I can understand why Nintendo capitalized on this series. When NSMB DS was released, it was a reboot of the 2D Mario series that everybody didn’t know they needed. It had high rocket sales and the fans just can’t get enough because again, it’s easy to play and it’s FUN. People didn’t really get tired of it even until NSMBU deluxe, you’ll see a decline in sales but still it was selling 10s of millions of copies. That’s the power of MARIO
People who dunk on the New Super mario games dont know the joy of hunting your friends as soon as a level starts, executing them and stealing the glory of completing the level alone, or the humiliating dispair as you plead for them to pop your bubble after you were caught lacking
As a guy who had grown up with nsmbw, i say that every nsmb game is fine on it's own because let's be honest they are far from being horrible or bad at all, all of them are still fun to pickup and play , it's like they're the comfort 2D mario games whom don't offer to much originality and they're not meant to be super ambitious but still decent enough to play at least to myself
Yeah. not bad, but they all feel the same in a good way. Like you said, it's pretty much a "con" ppl that love Mario games can live with, but also if you only ever play 1 you don't miss out on much
@@jaretco6423 very true, but my point still holds the newer ones just lack originality that's it other than that they still have content like coin rush, missions.....etc
Even though U Delux was just a cash grab, the super crown power up broke the internet to the point of increasing Nintendo's actions value when Bowsette was made by the fans, this was one of the best accidents Nintendo ever made.
U deluxe was not a cash grab. it added challenge mode, which has 30+ challenges as well as coin rush and coin battles and i didnt even mention luigi U where they revamped every single star coin. well worth the money
@definitelynotchair U deluxe was 100% a cash grab. Only notable thing was toadette, everything else was just... there. No reason to buy it if you already have the original, especially since it has no online. Only worth it if you didn't have the original and this was BEFORE wonder came out. Now that wonder is out there's no point
Little fact: Apparently, NSMB2 was supposed to be a sequel to the DS game, which is why it plays similarly, has the Mega Mushroom, and is called 2 despite being the third game.
@@mbii7667 yeah. I have never understood why people get confused about this game having the number 2 instead of 3 since it obviously means that it is the second one on the ds
When i was younger i didn't know about the existence of the ds new super mario bros so when i saw the commercial for nsmb2 i thought it was a sequel to the wii game
Funfact: level 1-1 is the best level to get a mega mushroom in your pockect by simply letting the shroom walk towards the bricks. Once under the bricks, pick the shroom as close to them and voilà, the shroom will go to your pocket since you don't have the space to grow
@@tarekcat07 nope. The game thinks that you're still small so the bricks don't break. However, you don't have the space to grow. To not waste the power, it goes to your pocket and remain small
@@maroonedjacktar1501 mario is always been a challenging series espically back then maybe U bowser fight in my opion unlike the run chase fight in wii 2 and even tho wii and is the most memerable aatleast in U u fight bowser with a tool
It’s kind of just Wii, but HD didn’t do a lot really and also the fact that they tried to make the world map like super Mario world with dinosaur land by combining every single average Mario world into one which is so weird.
New Super Mario Bros. Wii is a tough game. Old school tough. So you better bring your butt-stomping A-game, as this will test even the most seasoned platforming veterans.
New Super Mario Bros. U was NOT pointless, the whole point of it was to make sure more people had access to it because the Wii U didn’t sell very well.
While the "new" series went downhill in sales and demand, I find the games in the series mostly improved as it went on. My favorites from the series was the Wii U one as well as Luigi U. I can understand those who say that the games got stale really quick, and I mostly agree...mostly with the graphics and world themes...but if you look at each one objectively, together and apart, it's easy to see how they got better as they went on. I am happy they ended though when they did.
I agree with everything you said here, except for the very last thing. I'm disappointed with Wonder. It's not a bad game, but it's not really challenging.
