Wow, super nice video. I dunno if I’d I vent $800 into my 2015 with 200k miles, but it’s pretty nice and ridiculously good tutorial. Still watched the whole thing 😊
Great install video and commentary, well done and thank you! This is a tough one. Online reviews are terrible for AutoTecPro. It’s a lot of $ and hassle for the risk. Looking forward to your 6mo update.
Great video, but same concern. Online reviews are consistently terrible regarding the longevity of these units from AutoTecPro and also regarding the quality of service you get following your purchase. Seems like their website has now been disabled. Would love to see you do another review of this unit after a few months of use.
Im going say this ! I bought the unit and used your DYS and let me tell you every step used made my experience rather ez and I was successful able to install my head unit now I’ll customize it to my liking thx so much 😊
I have a 2019 F350 with 4' screen, I picked a used unit for a F150. Knowing that I would have to do some kind of adaptation. But apearantly AutoTech Pro will not sell any parts just entity kits, do you have any advice?
I was going to get this head unit for my truck, but it wouldn’t fit my truck because it was a 2014, so from 15 on up it would fit so I got the Kenwood DMX809S, with the kit was $1353 installed.
The main problem with most larger Ford vehicles large screen tends to block something important. If you go larger than 10" you either block your air vents or air/dash board controls.
I just seen one, they use a OEM Lightning/MochE radio, witch is this same style but not a cheap Chinese one You can also put the bigger sideways screen, that keeps more dash controll knobs, it uses the newer superduty radio, all OEM again
Im still undecided if it's worth getting a big touch screen for my Raptor. I would not do 4g but likely would use my phone as a hot spot. Thanks for the detailed video
So I just ordered mine and I just received it today. I used your code. Thanks for the discount. What is that extra wire from when you connect to cam bus It has a white tip, three wires, red, black and white. What is that used for and does the speaker still work with the GPS without having to connect the extra speaker that came with it 19:12
Totally awesome. Everything explained. Theonly question.. Android updates abd planned for obsolesence, meaning they stop updating the os for hardware making the hardware obsolete. Typically 3 years. Rooting is not a recommended option, but if you're selling after that point no big deal. Love the ugrade, but concerned about life cycle of unit. Any feedback is appreciated. Best tutorial i've ever seen.
that is always an issue but i think for the most part this should be good for years to come, since i am primarily using it with wireless carplay and media playback
Love this unit, I just have a question about the ac and radio controls? If you retain the ac control panel, why is it also shown right above them on the screen. Seems it would be nicer to have the radio functions shown at the bottom of the display in what would have been the original location. Can the display ac controls be swapped with the radio functions?
@DeaninItYourself I noticed when you removed the sync display module from the dash there was one plugin for the factory usb. But then when you mounted the sync module to the back of the tesla screen there was two plugins one for the factory usb and another and it was a completely different module from the one you removed. I'm sure its nothing but. Could you please explain? Thanks. I just bought one for my 2018 F150 with sync 3, 8 inch screen and auto climate control and it arrived yesterday Dec 18th 2023, Christmas present from wife. :) I will probably install it on Christmas day and im educating myself on the install watching your video. Fantastic install video by the way. Much better than the one autotecpro has, as you explain all the connections.
the removal video was from an removal i did on a different vehicle, because the footage from my vehicle got erased mistakenly, thats why it only had 1 usb port, the important thing is just to connect the usb from the port you removed it from on your model.
Thanks for the video, it was a lot of help. Also, the sync module holes are not wrong, you you just had it upside down, other than that this video is on point. Has anyone had issues with their ambient lighting not working anymore?
Looking into getting this head unit and was wondering two things: 1) Can you optionally use wired carplay? 2) How is the audio lag using the native Android tablet apps like Plex, TH-cam, etc.? There's an unavoidable lag while using wireless CarPlay, just the natural latency of wireless, but does the Android tablet apps have audio lag (audio not matching the video's like when people talk etc.)?
🔥Great video! If you don’t mind, could you answer a question I have? If I currently have Sync2 (2015 f150) but want Sync3 features on the autotec unit, would I be able to buy a sync 3 module, attach it to the autotec unit fitted for sync3 and plug up? Or is the wiring totally different? If so, is there an easy way to ‘adapt’ the wiring to make it work? Thank you!
@@DeaninItYourself Ok. Thanks. Just trying to figure out where to get started. I didn’t know if it was just a matter of getting the module and maybe some adapters so my factory wiring fits the sync 3. I’ll search around TH-cam.
Your video definitely helps the install of AutotecPro's display. I love this new display. Do you know a good Ford and/or Ford F150 boot logo that will work with this display? All the logos I found will either stretch it out too big or shrink the logo too small. The longer height of the screen seems to be the issue. Thanks.
