝🥪🍝🥪🍝🥪 Some price examples ; One of those big chickens would cost US$ 10 -15 per kilo in Norway. If they were roughly 2.4 kilo each, that's a lot for one meal. Only the French are worse off. If they live in Norway, that is. I've seen Bresse chicken at US$ 50 a piece ! (They're off course the Rolls Royces of chickens, but I'll settle for the Beetle VW version....) 😄💖🐔🇳🇴
@@ninaelsbethgustavsen2131 hi Nina thank you so much to Hagit to have given me such an example I haven’t been shopping for a few weeks thank G.od we just had enough sa per essential and I went today for the first time in a long time the large bottle of oil that was 10,99 a few weeks ago is now 16,99 !!!it is unheard of I don’t know about you but my salary did not double in the last few weeks this situation is really very worrisome and for us it is a challenge for sure I’m sending you many blessings that you always have the money to pay everything you need thank you again for being here sending you many virtual hugs
@@frumitup I think there's a bit of a food oil crisis all over. At least in Europe. Ukraine has been our leading producer of sunflower oil. Now there's a shortage. Wich causes a domino effect.... Let's also not forget the greed of the supermarked chains. Shortage globally is a fine excuse for them to fleece the customers ! 😳 Personally I manage ok. I like to cook from scratch, and I don't make too elaborate dishes on a daily basis. Years back, as a student I would create a week's menu out of potatoes, eggs and onions. And the odd scrap of cheese.... It was a great challenge, and it taught me to be frugal... Stay safe and well ! 🙂 🌸🌸🐝🌸🌸🌸🐜🌸
Thank you so much kcloufarm!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️ If I may ask; what was a new information for you? I would love to know!! Thank you again for being here ! Stay safe and blessed my friend!
I really love the calmness and gentleness of your voice, very easy to follow you. I know your bedside manner must b amazing and you can lul ppl to sleep without sleep meds. I know a little about the restrictions between certain foods and milk of course, I love to learn new things and I watch your videos now always. Thank you for sharing so much with us of your life.
Wow! You are so organized! It's inspiring! I am assuming this is not in the US. For some reason I thought you were in Israel but now I am thinking, maybe Canada. Walmarts here have very limited Israeli kosher products but the little they have are well priced. The regular kosher products, dry goods, that they carry are always priced better than the supermarkets. We are lucky here to have 2 small independent kosher grocery stores, a butcher, and a Kosher Pantry which acts as a food bank but is helped by selling meat to the public. It is still expensive kosher meat, but maybe a little less than the grocery stores that carry packaged kosher meat. We are only 2 people but expand to 6 for Shabbat meals. I usually end up shopping and cooking on Fridays. We have all different likes and dislikes plus those who have cut out all animal products and oils. It is challenging. I make sure my grandchildren, the meat eaters, have food they like, and my son-in-law has lots of fresh salad. I think my daughter is still eating roasted vegetables that have been cooked with oil but, I really never know from week to week! What is left over, my husband and I usually eat through Tuesday or Wednesday!
Sweet Ellen, I am always looking forward to your comment every week. Your comments are thoughtful, well written and just beautiful. You are right that sometimes I filmed in the USA, sometimes Canada and sometimes Israel! Good eye!! Your community seems well organized BH! here specially with the co-vid ( I cannot write the word proper or my comment might be removed by TH-cam) …the prices have increased exponentially!!! It is crazy and also the merchants are using this situation to charge more even if their overhead costs are the same… C’est la vie! I am always happy to read how you love and care for your children and grandchildren with their ever evolving needs: you are a true eshet chayil Stay safe and blessed my friend and shabbats halon❤️
You are not crazy putting back cans that are dented. I do it to. Plus I check my eggs like you do. But I also check the expiration date on the side. I enjoyed your shopping video. And yes I would enjoy multiple videos on your meal preparations. As it may give me ideas for new recipes. Stay Healthy ☺️
I loved seeing your binder system! I had started collecting recipes for this purpose and another one for the festivals, but confess the process was set aside when I became widowed. Life has taken on some new learning curves. But I seriously should get back to the binder idea 😉💕 I would enjoy hearing more how you created your binder system.
My heart goes out for you Gail. May you be consoled amongst the mourners of Zion ( it is traditionally what we say to a mourner) Just from what and how you are writing i see your are a beautiful and strong soul. I am sending you virtual hugs. I will with pleasure walk you through how to make the recipe binder! I am sure yours will be prettier and better than mine!! Thank you again for sharing your kindness with the world Gail, it tells a lot about you! Stay safe and blessed my sweet Gail
I want to see more . You are an amazing woman ! I admire all that you are able to accomplish and you are a wonderful example to all of us . Thank you for doing this channel .
you are the best Deborah! Thank you so much! how much do you pay for a full chicken in your part of the world? I am curious! thank you again for being here! shabbat shalom!
Yes,I don't buy dented cans, check dates on everything and check my eggs. I learned somethings about picking vegetables that I did not know. I want to be as organized as you.
Hi Riki! I am so happy we found each other BH! Yes you are right! I am a very happy person BH and I laugh a lot specially when I am tired which is all the time looolllllll😄🤣😂😁🤣😂
Awwwww thank you so much Chana! You are so sweet🥰 I do liove grocery shopping as usually I will order them online and only do a quick pick up! So when I do go shopping there’s excitement!! Maybe it’s just me!!😂😂😂 Merci thank you for your kind words! Shabbat shalom❤️
Late to the party but here it is: I want to see more! Just discovered your channel, it’s very interesting! Thank you for sharing, love from Nice France ❤☀️
I am enjoying your videos. I keep a strictly kosher home in San Francisco and am so envious of your trip to the kosher grocery market. We have so little here. No kosher butcher or restaurant and it is difficult. Love watching you shop.
I also wiggle the eggs! If a broken egg above dripped down, sometimes the shells will get stuck to the container and it's nearly impossible to remove the egg without breaking it. After a few wasted eggs, I not only open the carton, but also wiggle each egg.
I want to see more. I am definitely one who has more of a dislike of those self check out areas because no matter how I try to have the sticker or price code, it evades me. And I often will leave a dented can, unless it is a bargain or I need that one ingredient. I have begun to look at items in my store for the kosher signs and I feel as if I have you along as my friend. Thank you for sharing your world and your lovely organized routines, it shows a serene meditation that is present in all you do. I am trying to add this to my life as precious self care.
I want more! My mother hates religion so I'm not very exposed to it, but watching your videos is so cathartic. The cleaning and organization, and devotion to life! It is very soothing to watch while I do my own chores. And I also feel less neurotic about my systems lol
Fascinating to watch your shopping trip. It is very smart to leave damaged cans on the shelf . I know a man who nearly died because he consumed canned food which was spoiled. Thank you for your helpful offerings. Martha-Ann Ewald from Oregon