It sucks because I WANT more 2d Mario platformers. Wonder is great. Mario vs Donkey Kong is great. But the concept is exhausted and I’m sure everyone except me is done with it. Like the 3d platformers are all different and beloved. Sm64, sunshine, galaxy, 3d world and wonder. Why can’t we have that variation with 2d games? The first three Mario nes games were beloved because they were all different and weren’t afraid to take new ground. Super mushrooms, fire flowers, turnips, throwing, tanuki leaf.
This was a really fun video to watch. The "New Super Mario Bros" Series has a very special place in my heart. The first game in the series I played was New Super Mario Bros Wii and it was also one of the first video games I ever played. Ever since I played "NSMB Wii", I played every other game in the series. After playing through them all, in the end, my favorite game in the series is a tie between New Super Mario Bros Wii and New Super Mario Bros 2. The nostalgia and memories of these games hit me like a brick. I still play the games in the series and love them all to this very day... I wish this series comes back one day... This video made my entire day, and it was overall an extremely well done video!! Keep up the good work SF!!! 👍 I'm rooting for you!
The original NSMB was a return to 2D Mario while adding elements such as Wall Jumps, Triple Jumps, and Ground Pound in the levels. NSMBW added new power ups, secrets, multiplayer, and more levels. NSMB2 added.... coins. NSMBU added.... the same aspects as the Wii version except HD.
NSMBU added the connected world map the acorn suit (which is the best power up in the nsmb series right behind the mega mushroom blue shell and propeller musheoom) and luigi u which is the best nsmb game right behind ds and it had agruably more enjoyable levels and you didn't need multiplayer to have fun and challenge and boost rush mode. And it had a slight change in the plot where instead of peach getting kidnapped the castle gets taken over. You just never played U so you just assume that its just the same as wii. But nsmb2 is underrated but still the most unoriginal and it also had only 4 original soundtracks so yeah it's obviously the worst out of the nsmb games.
@Milesishere484 Never played it!?!?! Buddy, if TH-cam can manage to add images to this text, I could easily show you I've played NSMBU AND NSLU. And yes, connected worlds was clever but the levels weren't all that memorable. It was New Super Mario Bros again for the 4th time and it already got stale. I'll give NSLU a pass because the levels were difficult which made it fun to play through. But don't ever assume I never played a Mario game. Especially NSMBU.
@@captainseg got it but yeah i was just tryna show that it was more then an hd reskin of wii but yeah i agree with it not being that memorable and yeah it was getting kinda stale so you have a point.
@Milesishere484 Actually, Super Mario World started the worlds being connected. As well as Land 2: Six Golden Coins where you can also tackle any worlds you want. So yeah. That doesn't count.
I don't know what it is, but I've always loved all of the games... No matter how much they reused, each game had something that made me want to go back to it. I honestly dont know what those things are, though... (Except Luigi U, I love the challenge) All I really hate personally is going between the handheld and console games because I keep thinking i have the spin jump which results in having to replace my 3DS's top screen
Donkey Kong Country Returns & Tropical Freeze were shining examples of sidescrollers during the whole New Super Mario Bros era. It didn't matter much to me that Mario was stale, because DKC was back and better than ever... Of course that didn't last long, but it was nice while it lasted.
Nintendo is no longer an innovative game company. Now the only one that works is legal team and works overtime. We can say Nintendo is a lawsuit company now
I didn't understand why Peach was connected to Toadette. I believe Toadette should have been her own character remaining completely removed from Peach.
It just makes me sad on how this series died, but I understand why. I love these games, and they made my childhood. These games are super overhated tbh and are amazing
Wii feels the best to me, because I have fond memories of playing 4 player mode with siblings, dad, and uncles. Level design wise it can be pretty empty, but it truly was made for the multiplayer experience, and that multiplayer experience is what makes it the most fun. I went over to a friends house one night recently and we just speedran the game all night.