This was posted about a year ago. Is everyone still happy with this product. I’m about to purchase this and would feel more confident with your endorsements. Does the Ford App remote start and remote lock/unlock still work?
I'm not happy with mine. I watched this video and I ended up getting one. But as soon as I installed it I wish I hadn't. It might just be me but you need to do everything(DIY) as far as the way it operates. There is no way of turning the system off. It is supposed to remember where you left off, it doesn't. The radio would turn on on its own. When I wanted to listen to the radio it would always come on with the FM2 stations which I had never setup. I have had to reset the unit at least once every 2 weeks if not more. I've had problems with it since installation (12/23) until I took it out last week(8/24). The final reason I took it out was my APIM went bad ($300, overheated, I believe). The OEM APIM attaches to the back of the unit at the heat sink fins. I asked AutoTec Pro if I could return and possibly get 3/4 of what I paid for it back since it has never worked correctly. They said NO! Nothing about it was straight forward. This product should work correctly without having to do anything once installed. Hopefully people have better luck than I did.
I just got mine installed everything works ! But I’m having a little fit ment issue at the very bottom it’s not flush the new piece hangs off just a little bit and I think that’s making me AC dials also a little loose and wobbly. Do you have this problem? Or idea what would be the fix ?
Mine would stick out the bottom as well. I never found out why. I can push it in but it just pops back out. I got rid of mine. I had way too many issues.

THANK YOU for the super helpful video! It made installing mine a breeze! Any recommendations on what SIM card to use? I’m a Verizon Wireless customer and after an hour on the phone and 2 different representatives, they finally tell me it can’t be done (with them).
I bout one from tello.com. just get a data only SIM. activate it online, put the SIM in the radio, reset the radio and the SIM will register on its own and you weill be connected, you dont have to do anything else.
@@DeaninItYourself Ohh ok, thanks for the response. I have a Raptor with the 8" Sync and B&O audio, I want to upgrade to this screen and hoping the camera quality may be better but guess not. Thank you so much for taking the time to response.
Thanks for the video. YT recommended about a month ago when I didn't even know this was a thing. Long story short, after much back and forth, I did the install this morning, LOL. The only issue i have is that the lights on the A/C portion at the bottom are not turning off. Do you have any idea what the issue could be? Thanks again for the video!
I just finished the install…. Looks great… however, the only audio I seem to get is the radio. CarPlay works, but no audio. The Android functions work - but no audio. Not sure what to do here. Also, the Wi-Fi keeps turning off whenever CarPlay tries to activate. Is that normal?
The next option is a scanner and tunner built into the tablet and boom connectred under the dash. So once somthing flags up you can read what exactly it is. Just an idea
Thank you so much for your video! I think I'm going to pull the trigger as well and get it! Just have a quick question I current have a aftermarket amp and sub and use Amppro interface. I should be just to add that to this correct? It just plugs into Apic unit that u-took off of the OEM unit and swapped it over to the new unit. Thank you again!
Did you notice any latency issues when using the Bluetooth feature. For example the lip movement in videos not matching with the sound. Thanks for your response in advance.
I just had my screen installed on my 2015 F150 Platinum. Came across a few issues that hopefully can be resolved fairly easy with some direction. 1. The back-up camera is backwards. How can I fix that? 2. When using Bluetooth, the sound is only coming from the right side of the truck and not the left. When using the radio, the sound works perfectly. 3. When I turn it on, it tends to want to restart and not start where it left off. Is that normal? I may have some other questions, but those are what I've come across thus far. TYIA
1. I think there is a setting in the radio to reverse the image 2. Check the connections make sure they are plugged in tight. 3. It usually reverts to thee last setting on carplay, if you restart within a short time 30 mins or so. Other than that I think it just boots up to original
I'm looking at the 12.1" option for my 2019 F250 as well. Does the 360 degree camera view look like factory? Sometimes videos and pictures make it look a little funky. Also, does your truck have a 3rd brake light cargo camera, and if so, does this system retain that? Appreciate the video and any extra input my man!
Can I re-arrange the top buttons? Or do they need to be in the exact order? I'd like the camera button closer to me. I got mine today but opted for the 12.1 can't wait to install tomorrow.. Thank you
Had this in my F-150 for 6 months.. Love it. One small issue. After update. When wireless android auto starts. Android auto freezes. I just press the multi window button and go back. It unfreezes. Ive gotten used to that. But would be nice if that could be fixed.
