A few tips to help you be more efficient. Place a damp towel paper under ur cutting board to prevent the cutting board from sliding around. To open a jar that's stubborn, tie a rubber band around the lid. Work each and ever time!!!
Thank you sharing your weekday meals and especially showing us your children as they participate and help you. They are adorable in the way that they want to help you (and like to be on camera ❤). Brings back sweet memories of when my children were little and helping me in the kitchen preparing for Sabbath. 37:32
In our Lithuanian home, my mother made dishes from many cultures. She was fond of making stiffed bell peppers. As a child, I loved eating raw bell peppers. But stuffed peppers...no. I'd eat the meat and rice stuffing, but not the cooked pepper. Then, in my 40s, I ate stuffed sliced bell pepper appetizers at a dinner party and liked them. Maybe, in my 40s, I just couldn't taste them as I could in my childhood. But there it is.
I am an Indian Catholic- but your videos are so homely and lovely! It makes me so happy seeing your videos, especially as it reminds me of my working mom and how she balanced work, cooking, household chores and taking care of our studies! God bless you in all your endeavors, and praying for the long success of your channel!
I am a Catholic wife and mom of 7. I too love your inspiration and values - you have encouraged me to do better with making our Sunday a real sabbath and day of rest. Thank you Sonya
I love watching Sonya’s channel. It reminds me of my mom who was born in Brooklyn N.Y. In the 1930’s. My family is Irish Catholic, and my mom said the Catholics were on one side of the street and German Jews were on the other side of the street. My mom worked at Beth Moses Jewish Memorial Hospital as a nurse. She loved it! She worked all the Jewish holy days, and the Jewish nurses worked the Catholic holy days for her. My mom always had us in the kitchen with her, teaching us how to cook, and passing on the love of cooking. Sonya’s channel stirs up fond memories of my mom.
“Do I have yogurt on my face?” “Did you wash these? They keep falling in the garbage…” 😂😂😂 I loved this video with your kids’ comments! Thank you! And I’m always grateful for weekday recipe ideas. Blessings on you and your lovely family!
I love seeing your videos. What a sweet daughter too. You’re a great mom! I like how your daughter is more important to you than the “ audience.”That is as it should be! We’ll done!
I’m so happy you enjoyed the potatoes!!! They have become a new staple at our Shabbat table ❤️ As always, everything you made looks amazing! I’m loving these weeknight dinners! ❤️
If you don't like the fajita vegetables sauteed you can make a shredded salad out of them and put that on the fajitas fresh. It's delicious that way as well!
Your kids are adorable!! So nice you are modeling for them, how to make healthy balanced meals and making a treasure trove of your recipes for them too! ❤
green peppers no! behind scenes with children helping...YES! i love that you include your children and hubby in videos...it shows that you work as a team.
Why you don't like the peppers cooked is you're putting them in too early. You cook the other vegetables first, then add peppers the last 3 minutes. Crisp! Yummy.
As a grandma of 6, I have to say I so enjoyed seeing your children in this video! I am not Jewish or Kosher, but I love cooking and have been enjoying your channel!❤
Aviva (hope I spelled it right) did a great job helping! When she asked if you already washed the potato and said "good because it keeps falling in the garbage" I laughed out loud! Also, I used to work in restaurants we had a tip to carmelize onions faster. Just add a pinch of baking soda to the onions. They will soften and carmelize in no time! Just a pinch though, too much can make a bitter taste. 1/8 tsp should be enough.
Hey Sonya! I thought I’d share a helpful tip. The peppers and onions get “slimy” because you are cooking it all at once, the bell peppers and onions. So they are steaming because the pan is crowded try to do onions first because they cook quick. Remove from pan then the peppers and do in batches if necessary. Then they get nice and tender versus slimy.
Teared up over watching your children help in the kitchen... mine are teens now and I miss the prattle and activity around my feet! Love your channel. It's soothing and inspiring. ❤
Ooh such wonderful meal ideas...for cooked peppers to stay crunchy just add them at the end...Your kiddos are too cute....have a wonderful week ahead lots of love from Israel
Hi Sonya, I agree I don't like peppers or onions to be limp or mushy, so I add them at the end of everything else cooking, and they will retain their crispness! 🫑🌶! Happy sunday!
Eggs, but mostly egg yolks help fluff up what you put them in. When I make my bechamel I always add one or two yolks. It helps make it fluffier and creamier. I imagine it’s the same concept when you put it in the mashed potatoes.
I AM SO GLAD THAT I AM NORMAL TOO! This is just what I do when I get home. My kids are much older now, but I still follow this routine. I help with homework, hit some chores, and then get to cooking! My hubby cooks too sometimes so that helps. But wow....I used to think I was the ONLY full-time working mom with kids and wearing a Superwoman cape! I love you Sonya! Blessings and Shalom to you and yours!
Sonya you are so on point… I love every recipe you made on this video I never made any of them so I’m going to try this week to make them. Thank you for sharing the kids cooking with you the reality of most of us is cooking around or with the kids . I enjoyed this video so much . We love your channel and your family have a Great week ❤
A variation on the rice is to sauté the rice until it gets brown add 2 cups of water 1/2 of a lemon juice, chicken consume and add cilantro. Ey it cook until the water evaporates and the rice is done It's delicious 😋
I really love your kiddos dear...and I'm happy that once they reach teenage hood...they will already know how to cook because I feel like u are instilling that in them...u re such a good momma
I enjoy all of your videos! You are inspiring! Your family is precious. I especially enjoyed your daughter asking if you've washed the potato yet and the look on her face and the way she said, "good!" It was so funny, because I've had the same problem before! 🤣
Hi Sonya. I don't know if you'll see this comment but about the bell peppers: salt gets the water out of fruits and veggies. If you don't want them to go all mushy when cooking and stay ferm don't add the salt too early in the cooking process. Add it at the end, just for the taste.
I don't like cooked peppers either. What I do is I cook the onions and just before they are completely done I add in the peppers so they are still crunchy. I just lightly warm them up.
Try whole grain mustard on the potatoes. It gets crispy and is so good. I coat boneless skinless chicken breasts with it before the breading for schnitzel. I use it, as well as sometimes yellow mustard. They add so much flavor without salt.
here is a easy tip to make baked boiled potatoes wrap potatoes skin on with a wet paper towel put it in the microwave it for 4 to 5 minutes for each potato it is steaming in the wet paper towel and it usually easy to peel It worked for me and it was fast
For fajitas, I don't like must veggies either. So, in a hot pan or wok, with a tone bit of oil, separately fry your your peppers until you like them. Then cook your onions and then meat and add together when ready to serve. Everything stays crunchy! A bit more work but you get veggies how you like them.
We really enjoy your videos...me and my daughters wait for the video every time as they are so pleasant and nice to watch and I even try some of them at home..love from United Kingdom
Sonya I just love your channel!!! The whole family dynamic is just wonderful.🌷 It’s just me and my pets,🥰. I don’t have any Jewish friends close by where I can enjoy these delicious looking meals!!!! I’ll have to make them myself… using your videos! 🤣🤣 I always feel much better watching your videos. Thank you for sharing…🌴
Hi from Texas! Fajitas are staples here! I would suggest cooking your chicken in smaller batches to get good carmelizing on all pieces. Cooking fajitas is like wok or stir frying. Cooking in a very hot pan and stirring. It actually cooks off very quickly! The veggies will not be soggy either.
Hi Sonya from the UK. I just wanted you to know how much I enjoyed your weekday recipes. They always give me ideas that I can adapt to cooking for one! Its so nice to see the kids on the video and its so sweet when they help. You are a beautiful family, and I just love your kitchen. Its always so tidy and well organised, but I guess it has its chaos time as well! Take care and keep warm during this winter weather.
Aw, Sonya... SUCH great ideas & recipes (can't wait to try the fajita pizza and the ginormous salad & dressing - maybe BOTH on the same night!) and YES - LOVE seeing all the children around you, helping out in the kitchen, asking you questions and learning. You have a lovely family who's always very happy AND obvi very well fed! 🤗
Great meal ideas. Haven't had chicken fajitas in ages and I have peppers on hand so thanks for the inspiration. I loved how your little one played to the camera when she was peeling the potato, holding up the potato and the peeler as if this was her video. I think it is fabulous that the kids want to help in the kitchen because cooking is a life lesson they will need and it is great when they start early. You have done a wonderful job expanding their palettes so they will eat well.
Lodge makes great cast iron grill pans that will give you nice grill marks. They come in round, square, and griddle shaped sizes. Also, if you put a wrung out wet paper towel under your cutting board it won't slip around while slicing and chopping vegetables. Then it can be used for a quick clean up.
Hope you enjoy this candid behind the scenes video of a week of meals. I love watching dinner prep videos to get loads of inspiration for what to cook for my family and thought that this would make a fun video for you to see a week of meals that I Prepare as a busy working mom. I’ll take you along day by day and show you what I prep.