You said the spin jump was removed for NSMB2 because it was only in the Wii version to solve a problem that wasn't there anymore and that you'd talk about it later, but I don't remember you bringing it up again
I was alluding to the fact that the level design is more compact in NSMB2, thus there was no need for it because there's less empty space to cover. Sorry for the confusion lol
The hate that New Super Mario Bros. gets is similar to the hate that Illumination, Teen Titans Go and modern Family Guy gets. It's not so much the "you are the worst piece of media I have ever seen" type of hate, but more the "you can do better than that, but you chose the bare minimum and the general public rewards you for it" type of hate. The reason these games get the bad reputation that they have is more on the fact that they are barely indistinguishable from each other and just lack a sense of identity to get you to revisit them. They're predictable, but they're "safe" since they're just regular 2D Mario games so everyone knows what to expect from them. By the time the Switch came around it would have been expected to get a proper "new" 2D Mario, but instead we got a watered-down port of NSMBU with barely anything changed, making that the final nail to this sub-series' coffin. Compare this to SMB3, World, 64, Galaxy, Odyssey and even Wonder which are considered fan favourites, and that's in large part to how they actually feel unique from other Mario games, had unpredictability within their gameplay giving large replay value and don't feel like soulless cash grabs. Those games felt like they were made as passion projects by a team of developers who had big imaginations and not some corporate mandate that took the phrase "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" to heart.
I honestly don’t understand the hatred for the New Super Mario Bros. games online. These games are targeted towards a modern generation of Mario fans and game players, and are designed with casual gamers in mind. On top of that, not everyone owns every Nintendo system, so I respect the decision to make a new game with every new system. These games are fundamentally very good, as with every Mario game really. Also, I STRONGLY disagree with the notion that NSMBU Deluxe is some sort of “cash grab”, its main purpose was to allow people who didn’t own the Wii U (it’s user base was very small compared to the Switch) to experience the game. It paid off to as it’s considered a must-have Switch game. I think that it’s only the saltiness of people who dislike these games, everyone else can appreciate them for being quintessential Mario.
11:51 the ice flower was made to replace the fire flower in castles and towers, which have enemies that are mostly immune to fire. It made more variety since you would get the fire flower in most other levels.
A bit dubious to call it a downfall when NSMBU Deluxe sold over 17million despite being a port. It seems more like the WiiU held NSMBU back more than the series had lost peoples interest. While Wonder has new ideas it's pretty apparent it primarily draws a lot of core gameplay and mechanics from New Super Mario Bros. They only really got rid of the triple jump. I don't know, I think the series gets more criticism that it deserves purely due to the WiiUs failure and made it looked like NSMB had some sort of mass-drop off it really didn't.
My biggest issue with the original NSMB is the fact that you can't save whenever you want. Also, Boom Boom isn't the only fortress boss in NSMBU. World 6 has Boss Sumo Bro and World 7 has Kamek.
New Super Mario Bros Wii was the very first Game I've ever played it's what began my love for Video Games still to this day I love NSMB Wii and I'll play it whenever I get a chance.
In some respects, it really is the first. This is the first game in which: - The Koopalings are presented as Bowser's subordinates instead of being biological children. - Junior replaces the Koopalings. - The final boss has 2 stages of battle. - Bowser becomes a Giant.
Listen I love this series mostly due to the fact I grew up with it and they were my first platformers, but I am so glad we moved on. Wonder is an amazing game, and i seriously hope that 2d mario keeps re-inventing itself as it did for the first time in almost two to three decades
I understand why they added the ice flower, because imagine, penguin suit in all levels, u cheese the level with that power. I think of a ice flower as a simplified penguin suit and what u stated in the video as no sliding, plus they already added the propeller suit which is got to be the most over powered
While some may have less then stellar feelings for these games overall these games are fantastic to me personally and to my friends and family. Also a little laughable that while some may say these games are getting stale and repetitive it's a little more then laughable as these games have sold a ton of copies as fans have been there for these games when released. I still remember when buying my copy of New Super Mario Bros.U for the Wii U and the person in front of me was complaining about the game being just another clone of the past game. I commented back to the person "If it's a clone game you're tired of then why are you buying the game too as the person had a a copy in their hand and the cashier was ringing them up" said person quickly shut up after that.
