They'll charge you extra because of the "chip shortage"
Always making solutions for problems nobody had.
What if you're trying to back up with the door open?
It won’t allow you too, just like with a lot of the Chrysler products with electronic shifter you could probably stick your head out of the window or hold down the door ajar switch that’s located on the door jam.
@@stephengulski6289 the 2022 f150 I drive let’s you drive or reverse with door open. It’s when you leave it in drive/reverse, have seatbelt off, open door and take weight off the seat that it puts it in park for you
Guess that’s what the 30 cameras around the truck is for 😂
2016 jeep cherokee won't even let you reverse with door open. 2019 ram 2500 with hockey puck shifter automatically goes to Park.
If you open the door and then put it into gear, it will operate as normal. If you put it into gear then open the door it will go into park
My ram a 2020 will do something similar to this. It'll put it back in park and put the e brake on... which is real fun when you are trying to back up a couple inches to hook a trailer up.
Yeah, my 2019 Ford Fusion had this safety feature
I guarentee you that automatic column shifter is operated by plastic gears that will only last as long as the warranty.
Knowing ford, very definitely.
I'm wondering if it can mess with the normal function of the column shifter. That would be crazy if it locked up or something. I'm sure there's way to disable it in the settings.
It's all electronic anyways. Ram has had a feature like this. With their weird knob shifter
It's useful to be able to open your door when backing up, now u can't.
I just want one cause there so effin nice.. I like cars but I want at least one truck in my garage
That is so amazing, oh wait my 2015 Acura TLX does the same thing except it doesn’t have a pointless column shifter when everything is electric.
I'm sure this will never break and leave stuck between the "paying for your food window" and the "getting your food window"
Most people don’t open there door at the drive-through
Roll the window down my g 👍🏻
I remember when they first started making cars where the top of the door is curved. And the ad came on TV that said "The door seemlessly integrates with the body." And my dad laughed and said "Yeah, for how long?"
If your car can't lower the windows, maybe you shouldn't be spending your money on takeout.
Oh, no...
that’ll be $12,000 for a new column shifter
For realllllll
@@XJon2011 I love my F-1 Shittys don’t get me wrong but sometimes they’re just straight bullshit
That’s such a great idea because when the sensor starts to go out it’ll just put your truck in reverse and then into park while scooting down the freeway lol. Not everything has to be computer controlled and dumbed down, some people actually enjoy driving and don’t need/want to be chauffeured around in every way. For example, If you can’t remember to put your truck in park before getting out of it, i don’t think you should be driving in general but hey what do i know lol
That's actually really cool! I wish I had that in my 2006.
Imagine needing to get away with your door open if you're being carjacked
Imagine driving around with your doors unlocked
@97Crazysteve sheeeeat, imagine driving unarmed
@@97Crazysteve I do it every day. I don't want to live in an area that bad....
Yup
@@97Crazysteve
Imagine a carjacker breaking your window, or driving with your windows down. Or even just pointing a gun at you with the window up and you try to fake compliance by opening the door, but take off instead.
So when a car jacker opens your door it automatically parks it for them? That's awesome @FordMotorCorporation
It's a pain in the butt feature along with the “Double-Honk” when you shut driver/passenger doors when motor running.
Nobody at ford has ever been ice fishing
Oh that looks expensive and will never leave you stranded. LOL!
The trucks cost 60k because they install gimmicks like this
@@TheAnnoyingBoss I feel like that number is on the base equipment side too
Exactly just another thing to break
To much tech my f150 4.6l v8 has over 400k original engine
@@TheAnnoyingBoss lol you are looking at probably a 100k truck right there
That's definitely gonna be worth the 10% price increase for the third year in a row.
A feature for stipud people that forget to park.😂 who the fack literally needs this? Straight scam. Straight facking scam..!
Already dealt with this system malfunctioning on a 2023 f150. It's even better because it automatically activates the parking brake at the same time. FPOS was repeated many times as the tow truck was loading it on to a flatbed. 90 days and 3 separate trips to the dealership later it's back in service.
I worked on Mercedes work van at work once that would slam in park if the door opened at low speeds.
Real fun to mess with the guys pulling into the bays 😂
Safety features are my new pet peeve
Yeah really driving me not to buy one lmao
Oh yeah you're a real badass for doing dangerous shit you know is dangerous. What's next, you don't wear seat belts?
This is an invention to solve human stupidity. People have ran over themselves or others because they left the vehicle in gear and got out.
@@coastaku1954 what?
XD
Sure sucks for farmers that exit the truck while it is in gear, walk beside or behind it and throw hay or other stuff inside the bed.
Exactly. Or you have to move a few inches forward or back to line up a trailer and hope in the truck with one foot in, and the door open with the other foot hanging out of the truck lol
@@rubes1688 all you have to do is put it in drive while door is open lol works on my expedition
Ive never heard of someone keeping it in gear while they exit 😂
@Matthew P works best in a stick shift but an automatic will suffice if that's all you have
Climb out the window
It doubles as something that locks out park half the time when the vehicle is not in motion and that is fun when you hop out and it is in reverse
The guy doing your alignments will hate you for this.
can you explain pls?