Hi Mary! I am so happy you enjoyed the haul! Kuddos for checking the kosher symbols: you are AWESOME!! Thank you again for your thoughtful comment sweet Mary! Shavua tov my friend!
You're not alone. I hate self check out, i also check my eggs, and yes I also do not buy banged up cans. . I recently found your channel and I'm quite intrigued I'm learning a lot about things I'd often heard and wondered about. Thanks for sharing your life. Your faith and your lovely sense of humor. I wasn't sure I would keep listening, but it's very interesting.😊
@@frumitup I second 🙋🏽♀️ I love shopping at a distance especially things we don't have here. Even some brands are different. (No Osem, Kedem, Manischewitz here)
I want to see more! I'm not Jewish (as I mentioned in several comments, I am Roman Catholic of Italian descent. Please keep your videos coming, as I enjoy watching them with my 96 year old mom, who also enjoys learning about your wonderful traditions and lifestyle. Blessings to you and your family!
Hi Sara-Malka. I couldn't wait to tell you that I made the tuna nuggets tonight and they were absolutely delicious!! They are my new dinner tuna favorite!! Thank you for generously sharing your recipe!!
I am so happy Claudia!! And thank you So much for your feedback about the nuggets: it means so much to me!! What would you see next on the channel: I would love to have your insights! Stay safe and blessed my sweet friend!!
Thank you! I want to see more. Dukes is an amazing mayonnaise. Can be a little more pricey depending on where you are located. If it is a similar price or even a dollar more on sale - the flavor is worth the price.
I guessed$325. That's close to what I've been spending weekly for a family of 3 (when it's just my husband, my son and I). Over the last year our weekly food bill has increased by a third. I pay about$14 for a whole chicken. Lamb is currently about $20 lb, my son has a bovine protein allergy and it's the only red meat he can eat. A big bag of about 9 individual servings of salmon is approximately $45. By buying the individually packaged units rather than one big piece I have less waste. Unfortunately I don't have a Walmart with a real grocery. I don't buy the dented cans either because it might have affected the seal of the can. I really enjoyed the veggie tips. I didn't know about the eggplant's bellybutton. I also really liked how you have your pantry set up and your binder idea. I would love the recipes. I want to see more!
Hi Frankie! Thank you so much for your comment ! You were so close with your guess of 325 and I absolutely agree with you that the prices have increased tremendously since the beginning of the past year and a half I used to pay about 200 per week for a full grocery and now as you saw it’s more around 300 and this is not even a full grocery with like lots a fruits vegetable aka a full grocery when you have nothing it’s only what we needed after I looked through the refrigerator the freezers and the pantry hopefully this madness of increasing the prices will be over soon!! I’m happy for you as you have really good prices for the meat we do not have that kind of price here at all for us let’s say some veal shank will be about $55 per pound🥺😢🥺😢🥺 I’m happy to know that I am part of your team not buying cans that have a dent on it For the eggplant 🍆 I just didn’t know how to call that round spot on the eggplant so I referred to it as the belly button but it’s my friend who is Turkish who told me about this and I have to say that it’s pretty accurate the darker the eggplant with the smallest belly button usually are the tastiest the eggplant will be thank you again so much for taking the time in your busy day to leave such a thoughtful comment I’m going to wish you and your family a Shabbat Shalom
All of your videos are wonderful. And you are so nice. Being non Jewish I’m enjoying learning about your culture, customs, etc. Regarding the dented cans, I agree getting rid of them. Botchilism I’m told. Great job. Thank you.
thank you for your videos. I'm new to eating Biblically clean and I am learning so much from your instructions. I also check the eggs and put back dented cans. My mother and grandmother taught us this to keep illness from botulism away from the family.
Hello sweet Gael! I am so happy you are here and congratulations on your new life choices! Please let me know if you have questions: I am here to help you! Xoxoxox
I WANT MORE!!! Actually I want to eat at your house! Blessed family💖 Sara, consider publishing your cookbook please and make sure you add all your tips and tricks. I especially want to know your spice mixes and uses. I was aghast at the weekly bill. It’s not quite so high in SC- USA but not such a variety either. My mama never bought dented cans so my sisters and I do the same. Mama knows best. Thanks for the lemon tip and especially the eggplant, I was totally unaware of the bellybutton tip!
I am here and really enjoyed this grocery shopping 🛒 with you! Could you show us more about the Kosher symbols you use? Thank you so very much! 💞 Have you ever been late on Shabbat? I just wandered what happens if you are just a little late. I am not Jewish, but I love the life and love all Jews have for Adonai. I am Cherokee Indian and live in the USA state of Georgia! Our groceries here are not as expensive as yours. Be careful and blessed!
Hi Mary! Thank you so much for your kind words and excellent questions! I can for sure do for you a kosher symbols of food video , it would be my pleasure! We do not light Shabbat candles if we are late because it would bring us to desecrate Shabbat which is a no go 🙅! Thank you for your love and support: it is refreshing to be loved and appreciated and not hated on … Stay safe and blessed my sweet Mary and thank you again for being here❤️❤️❤️
It's recommended to never eat from a severely dented tin canned food due to there being the possibility of greater risk of botulism exposure. Now you know that the Lord was warning you not to take that can of dented tuna home. Keep safe and many prayers for you and your loved ones during all these current trying times around the world 💗🙏🏼
Wow! I’ve never seen a Walmart with kosher meat! Including those around monsey! What a savings! Whole Chickens in the kosher stores in the ny area are about 15$ (3.50ish a lb). Yay inflation!
Hi Ilana! I am so happy to hear from you! How are you? So we have about the same price for chicken! A lovely lady said she pays about 10$ a chicken and even chicken legs at 2,98$/lbs!! Wooowww good for her!! Are you taxed on meat? I think this haul will cost you about $210. Awesome! Thanks for posting this! I like how you store your ziploc bags. I am going to invest in a binder like that it’s such a good idea to help organize shopping. Please do a video on how you cook these meals! The same spices where I live go for about $3-$5 depending on the spice.
Hello beautiful Sima❤️ I am always looking forward to your comment! You were so close for the price! The ziplocks organization I am so happy you like it!!! It is a big game changer for us : before we use to have open boxes everywhere!! "I want to see more!" ( Just curious... Are these US prices?) I just spent $2.89/lb (in a NY area kosher supermarket) for a family pack of legs and thighs--and that is considered a good price! Wishing you a Shabbat Shalom!
Hi Linda! Thank you so much my friend for your comment! 2,89$/ lbs is unheard of in my part of the woods!! We pay waaaaayyyyy more because everything is imported and taxed HEAVILY!! So bets price for chicken legs is 7,99$/lb!! Maybe I need to do a shop with me in your neighborhood!! Even with the plane ticket: it might be less expensive 😂😂😂 Shabbat shalom sweet Linda❤️❤️❤️
@@frumitup A lot of veg/fake chicken is delicious. I will look to see what is kosher. Some may not be bc of how it is made or what it is made of or where.
Spices in bags here are pretty inexpensive. 2-3$ US funds tho. I'm from Toronto, so most things r a fortune there, sorry. Smashed cans r usually not good to use. Air gets in Sara Malka