Hey I have a question- my F150 is a 2015 with Sync 2. If I buy this, won’t I STILL have Sync 2? Like does this upgrade you to Sync 3 or is just a tablet
Is there something like this that retains the volume knob and is just purely apple CarPlay? I’ve installed a lot of android based aftermarket decks and they always become super laggy/glitchy over time. The wireless CarPlay connection always gets super slow or glitchy eventually and there’s just too much going on. Would be sweet if there was something with volume knobs and just sync and wireless/wired CarPlay along with being able to be kept in dark theme. However, great video man, perfect tutorial

I have a 2019 F350 with 4' screen, I picked a used unit for a F150.
Knowing that I would have to do some kind of adaptation.
But apearantly AutoTech Pro will not sell any parts just entity kits, do you have any advice?
It's been a few weeks. Do you still like the radio? How does it sound?
It’s been great so far
I was going to get this head unit for my truck, but it wouldn’t fit my truck because it was a 2014, so from 15 on up it would fit so I got the Kenwood DMX809S, with the kit was $1353 installed.
AutotecPro website has been disabled. Any ideas why?
Same question.
A scam
I just clicked the link and went to the website just now
they may have had issues months ago but it is working fine now
Your video was the deciding factor! Mine comes in today! Thank you, as I know this video will come in handy with the install this weekend.
Glad it helped!
How do you like it?
The main problem with most larger Ford vehicles large screen tends to block something important. If you go larger than 10" you either block your air vents or air/dash board controls.
I just seen one, they use a OEM Lightning/MochE radio, witch is this same style but not a cheap Chinese one
You can also put the bigger sideways screen, that keeps more dash controll knobs, it uses the newer superduty radio, all OEM again
can you send me the link to this?
Great write up, I was on the fence about which one to get for my 2019 Raptor, but not anymore. Thanks man.
No problem 👍
Amazing step by step guide. Thank you. Great job!!
Glad it was helpful!
Best tutorial on planet earth
Thank you so much
I dont even have a truck but I enjoyed your video. Great work!
Thank you for the kind words
This Helped me install my Tesla style screen on my 2017 FORD RAPTOR! Thanks for your useful video!
Glad it helped!
Thanks for the videos . Quick question does the stock radio have a SIM card or I have to buy a new sim card for my new 14.4 radio
you need a new sim card, the stock radio does not have one at least that I am aware of
Im still undecided if it's worth getting a big touch screen for my Raptor. I would not do 4g but likely would use my phone as a hot spot. Thanks for the detailed video
the touch screen works bettter than i thought
Great video. Would love a follow up review before making my decision. Definitely following
I will do a follow up soon, stay tuned
Thanks for the great video. Two questions: 1) Can I convert my 2013? And 2) what kind of watch are you wearing? That thing looks sick!
Yes you can! And it’s an Apple Watch Ultra. With a case band.
Great video. Im torn between this screen, the Linkswell and the Alpine ILX. From your research would you still choose the AutoTec?
In my opinion yes.
I dont think they can be swapped but i belive they can be disabled
The module has to be mounted in this direction or your navigation will be off.
Looking into getting this head unit and was wondering two things:
1) Can you optionally use wired carplay?
2) How is the audio lag using the native Android tablet apps like Plex, TH-cam, etc.? There's an unavoidable lag while using wireless CarPlay, just the natural latency of wireless, but does the Android tablet apps have audio lag (audio not matching the video's like when people talk etc.)?
you can use wired carplay but it will only be on the sync interface. There is no latency issue with the audio in wireless carplay.
Love mine just wish they would add RCA outputs. Going to add a 360 camera system to it next.
Great step by step. Excellent! Thank you!
Thank you!
you should upgrade to sync three first and then you can just plug and play
@@DeaninItYourself Ok. Thanks. Just trying to figure out where to get started. I didn’t know if it was just a matter of getting the module and maybe some adapters so my factory wiring fits the sync 3. I’ll search around TH-cam.
I just installed the same unit. Could you give a little more detail on what you used to setup the homescreen?
check out my other video where i talk about using nova launcher to setup the home screen
Your video definitely helps the install of AutotecPro's display. I love this new display. Do you know a good Ford and/or Ford F150 boot logo that will work with this display? All the logos I found will either stretch it out too big or shrink the logo too small. The longer height of the screen seems to be the issue. Thanks.
I downloaded a few and use them. they seem to work ok. email me and I will send you the ones I have
This was posted about a year ago. Is everyone still happy with this product. I’m about to purchase this and would feel more confident with your endorsements. Does the Ford App remote start and remote lock/unlock still work?
they all still work
I'm not happy with mine. Hopefully people have better luck than I did.
great installation and explanation! nice job!
Glad it was helpful!
