Rodney Dunnigan - thx for watching! Yes, Jon knows the track well & is a very good driver (the only person I would trust to drive my big girl on the 'Ring, lol). He has spent several years over here & has driven several cars from our car club on the Green Hell to show us what they can do, notably: Ford Focus RS, Corvette (Stingray & Z06), Mustang's and various other makes & models. The Z06 & the Hellcat were probably his most enjoyable rides so far. Mainly due to how focused the Vette was & how BRUTAL the Hellcat was, lol. And yes, the Charger Hellcat is completely stock other than Carbon Fiber rear spoiler & diffuser, 295 rear tires & Powerstop Z26 front brake pads.
Bavarian MOPAR What was the lap time for this? My lifecoach did hundreds of laps there in the 80’s and 90’s was a pro. Says 10m is fast as hell for a new driver on the Ring
Rodney Dunnigan I second that. Great driving. Even better from a bit before he says something like: "she's really talking to me now". Also... Nurburgring is a track that wants to kill you, the charger hellcat is a car that wants to kill you, so there's that.
Great video. Very satisfying to see what an experienced driver can do with a full sized Mopar. The numbers he puts up are encouraging. This Hellcat Charger did not embarrass itself at the 'Ring. Has to be little strange for the spectators watching this beautiful beast rocketing around the track. There certainly isn't anything else that looks like a Hellcat Charger. Can't wait to enjoy more of these videos.
She's not meant for the track, but she acquits herself well, especially with an experienced driver. There's always someone with a faster car & there is always someone who is a better driver. The ones who crash are usually the ones who either drive with too much ego (hate being passed) or over drive their car (can't buy knowledge or experience). Not so much a race - this was a "open track day" (Touristenfarhten) at the Nurburgring Nordschleife. It's a 13 mile long public "toll road" where you can drive any street legal vehicle as fast as you want (with few limits/rules). Petrol Heads go there with their cars & either turn a lap for fun or try to set their own personal best alp times. Thx for watching!
All the more impressive is that Charger was probably close to 5,000 lbs with driver plus two adult male passengers (one in the back seat you only hear his voice).
Michel Linschoten hellcat weight - 4,448 lbs. look at the forearms on the driver, and the size of the front seat passenger. Even if the back seat guy was anorexic, that’s still 5,000 lbs.
That was the roughest ride I've seen for any Nurburgring in-car video. Passengers bounced at like it was an off road race. A yes, i was impressed with the car's ability to hold corners.
got to remember, the camera is mounted on a custom made aluminum head rest mount. Gives the perfect viewing angle inside the car, but with my big ass sitting in the passenger seat (which its mounted to) it over emphasizes the bumps.... thx for watching!
To be far, MOST high speed runs on this track are in cars ran by the manufacturers...with 5 point harnesses. Also this is a Grand Touring car...not a track model...like a 750i BMW or RS7 which would be....similar weighs and size.
The Porsche used 30% difficulty in those corners. They're built for that. SRT steers like a boat. It's a different conversation on the straight away. 🤝
Bravo brother, that was an awesome show of driving ability. way to keep that big car planted. I think you gave her just enough sweetalk to make babygirl happy. she performed admirably, and so did you.
Good effort. You can tell this car has a LOT of power and it's a REAL struggle to stay within the available grip of the tires; it looks SO easy to overdrive, but the driver's doing a really respectable job of keeping it in a fast groove. I only got to do the Nurburgring once, in a 120 HP Suzuki Ignis on R-compounds...it was like the opposite of this. All grip and no power! _PS Bravo to FCA for really giving this car the cooling and brakes to handle track work, it's impressive._
OEM pads bite a little harder than the Z26 Power Stop's I have on the front now, but the fade is a little better. Car definitely will benefit from steel braided brake lines & DOT4 or better fluid. On my grocery list for next season, lol! thx for watching!
All I see is an undoubtedly modified newer MY dodge thing failing to catch a Porsche with an equally skilled driver. I doubt those amgs and other Porsches that he "destroyed" were nearly as maxed out as that charger was.
I wonder how much mercedes-benz engineering went into that car. I will say it is the slowest feeling video I have seen. So many others you see the undulations on the road in other videos, this one not so much. The guy knows the track. The really amazing part is he passed a car that was able to pass him like he was parked. I don't know how he was able to do it. Maybe it was his lucky day, I don't know but well done.
very few American built cars will give their European counterparts a run for their money (Corvette, Camaro, Viper, Focus RS are about it) on this track, but the Hellcat is still an utter BLAST to try it in, lol! thx for watching!