A little louder for the people in the back 🗣️
@@clickbaitgod6384 to do an alignment on most modern day alignment machines you have to do the setup then roll the car forward onto plates that measure the alignment. If the car puts itself in park it will require another person sitting inside of it to push it forward instead of just getting down to business.
And us guys that tow .,
He said it would do it in reverse or drive. So should be good for alignments if neutral doesn't engage the thing. The newer Ram trucks have that auto park feature anyways. Already had to figure that out
My 15 year old pathfinder just beeps at me, leaving me to make the decision. This just means someone somewhere has the power to wirelessly take your truck out of gear
Someone somewhere already has the remote authority to shut your engine down. Anything after about 2015 is crap.
/whoosh
@Juan Vasquez will more likely be boston dynamics, look up their terrifying videos
😂 i immediately see the situation where i try to reverse a few feet while looking at the ground or the edge of a cliff and oops it shifted to park as i open the door to look.
I have an idea about a feature: plastic trim around wheel wells so they don’t rust, and here’s another. Get the truck to 150K miles before catastrophic failure.
Can I not pay for that
And mechanics hate it. Makes alignments and diagnosing driveline issues in the air a pain in the ass
Alignments with this feature SUCK. I pulled a super duty on the rack with this shit and was sweating fuckin bullets not being able to see how close I was to one end of the rack
Now imagine bringing it in for a oil change and go to open the door to see how much further you gotta go to line up the hoist arms
Damn that truck has 53 miles on it brand new truck right there
"yea so you got stranded in that parking lot for 3 hours because your shifter return gearbox locked up and wouldn't allow it to shift from park. That'll be $3,000 please "
One more thing to break. We are training ourselves to be forgetful. Sometimes, mistakes are the only way we learn.
Yet it doesn’t for some
I knew I wasn’t crazy that one time this happened. 😂 I could have sworn that I had left it in gear when I opened my and them tried to leave. 😅
My RAM does that as well. It's very handy in case you mess up & don't put it in park.
I wonder how much that costs when it breaks and you know it'll break right when the warranty runs out😮
Another question to think about is how much are they charging you for them to install it when you don't want it
If you wear it out, your driver's license should be revoked.
This is why I have a 1974 F100! I can fix it all because I built it all!
@@dr0n3droid absolute facts
Well it's a newer model not an old model I'm guessing 12,500 since it's a new age tec
One more thing to break, thanks. Making older trucks great again.
So glad my 2017 doesn't do this. It's hard to reach the keypad on gated communities in a Superduty without opening the door and leaning out the window. I can still stand on the brake just fine.
One time, I had a rental Fusion with the rotary shifter...did the same thing lol
Awesome! Now you can’t drive away if someone opens your door to pull you out.
Yeah, Mercedes got this function and if someone opens my driver doors it automatically puts on parking brake and gearbox into P…hate it. 😅
@@themajki3381 that’s crazy. Cars shouldn’t do anything I don’t specifically tell it too.
@@themajki3381 Kill it with fire.
Alot of modern cars lock the doors after reaching 5-10mph.
Does not do anything at speed. You know how many people don't fully close the door and only notice while driving.@@jaymonmaddox728
people that Road rage won’t look stupid anymore 👌
FCA cars do this with the dial shifter. It automatically moves if you shut the engine off without being in park. Been doing this for like ten years.
Surely theres a way to turn it off right??
I can’t count how many times I’ve opened my door to see better when backing up (mainly for trailers)
That's my thought. I often open my door backing up to make sure I'm not getting too deep in water or mud putting the boat in
Driveing down the road, and you realize your seat belt is caught in the door so you open it real quick and suddenly you're in park.
Or the door latches wears out and the opens when going around a corner
Or bring it to a stop and then unjam your seatbelt lol
@@aidancommenting who the fuck does that
I came here for this
Automatic transmission is incapable of putting itself in park unless stopped, you're going to hear a clunking sound coming from the parking pawl trying to engage with no harm done to the transmission.
The biggest safety feature there is the key in the ignition
No more push to starts.
Agree, bring back physical key + chip
I work at a car wash and can confirm if you open the door while in park and then put it into neutral or drive it will stay you just have to have the door open when you put it in gear
Me opening the door to grab something while still rolling😮
R&D: "We need more reasons to charge through the nose"
Engineers: "Hold my beer"
Police need this updated on their cars 😂 u know they love a quick jump out
Police Tahoes already have it.
Mercedes been doing it for 15 years and my Mack Truck shift to N when I set the park brake… Old but new to a lot of people lol
I wish the police explorer had that.

Its also a sign of the zombie apocolypse.
@@chimneygeorge Apparently, the zombies are a large enough market share that they felt it reasonable to add this feature for them! X3
So what if you are being carjacked and want to drive away?
Not much of a safety feature at that point. Seriously, if somebody is clueless enough to not put the truck in park before exiting then they don’t deserve to drive, period.
It's a safety feature for the car jacker
