- In this video, I bring to you the evolution of Raiden's most popular move, the Electric Fly, also known as Torpedo, since its first appearance in MK1 (1992) until MK11. I look at the elements of gameplay and storyline to bring to you the development of this influential character in the last few years.

In the older games, Raiden wouldn't physically stand up when knocked down; he'd teleport into a standing position. I wish he still did that.
Well, that's because the hat caused problems in the footage. Carlos Pesina (who portrayed him) when tried to stand up the hat just ended up wrong or fallen down. Then they had to make a teleport animation to make Raiden to stand up, otherwise they had to stick with a helmet that hat or something.

@@ElPayasoMalo that would needed an special animation, and you know how old games struggled a lot with space. Use more space in your game it meant a lot of extra money. Not so the case nowadays where the external downloads and streaming changed everything.
@@TheSuperPlayer707 No, I mean in the game, when dropped by a low sweep, Raiden actually gets up like everyone else. Every other time, he teleports to a standing position.
@@ElPayasoMalo if you're talking about the first game that's not the case. But in MKII onwards he was capable to properly capture Raiden jumping back up to a standing position since they gave to Pesina a better hat which was completely tied to the hood of his costume. Then the game just turned CGI and the rest it's story.

Headcanon: Raiden was never paid for his voice acting gig, right up until MK11, and that's why he stopped asking for money only then.
Raiden's super in Injustice 2 is probably the best super move he's ever had in any Nrs game.

Raiden's "Electric Fly" (or the "Flying Superman" as it's once called), was not only a Staple Moveset as part of his Character, but was also the most Spamming Moves for Cheating and Unfairness.

Very first character I ever used when I first played the arcade game in 1992 and one of my top 5 favorites to this day.

MK2 Raiden Fly is the best ever. The fact that it has about four different variations of the actual scream compared to the others I don't see why they were never added. I think MK9 might have came close and then vs DC.

Raiden’s “abayayaya!” scream originated when they were making the poses for the original MK game. Apparently to do the “electric fly” the actor for Raiden had to perch on a ladder and when he did, he accidentally put himself in a position that crushed his nutsack and testicles and he screamed as he did in MK1
Edit: they misspelled Raiden in Mk3
Actually, the "mis-spellling" was completely deliberate and done to avoid copyright.

Fun fact about Raiden's "gibberish" that many people may not know...when Carlos Pesina layed down on the platform to record the visuals for Raiden's torpedo move for the first time, he accidentally layed on his testicles and let out a cry of pain and it gave them the idea to have Raiden say gibberish with the move. True story.
