I'll be using YouTrip for my first Japan trip as well. The currency rate for Yen is very near all-time high over the last decade, very good for foreigners to visit Japan in the near future.

Hi Demi! Thanks so much for this very helpful walk through. Hope to confirm -- if I use YouTrip for tap to pay, 0 fees also right and no limit? It will automatically convert my SGD to KRW and no additional charges?
Given that the FREE cash withdrawal is up to SGD 400 only, planning to use tap to pay of YouTrip when in Korea too for back-up. Thanks so much!

    HI Demi, Nice video.
While not fully relevant to the topic of your video, which is utilizing a card for overseas travel, it's also important to let your followers know when comparing Trust and YouTrip is that, for the period that you're not travelling, any money sitting idle in the Trust Bank account earns interest while any unused funds in the YouTrip wallet doesn't earn any interest.

    Thanks for the update video!
May I ask a kinda silly question - if my trust card is a debit card only and I didn't apply for the trust credit card, can I still use it in Taiwan to withdraw TWD from the local ATM? and also use the debit card as a paywave payment just like a credit card paywave as long as my trust bank account has SGD?

I have watched a few videos from your channel and applied for trust bank debit card for my TW trip last year. Really thankful for all the video guides.

Heya demi! I will be going to japan soon and i will be bringing my youtrip card. I have a qn! For example i used up all my yen on my youtrip card and i still have 200sgd in my card and i want to withdraw cash from the ATM machine. Do i need to exchange my sgd to yen on the app first to withdraw the cash or is it possible for the atm to convert the sgd in the card to yen automatically? And are the rates btr on app or the ATM?

    • @DemiZhuang

Hi Demi, is the physical card linked to the virtual card (topping up the virtual card also tops up the physical card)? I’ve noticed that they have different card numbers and have to be added separately to Apple Pay. If they are linked, is there a need to use the physical card when I’m overseas?

Hi, CAD not a supported currency on YouTrip, so just top up SGD and spend. It is supported as a wallet on Wise and Revolut! Did a recent review on Wise for the rates here - th-cam.com/video/DZcBFZienkU/w-d-xo.htmlsi=3Y-dQ8hREqbdAuWH I've been comparing Revolut recently will be posting a video on it soon but thus far the rates are better than wise for KRW and JPY. You can try compare for CAD! Just take note, for revolut, don't exchange on the weekends because there's a 1% fee!

What about using trust debit card overseas instead of trust credit card? Would debit card have less chance of incurring these random interest rate charges?
Also less risk in case of stolen card (you may not realise soon enough to turn off the credit card function on the app in time before the thief spends the card)

@@engminglee6856 there was cc payment made on early Aug at hospital using Trust card . Statement came out on Aug which I paid fully on late Aug before due date . However strangely Trust charge 'Purchase interest charged' on 13 Sep again after full payment made back on Aug. So I report to In app CS . Normally In app then they give me generic answer (due to non full payment or date is due . we cannot share my screenshot evidence in-app live chat ) So I call instead and ask them for check in system then CS explain their interest calculation cumulative daily so even after payment made before due date , interest still calculated from date I charged card to date I paid . It still does not make sense to me because that's why we use CC from any other bank and even Trust card I cannot find reasons 1. why other txn like fair price doesn't incur charge from day I use to day I paid 2. why there is interest on Sep for month of aug backdated calculation . It's WIP case not yet resolved for me 😅 my instinct told me it could be one off system glitch for my case but things can be improved “in app chat” and customer service training
