I've watched over a dozen reviews of this bike, and Chopsey is the only one to give it the full beans and ride it like I would ride it - well done that man, well done! Can't wait for the touring review 👍
Chopsey is the one. I am his sub for years now. I have the base model and a lot of videos. Can check the Tracer 9 playlist + later today I have my Episode 10 of my Trip to Romania Series ready to go. Cheers bro.
Brill8ant vid again Mr Chops. Really looking forward to the tour video on the GT+. I have had a Tracer 9GT and I think it is one of the most underrated bikes out there. Looking forward to the next installment.
Yamaha is one of the top motorcycle brands in what’s concerned to motorcycle’s engine wise. This Cp3 is fun and strong and the styling of this tracer 9 GT + is very well sorted out in that grey color but the detail of the golden or yellow stripe making the transition to the black gas tank it’s classy in terms of design and paint job. I wish they could put the MT-10 engine on this bike 😊 Thanks for the excellent video. And I will be looking forward to the touring part of the test.👌🏻
I completely agree with everything mentioned in this video. I have the base model and I am a happy owner. Drop by to check my Tracer 9 playlist and even my Trip to Romania Series. Thanks a lot.
Always like the way you give the essence of the bike rather than just the specs. I'm an old git and in my experience the bike often has more talent than the rider and people invariably end up promoting themselves in respect of power to their level of incompetence. The jury is out on the new leathers. 🤔
Thanks buddy, yeah if you want specs go look at the Yamaha website right? I try to let you know how it feels to ride. Yeah leathers not very flattering in that view 😄
I got the exactly same colored GT+ in November last year. I added the heated seat to make my winter ride less painful. This bike is well put together and my riding expectations have been spoiled after having owned this bike. GT+ has everything I want for my bike. The CP3 engine is a peach, I believe. It sounds awesome as well. I also own new MT10 and Tenere700. So, I have all three CP versions at the same time currently.
I’ve got the Tracer 9 GT, i love it and although this GT Plus has more tech i don’t think i would upgrade but i do love this bike and they have done a great job with it and listened to their customers
I have the base model and on the GT+ they just added all the modern available tech that one may like. It is a great bike, even the base model. I am a happy owner. This year I completed my ride to Romania. Great video LCR. I enjoyed. Those interested can check my Trip to Romania Series. Today it is time for the Episode 10.
Haven’t ridden the GT plus but was straight to the dealers when the GT came out with the intention of updating mine. I love so many things about the Tracer, the engine is certainly the highlight. The CP3 has lots of character and I love that induction noise. I’ve had my 2016 model for the last 5yrs and have enjoyed it for the most part. Sorting that suspension and remapping it is an absolute must. They definitely sorted a lot of that with the GT. My only real niggle is the screen which Yamaha still haven’t sorted (I’ve tried many different ones). I think the power of the bike is a nice compromise, I can press on and use the power without getting too silly. I hated the split screen but the big LCD looks nice. TCS off at all times unless it’s a bit cold or wet. You can get your knee down 😂. It’s definitely got the fun factor.
Expensive until you compare it with its European competition; plenty of features for the price. Great review and you are styling in those new leathers!
I’ve the older 2017. The reason I got it was it’s fantastic fun, and you can hammer it round the lanes. Pop the panniers and my tall shield on, now I’ve got a lightweight tourer. Be aggressive with it and it will reward you. The newer Gt ones the same, more refined suspension, but the same DNA.
I've got a gen 1 Tracer 900 (FJ09 in the States). I absolutely LOVE it! It did suffer from a horrid seat and weak suspension, but both those were easily rectified. I've got it well dialed and it's equal parts hooligan machine and tourer. I'm debating adding either the new T9GT+ or another FJR for long distance work, but the nod is going heavily towards the Tracer with the tech. Oh, and I can confirm knee down and scrapped pegs, at least on a sorted Gen 1.
The radar range is generally on cars steering wheels so it makes sense for it to be on the handle bar. The brake and clutch levers from the factory are set for people at 5’6”, so of course they’d feel too upright for taller riders. You can’t adjust them for a test ride, just make it the first thing you do when purchasing any bike. Suspension adjustments second (if possible).
I owned a Kawaski GTR 1400 a few years ago and love it very much im gonna have to try it to make up my mind about the power of the Yamaha its seems lighter and sure it have more technologies nice bike great review thx mate.
I’m with you on the Yamaha, they have a lot of exciting models at the moment 👍. I’ve always been Suzuki but their range is as dull as dishwater at the moment and is showing no hope of improvement any time soon which is a shame.
A great review, certainly putting the bike through its paces. I have the T9GT and have done 8.5k miles in 18 months. Plus points - sound, performance, panniers. Negative points- windscreen (I've added a spoiler), poor finish after one winter and fuel gauge. I don't think the GT+ is worth the extra money and I still firmly believe that my Street Triple engine was better.
A great review Chopsie. You get a lot for your money when you compare it to similar spec'd bikes. Sounds great too. More than enough power for most people
Great review Chopsy! Looking resplendant in your new leathers too Chops! The Tracer is a nice looking bike. Yamaha fit and finish is usually damn good too.
Well done mate! I really appreciate your vids and most importantly the comments. Since it was announced I have been eager to try this 9gt. Now you help me a lot, although I am waiting for the second part of the test. And the new leathers are so good 👍! Thanks again. P.S. self turn off indicators?
I loved this bike riding it last year! Felt like it didn't need more power, and the tech just worked. Loving the new leathers too, don't listen to the meanies
Great video as usual 👍good to see 5 years later and the fuel gauge is still the best guess o meter around,I'm old school and use the tripmeter! I think the only thing in common with my old girl is the name😅 Take it easy in Spain you have a Hyper to finish.
Good vid as always Chopsy, i liked this bike when ig to to test ride it last year but ended up buying a GSX-S1000GT+ that just felt better to me. Also love seeing my local roads come up on the channel too! Gotta love the A343
