@@Sarnatuile no its rather that he saves batman even after not being saved by him. It's more like "how could you let him do this to me". But also breaking kind of a rule that is made to not kill that also makes him think he's lost everything, sanity and being Robin.
Or maybe he's just breaking down after: - Being tortured and brainwashed for weeks - Coming close to killing his own mentor/father-figure - Killing his captor in a somewhat brutal fashion - Having gone through all of this at the age of like, 12
Das_Bass his goal is to break batman, he will do whatever it takes to cause that, he wants batman to break his one rule because he knows theres no coming back from it and so does batman. Only reason Batman doesn't want to kill joker because before the joker was the joker his name was John and he was best friends with Batman, as ironic as it seems
I love how most of his deaths, the Joker is just laughing as he dies. He's a true maniac to the end, and is perfectly fine with dying if he gets his way and dies on his own terms.
I love in Batman Beyond how ironic his own death is, but he calls in not funny. Like there's a catharsis in Batman Arkham City when he realized he caused his own death and how funny the irony is, but in Batman Beyond he doesn't even have time to see the humor in it before he dies.
The Batman Beyond ending was so striking. The lead up with what he did to Robin is literally the level of insanity and sadisticness that I think of whenever I think of the Joker.
Funny how a normal demented guy with no powers is the one who managed to break the strongest hero in the multi verse and cause the entire Injustice series. Plus everything he does in all other shows and comics. Just having fear from all other villains is great.
Minecrafter 522 that one always bugged me, if the flag of the gun was pointed forward from the gun why did it pop out of the front of his chest, thereby showing that it would have been on the opposite side of the pole?

