- In this video, I bring to you the evolution of Jax's most popular move, the "gotcha" grab, which has been around since Jax's debut in MK2 until his latest appearance in MK11. I look at the elements of gameplay and storyline to bring to you the development of this influential character in the last few years.

@@MakoSucks both also both born during mocap. In the first one, Ed asked Pesina to put emphasis on the key poses and not so much in the movement, to get the thing like "Wah! Get over here!". And then the catchphrase born.
Then in the moment when they have to mocap the second game, while capturing Jax moves Tobias said it would be cool to have a multiple hit attack, and then Boon said it could be like taking the opponent with one hand, like "gotcha", and then start to beat out the s**t of the other guy with the other hand. And thy, another catchphrase casually born.

Gotcha does more damage and is more deadly but the get over here is more iconic and cool, also it can lead to a combo.

MK11 sounds and looks aesthetically the best to me, but man, MKX looks like he's really doing a lot of damage with each punch. "You think you bad" is a dope line too.

You can hear Jax quietly say “Gotcha” in MK11
Usually it waits until he's finished saying "gotcha!" before you start punching them in the face, but in MK11, you *immediately* start pummeling them.
They should've made it more louder. Especially with Scorpion's "Get Over Here!" its so quiet in mk11 .-.

I swear they did EXTREMELY well with the faces/models used for MK 11!! Especially the men! Mainly Jax, Johnny Cage, Kano and even Kung Lao! I hope they continue using those faces and bodies!

Captain Marvel was a Fawcett character back in the 50s. SHAZAM was just the magic power word and the acronym for how Billy and Mary Batson were powered by the various gods. They were sued by DC because the character was similar to Superman. During the legal fight, DC ends up buying Fawcett, making Captain Marvel and Mary Marvel part of the DC family.
The reason why DC titles their Captain Marvel as SHAZAM now has to do with how DC Comics mishandled the IP for the comic title. Marvel created a "Captain Marvel" named Mar-Vell at a time when DC did not publishing Captain Marvel (SHAZAM) comics. In the comics world, one has to keep publishing to maintain IP or lose it after a certain period of time (this is also the reason why you keep seeing reboots and reimaginings). Ms. Marvel (Carol Danvers - who is a riff on Linda Danvers...the 60s Supergirl) became "Captain Marvel" to keep the title IP in Marvel's hands. And a new character was created to take over the Ms. Marvel moniker - again to keep the IP.
