I upgraded from a 5600X to a 5800X3D a couple months ago, and the performance gap is stuupid huuuge. In the first days, I noticed when others had massive lag spikes, standing frozen in front of me, while for me it was just a short spike. This is more noticeable in clubs

Ah good you got a CPU video now! The 13900k and 5800x3D are nearly neck and neck in terms of performance from what i can tell. The 5800x3D might be slightly ahead a bit though. I got a 13900k and a friend of mine has a 5800x3D and it seems we usually end up with around the same frame rate. We haven't done any real performance benchmarks though. We both got the same GPU too (3090ti) and the CPU is still the bottleneck in both cases but from what I can tell performance usually caps out around 60-70 in say a full black cat instance, and only hits the frame cap in small optimized worlds with few people. I have another friend with a regular 5800X and it seems to be only slightly behind the X3D variant. (Though he also has a much weaker GPU). I still chose the 13900k because its still ahead in many single threaded tasks and absolute dominates in multi-threaded for the occasional time i need it. But for VRChat and Most games the 5800x3D is still the absolute best price/performance.

As a person with a ryzen 9 5950x and a rtx 3070 ti I wouldnt call it a VRC banger now, either the unoptimization of the maps sucks balls or the people avatars just undermine the performance, it still gets job done quite well that you are not constantly compelled to turn off other peoples avatars for the sake of performance as long as the CPU and GPU are within safer parameters with good heat solutions and airflow you will be fine, but you will still suffer FPS spikes.

@@cid_vrc Thanks, they are my favourite avatar. I love using them with Full Body Tracking.
I upgraded to a Valve Index, a Cable Pulley System and 3 Vive Tracker 3.0s, 10 days ago, from a Quest 2 PCVR experience. It's been so much fun hanging out and doing cool tricks with my friends, and also meeting new people, for hours on end until my controllers and trackers almost die (sometimes I pop them on charge while sitting around and watching videos with friends until I've got another few hours that I can keep using them again). I've already put on nearly another 100 hours on VRChat since then on top of the nearly 400 hours I got since the start of October according to Steam.
(Yep, I literally may as well be living in VRChat, lol. It's my favourite game of all time and I think it'll probably be my first 10k+ hours game.)
The avatar is 140mb and has 1.6 million polygons with the massive amount of things it can do with the expressions menu but because of this it drops my performance to 45~ FPS in an average performance world on my own. (It's interesting as I get only 5ish fps lower in the same world but with 10-15 other players.)
Whereas with other 20mb and 90k polygon avatars, it'll go from 80-90 FPS in that same world on my own to 50 FPS in the same world with 10-15 other players.
Currently got an RTX 3070, Ryzen 5 5600x and 16gb of DDR4 2666MHz Ram and running VRChat with my Valve Index at 300% SteamVR resolution as opposed to the default 150%.
I'm hoping the 5800X3D will help a lot. Seeing you say all this makes me confident that it will. Thank you.
I've also seen your GPU video and I'm planning on buying an RTX 3090 early next year, once I've got some more money from working and selling my old parts, for the extra VRAM of 24GB over the 8GB that always is maxed out on VRChat according to MSI Afterburner (unless I'm alone where it will be around 6-7 GB). Hopefully that should help massively as well.
There is literally nothing else online that goes into anywhere as much detail as you do for what CPU and GPU to use for VRChat so thank you very much for all your help. 👍

LMAO a 1.6 million polygon Rusk. That's insane, no wonder you only get 45 FPS alone XD
And it's also funny that you started in October and you're already hundreds of hours in with a pulley system. I started in April I think, and I definitely went straight into upgrading my setup as fast as possible. I guess we're traveling on the same path!