That final joker laugh in Mask of the Phantasm still haunts me to this day... Hamil somehow gave the most spine tingling laugh I've ever heard. He knows it's his end along with Andrea and probably Batman, and all he can do is laugh while everything burns to the ground. That laugh is THE greatest Joker laugh of all time.
Emo Edgelord Kylo Ren if by mark you mean mARK HAMil (I don't know how to spell his last name sorry😢) then yes he is was and always will be the greatest joker out there.
CripTik Storm You now, I really don't think joker died in Mask of the Phantasm. joker in the animated series was thrown into a furnace thingy and still survived and not to mention that he was thrown into the sea with an abundance of sharks and STILL survived.
Hamil was the best actor to ever play the Joker, and he had what I felt was the best-written Joker too. That Joker was definitely a killer, but but killing was always secondary to his jokes. He would absolutely kill *if* it fit the joke, but he wasn't just another psycho killer the way some of the modern reboots are.
MAnSoN Fan Bye Actually, neither the Joker or Andrea were killed in Mask of the Phantasm. Mask of the Phantasm happens in the same universe as Return of the Joker, so he obviously had to survive the explosion. Then, in an episode of Justice League Unlimited, which is also in the same universe, there's an episode where Terry McGinnis goes to Amanda Waller for answers and Andrea appears in a flashback.
Due to legal insanity. The court actually bealives Joker is not responsible for his actions, but here is the twist Joker isnt really insane he is the opposite of that. Look up imaginary axis The Jokers big secret.
@@tommyelliot152 that's bs considering how many times joker broke out and killed people. Yeah you can get away with murder one or two with insanity case. But if a person keeps doing that... and keeps killing people the system will be forced to give him a death penalty. You think people won't start a riot after he killed 100 - 200 people breaking out 10 - 20 times? To be honest, joker killed a lot more than that. People will demand a death penalty, they will demand resignations of all the people who were responsible for letting him out again and again and the government will be forced to fullfil those demands. That's how the real world works. You don't get away with murdering 500 - 600 people everytime you breakout. Everyone responsible for letting you out, along with you will be given a death penalty. And even if that doesn't happen, someone will take the responsibility and kill the joker himself. Say a policeman after the joker has been caught will put a gun on his head and pull the trigger. The truth is, this is just a comic book villain. So he can get away doing almost anything. These stories are for children and for entertainment. I am not buying that insanity case. Real world doesn't work like that. And don't forget that joker also nuked a city killing 5 million people. If that doesn't force people to make an exception for this psycho, I don't know what will!
@@obi-wankenobi5411 General i never said comic books are real life. Gotham is not set in real life its own fictional city with its own rules or without rules. Yeah in real life super villains woul have gotten the death penalty, but to say comics are for kids than i can say the same for beacuse Star Wars a basic concept space wizards fighting other evil space wizards with millions of the same identical troops in a never ending battle. I have no grudge against Star Wars by any means i think Clone Wars is the best cartoon, but back in to matter of hands Joker may have killed 100 of people and jokingly mocked his victims, there is a point behind every kills to prove everyone can become like him. It takes one bad day to reduce the sanest man alive. Behind every villain there is dark story ready to be discovered.
@@obi-wankenobi5411 i am pretty sure Joker would have died by the goverment injustice universe so he needed to push superman into creating another villain so he can die happily proving everyone his ideology is right.
@@tommyelliot152 did you assume I think Star Wars is "not for children" just because my name is set to Obi? xD Ok, I don't want to disappoint you or anything... but I do think this show too is meant for children. I mean come on... Space ninjas? Force and stuff? Of ourse these are mainly for children and teens. But that doesn't mean I can't like it. I like the classic trilogy and the prequel a lot. Not a fan of the movies disney producing though. Anyway, my point still stands. Comic books and shows are targeted towards young audiences. I am not saying these stories aren't great, or cannot be turned in to stories that adults can't enjoy. I am just saying these are mainly created for childrens. The whole MCU franchise is family friendly children show. Movies like The Dark Knight trilogy or Watchmen are exception to this. But exception is not an example. Imo, there's no need to take comic book villains seriously. Hence the answer to OPs question would be, it's a comic book world made for children and that's why they don't work like real worlds, hence joker was never given a death penalty.
Ik this is late but, he fell over (I think at least) because of shock. He being shot by his “son” and the actual projectile probably hitting a place where it would hurt a lot, he falls unconscious and impales himself even more. Even then the projectile looked pretty deep in his chest so it may have already hit his heart.
AffirmingToe actually, that line is from Batman, The killing joke. Where he disables bat girl ( turning her into orical) and taking pictures of her, then kidnapping her father and forcing him to watch stuff. (Batman saves the day though, and I think joker makes batman laugh)
My favorite Joker death is in Harley's arcade mode ending in Injustice Gods Among Us. If it's not gonna be Bruce, it really should be Harleen who does him in.
Aha! Er, excuse me, this just reminds of a joke. So, there were two guys in a lunatic asylum, but one night they decided that they didn't like that anymore, so they escaped up to the roof. Once they were up there, they could see plenty of rooftops, stretching to freedom. The first guy makes the jump no problem, but his friend is afraid of falling. The first guy has an idea: "Hey, I've got this flashlight! I'll just turn it on and you can walk across the beam!" His friend isn't buying it and says "What do you think I am, crazy? You'll just turn it off when I'm halfway across!"
I legitimately consider Mark Hamils voice, to be the true voice of the Joker, just clown enough to be silly, and just dark enough to be spooky, not to mention the laugh. When you think of the Joker, one of the first things that comes to mind is the incessant laughter, and I’m sure most of you, think of Mark Hamils laugh.
@@Heavenly_Senshi he killed 12 people and injured many others at the premiere of "the Dark Knight Rises", his kill list included the cast members of the movie, and modeled himself after the Joker