green peppers no! behind scenes with children helping...YES! i love that you include your children and hubby in videos...it shows that you work as a team.
Yep, it’s really hard otherwise
When you make shepards pie with beef it’s called Cottage Pie.
Why you don't like the peppers cooked is you're putting them in too early. You cook the other vegetables first, then add peppers the last 3 minutes. Crisp! Yummy.
I love the smell of Pepper's and Onions cooking.
Yes Ma’me love the kids, you’re teaching them to feed them selves!!
Cumin and Smokey Paprika should give the peppers a smoky flavor . Love peppers anyway though.😊
I love the meals you cooked, Sonya, but that last second, from the dinner table, was the best part if the video! Those kids are so sweet. 😍
😊 thank you
Love when your kids get involved, when you can here there little chatter in the background.

Your 2 youngest are so cute and funny… I find myself sitting here watching cracking up at them…they do bring sunshine into your videos
Yep they are hilarious
Happy Sunday everyone! Always good to see Sonia and her beautiful children! I'm enjoying these recipes!
Thanks Madeline

Love the kids helping in the kitchen!!!! Love all your videos!!! Post more, no pressure 😅
Doing my best! Thank you for watching
Love your channel! One tip: don’t overcrowd the pan with the raw chicken. If you cook it in small batches it will brown better and not “steam” cook. 😊
Thanks for the tip!

Just chop and add the peppers in right at the end just to make them warm. You still get the flavour but they remain crispy.
What a great idea, thank you Deborah! ❤️ Don’t know why I didn’t think of that
@@SonyasPrep haha...my pleasure. Love your videos B-T-W!

You have a lovely family who's always very happy AND obvi very well fed! 🤗
Your family is so darn cute. Those recipes look great too. The salad made my mouth water!
Doing my best, it helps they they are interested
Thank you for sharing, and I'm glad the paper towel on top of the pot didn't catch on fire.
God Bless you, and your family! Shalom from Arkansas.
Never had a problem with it
Sonya thank you for your meal ideas. Your two little ones are so adorable ❤
hahaha thanks
You are looking wonderful and you are beautiful inside and out, not to mention a great cook! I watch jar of fire flies too I love both your channels❣️
Oh thank you!
Thanks for the tips!
@@SonyasPrep You're welcome!