My mother taught me the same exact lesson on dented cans, so I get it too! 😉
mon cher docteur,
you are SO RIGHT to check cans for dents! back in the early 60’s here in the states, a couple of women died of botulism attributed to a shared lunch of canned tuna. even though i was only 6 years old at the time, i have vivid memories of what andy warhol dubbed “the tunafish disaster*” to this day - not the least of which is of my mom turning into the “inspector general of all things tinned” seconds after the cause of the ladies’ demise was made public. although to the best of my knowledge the “killer cans” were unblemished, i came out of this national tragedy brandishing the equation “dents = deadly disease.” i’m also a stickler for opening egg cartons to check for cracks - never thought to examine the flip side for leakage, though…eggcellent idea 😂!
came upon your videos quite by chance, and am hooked! especially appreciated your advice in this one for making fruits and veggies last longer. and i’m charmed when you’ve finished shopping and say you’re heading to the “cash” (caisse!), since i’m bilingual (french-english) too, with a son in montréal!
-----
*warhol used this unfortunate event as the basis for a series of artworks.
Would be interested in hearing more :)

Me too, it's fascinating.
I'm Jewish and I've learned alot
I am Jewish but wasn’t raised Jewish, well until I went to a Jewish junior high and high school. I learned so much, but a lot I don’t remember. I want to teach my children more about Judaism and I am really enjoying the videos. I’m especially interested in the O U D not being kosher or kosher enough. I always thought that was just as good. Love you calm and warm voice!
I used to work in a grocery store and we were supposed to throw away dented cans because they could have tiny holes in them that breaks the seal and makes the food not safe to eat anymore. Good job avoiding dented cans!
Thank you so much! I didn’t know the cans were thrown out!
awwww you absolutely made my morning so much brighter!!!
thank you for being such a supportive voice in my life:)
I truly appreciate it:)
we are the same for so many things including the self checkout ambush !!!