Joker: *kills an entire room of people on live TV for his own amusement* Joker when stabbed: "Are you out of your mind?" I like that it isn't even him joking either, he's legit like WTF dude.
In the Return of the dark Knight, Joker isn’t killed by suicide, but rather Batman was the one who killed him. During the fight, Batman snapped his necks which threw him to the wall. After that was his dialogue, which is thought to be his hallucination. Him saying “you’ll pay for that” is him talking to himself, as he had broken his own moral code. This is known, because later on what confirms Batman’s sanity, or rather lack thereof, was when he asked the dead joker to stop laughing. Furthermore, in the comics it was based off of, Batman’s thoughts in dialogue were in a gray speech bubble, while jokers was in white. After the neck snap, the rest of what joker said to Batman before he “finished” himself is portrayed in gray, indicating it was Batman’s thoughts.
7:48 the animators can make the characters and backgrounds so realistic but they can’t make the antidote look like a liquid moving side to side? It looks like there is a hole in the middle and just a bendy blue mold around it.
Fluids are really, really hard to optimise. Plus, the only cards that can simulate it well in real time are Nvidia, since they won't allow others to use the technology. So if you want to hate on bad liquids in games, blame Nvidia for holding it back.
@@aust2354 Dynamic liquid made for realtime is hard to create in games but they could have preanimated the liquid out as high poly animated geometry with a screen space refraction element for the ingame cinematic. They could have simulated it using a high poly vial and later swapped it for the low-poly game model. I don't see any reason why UE even from 2010 couldn't do it in the way I describe. Bottomline, the liquid doesn't need to be dynamic.

Canonically, both Andrea and Joker were shown to have survived the events of Phantasm, as his final death(s) were shown to occur in the Batman Beyond Return of the Joker movie which was also part of the DCAU, AND, in the JLU episode "Epilogue", we see an elderly Andrea Beaumont.
I used the think it’d just be better if Batman killed Joker. It just seemed like the right thing. To hell with your morals, people need to be saved. But in the end, it’s not Batman’s responsibility to kill him. He’s doing the right thing in bringing the criminals in to face trial. It’s the Justice system that fails. It lets murderers and monsters simply go to prison or an Asylum, repeatedly, despite mountains of evidence against them. No one would blame them for using the death penalty. Hell. I’m surprised a disgruntled police officer hasn’t simply, ya know, shot one of them and claimed self defense. It still wouldn’t be “right” but how many people are gonna put real effort into investigating that without being a criminal sympathizer themselves?
I can agree with what your first thought about Batman, after all Joker is a psychopath who wants to make the world into a circus of death, chaos, and insanity and, therefore, must die. I've also heard people say a lot of things about Batman, especially that Batman enjoys this feud with the Joker and he cares more about him than others.
1. ''to hell with your morals'' why even save people then? to hell with them. 2. ''murderers and monsters simply go to prison or an asylum'' every case is different. in Joker's case, he is insane. some claim he has all mental problems on record. meaning according to the law he can't be held responsible for his actions. and like it or not even Joker still has rights. if you lived in Gotham you could complain about the asylum failing. 3. ''no one would blame them for using the death penalty'' if Gotham City has or had a death penalty is up for debate. 4. why some dirty cop doesn't try to kill Joker? for one he's inside an asylum. or send to it. under constant surveillance. yet this actually is explored in the game Arkham Asylum where the warden tried to murder Joker. what happened? as you would expect, he took advantage of the situation and escaped. with other words if a dirty cop tried there would be a dead cop and a gun in Joker's hand. decades worth of stories have shown us one thing: never underestimate this guy.
"Justification is killing me, _but killing isn't justified."_ Although, I don't think it was JUST that the Joker killed the wife and unborn child, Superman also started having flashbacks to Krypton when Joker decided to bring it up, so I think a bit of projecting got involved and made it worse... oh and not to mention thousands of others. I can't imagine that helplessness SM felt right then.
The best dead scene for the Joker would be, him and Batman just like the Telltales, Joker askin "Did u ever saw me as your friend?" Batman "Yes" Joker "Final Pun than - dies-"
The people who were killed by the Joker also do not deserve to be killed. There is no point in granting someone the right to live, and he takes that right from others. From negligence in the lives of others, it is easy to humiliate him.