First things first. I want to make some correction. . The whole open world connection started with Super Mario World. They also have alternative exits and if done correctly, you can make it to the final world in less than an hour. Not kidding. Super Mario Land 2: Six Golden Coins kinda has this too, but you can tackle any worlds you want. So yeah. Still nothing we haven't seen before. . Again. Super Mario World names the world after food. Have been there. . Actually and you might've heard if this. But Super Mario World does this before. Yoshi debut in that game and he is an power-up in that game. You can take him to any levels ( aside from Ghost & Castle levels ) and there's also different colors of Yoshi to access abilities like Red for shooting 3 fireballs, Blue for flying and Yellow for shockwave. . The last time we saw the Koopalings before they came back in NSMBWii for being more popular again is Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. . The World 9 trope is similar to Star & Special Worlds in Super Mario World. Basically New Super Mario Bros. U tries to be like Super Mario World of the NSMB series in terms of it's structure and layout. But failed miserably to what made Super Mario World so great and special to begin with. Same with New Super Mario Bros. Wii being like Super Mario Bros. 3. They just don't get what made the retro games so good. I'm super happy Wonder got rid of the New Super Mario Bros. syndrome and hopefully the next 2D Mario game does the same with being original and creative, while still having the Mario formulaic we've come to known.
I personally wouldn’t call it a downfall but more of an improvement, challenge, and expectation. It’s just that the bosses are way too easy, plus the fact that multiplayer wasn’t that good, and it only takes about three hits to beat them that’s all. The adventures for all the “new” series speak for itself, and despite the fact that it’s too similar to one another. Super Mario Wonder has the same problem with the bosses being way too easy, but the brand new adventure itself is what brought us to play it in the first place. In all honesty we would rather see new bosses than the usual Bowser Jr, Bowser, and the Koopalings. Nintendo should add more difficulty rather than 3 hits for every boss or mini boss to make it more fun, more new adventures, and improve the multiplayer mechanics. I don’t have a problem with the controls but a little adjusting will make it more fun to play that’s how you get used to the buttons. The adventures were pretty much the best parts of the game, and including the endings of each game. Furthermore the “new” series was a great rise to 2D gaming, and it had its advantages, disadvantages, fun, nostalgia, joy for multiplayer, and it made an impact to everyone who played it. 👏
Nabbit isn't completely invinsible. He can die in lava or poison or fall into a hole and he can be crushed into that color blocked wall that moves and he can be killed of screen.
@benmalsky9834 No. Not all of them. New Super Mario Bros games aren't bad. But there not that great. DS gets an pass cause it was " new ". But the ones afterwards aren't that special nor great.
I feel old now lol. The first mario side scroller you played was for wii. I'm 37 years old. I had a NES at age 4. The new super mario bros was a breath of fresh air/nostalgia. We hadn't seen airships since Mario 3 for NES
3:19 I could've sworn that Super Mario World was the one that introduced the Secret Exits that unlock alternate routes on the world map? Like, isn't there a whole jungle area that relies on you using this mechanic to find your way out?
Yeah, the game even tracks how many exits you got.(which inspired a long hunt to obtain all unused exists through glitches, which is conceptually hilarious. I love the videogame community sometimes)
2 confuses me with one design decision. The goal is to get so many coins, but getting 100 still gives you an extra life. And there are 1 up houses. I mean really? Who is that devoid of lives that they need to go to a 1up house in 2?
You know, I thought you were gonna make a video about just how new super Mario Bros DS is more original than literally every other game, but this is still a nice video to recap on it.
It's worth noting that the Mario Bros. Advance series (which were remakes) on the GBA introduced 00s kids to 2D platform games and helped spark the demand for the NSMB series.
I actually have every game in this series (except the remaster) and I like all of them. Such a shame my Mario U + Luigi U disc doesn’t work for some reason, it’s not even scratched.
Per an Iwata Asks, NSMBU was developed by the veteran Mario team while NSMB2 was developed by a newer team to teach newer employees about the development of Super Mario games.