Driver Jon is an experienced semi-pro driver & race instructor who has a ton of experience out here. He shows a bunch of us in our car club how to be better drivers & how to prepare for the Ring. THIS lap was only Driver Jon's second time behind the wheel of the Hellcat...& had his teenage son in the front seat (& me in the back). So he was still not really pushing the car, still trying to figure out what chassis setup he liked. His 3rd lap (Mustang GT lap) was much more aggressive & faster - too bad my tires were pretty much shot by then, lol! He actually turned a faster lap time in a 500hp Subaru w/4 passengers in the car, lol! if you want to see more of him, check the other 2 laps on my channel OR check out my buddy Dan Brown's channel "Track Focused" & watch him lap the field in Dan's Focus RS. Thanx for watching!
neither of the Hellcats (Charger or Challenger) are really meant to be a "track car" from the factory but they are surprisingly better than most people would think. thx for watching!
I don't remember but if I recall that the Viper ACR had something like over 1000lbs of downforce, which was the reason that it was one of the best handling car on the track.
they need to see JON drive, lol...but thanks! He's awesome (both as a driver & a friend). Hope we can tweak the car out next summer for a more "track" focus & see what he can do with it. Thanks for watching!
He's an awesome driver..but that doesn't make hellcat a track friendly car..this level driving, he would be probably run much faster in a 1LE Camaro and wouldn't toast the brakes either.
he's been IN, but not driven, a ZL1 Camaro on the Ring. With him driving it, we think it would do about the same lap times or slightly faster...best lap time for the ZL1 was a 7:29. The Charger HC would probably top out at a sub 8 min lap, so the Camaro would be around 20-25 sec faster.....but that is a track specific car.....thx for watching!
What was your time?? Your driving skills are exceptional brother!! Wow!! I have a modded scatty, and go to the strip with modded hellcats who run mid to high 9s, but I didn’t know a Hellcat was capable of that on a road coarse...
none of his laps were "clean" (traffic, cautions, etc). & this was only his 2nd time driving the car, so still learning how much he could push it. This lap, BTG (Bridge to Gantry) was a 8:59. Not too bad. His 3rd lap he pulled a 8:52, but the track was very slick that day. A bone stock Hellcat w/a good driver on a clean lap should be able to run around a 8:45 lap; with someone like Jon behind the wheel you can drop that to around 8-8:15. Upgrade the brakes (pads/fluid/brake lines) & slap on track focused tires & it should pull a sub 8 min lap. Still slower than most track oriented cars, but considering its not really meant for the road course, not too shabby. thx for watching!
@@jasonhaddad3272 tough to say. Either Hellcat (Challenger or Charger) would be hard pressed to run a sub 8 min full lap in stock condition. MOPAR myth says a stock Challenger HC ran a 7:51 full lap but it has never been confirmed & I would call BS on that time unless someone ever shows me facts. With a experienced, pro driver, a stock HC should run right at a 8 min flat lap....MAYBE 7:50 is possible if everything is perfect condition wise. We ran a 8:59 on this lap - had it been a clean lap w/only the driver in the car (instead of 2 adult passengers), that time would have been around 8:25-30. Better brake lines, rotors, pads & fluid + track tires+ 3.09 rear diff+ front & rear strut braces & it would probably do around 7:30. thx for watching!
Maybe switch out all of the fluids to help avoid heat soak, Amsoil has great products for that, engine, brake, tranny and diff. Great driving as that is a heavy car to get around that track.
