The drummer is a beast! All their drummers were beasts! This band is so talented and one of the most underrated of all of the metal core bands
I've been maybe 25 feet from that drummer..and he is amazing, you're right, I've seen them maybe 5 times they come just about every year here to Virginia.

Alex Bent is his name and yes he's a great drummer and he's hitting center of Symbol for that sound. To REALLY appreciate what Alex is doing on drums you should check out his Live playthrough of this. Its great still here everything but camera is focused on alex so you can see what he's doing. And he makes it look effortless!

Trivium has been together a long while, which you can tell from their sheer amazing musicality. Alex Bent has only been with them for two albums, the fist being their 2017 release. Matt Heify is the lead vocalist, and what is especially amazing is his voice was completely down a few years ago. This is actually his reconstructed voice. He literally couldn’t growl for a period. Alex Bent is largely self taught. There are some great play throughs available that show Alex actually doing the drum cuts, and he is astoundingly good. The genre Trivium occupies is called metalcore. It is metal, but with the amazingly clear vocals, and the changing keys and rhythms, Trivium occupies their own space. The guitar duets are amazing, indicative of two guys who have played together a long, long time. Machine Head is also famous for guitar duets, but they are not nearly as clean vocally.

Fun fact..... Alex Bent is 37.2% octopus. 23and me said so. Also, you are correct..... not headbanging to Trivium is not an option :) Trivium if you had to label then would technically be "metalcore ". However, they are so damn good and unique, that the music they played is just Triviun lol. They are their own category of greatness

Alex Bent is the drummer's name, and he's a monster. You can find his drum playthroughs on TH-cam, and theh best part is that he's doing AMAZING shit, and he's just got this look on his face where you can picture a thought bubble beside his head that says "Hmmmm... should I have grilled cheese or PB&B for lunch?" like he's not even paying attention.

Matt Heafy joined trivium when he was 12! He is 34 and has 9 studio albums under his belt. And don’t take anything away from his guitar skills.

Listen to Pull Harder on the Strings of Your Martyr or A Gunshot to the Head of Trepidation, that’s some of their older stuff but some of my favorites. Make sure you look up audio though because the music videos are technically censored because they have some violent lines that were removed for tv.
Matt heafy has a twitch channel that he practices on twice a day 5 days a week and every day on tour. Plays video games on there too. He has always been talented and pretty gifted but he has gone to a new level with his abilities because of twitch. I’ve seen them 18 times live and he is almost perfect every show now. Used to improvise a lot but he nails every solo, every note, everything now.

This is metal. Rock dont really use fast drums or double bass, but it's light for metal, these guys actually made better music over 10 years ago.
sounds like there's a slight delay filter on the kicks, toms, and cymbals. definitely gives the kicks and toms a more intense sound if so.