New Super Mario Bros. 2 was rhe first ever NSMB game I played. I enjoyed the game alot, and back then, i had neighbours that had New Super Mario Bros. DS and they allowed me to give it a try and it was very fun. one of my family members got New Super Mario Bros. Wii and I was very sad to see that most features that were in Mario Bros Wii were removed in New Super Mario Bros. 2.. i got to try NSMBWii once back then but i didn't play it again for some reason until 2023 when i got my own copy of the gad in 2022 as an early Christmas gift. Back then in 2013 I was only used to playing NSMBDS & NSMB2, so I only got to watch my family member comppete the game. I also Got Donkey Kong Country Returns for the 3DS in 2013 and I played that game for hours almost forgetting that I even owned New Super Mario Bros. 2. Sadly in 2014 and 2015 we lost our copies of NSMBWii and NSMB2 and then a few months later after i lost NSMB2, we then got Mario kart 7 to replace NSMB2, which is another game I have nostalgia for. In 2017 we got the NSMB2 special edition 2DS but it broke in 2019 sadly. Nintendo Was my childhood mostly due to New Super Mario Bros. At the moment I have All the New Super Mario Bros. Games after I managed to re buy them and emulate the DS version. I completed every NSMB game except NSMBWii due to my wii broken, and I only got to play NSMBWii twice at a local hotel since they had a Working Wii. I was full in joy when i got to play NSMBWii again after 10 years and I reached World 3. I'm hoping to get a New Wii so I can complete New Super Mario Bros. Wii. I play lots of Nintendo Games too. Due to me nor being able to play NSMBWii due to my broken Wii, I got NSMBU deluxe on my switch and it felt like I was playing NSMBWii again. I completed the game in 2 days same with NSLU. i thought NSMBU will help me to stop missing NSMBWii but it didn't, I still wanted to play the game so much and I only got to play it again once. I've only played NSMBWii 3 times in my whole life. I still go back to NSMBDS, NSMB2, and NSMBU because I enjoy them even though sometimes I get bored of NSMBU.
What’s crazy is that although I enjoy all the Mario power ups, Nintendo could’ve capitalized on sprite power ups like in the SMB sprite animation series like SMB heroes of the stars, Mario bros Z, SMB worlds collide etc
I had the first game back when I was using an Action Replay on my DS. I loved having the blue shell power up always in my pocket. I can't believe it only appears in 1
The modding community for nsmbwii is insane and it makes me love the game so much more, I hope it never dies. It's funny because I learned how to install riivolution on the wii with your tutorial over four years ago, so, I have no one to thank for being able to play nsmbwii mods but you, SF.
The wii and wiiu (deluxe) is my two personal favorite but is so sad that the helicopter suit barley makes it into wiiu as a secret power up but super mario maker 1 and two has that so i could fly my butt of
I hate how people love nsmb. No ingame multiplayer, bad graphics, bad map details, inaccurate boxart refrencing, bad story. I would say that all the newer games were better, I have played them all and this is my opinion, I think you nsmb.ds lovers are just nostalgic.
The way I see it with the ice flower and penguin suit Is that they took the ability from the ice flower and put it on the penguin suit for some reason... Like when you have a fireflower and you come across some ice flower you think to yourself which one would I rather use? The fire flower can kill enemies faster but not all of them Well it's the ice flower can kill more of them but it takes more work... But if there's a penguin suit you would always just take that one cause it's better
The problem with the series is when NSMB 2 and Wii U came in. They felt like nothing but rehashes. The one problem about the Wii U game is that no one notices is that the Wii U game is the first Super Mario Bros. games to be a launch title for a new Nintendo console since Super Mario 64 and the Wii U game was the best they could come up with.
I must say that I love NSMBU. It felt exactly like the Wii version but different. It was a true evolution and perfecting of New Super Mario Bros. Sure, I'd have like more propeller mushroom, but you can still get it throughout the game!