Hello. You made a nice video, everything is fine explained perfect. But I have one question.y is 2015 platinum but doesn’t come with sync 3 I believe my come with sync 1. Do this works with my?
yes it does
Great video.. I have a few questions.. will I be able to keep my SiriusXm with of course radio ID updated..?
I have AT&T wifi build into what im assuming my Synce.3.4 will i be able yo keep service.? Thanks .
Yes you will keep the same radio Id I am using xm
@DeaninItYourself Thank you for getting back to me . The sync option sold me . 👍
Something else to take my eyes off the road
THANK YOU for the super helpful video! It made installing mine a breeze! Any recommendations on what SIM card to use? I’m a Verizon Wireless customer and after an hour on the phone and 2 different representatives, they finally tell me it can’t be done (with them).
I bout one from tello.com. just get a data only SIM. activate it online, put the SIM in the radio, reset the radio and the SIM will register on its own and you weill be connected, you dont have to do anything else.
@deaninityourself What is the Sim card for? Is it for wireless signal?
How would you compare this screen with the Phoenix Automotive 13” screen? These two models seem to be popular for the f150.
Hi, thanks for the great tutorial. May I ask if the back up & 360 camera display resolution better then the factory cloudy display? Thanks
It seems the same as factory to me.
Not sure what you mean, but I would double chack the connections to make sure they are tight.
I’ve been looking for a new system and this looks great. I have a Platinum and would really like to get one. How’s is it holding up so far ?
So far so good, I’ve had it more than a year now
I just finished the install…. Looks great… however, the only audio I seem to get is the radio. CarPlay works, but no audio. The Android functions work - but no audio. Not sure what to do here. Also, the Wi-Fi keeps turning off whenever CarPlay tries to activate. Is that normal?
the wifi is normal. Not sure why you dont get audio from carplay. email autotec pro. maybe a setting change
The next option is a scanner and tunner built into the tablet and boom connectred under the dash. So once somthing flags up you can read what exactly it is. Just an idea
thats a good idea
Hello! Great DIY. Q: What year F150 is this good for? I have a 2018. 🤷🏾♂️ Thanks in advance.
it is a 2016, they have it for 2018 as well I am updating the link for a better source with better pricing for you.
Thank you again!
yes i have an aftermarket amp as well, all my amp connections are behind therear seat. so it should not affect the install of the radio
Did you notice any latency issues when using the Bluetooth feature. For example the lip movement in videos not matching with the sound. Thanks for your response in advance.
I havent noticed
I just had my screen installed on my 2015 F150 Platinum. Came across a few issues that hopefully can be resolved fairly easy with some direction.
1. The back-up camera is backwards. How can I fix that?
2. When using Bluetooth, the sound is only coming from the right side of the truck and not the left. When using the radio, the sound works perfectly.
3. When I turn it on, it tends to want to restart and not start where it left off. Is that normal?
I may have some other questions, but those are what I've come across thus far. TYIA
1. I think there is a setting in the radio to reverse the image
2. Check the connections make sure they are plugged in tight.
3. It usually reverts to thee last setting on carplay, if you restart within a short time 30 mins or so. Other than that I think it just boots up to original
Great video! Which year of the F-150 is compatible with this radio? Do you put a new SIM card in or use the one from my phone?
a new sim card. I got mine from tello.com. f-150s from 2009 - 2021
Hi, great job! Does the remote door lock on the Ford App still work? I heard that this is messed up on other systems.
As far as I know it still works.
Do you have the courage to make a video about how to replace the batteries in the ADT alarm panel?
Can I re-arrange the top buttons? Or do they need to be in the exact order? I'd like the camera button closer to me. I got mine today but opted for the 12.1 can't wait to install tomorrow.. Thank you
You can arrange them.
I have a f150 2017 xl. Does it work with it. ? Please let me know before i order it through your link .
Thank you
Yes it does.
Does your steering wheel sync button pull up Google assistant? Mine used to before I installed the autotecpro
Had this in my F-150 for 6 months.. Love it.
One small issue.
After update. When wireless android auto starts. Android auto freezes. I just press the multi window button and go back. It unfreezes. Ive gotten used to that. But would be nice if that could be fixed.
Heck for a new update
Thank you for the video! What sim card did you use?
tello.com
I heard these things start to mes up after a few months. My friend did it on a 2018 grand Cherokee and hes getting his factory one installed again
Hey I have a question- my F150 is a 2015 with Sync 2. If I buy this, won’t I STILL have Sync 2? Like does this upgrade you to Sync 3 or is just a tablet
it will work with sync 2 as well. they have models for sync 2
I am not sure. I havent seen one yet, but i know what you mean