Who said the Hellcat is "good" around the Ring? My videos are only trying to show that it is better than people would give it credit for & that they are FUN AS HELL to drive! There is a Mopar Urban Legend that a stock 2015 Challenger HC ran a 7:51 lap, but this is myth (no one has ever stated WHO the driver was, WHEN it was run or WHO sponsored it, so until that ever comes out, it didn't happen). This car, as it sits (stock) with an experienced driver and a LOT of perfect conditions to happen, COULD run around a 8min lap..... that would put it just outside the Top 100 times (Audi RS4 @ 7:56 is #100 I believe). There is a reason why Dodge has only the Viper on that list - none of their other cars, stock, are "track" cars. Thx for watching!
Pirelli's, but they were about done before we started this lap. Plus, the track had been closed 2 days prior & only a short 3-4 Touristenfahrten window, so the track was fairly "clean", ie - no rubber down. With good tires, she'll hold around 1.3-1.5 lateral G's, which ain't too bad for something as heavy as a Dodge, lol. Thanx for watching!
Maybe I missed it but...where was the Mercedes AMG GT and Porsche? Did they all start at the same exact time or is this a brag video because he PASSED two cars on the 'Ring?
"brag video"..... seriously? who's "bragging" about anything?... passed the AMG while doing 120mph but never "bragged" about "racing" it.... side note - why don't you bring that lil white Bowtie back to Eisnach? Would be a fun race, lol! thx for watching!
Bavarian MOPAR Works - The video title says "takes on Mercedes AMG GT and Porsches" but I didn't see that. He simply passed a few cars, and that alone does not solidify he "took on" anything. The other drivers may have been taking a leisure drive on the 'Ring, or maybe a spirited run. But unless they started at the same time and both went balls out, I don't see the video beyond just that. In addition, I will say the driver seems skilled in the 'Ring. But if you know who he is, perhaps you can encourage him to set up a time/lap transponder to record it. When I was in Germany, I too was on the 'Ring with my Bowtie. Passed numerous cars. And some cars passed me too. For me, it was the fun spirit of being on the 'Ring. Far from "taking on" whatever cars I happen to pass. And believe me, I wish I could come back to Germany. i love it there. Great country. Eisenach (Race Wars) was a blast!! So was HockenheimRing. Since then, I sold the Bowtie and took a step back in modifications. Now I just get my adrenaline fix on a 2017 Kawasaki ZX-10RR. : ) Have fun out there. I wish I could come back and enjoy it with you.
The guy driving is quite impressive!! However!.... the context of the cars are key! To say he is “taking out” a GT R and Porsche is a bit overzealous. I mean clearly you can see the dodge driver pushing the car full tilt. The guy in the GT R looks like he is just out for a spirited joyride on a Sunday. I’d actually love to see the dodge driver in a GT R or Porsche driving like he is now. That would be one quick lap!
Nicholas Atchue: I agree with you. Even with that guys driving chops that black Porsche pulled away hard and maintained that lead until the end. Not a lot of people commenting on the Porsche that smoked that Charger. Don’t get me wrong, the charger driver was hauling ass and on full tilt. However, can’t discredit the Porsche that he couldn’t catch up to even though they hit 200mph in that thing a couple times. Nice video.
That GTR wasnt even trying...... At all! And that Porsche destroyed that thing. The deal with this car is that it can hang for a while, but it's just not going to last in endurance. That GTR and Porshe will run circles around that thing when the tires are pure grease and the brakes are non-existent.
Nicholas Atchue A Hellcat in my estimation can likely do a 7:30 and gtr with a pro driver has done 7:08 to put it into perspective... Hellcats are not built for cornering... They are built for drag racing, but that was awesome driving!!
Speaking of context, a 4 door family sedan made for 1/4 miles can still hold its own against cars that are at least double the price and engineered for tracks. Boring argument.