Smbw was the first Mario game I had ever played on my Wii back when I was probably 4 or 5. I remember despising the snow world due to not understanding the slippery aspect and how to control it. Its soundtrack and everything about it sticks with me forever and I am definitely showing my kids the game and we’re gonna 100% that bih. I will always return to these games no matter what time in my life or how old I am.
The nostalgia hits so hard with the DS game… Practically ANYONE that owned a DS had this game. I remember seeing kids with DS’s playing this game, especially the minigames and Mario vs Luigi mode!!! Surely miss the DS days!!!
NSMB Wii edges out wii sports in terms of pure nostalgia and fond memories. Before our mom passed away, she would play this with my brother and I on the family tv and it was the most wholesome bonding we ever did together. She grew up playing the OG nes Mario bros and so did I, it was really cool to experience that with her before her passing. Always will be fond of this game for that reason. Such great family fun.
What made me not get NSMB2 at the time and still baffles me, is why would you make a game centered around collecting coins and then not add a ton of things to spend them on? Then I again, I guess Nintendo does really like just collecting money.
My head cannon is that all the New Mario Bros game happen all together in one timeline. Like when De ends Bowser calls his kids to help kidnap peach. Than after Wii ends he tries again maybe some hours later after his defeat. And so one
Well, at least New Super Mario Bros didn't pull a Sonic 4 where it attempted to "go back to the classics" and then force a game out on an incomplete/lacking game engine where the first episode was so bad that it ended after only 2 episodes. Side Note: It would be awesome if there was a game where Sonic and Mario team up together against Eggman and Bowser or some new enemy. It could be called "Super Mario and Sonic: [Include catching subtitle here]". Not the Olympic games.
I was originally gonna try to correct from memory that the Ice Flower debuted in Galaxy a couple years before Mario Bros. Wii, but Wii was where it first mattered and got real gameplay and usability besides making an appearance in just Beach Bowl Galaxy if I’m right…
For me it's interesting to see how this games visuals are stylized. The original DS release had a strong art direction, but had Mario looking like a thumb due to the low resolution, which kinda always bugged me. Both Wii and WiiU releases always came across as visually flat to me, like very polished flash games. In NSMB2 the art direction is the strongest of the bunch; Mario finaly got a proper screen resolution to look good, the color palette is bright and appealing and the slightly blurred backgrounds added a very nice touch, easily the best looking.
The down fall of New Super Mario Bro’s was when they started making every 2D Mario Game a damn New Super Mario Bro’s game, like most of the story was the exact same, the only difference being the levels and the worlds, and then soon that didn’t change, Mario Maker and now recently Wonder if you consider that a New Super Mario Bro’s game have been the only modern 2D games to not do that
Honestly at this point your better off playing rom hacks of all these games as they offer a HUGE variety of different enemies, power ups and locations that you never got to experience in the official games. The 2 rom hacks I recommend to everyone to get started on are: Newer Super Mario Bros Wii and Newer Super Mario Bros DS
I do hope after Mario Wonder every 2D Mario game will have a lot creativity Wonder was just perfect if you ask me sure the bosses kinda suck but the game had high highs for me to ignore
19:40, I mean if anything Mario bros 2 actually improves on what Mario bros ds created on some aspects like some new power ups, a more 3D look, a p meter that lets you flutter jump or jump the way Mario did in super Mario world and this game heavily emphasis on gold and coins, so much so that they have a coin counter that once you collect the max amount of coins they give you get a golden Mario statue which I think is pretty cool.
I just want to point out that the matching mini game in NSMBWii is not entirely luck-based. There are only a couple of setups in each world. When I was a child and played this game, I actually mapped them out for World 1. This allowed me to hit a couple of always safe panels to determine which setup it is and then just follow my map to get all items.
This series was a mixed bag for me. I had fun with all of the games individually. Especially NSMBU's Luigi expansion. But they did as a series kind of fall into a rut when taking all four games as a whole. Still, I'm glad they exist and had fun with the, especially the Luigi one.
