@@charleshughes2683 Thanks mate! I've had other work these past couple of weeks. I'm chilling for the weekend and I'll be back to making more videos next week!
You're amazing man. I wouldn't want to get into the game and try all of this cool stuff without you. Ps. You deserve so many more subs. Everyone that plays the game should be subbed to you.
Wow! I consider him being one of the motivators for doing stuff like this in Space Engineers. Also can't forget Apologies, his stuff is amazing as well! Thank you so much for the kind words man✌🏻
Thanks for the ride HardnEasy! I'm glad you left a few bloopers in the recording, too. Had a hell of a laugh! Oh, by the way: At 49:51 you opened a menu. Whats the key-combo?
Thanks for watching! Yeah, I try to show the whole process, blunders and all. I wish I knew mate 😅 It just pops up from time to time and I've not paid attention to what I pressed.
Great guide, thanks a lot. I built many custom doors in other games, so it's nice to save countless hours right from the start by following your advice and design.
@@MjuMeli I don't suppose you have any interest in showing how to make a pressurized small ship with one of your awesome door designs? I am learning to build myself but I am quite certain your design would be in a completely different league than mine ;)
@@rinner2801 A big small grid ship is quite an undertaking, so I'd have to come up with some other stuff to showcase there as well. But in essence it's just a glorified airtight room :D Make sure you use blocks with full faces where you want them to be airtight to ensure airtightness. Anyways, thanks for the idea. I'll add it to the growing list of stuff I want to do! I do have one small grid airtight ship build on the channel (The Hybrid grid long range explorer). It doesn't have custom doors and I don't really have any footage of the build but it does contain some tips. Maybe you could check it out meanwhile? I've also planned on doing a survival series type thing and an airtight small grid ship will 100% be a part of it.
thanks a lot for your tutorial!! I only have one issue wich is the fact that if you do the door for a ship there is no problem but, when it comes to an actual hangar door and my doors are murgering my door always become part of the main grid and so I always have to convert it to ship so it moves
Thanks mate! Yeah that's an issue with large grid and I'm not sure how to go about fixing it. Maybe a programmable block or the new event block could be used to automate the switch to a mobile grid.
Your skills are absolutely outstanding, I’m currently creating a large project that has a massive large block exterior but smaller block grids inside for a more detailed interior. Would there be any way to create an air tight seal directly between where the large grid and the small grid meets? Or should I just create an air tight chamber surrounding the small grids?
I've been thinking about this very thing. Sadly there is no way to make that small grid/large grid connection airtight. I'd go with the airtight chamber. If you use flat blocks like windows or armor panels that leaves you quite a lot of space to do the detailing. Additionally in my testing I've noticed that the game is only willing to check airtightness for one grid at a time. Meaning if you build a small grid air vent inside a large grid airtight room it won't register it as airtight. Although I must say my testing was quite unorthodox since I tried poking piston parts, and connecting connectors, through walls to add a small grid air vent to a large grid airlock. Hope you get it working!
So I'm interested in a tutorial for GIANT large grid custom airtight doors (I'm thinking probably a 100x100 large grid block size custom airtight hangar door, that doesn't involve mods. Since I would love to create a separate hangar for my bombing ship I'm wanting to work on, with drone support. Your smaller ones though could be good though for some other projects I want to work on.
Hi man, my doors fall off from the pistons after I toggle the merges off, doors completely detaches from the pistons and falls off to ground. While pistons keeps working as they should. Can you please help me what may be wrong with my design?
Wow that's an interesting bug, never had that happen🤔 Make sure you that the safety detach distance and pistons forces are set to default. If you have block damage turned off, turning it back on could at least tell you where you have collision/other issues. Another thing could be that you've accidentally set the pistons to detach in one of your buttons/timers. Hope you find the problem! Let me know if you can't figure it out as I might come up with more things to try in the meantime. Cheers✌🏻
@@MjuMeli okay solved it, my pistons was connected to main grid, so when doors got unmerged from the main grid they got unattached for the pistons too. I solved it by adding a merger on top of piston head and door rig that always stays on.

Incredible detail. This might be the most comprehensive SE custom door video yet!
Thanks! Hope you learned something✌🏻
This guy puts more in each video than most SE creators have ever done. Truly an innovator.
Where has he gone? 😅