@@cid_vrc Thanks for the pinned and hearted comment. ❤
And yes, this avatar is insane but I love it. I probably have nearly 200 of my hours just on this avatar (and probably 100+ head pats by now :3).
Ah I see you started this year as well. Nice. And indeed, we both appear to be going down the same path in upgrading our setups as quick as possible and playing a lot of VRChat. With me essentially playing enough time to be living a 2nd life in VRChat and that I have all my friends there, I thought I may as well make it as good as I can get it. 😉
Also, I have already shared your videos to a few of my friends who I play VRChat with and have on Discord to tell them I'm upgrading my system once again and that these videos helped. Hopefully if any of them need any help then this should help them. I'll also be sure to link them to these videos if anyone asks for advice on what to get to have a great experience on VRChat. :) (And don't worry, I won't spam it!)
To be specific, I first tried VRChat back on the 3rd of June and I only played a few times a month with the 1 friend I asked to show me VRChat that I saw him playing here and there. (I never really understood why he played VRChat probably due to struggling to make friends in real life which VRChat definitely helped me with.) (Since I got my Quest 2, as my first VR HMD, and Link Cable in September 2020 for my 17th Birthday, I had only used it to play Beat Saber through Steam on PC.) He played with me whenever he was able to - which sadly wasn't very frequent.
It wasn't until the 30th of September (only about 20-30 hours on VRChat by then), when I got tired of playing so little, that I tried to play on my own and then made a friend through VRChat. I never expected anyone to join as the world was completely abandoned. It was amazing. I did the same the next day as well with someone else on the Japanese Shrine world. From there, I met their friend groups and became friends with those people as well.I started playing daily for many hours (from 3 to as much as 20 until I fell asleep in VRChat, on my bed, in 1 mad run 🤣). We all discovered new worlds and avatars together. We met many people various countries who all could speak different languages and had their own stories. I made more friends and have quite a few close friends who I would've never met otherwise and I spend hours everyday hanging out with at least a few of them. It's great.
Over that time, I also discovered I love being able to be who I want and look how I want to in VRChat as well as loving to be immersed as much as possible.
I've also captured 3100+ photos all in 4K since the 30th September 2022 (all in 4k which has taken up 18GB taken up so far. Oof.)
I've also found that 10+ hours can easily go by in what feels like 5 minutes. (If only that were the same with working a job. 😆)
There is so much I look forward to being able to experience with what VRChat and VR, in general, have to offer right now and in the future alongside the friends I have and will make.
Thanks for reading. I hope you enjoyed my story.
Keep up the good work with your channel and I will look forward to your new videos as well. :)

I now have a 5800X3D paired with a 3090 strix I scored for a nice price. I should probably do more than raving because raves on ultra, AA x2, and with 20+ verypoors along with everyone else will still have me around 40fps. tho if it's just me wandering around my Q2 stays pegged at 120. but what have noticed in busy worlds, frametime is much more stable compared to my 5700X. def smooths out the experience.

Is there any testing of Windows 10 vs 11 for VRChat? I know Tupper has stated that "windows 11 is better because it has a better CPU scheduler", but I haven't see a whole lot of A to B comparisons where someone installs VRChat on windows 10, checks render time, then does the same thing with 11 and checks under the same circumstances.
There's numerous examples of the X3D definitively proving itself, but not as much for 10 vs 11.

The largest down side of 5800x3d is locked manual vcore & freq, problem being is that any type of frequency scaling algo on the cpu will always leave you with choppier frames and annoying slow downs when switching applications or even cpu being idle for let's say 5-10 seconds. And I would argue these freq scaling performance jumps are annoyin as hell.

Hey, im super unfamiliar with pc requirements, but I was wondering would it make any sense for me to get a 5800x3d, if as a gpu I only got a 3060?
I know that it's a huge bottleneck everywhere else, but if we're talking exclusively vrchat
    (Rn I'm running with a 3600)
Update: oh my lord, its amazing! I pretty much doubled my framerate from around 30 fps to a very smooth 70 fps (i'm aware that some might say that's still low, but for someone who grew up with toaster computers, this is very nice)
of course graphically it looks pretty much the same, but it just makes it so much easier on the eyes. I just feel better when playing, and its made my vr experience way nicer.
So if anyone is on the same boat as I was, I can HIGHLY recommend upgrading your cpu!

Bear in mind desktop class CPUs only have two "Dual" channels. Despite virtually all MOBOs having 4 slots, running 4 sticks is somewhat a bodge and can hinder getting the maximum possible performance out of the RAM you have. Even moreso if the RAM you add doesn't match your existing RAM. Yes, more RAM is nice but once you've got 16GB, I'd say speed and latency are more important than capacity.

So. A 5800x or 5800x3d seem to be awesome but the prices are at like 40% difference.

If you have the quest, you can also mess with the oculus debug settings and the sidequest settings on the PC

It's FOMO hype mainly + content to put out. For actual information check out actual reviewers that take time to generate the data/understanding of how things work and why so u come out informed vs "this is great , buy it" clickbait is all to common these days, some for the wrong reasons, others just cuz over hype.