I still remember the surprise to me when I played NSMB for the first time, and to me I think the NSMB Wii is the best, I still miss the time I played this with my sister. But the NSMB2 and U, well. When it was released I was graduated from primary school, the same period when I loss of interest of playing Mario game like every child, and I only saw the trailer of it. But even as a child at that time, the moment I saw the trailer, I know they just went wrong. It feels almost like a fandom game or rom hack, not the typical official Mario game that supposed to be.
Super Mario Wonder is a New Super Mario Bros game without the "New" label. But it plays exactly like them, and is a natural progression of the series. It's also the worst in the series, despite improving most of the core features. The level design is just too basic, the game is too easy. It's a great game for new players, but it's terrible for people who are even decent at Mario games.
Did he ever mention why NSMB2 removed the spin? He said it was added to cover an issue that he would talk about later but never mentioned again. Did I miss something?
In my opinion there is something very annoying in New Super Mario Bros DS: There is no way to always get a guaranteed blue shell item, but you need it for so many Star Coins and Secret Exits 🤬! Luckily they never did something like that again! Also about New Super Mario Bros U DX Price: the Wii U version was only for 25$ as the Selects Version, so for removed content they charge more then double the price
NSMB2 isn't lacking the Rock Candy Mines esthetic. The cloud and rock world are combined in World 5. It just sucks that there are only like 2 levels with the Rock Candy Mine theme while there are like 5 or 6 levels in the clouds.
Anyone else notice how he says that every boss fight is exactly the same with no changes but then he shows clips from them where the bosses are doing something different or the arena is changed to make the fight harder? Just me?
I actually just play those games in my Nintendo since I don’t have much time. I always enjoy it. Since I was a child. I like to take my time and find hidden stuff, it’s sad that they don’t do more of those.

It’s kind of just Wii, but HD didn’t do a lot really and also the fact that they tried to make the world map like super Mario world with dinosaur land by combining every single average Mario world into one which is so weird.

I'm rooting for you!
AS SOMEONE WHO GREW UP WITH NSMB 1 AND 2 I MISS THIS SEIRIES
@@jaretco6423ik that.
New Super Mario Bros. 2 is my favorite game in the NSMB game, I don’t know why. Maybe because I find the collecting coins gimmick to be really fun
Agreed
I don't know what it is, but I've always loved all of the games... No matter how much they reused, each game had something that made me want to go back to it. I honestly dont know what those things are, though... (Except Luigi U, I love the challenge)
All I really hate personally is going between the handheld and console games because I keep thinking i have the spin jump which results in having to replace my 3DS's top screen
Donkey Kong Country Returns & Tropical Freeze were shining examples of sidescrollers during the whole New Super Mario Bros era.
It didn't matter much to me that Mario was stale, because DKC was back and better than ever... Of course that didn't last long, but it was nice while it lasted.
Fans: What inspired you to make a handheld New Super Mario Bros. game around the same time as the console one?
Nintendo: Money!
Ironic thing is that the Handheld one was mostly about collecting money
there is no downfall bc that series is still good
Nintendo is no longer an innovative game company.
Now the only one that works is legal team and works overtime. We can say Nintendo is a lawsuit company now
You know what? NINTENDO can legally get a law firm if they had such licenses and law degrees.. (U.S.A)
I didn't understand why Peach was connected to Toadette. I believe Toadette should have been her own character remaining completely removed from Peach.
It just makes me sad on how this series died, but I understand why. I love these games, and they made my childhood. These games are super overhated tbh and are amazing
I'm still enraged they never added "ANY" of the flower in nsmb games considering mario wonder is in the "FLOWER" Kingdom
THANK YOU for listing the themes you used I recognized them but didn’t fully know which one it was, hate when TH-camrs don’t do that
I honestly don’t understand the hatred for the New Super Mario Bros. games online.
So this is what u were workin on for so long
@@CASEYKM1 yessir
This is the first game in which:
- The Koopalings are presented as Bowser's subordinates instead of being biological children.
- Junior replaces the Koopalings.
- The final boss has 2 stages of battle.
- Bowser becomes a Giant.