Nice review , I bought one last September and it’s great it was £14,000 600 they must have gone up since then. My Yamaha dealer even did the first service free.
Excellent review, if I was new to adventure bikes this is the one . Lovely 3 cylinder engine. Good you can choose all tech or no tech as such. Only thing horrible in borring grey .Don't know Why you said you negative things about wearing leathers we do on our multistrada even touring to France. Plus much better for wind resistance still use pike peak small screen.
I’m convinced this bike, this model if the reddies are available would be top of my list . I don’t think I’d go for the panniers, preferring a large top box. Heated seat and grips. Bloody nice, well featured bike.
That assisted braking might have saved my last bike when a van stopped dead in front of me. I have a lightly used 21 plate GT on the way. Leathers in 10deg is brave. 🥶
After a lengthy search, I've found the perfect bike for all my needs. Unfortunately, the 'plus' version isn't available in Saudi Arabia. If it becomes available, I'll purchase it without hesitation. Thanks for the insightful review!
Makes a lovely sound, nicely equipped, great price but the front end is just proportionally too small and awkward looking.......kinda the polar opposite of the bmwRT front end. Great vid 👍
You ever thought of being a hand model Mr chops lol 😂 Great vid as always mate truly entertaining and informative 👍 Keep up the great work All the best
This bike at 15k is a bargain compared to the bmw gs multistrada and ktm super adventure. Nobody will tell me them bikes are worth 8-12k more The cp3 is is one ofnthe best engines ever made imo
Great review chops and the leathers are looking cool 🙂 I think I like the colors on the Std GT than the GT+ version better, as the gold wheels and forks look cool together. Again I think all manufactures need to be a bit more bold on available colors, too much black all the time.... a bit boring?
Great vid as ever Chopsy!… It is a really, really good ‘everyday’ bike isn’t it. Practical when you need it to be and great fun when you want it to be… Although I think it would be difficult not to have fun up that road (getting to and up ‘your’ hill climb! 😎) It’s so good, I think any bike is fun through there isn’t it! 👍🏍️😎
Nice review chopsy , the yam looks good in the grey and the triple sounds great .👍 That twat in the car was well over the centre line !!!!thought your side camera was a gonner😮 looks like you enjoyed that .👍 like the new leathers mate .👍
i had the first gen model chopsy and i thought that was a good bike . it looks like Yamaha have made a big leap forward with this and the Engine has always been a gem just like the Triumph Triple .the leathers fit were they touch 😂😂😂😂
Thats going to be an interesting one with the braking assist. I had it the other day in the car where the car in front came to a sudden stop but at same time i was about to change lanes and the car slammed the brakes on as i steered.
Oh, on the navigation, it's not a Garmin unit, it's an app Garmin is working on right now. It's in more or less beta stage, but that's how it will integrate.
When looking at bikes in November it was a toss up between one of these and a Tiger 900 GT Pro. I would have been happy with either but went for the Tiger since I could get a deal and because the Tracer is new there was no deals to be had. I like my Tiger but I'm sure this would have been good too.
Thanks very much buddy!! Honestly they did me the suit for free (I know very lucky boy) so I dont know how much it would cost.. But the off the shelf version which is exactly the same is very reasonable price for an airbag / kangaroo suit.. Ive seen them for about £1000, sounds a lot but the equivalent Dainese is 3k!
Hi, you say 3rd gen quick shifter no need to close throttle when changing gear ....so by saying that are you saying the other manufacturers quick shifters ie triumph you have to close the throttle each time you change gear ???? Great video keep it going
Great looking Bike , and another Great Review as always.....as mentioned nice new leathers , but bit tight in the old Tummy area, maybe time to cut out the fish n chips and cornish pasties , for a while. Really enjoy your as it is reviews keep up the Graet content....✌️✌️😎😎☀️🏍🏍🏍🏍🏍🏍👍👍👍
Love my MT09SP 21 plate this was an option for me for my next bike as i want to do more touring (not saying the MT09 cant do it does it suprisingly well) but looking little off road too so think its the Tiger i am leaning towards rather than the Tracer same as the CP3 engine is sooooo nice
It is fascinating that Yamaha has largely abandoned the litre-plus class. Both the MT10 and R1 sit right at the sports end of the market. No Super Ten replacement, FJR etc. It’s also interesting that they have cheap, touring and full fat versions of the Tracer 9, so you can’t really say the GT+ is too expensive when you can get the base bike for about £10K - which might actually be the smart buy. As always though I expect Yamaha sells far fewer basic bikes than GT/GT+ because buyers want the tech. Looks like a lot of fun!
My chops. Given that you've ridden both the XR and now this. Tech aside. What are you taking? I found the XR to be bloody brilliant. But yet to ride the Tracer.
Yeah good question... honestly it was 2 plus years ago I rode the XR.. I would have to try one again to be sure but quite simalar feeling bikes. Think Tracer feels a bit more raw than the XR..
Thanks for a great review, just what I needed to see it being given some beans. I am on an XR just now and I am away next week for a test run on this. Only thing that does concern me most is the corrosion stories. I probably won't be riding through winter, so maybe not an issue.@@LambChopRides
Hi can i ask you some advice. I am considering a new Tiger 660 which i know you have tested. I am not sure if to buy the tiger or just go and buy a Tracer 9 GT ( not GT+). Can i ask if there is a big difference between them and what you think 👍
Wish it was better looking prefer an actual standard style sports tourer not a tall rounder. Even so I’ll be tempted when they put this screen on the GT
Much better dash than the early one that was horrible, not a fan of the overall look, panniers are a peculiar shape, I like that it’s got decent bhp, it’s pity the Tiger 900 was up there on the bhp that’s still a bit down on bhp, I like all the design tech features, but not the price tag of this Yamaha ,
Love the new leathers, shame the Airbag has gone off! Send them back😂
Haha git! 😄👍
😀😂@@LambChopRides
cruel but hilarious. I will not even try and get into a leather suit for the same reason
😂👍
Poured in, love it! 😍🤣