The reason he can corner so well is cause his massive titanium balls lower the center of mass
Nah it’s the gloves
This dude driving the car is no joke whatsoever total command of thousands of pounds of supercharged American steel!!
"Turning gasoline into smiles, baby", gotta love it!!!!!
Most of the European drivers simply roll their eyes & shake their heads when the come across a "American" car on the Ring, until they finally see one being driven hard by someone who knows what they're doing. thx for watching!

"We're not gonna catch him, he's good". VERY refreshing!! Knowing your skill level and limits will make you a much better driver in the long run. You drive with no ego.....nice!!
There's always someone with a faster car & there is always someone who is a better driver. The ones who crash are usually the ones who either drive with too much ego (hate being passed) or over drive their car (can't buy knowledge or experience). Always best to know your surroundings & let faster cars go by where you want the to pass you - decreases the possibility of them passing you later in a bad spot. thx for watching!
Amazing driving skills. This driver had control over this beast as if it is nothing !!!! well done..

That looks like a lot of fun! You nailed that one power slide. Muscle cars screaming on a street track gives me goosebumps.
Awesome video !!!! Where was this race at ???
Not so much a race - this was a "open track day" (Touristenfarhten) at the Nurburgring Nordschleife. It's a 13 mile long public "toll road" where you can drive any street legal vehicle as fast as you want (with few limits/rules). Petrol Heads go there with their cars & either turn a lap for fun or try to set their own personal best alp times. Thx for watching!
All the more impressive is that Charger was probably close to 5,000 lbs with driver plus two adult male passengers (one in the back seat you only hear his voice).
Stephen Durr you’re fucking stupid 5000 pounds lol

WHEN YOU SEE ALL THE TIRE MARKS AT TURN 3:37 YOU KNOW IT GOT TOOO REAL

Good effort. You can tell this car has a LOT of power and it's a REAL struggle to stay within the available grip of the tires; it looks SO easy to overdrive, but the driver's doing a really respectable job of keeping it in a fast groove. I only got to do the Nurburgring once, in a 120 HP Suzuki Ignis on R-compounds...it was like the opposite of this. All grip and no power! _PS Bravo to FCA for really giving this car the cooling and brakes to handle track work, it's impressive._
the brakes are a "miracle" for such a heavy car
OEM pads bite a little harder than the Z26 Power Stop's I have on the front now, but the fade is a little better. Car definitely will benefit from steel braided brake lines & DOT4 or better fluid. On my grocery list for next season, lol! thx for watching!
Imagine if he was driving that AMG
All I see is an undoubtedly modified newer MY dodge thing failing to catch a Porsche with an equally skilled driver. I doubt those amgs and other Porsches that he "destroyed" were nearly as maxed out as that charger was.
I wonder how much mercedes-benz engineering went into that car. I will say it is the slowest feeling video I have seen. So many others you see the undulations on the road in other videos, this one not so much.

He's an awesome driver..but that doesn't make hellcat a track friendly car..this level driving, he would be probably run much faster in a 1LE Camaro and wouldn't toast the brakes either.
The charger is more aerodynamic
he's been IN, but not driven, a ZL1 Camaro on the Ring.

With a good driver
7:35 without the traffic?
@bavarianmoparworks8668 I know this is an old old comment but how do you think a demon would fare on the nurburgring?
Great driver !! I’d be scared out of my mind if I lost control going that fast !! Hats off dude !!!
Maybe switch out all of the fluids to help avoid heat soak, Amsoil has great products for that, engine, brake, tranny and diff. Great driving as that is a heavy car to get around that track.
I enjoy the lines this guy takes around turns. Hard acceleration through turns with no slip. Helluva driver.
Hell yeah!!! That was awesome!!!!!
If the hellcat is so good around the ring then what’s it’s nurburgring time compared to the other cars

Respect for doing this with bbq gloves on.
Exactly. I don't think it counts as a race unless everyone knows you're racing.