@@georgebrankov2143 it's sad that this was the last good NSMB Game sense 2 and U were well you know.
It’s not even like they HAVEN’T done that before as done with the tanuki leaf in Mario 3 in comparison to the suit.
The suit was great to slide like a penguin. You idiots hates everything 😂
Wonder is still absolutely a NSMB game. It just has more "new" things, ironically.
But also remove other new ones.
fun fact, the mushroom houses aren’t luck, they all have rotational patters they use so you can learn them and get every powerful in each house.
44:39 "because of the removed features I wouldn't be surprised if someone said they preferred the original game over this one."
Hey that's me! 🗿
2:00 Nice music sync!
So I wasn't the only one who picked up on it, neat!
As someone who started with NSMB2 on the 3DS, I would recommend NOT taking Wii's boss fights for granted 😂
Nabbit isn't completely invinsible. He can die in lava or poison or fall into a hole and he can be crushed into that color blocked wall that moves and he can be killed of screen.
As much I kinda love this series, letting it go and making creative 2D Mario games again was the smartest choice on Nintendo's part.
They are ALL creative and they are ALL great games. Every single one, even the ones you hate.
@benmalsky9834 No. Not all of them. New Super Mario Bros games aren't bad. But there not that great. DS gets an pass cause it was " new ". But the ones afterwards aren't that special nor great.
There is major significant in regards to Super Mario Land 2 being the last original 2d Mario game for 14 years.
36:56 The Year of Luigi also included Mario & Luigi: Dream Team, featuring Luigi’s dreams of multitude and magnitude.
You're probably right I should've researched more 😭
Yeah, the game even tracks how many exits you got.(which inspired a long hunt to obtain all unused exists through glitches, which is conceptually hilarious. I love the videogame community sometimes)
“IT’S OVER” or “HE’S EXPOSED” ah thumbnail like seriously you made mario look like someone who was cancled 😂
😭
Still think that Mario U slaps only because of that Van Gogh level.
I can't believe it only appears in 1
NSMB DS is an absolute masterpiece and I will not change my mind EVER.
42:54 "Only Toadette can use that!" WHY'D YOU GIVE IT TO ME THEN? IM LUIGI!!
FACTS
2:01 love how the jumping syncs with the bahs
One of the reasons I have enjoyed these games so much is that they didn't put a lot of changes from one game to the next. They stuck with the formula.
The nostalgia hits so hard with the DS game… Practically ANYONE that owned a DS had this game. I remember seeing kids with DS’s playing this game, especially the minigames and Mario vs Luigi mode!!! Surely miss the DS days!!!
Wow , now this is a big video , you definitely deserve a break after this work !
Hope you enjoyed it!
No way bro forgot to mention that Mario doesn’t slip on ice when he has the penguin suit😭

THE LOW TAPER FADE MEME
LO-
I was originally gonna try to correct from memory that the Ice Flower debuted in Galaxy a couple years before Mario Bros.
The down fall of New Super Mario Bro’s was when they started making every 2D Mario Game a damn New Super Mario Bro’s game, like most of the story was the exact same, the only difference being the levels and the worlds, and then soon that didn’t change, Mario Maker and now recently Wonder if you consider that a New Super Mario Bro’s game have been the only modern 2D games to not do that
NSMBWii is by far the greatest 2D mario game untill wonder came out.

23:06 Well, actually, there is a mountain theme, but it's combined with the cloud theme in World 5.
Did he ever mention why NSMB2 removed the spin? He said it was added to cover an issue that he would talk about later but never mentioned again. Did I miss something?
sorry i never followed up on that. I meant to say that it was removed because there's less distance to cover with the more compact design of NSMB2
@@SFproductions1ah ok. Thanks for clearing that up.
In my opinion there is something very annoying in New Super Mario Bros DS:
There is no way to always get a guaranteed blue shell item, but you need it for so many Star Coins and Secret Exits 🤬!
I loved NSMBWii. Once I reached World 8, I'd ALWAYS sit on the World Map and listen to World 8's theme while doing other things.