I am now realizing the number of bugs I eat... A lot. 😂🐞 Dented cans can go bad as it weakens the seal, so definitely put them back. The pearl cous cous is called Israeli cous cous at my store.

I like seeing how organized you are all throughout your home/life. I enjoy your videos. I’m not Jewish but we all can learn good ideas for living.

With pleasure!

Very curious about your salmon dish !
(Being Scandinavian, I was brought up on fish. Fresh from the sea).
Right now in june it's mackerel season. My two favourite mackerel recipes are;
1) Fillets dusted in flour with salt and black pepper, then fried in butter. Until golden and crisp.
🐟 🐟 🐟 🐟
2) Slowly simmered as thick slices.

Hello again !
Oh yes. Food prices are hitting the roof here.
Wich is a real problem for low income households.
🥪🍝🥪🍝🥪🍝🥪
Some price examples ;
One of those big chickens would cost US$ 10 -15 per kilo in Norway.

I think there's a bit of a food oil crisis all over.
At least in Europe.
Ukraine has been our leading producer of sunflower oil.
Now there's a shortage.
Wich causes a domino effect....
Let's also not forget the greed of the supermarked chains. Shortage globally is a fine excuse for them to fleece the customers ! 😳
Personally I manage ok.

And I also feel less neurotic about my systems lol
i am happy to be your "chores" buddy! i do the same with my favourite youtubers!
Fascinating to watch your shopping trip. It is very smart to leave damaged cans on the shelf . I know a man who nearly died because he consumed canned food which was spoiled. Thank you for your helpful offerings. Martha-Ann Ewald from Oregon
THANKS FOR SHOWING US YOUR HAUL I'VE BEEN CHECKING FOR THE SYMBOLS AT THE STORE🥰🦋🦋🦋🌻🌻🌻🐝
Love love love this kosher shopping haul!
I want more for sure!
Awww thank you so much ❤️❤️❤️
@@frumitup I second 🙋🏽♀️ I love shopping at a distance especially things we don't have here. Even some brands are different. (No Osem, Kedem, Manischewitz here)
@@Poppy- teaaaaammmm shopping!!!
I would really enjoy seeing your orthodox kosher kitchen.
Thank you so much my friend and please let me know if I can help you in any way sending you ginormous virtual hugs
I would love for you to share some of the recipes in the book!
I also made the tunna patties and my family loved it..my picky husband didnt even want to try it at first and then went at it
@@eleonorak5964 you are absolutely delightful Eleonora!! In the end what was your hubby’s verdict? Yay or nay?
@@frumitup definitely yey

