    you can hold X to jump in a rover, you can also use gyro override in its settings to flip it over, also if you are going to crash in a miner its best to land on its drills since they dont take as much damage when colliding with voxels. also I suggest getting a speed mod. makes the game way better.

      @SurvivalBobGaming there's a mod called FSD Supercruise that functions like a replacement for the warp drive. It ramps up your speed drastically (like 10x base) by using massive amounts of power. A cool trade-off, and iirc when stopping it functions like the warp drive so it'll just stop you. I also know it stops before entering gravity fields so that might help avoid certain situations haha

      Believe you will enjoy it a lot, as well as being able to go faster without it being incredibly janky, there are new challenges to overcome that are based around thermal management, gravity, and speed while planet-side.

    Hey Bob, great series, just wanted to let you know that a good way to flip a ship or rover is to build batteries in a stack off one side. Just place the frames, no need to fully build them, and they will have the same weight as if they were the finished product. Because batteries are fairly heavy and you are making a long arm you can almost always lever a ship/rover upright. Best part is the only thing that breaks when you roll over is the battery shells. Hope that helps if you ever flip anything, which because you are a professional Bob, seems likely :)

      @@SurvivalBobGaming If you ever run into this problem again, keep in mind that while in that bubble you and your ship cannot take any damage. So if you were to say use a gyro or a thruster to roll back into the station to try to right yourself, you can do so without shredding your rig.

SE is always an adventure and with almost literally infinate things to see and do it takes a long time before you feel like you've even scratched the surface. I have over 11,000hrs in SE and I'm still in awe of it constantly. @HamadaHamada-qx9bx ปีที่แล้ว

    3 things Bob when in need of saving resources use interior blocks for scaffolding they require a lot less iron. You do not have to finish the landing gear In order for it to lock down. And finally when in a desperate situation for power one good way to fix it is by placing a large grid rotor don’t build it. Grind off the head then go to the control panel and add a small rotor head to it. This will allow you to build small grid batteries o2h2 and hydrogen engines. Much less resource intensive and will help you build the larger variants while you can’t transfer o2or h they will share power between the grid/sub grid .

  • @kerbalairforce8802

    I highly recommend Engineers build at least one cheap vehicle to zip around in to save from relying on your suit.
    A seat, battery, hydrogen tank, and one thruster per side can really help get around. Like having a scooter or golf cart.

      @Cinco555WasTaken ปีที่แล้ว

      Ion thrusters don’t work in atmosphere, it’s not gravity based

    • @stratometal
      @stratometal ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Cinco555WasTaken There is some gravity pulling towards the lunar surface, if you don't have enough trust the craft will fall, same as if you shut down the engines, and if you leave a ship hovering over the lunar surface it will consume more power/fuel than if it was in zero g space.
      Another thing is the more mass the slower a ship accelerates and decelerate, ion is not as powerful for safe maneuvering as hydrogen but if you are careful it will work just fine. Hydro thrusters have tons more thrusts, so you can make do with less and smaller ones, saving some weight and space as well as resources. Ion engines are kind of heavy plus the batteries and generators.
      Its also a matter what you want to power your craft, if you have trouble generating electricity you might want to go hydro, if you unlock nuclear generators and have enough uranium then run ions.
      That said, you are correct that ion thrusters will do nothing in atmosphere.

