    Would love to see a "Does Sharpening Your Grooves Add Spin?" ...or even do anything at all? haha. Take an old club and see what Matty's numbers are and then sharpen the grooves to see what, if anything, that it does. Great content, guys!

      Just got one from AMAZON and have done some late night sharpening! Actually, I think it does more removal of CRAP as opposed to sharpening, but maybe it results in the same thing?

    • @kourt2469
      @kourt2469 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They don’t really increase spin enough to be worth doing but they’ll definitely damage your club face by removing the chrome if you slip at all and are also super dangerous cause you need a lot of force to shear the metal and if you slip it may end up stabbing your hand or leg. If you really want to increase spin the best way is to sand blast the face with aluminum oxide sand which Roughens up the face between the grooves. Or just replace your wedge.

      Grooves don't create spin, they allow a place for dust, dirt, grass, and water to go so the metal and ball can have friction. Think of a race tire vs a street tire. In ideal conditions no grooves will create the most spin, but that won't work on the course.

    That was fun to watch, sooo close to an Ace! A lot of divots to fix Can’t wait to try the ACCRA TZW.
    2:13 you are correct, within a flex the Dynamic Gold sub-flexing S2/3/4 is only a weight change; however, the entire shaft profile does change vs flex, providing a much different feel.
    - R3 flex - 7” x .580” butt @ 127g making it play softer
    - S2 Flex - 8” x .600” butt @ 128g Stiff
    - X1 Flex - 10” x .600” butt @ 130g X Stiff
    - X7 Flex - 10” x .610” butt @ 132g XX Stiff
    A lighter alternative Dynamic Gold 115 wedge:
    - S Flex - 9” x .600” butt @ 115g Stiff
    Keep up the great content!!

    Fantastic video! Definitely confirming the move I am about to make with going into a wedge specific shaft. Didn't see much difference in the PW or GW but partial shots and full shots in the SW and LW definitely saw a bigger difference in spin generated with relatively the same swing throughout testing! Thanks guys! Maybe do some testing and comparing between different wedge specific shafts?

    This is really a timely video for me, as I just switched from Dynamic Gold S200 steel shafts in my three lofted wedges (49*, 54* and 60*) to graphite wedge shafts and put them in play today. I now use SteelFiber i110cw shafts in my gap and lob wedges and a 125 gram shaft in my 54* SW (I know that I may be mental, but I like the feel of a heavier and stiffer shaft in my sand wedge). I took the three wedges to the range and hit a variety of shots there this morning, including lots of pitches and chips on the chipping green and many sand shots with both the 54* and 60* wedges, and put them in play in my evening league tonight. I had my best wedge performance in recent memory this evening (OK, with the exception of one green where I blasted a 60* wedge shot over the green from a greenside bunker). I never thought that I would like composite wedge shafts, even though I play KBS Tour Graphite shafts in my irons, but these shafts feel and perform great for me!
    By the way, Matty Boy, you hit all three of your wedges about 20 yards further than I hit my comparable wedges with a full swing.

    Maybe 18 or so years ago a young man brought me his set of Ping irons and a set of S400 shafts to be put in them. I told him the weight difference in what was in the Ping shafts and S400 would change the feel for sure, it's what he wanted so I did it. He was out of town for a week, so I took them out to the local range at hit/tested them out, the 7 thru wedge were the best feeling short clubs I had hit in years, 5 days later I had pulled the S300 out of my 7 thru wedge/gap wedge and put in S400s and never regretted the change. I'm older now and playing 60 gram graphite shafts, but back then those S400 shafts felt fantastic.

    Graphite shafts are definitely going to be making their way into more bags...I would love to see the MMT wedge shaft vs the Accra TZW...as someone who is swings a 7iron at 95mph - I'm seriously considering graphite for my next shafts - MMT's through to wedge - then stability shaft in putter???? Might as well go full graphite bag...love the work boys, keep em coming

    Great vid, best out there..in the 60 degree seems like the gap between carry and overall distance is more accurate for the S400 - 101-99 yards and Accra - 99-95 .... is this because of the gearing effect of the Accra. I was wondering isn’t this more significant than the gear effect + lower strike and the 700 rpm extra spinn ? Grtz from the Netherlands 🇾🇪

  • @wallstreetoneil
    @wallstreetoneil 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Even if the slightly more shaft lead deflection which presents the tiniest bit more loft but is offset by the tiniest bit of face rotation isn't real on grass as the club goes through turf, the fact is the shaft is a nice heavy graphite shaft with vibration absorbing qualities that many golfers would like to have for comfort on their elbows and wrists. What happened to the new controlled Matt that isn't going to hit 100 yard 60 degree wedge shots that zip back off the green? Tyler will be calling from Florida shortly I suspect. I didn't expect the S400 to be more dynamic toe down - that alone makes this an interesting shaft.