I agree Mr C , when other reviewers start the massive list of dimensions in millimetres of everything . . . yawn, switch off
I hated that split display. This one is much better.

I've been going back and forth between the mt10sp and the tracer 9gt+, Yamaha really needs a tracer 10 gt+!
I also got mine in November waiting for the sunshine how do you find it on long distance?
I’ve got the Tracer 9 GT, i love it and although this GT Plus has more tech i don’t think i would upgrade but i do love this bike and they have done a great job with it and listened to their customers

This tech on a new SuperTenere would get my money. I'd buy it today.
That's not a bad package actually, looks lke it would be great for touring and plenty of tech too

Is this the best sports tourer/adventure bike in your opinion? Compared to the BMW 1000XR, KTM Superduke GT etc

Raw, as in a plus, or a minus!? @@LambChopRides
Thanks for a great review, just what I needed to see it being given some beans. I am on an XR just now and I am away next week for a test run on this. Only thing that does concern me most is the corrosion stories. I probably won't be riding through winter, so maybe not an issue.@@LambChopRides
Shocking pothole at 08:03 no? Thanks Chopsie.
Whatch all your videos great im72 have a bmw s 1000 r 2022 love it but ready for a sit up think ill like the tracer chopsy

Love the tracer range
Great stuff. Have a good one in Spain. :)
Thanks buddy!!
Yamaha needs to make this bike at least 1000 cc
Why?
Much better dash than the early one that was horrible, not a fan of the overall look, panniers are a peculiar shape, I like that it’s got decent bhp, it’s pity the Tiger 900 was up there on the bhp that’s still a bit down on bhp,
I like all the design tech features, but not the price tag of this Yamaha ,
I have heard about long term quality issues with this ie corrosion shock etc
Seems a little too much tech. Just more things to go wrong and increase service costs
