- David Mann (Dennis Weaver) has a close encounter with the crazy killer truck driver when driving in the Mojave Desert for a business trip.
From Duel (1971): David, a businessman, passes by an old tanker truck in a dessert while travelling for a meeting. The driver of the truck is a psychopath who finds David's overtaking offensive and decides to kill him.

Back when Duel was first released, who would've ever guessed that the man who directed this straightforward thriller was destined to go on to become the greatest filmmaker of all-time and direct some of the greatest, most iconic, acclaimed, most beloved & timeless movies ever made.
It's insane that this movie was Steven Spielberg's directorial debut!
I always thought he did Sugarland Express before he did Duel; but you’re right - this was his first directorial outing. Although Sugerland was his first motion picture - as Duel was a television film
I didn't know that!
@@terrortower666 I didn't know that either. Not bad for made for TV.
What's crazy is that he made it in 10-12 days
This could easily be in my top ten favourite films. It’s one of the most re-watchable suspense films ever
Duel debuted in 1971 as an ABC Movie of the Week. It was so popular, that Spielberg added 16 minutes to the original 74 minute TV film to qualify as a movie for theaters. It received distribution overseas and was a hit in France and Italy. Shot in 13 days, Spielberg's first effort showed the promise of a talented director.
I love this movie and the truck.
I saw it as a child in the late 70s : The reason why I became a truck driver.
Cary Loftin, the real truck driver in the film, was a consummate professional.
RIP Cary 🏴☠️
My mom and I always loved this movie.
But not your dad? That's a pity
Great movie! Dennis Weaver was excellent!
He really excels the fear, dread and hopelessness in this kind of situation. Incredible performance!
@@terrortower666 Yes! Well said! Great performance!
@@MikeysMorgue👍👍👍
Dennis Weaver sure was sweating bullets while being chased by that truck.
@@jimmydeanpatterson1422 He sure was! 😆😅🤣😂
An absolute classic!!
Of course it is, Steven Spielberg made it.
One of my favorite movies as a young one.
"It's just a little whiplash!"
They wanted to use back projection on this film, which would have looked crap. Fortunately Spielberg said no, and got his way.
Great movie 😊
Fantastic movie
I like this movie!
This movie is cool even now. I watched it first time only few years ago, and I liked it. Modern movies with their huge budgets and computer special effects aren't as impressive as Duel. The old rusty truck scaries only with its appearance, no matter who its driver is and why he kills passenger cars on roads.
Back then when a rusty truck had a hellcat hemi motor😅
In the scene where after he left the diner and the truck was waiting for him, he should have turned around and gone the other way. Even if he lost his job. I bet this has happened many times on the road. There are crazy people out there.
Dennis Weaver was perfect in this movie.
David Mann definitely needed new undergarments after this scene.
This movie is legendary
I asked a lady trucker how she liked her Peterbilt and she replied about like this💪😂😂😂
Speed limiters in the UK, with all trucks limited to 60 mph, means this sort of chase could never happen on most roads, but you still get a few nasty truckers on lesser roads that will try The Duel thing, 9 years ago, I had some guy on the A5092, one of the worst roads in England with bad bends and narrow lanes, sit right up my back for 8 miles with the lights and horn going as I was too slow to pull away from a junction. Scary as you had a huge Scania lorry up your back that could have caused an accident, but at least he turned off to complete a delivery.
The best movie I gave never seen in full.
I really like this scene because whoever sees the film is in distress, I myself am cool and it was Steven Spielberg's first film, even 52 years later I still like this film
Great movie and you had no cell phones back then.😮 I was a kid back then and it was scary to watch.
Cult movie.
I love it!
& the truck is in Hollywood museum today. !! 👇
Back when we had real truck drivers..
That’s how you know Spielberg was a legend in the making if this was one of his first films 😮💨
That is reminds me The Car (1977) that there's a black killer car
The only difference the driver is targeting only drivers with red cars
Ohhhhhhhh noooooooo 😢
Blu-rayあるけれど、何度見ても恐い。ケータイも、カーナビもなかった時代の恐怖ですね。しかし、タンクローリー積み荷は無いのでしょうか? Go for it.
So this is where jeepers creepers stole the truck idea from
That whole first scene in that movie was based off of a real event, not even joking
1:08 😂😂
I don't know if it's really 52 years later but if it's not, someone correct me.
Unglaubliche story. ...
Imagine real life it might as phantom truck, but sadly it always got stuck and tipped alot.
Motor demons like Christine and car facepalms.
E por isso que as pessoas tem raiva do caminhoneiro kkkkk
hes literally me
Trucks it is twin stick?
Mr Bryan Boy Band
Illogical Hollywood physics
4 minutes and 20 seconds wasted just to see a car crash into a fence...
It's the suspense not just the destination. Not bad for a 70s TV movie. Changed the game.