The reason the joker is so much of a threat compared to the other villians is that he is deemed clinically insane which he is but he is also very smart and cunning which makes him double the danger because he can't be sent to a maximum security prison or get a death sentence, the best the justice system can do is put him in a high security asylum which is not the same to a maximum security prison
When I had first beat the batman Arkham Asylum game, I was thrilled that the joker was back in the asylum where he belonged, and then I played Batman Arkham City and when the joker died there I noticed that going back and playing the old games with him in it, is not the same.
I personally would have removed his 'death' from Phantasm. That movie takes place in the DCAU, and there are Joker stories set after the events of that movie, so he logically didn't die. I would have replaced it with his 2nd death from BB: ROTJ, because of the excellent writing leading up to it. "What, you couldn't get work as a rodeo clown?"
Return of the Joker has the best death, simply because it's the one where the Joker wasn't laughing when he died, where he didn't win in some capacity. He is denied EVERYTHING he'd want in his own death, and it is perfect because of it.
Both of his deaths in that film were excellent. He loses in his moment of triumph during Round One, betrayed by someone who frankly may have been one of the only people he trusted, even though in hindsight, it's obvious why that was a mistake. And in Round Two, an upstart kid he doesn't even consider a worthy opponent beats him. More humiliating still is the fact that said "kid" was one of the few people who knew how to get under his skin. The way he recited Joker's lines from before his first death was a great nod to this. Terry McGinnis became a living mockery of his failure to get what he wanted. He didn't break Bruce, he didn't make Bruce laugh, he didn't even get to kill Bruce. Instead, he was laughed _at_ by that "punk" kid for being...frankly pathetic at the core, and he knew it. A great way to pass the torch for McGinnis, and give the Joker what he deserved.
So I only just found out a while ago the Joker's first appearance was in 1940, and I'm just like dAAAAAAAAaang he's been here for like, 80 years now! Who else didn't know that?
Well this story is one that I beleive will be told throuout time. They have created and rebooted batman so many times already. BTW it is the original story that was created in the 1940's, and batman has evolved in every iteration.
Honestly, if the Joker succeeded in murdering 5 million innocents and killing so many people in other stories, I think Batman is a MASSIVe prick for not killing him at that point. The dudes a walking atomic bomb who keeps blowing up all the time, and Batman won't end it because it's "morally unethical". IDGAF. And he gives superman a lot of shit for finally killing the joker. He's basically choosing 1 person over 5 million + future victims rather than the other way round...
He's choosing order over Anarchy, justice over revenge. What use does it realistically have to kill the joker? Will it bring his victims back to life? No, it won't. Yes, the joker has to be stopped, and maybe he should be executed if imprisonment doesn't work (which, given the means of the justice league, is probably possible). But then it needs to be done by a court with checks and balances, not by one man.
@@anna-flora999what's stopping the court from removing Batman's input on the decision and just straight up giving the death penalty? Also screw the themes of honour and revenge, he's a national threat that keeps becoming more and more dangerous. Killing the joker shouldn't make you go into a decline and turn you eventually evil, if anything, it's relief. Of course killing a person is something that can be traumatic, but look at the other JL heroes, I'm pretty sur e they have killed before and they seem fine

@@Sarnatuile no its rather that he saves batman even after not being saved by him. It's more like "how could you let him do this to me". But also breaking kind of a rule that is made to not kill that also makes him think he's lost everything, sanity and being Robin.
Or maybe he's just breaking down after:
- Being tortured and brainwashed for weeks
- Coming close to killing his own mentor/father-figure
- Killing his captor in a somewhat brutal fashion
- Having gone through all of this at the age of like, 12

That final joker laugh in Mask of the Phantasm still haunts me to this day... Hamil somehow gave the most spine tingling laugh I've ever heard. He knows it's his end along with Andrea and probably Batman, and all he can do is laugh while everything burns to the ground. That laugh is THE greatest Joker laugh of all time.
CripTik Storm Ikr? Makes me finally realize something. Jack Nickelson is a pretty good joker, Ledger is an excellent joker, but Mark is THE Joker!
How has Joker never been given the death penalty?

Joker when stabbed: "Are you out of your mind?"
I like that it isn't even him joking either, he's legit like WTF dude.