Thank you for sharing. I don't see a.lot of.these items in Wal-Mart where I live. I would love to see more of your videos.
I also avoid dented cans. According to the USDA dented cans can cause bacterial issues like botulism.
Yeaaahhh I feel safer to have AdmiralNuke on my “non dented can team” !!! I feel more normal!! Thank you for that Admiral🥰
I’m happy for you as you have really good prices for the meat we do not have that kind of price here at all for us let’s say some veal shank will be about $55 per pound🥺😢🥺😢🥺
I’m happy to know that I am part of your team not buying cans that have a dent on it
For the eggplant 🍆 I just didn’t know how to call that round spot on the eggplant so I referred to it as the belly button but it’s my friend who is Turkish who told me about this and I have to say that it’s pretty accurate the darker the eggplant with the smallest belly button usually are the tastiest the eggplant will be
thank you again so much for taking the time in your busy day to leave such a thoughtful comment
I’m going to wish you and your family a Shabbat Shalom
@@frumitup Shabbat Shalom to you and your family as well!
Bet your bill is even higher now -
All of your videos are wonderful.
Thank you for your love and support: it is refreshing to be loved and appreciated and not hated on …
Stay safe and blessed my sweet Mary and thank you again for being here❤️❤️❤️
When picking peppers to eat raw, choose the ones with 4 bumps on the bottom, 3 bumps are better for cooking
It's recommended to never eat from a severely dented tin canned food due to there being the possibility of greater risk of botulism exposure. Now you know that the Lord was warning you not to take that can of dented tuna home.
Keep safe and many prayers for you and your loved ones during all these current trying times around the world 💗🙏🏼
Usually there is one lane open with an actual person. I don't like doing produce myself. I'm always hitting the help button.
I totally agree!! I am miss “please help me” when I am at the self checkout at Walmart 😂😂😂
We are : a beautiful 15%🥺😩🥺😩
As per Walmart: it’s a super plus but they overcharge on everything else that is kosher…
They gotta do what they gotta do!!🥸
Thank you again for your comment!
Shabbat shalom sweet friend 🥰🥰🥰
@@frumitup Wow, I have never seen that brand of chicken. I usually go to the Kosher butcher (an hour away), or get the Empire Kosher chickens at Trader Joes, but not too fond of them, they still have a lot of feathers on them. 😂
Will look for that brand at Walmart.
Yes, please do a video on the diff between OU and OU-D. Thank you. I heard you say you are a Doc, I retired as an ICU-PACU RN at the end of 2019. I admire how you can do it all!
Also, I figured you were also Sephardic when I saw the Seracha sauce in the fridge!! 🤣🤣

I’ve loved watching your videos and learning about Jewish culture x
I think this haul will cost you about $210.
Awesome! Thanks for posting this! I like how you store your ziploc bags. I am going to invest in a binder like that it’s such a good idea to help organize shopping. Please do a video on how you cook these meals!
The same spices where I live go for about $3-$5 depending on the spice.
Hello beautiful Sima❤️
I am always looking forward to your comment!
You were so close for the price!
The ziplocks organization I am so happy you like it!!! It is a big game changer for us : before we use to have open boxes everywhere!!
I am so happy you like the recipe binder
I have to say that i really love my recipe binder too 😂😂😂
I’m happy your spices are less expensive!
Maybe we should start a business venture together 😜

Why do you girls wear hijab
@@wheelfan100 hi Sebastien!
Good observation but they are not hijab 🧕 they are called mitpachat or teichel or foulard as married Jewish women we cover our hair as written in the Torah.
We have no obligation to cover our neck like our Muslim sisters and they cover their hair from childhood onward.
I hope it helps!
Stay safe and blessed
I love your channel. I want to see more! 😀
Even with the plane ticket: it might be less expensive 😂😂😂
Shabbat shalom sweet Linda❤️❤️❤️
@@frumitup A lot of veg/fake chicken is delicious. I will look to see what is kosher. Some may not be bc of how it is made or what it is made of or where.
I don't know how you do it all! Respect!

Spices in bags here are pretty inexpensive. 2-3$ US funds tho. I'm from Toronto, so most things r a fortune there, sorry. Smashed cans r usually not good to use. Air gets in Sara Malka
I also don’t take them!
Yes, my late uncle was a food engineer and always said to never buy bumped, or worse bloated, cans. I leave them too