    I have 3 tips for building combat focused ships.
    The main one is more types of weapons the worse for survival, especially for non capital ship. Your main ship that will be what makes all the ammo can generally have more types. But unless you got scripts going to manage your ammo levels it just makes it harder to know if you need ammo and what ammo. That issue get worse when you need to load your fighters with ammo and have 3-4 different types to grab. Scripts can completely remove those issue mainly Isy's Inventory manager. Even though I have used that script in my ships for 4+ years (I think) now, I still don't rely on it cause setting up script tends to add another 10+ hours to ship building. I say 10+ cause my dyslexia makes all that take twice as long as most people would I imagine.
    The second tip would be don't put all your eggs in 1 basket cause things go BOOM. Basically just don't put all your hydrogen tanks in 1 exposed spot and all your ammo in 1 container.
    The last combat focused tip would be you just need 2 directions of thrust on 2 different axis's. The most common ones are upward and forward thrust but you could do backwards and right thrust if you wanted. You still need all 6 directions of thrust but 2 lets you through use of rolling basically have powerful thrust in all directions to dodge projectiles with. Keeping that in mined with all ship really about what do I need the ship to do and so where should I put thrusters is helpful for all ship mostly miners and combat ones though. Just to try and add more clarity cause I suck as explaining things: You make an atmospheric miner with it's drills facing forward relative to the cockpit. To be able to mine without to much worry about crashing you most likely want backwards and upwards thrust to be your main focus and only a little bit of downwards because you have gravity but you still need some in case you tip to far forward. (Learnt that one the hard way more times than I care to admit.) On mining in atmosphere the easiest miner to use it something that doesn't mine much and is easy to replace. like a drill cockpit and medium cargo container for storage and that's it. Or as call it a jelly miner where you basically only have down thrust and have your drills facing down and just go up and down. Good for ice but only useful when scaled up to be large so the cargo size makes up for how slow it is.
    Also not to do with combat at all but never settle for good enough for your ships cause building good ships takes hundreds if not thousands of hours and you can look at others ships for idea of steal bits off of if you can't think of a good way to do something you want to do. I don't think I made a ship I would call good now until I had over 1000 hours in the game and it's because I started putting in the extra 10% stuff that can double the time to make a ship. Stuff like slightly changing the shade of paint or changing the textures to add detail. My point cause I got off topic was that you want to always push what you try to build with each ship maybe don't constantly change a ship that is going to get destroyed. But In a world where you will be spending a few dozen hours on then it's a good idea to keep working on that capital ship you are using as your base or what ever. Don't have to be big things but things like going back and adding new functions like missiles or more cargo or what ever. Or adding detail where there wasn't before.
    A side note on detail a very useful thing for making good ships and is the thing I suggest to work on first is greebling. If you ever got super super big into Lego as a kid or teen you might know this already but it's basically adding detail/texture through shape usually small details like slightly insetting something. Think off all those little structures on an Imperial Star Destroy, that's greebling. As I understand it at least, I could be wrong in some ways.
    Great video and I hope to see more.

    Amusing seeing you make all the mistakes I made ages ago, like a right of passage or something. I presume you've already been told elsewhere by now, but using override controls on a gyro will help you re-orient a flipped ship. Knowing you can do that will stop you from flailing around and causing ship damage like your ship at the end...

    Can you please do Ares at War! I really wish more people would do a play through of it. It is a really awesome scenario that even has a story. The best way to experience the story is to start at one of the colonies on Agaris (Carcosa or Azuris). And you can start in space or crashed on another planet in the system. One of the best things about Ares at War is that there is unique resources on 5 different planets so it forces you to go to all of the different planets and gather the resources which is really cool and adds depth to every play through.

    You can disable the "cleaning" so it will stop deleting grids without power, or adjust the settings to your liking, its specially useful for single player survival runs because of all the things you went through loosing materials when it deleted your unfinished grids.
    It might seem like cheating but this is a feature added to stop multiplayer games from becoming unimageable cuz of bloating after a while. My buddy and I run the cleanup process semi manually. Basically just let it run on deleting chunks that are flying away and are very far, and then we let it delete bits of unpowered grids when we choose. This way we minimize the chances of loosing vehicles because of oopsies or clang.

    6:49 SOLUTION: pistons, rotors, landing gear. You can build an arm that allows you to rotate your craft. Alt: if yo manual overide the GYRO on your craft, you can force it (in low gravity) to roll over (warning be ready to reset it, otherwise it WILL keep spinning. Destroying its self)

    When your vehicle rolls over you can stack blocks in a straight line and put batteries at the end (no need to build them).
    Turn them over by changing the center of gravity.
    Because the weight of the block is the same whether it is built or not.

    • @M14_Quarter

      When you want to build a small ship you can use the rotor to install the small rotor head.
      The rotor can provide power directly and if you install the advanced rotor head and connect the conveyor you can also directly refuel.