It still wouldn’t be “right” but how many people are gonna put real effort into investigating that without being a criminal sympathizer themselves?
actually, you have the point there.
Grabnok The Destroyer rrrrrqrrrain
That is true I mean not one of them has gotten the death penalty and they all have done some fucked up shit
1. ''to hell with your morals''
why even save people then? to hell with them.
2. ''murderers and monsters simply go to prison or an asylum''
every case is different. in Joker's case, he is insane. some claim he has all mental problems on record. meaning according to the law he can't be held responsible for his actions. and like it or not even Joker still has rights. if you lived in Gotham you could complain about the asylum failing.
3. ''no one would blame them for using the death penalty''
if Gotham City has or had a death penalty is up for debate.
4. why some dirty cop doesn't try to kill Joker? for one he's inside an asylum. or send to it. under constant surveillance. yet this actually is explored in the game Arkham Asylum where the warden tried to murder Joker. what happened? as you would expect, he took advantage of the situation and escaped. with other words if a dirty cop tried there would be a dead cop and a gun in Joker's hand. decades worth of stories have shown us one thing: never underestimate this guy.
"Justification is killing me, _but killing isn't justified."_
Although, I don't think it was JUST that the Joker killed the wife and unborn child, Superman also started having flashbacks to Krypton when Joker decided to bring it up, so I think a bit of projecting got involved and made it worse... oh and not to mention thousands of others.
Yeah he survived somehow. Clearly the guy who made this hasn’t watched the movie or animated series recently

Even more interestingly, they were going to kill him off originally until he had really positive feedback.
@@lowhp_comic there is a difference between killing someone in battle and executing someone
@@anna-flora999 but it ends in the same way: ending a world wide threat from killing many more people, either through the sacrifice of some moral code or being branded a vigilante
Check Dark night Metal for what will happen if batman choose to kill villains.
11:50 notice that the flag that Batman’s son was holding was in front. But when he shot the joker, the “BANG!” sign was sticking out instead of the back
Edit: and when the Joker fell off of the box, the flag didn’t pierce through his body
Well the flag might not be long enough
to me, the most memorable moment was where batman snaps and gets a badass suit, goes to apokalips(while slowly dying) just to save( or avenge) his son.
both badass and heartbreaking moments
This would have been the best death:
Joker laughs to death
Lol and spell laugh right

1:25 Even at 21 years old that scene still makes me terrified. Mask of the Phantasm is without a doubt the best animated Batman movie!

I liked the Killing Joke one. That one was so emotional
LOL
Caleaha R it’s never shown that Batman kills the Joker, and doesn’t Batman have a no killing thing?
Sean West that ending shows batman killing the joker
After the joke, batman understood that everytime he tries to help the joker he'll just kill more people and become crazier
No, it never shows Batman killing The Joker. LIke the graphic novel, the ending is left purposefully ambiguous.
Dirk Steele it absolutely is. Because the writer himself said “Joker isn’t dead. It’s meant to show that the cycle is just starting again”
Joker: * Drinks Cure Off The Dirty Ass Floor *
Batman's Face: 😳
you didnt explain how bad was the injustice death... joker used fear toxin on superman and he tricked superman into killing lane himself ( he thought she was doomsday) and her unborn baby and made the bomb that blew up metropolis go off (it was linked to lane's heart beat)
Yahli Haham but in The Original Injustice game, that was a multiverse Joker. But Injustice 2 carrys the tradition still of Joker being dead.
AnustySFM he’s talking about the Injustice comic. Not the game
it wasn't that bad, superman just ripped out his heart
Josh Keller yeah girls do it to me all the time
if you've played the game you would've seen it.

But in Arkham Knight *(SPOILER ALERT)* he *jump scare* at the beginning of the game...
That's what I've been told...
U MONSTA!!!!
i was talking bout " u feeling sympathy for joker" u cruel son of a bitch >:(
One of the most unrealistic things and most annoying in pretty much all Batman fiction is whether it's superman, Batman, Jason, or anyone else all the other heros and the world at large always hate whoever kills the joker. Absolute bs.
1:25 I think this is one of Mark Hamill's best Joker laughs.
