Sorry everyone, I did forget to tell you about the cleaner. I use a $9 wool pressing mat cleaner. It works fantastic😍❣️ here’s a link to one I found I online www.sewingpartsonline.com/products/gypsy-quilter-wool-mat-cleaning-tool?currency=USD&variant=46901076787487&Google%20Shopping&stkn=8b7814f4b373&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAAD6k45FGvSBeTb-wHl4cP-XcxLynb&gclid=Cj0KCQjwsPCyBhD4ARIsAPaaRf2a4bMjjAgjNrdX7JxH4NeQuqJHyZMehIMg3_1ufm0x3GAj5ruqhMgaAiOAEALw_wcB
Me cheap😱? LoL 😂 I’m cheap until I want what I want😉 It’s beautiful ❣️ You my dear friend are a rockstar 🤩 Thank you ❣️ I can’t wait to receive it! So excited 🎊 Love Ya♥️
We are all cheap Tracy until you see that one thing we can not walk away from My husband is a model railroader he spends 3 and 4 hundred dollars on a train engine with sound he does save up for it, but it’s a lot of money #Cheap😂
Love it Di 🎉 I use the back of a plastic table cloth lol it works . Now I can make a real Design Wall. Thank you for sharing. Enjoy your Vacation ❤ don't worry about those Rude people comments. Don't watch if you don't like it .
Fun project! I may make one just to have for travel purposes. I am lucky to have two big 4 x 8 foam insulation boards, which still aren’t big enough for all of the projects I work on at one time! I am a quilting butterfly- I flit from project to project until they get done! 😂
I think your "panel" quilt was striking. When I saw that you were going to cut it up in so many small strips, I was flummoxed. But the end result was nice. Thanks for sharing that tutorial and this one, too. Take care and blessings to y'all.
I absolutely loved your panel quilt challenge...it gave me some wonderful ideas since i have a few panels that i dont know what to do. Thanks for the ideas
Another FANtastic Video!! Your love for quilting, teaching & friends it what makes you SO special!! (& I'm noticing over the past few years that it is more common than not among quilters :) Enjoy your well-deserved vacation! Praying for safe travels 🙏 Thank you & the engineer for all your hard work, creativity & humor😊
I love the design wall idea. I love how you put Tracy's logo on hers. I have done that type of binding on a table topper, but I had to sew two different color fabrics together to make a binding so my sister could use the topper for two different seasons. One fabric didn't go with both sides, so I improvided. I hope that made sense. I really like that binding technique. I live your videos, I'd really like to meet up with you all (my favorite you tubers that i watch) one of these days. Have fun on vacation. By the way, Tracy is going to love it. I'm hoping you both do a live when she gets it.
I loved what you did with the panel by cutting it up. In fact I wasn't very enamored with the pictures in the panels at all. I loved that you were able to redeem the images into something appealing.
❤ suggestion: use the right bedding on both sides so it can be reversible. Second suggestion would be to put grommets at the Top of the design wall quilt so you don’t have to worry about finding binder, clips and pins when you go to hang it up.
Love your design wall..I have been wanting to do but didn’t know how….I also watched the panel challenge…I like loved yours BEST.. have a great vacation.❤️❤️
Thanks for sharing this idea. I am thinking flannel backed tablecloth on floor is going to be replaced soon! I am getting dizzy bending over to adjust blocks. 😂 ❤ (70+ yo and only twin bed)
Thanks Di for a great idea! I haven’t seen anyone else make a design wall like this before. I’m definitely going to make one for myself. I love your channel!
If you put a piece of batting up, you can take it down with the quilt, just add backing? Let the cottons collect then use it in a darker quilt? You can clip it up, pin it to a sleeve? Put it over a curtain. On a spare curtain rod, over a pair of bookshelves or open cupboard doors. on a foldable room divider, there are so many options. Find out what works for you? Lay it on a bed, do you have a spare one? If you don't have a wall free? Fold it up with the blocks, until next time. Cut a baby size, twin, double? Put a smaller one, table runner on a few chairs or a couch? Lay a few design boards out and put a batting over them? Have fun.
Tracy maybe this is Di’s @sisterchicksquilting way of saying sorry for the big scare of being thrown in the slammer over the 🐥 pin cushion. 🤣🤣🤣 🍿🍫🤣 🤣 I love the design wall!!
Di love how you and Tracy have a fabulous long distance friendship!! When you called her cheap in your video I was definitely in stitches with laughter!! I thought “Di is gonna get it now!” 🤣🤣🤣 Granted Tracy @thesewingchannel said she had friends who were fabric snobs. 🤣🤣🤣 I love to watch both of your videos. I learn a lot from both of you and also have my mind blown. The binding you did on the design wall had my head spinning!! That’s an amazing trick to have up your sleeve!! Thank you for sharing your tips and tricks and beautiful projects!! I’m still going to keep my 🍿🍫🍿 handy!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣LOL
Hi Di, I personally loved your cut up panel Irish chain quilt last week, totally awesome looking, Hey thanks for sharing how you made this design wall quilt. I mean who knew to make a quilt for it! Job well done, Tracy will love it! Take care and have a blast on your vacation, safe travels ❤
Love all your videos ❤ back in the day 80s and 90s I would have never cut a panel up but it is only fabric and I do have a larger stash now so I do cut them up and never blink a eye 😉 Have a great Vacation Stay Safe 🙏
Yes I love watching your videos. Now down to business. When can you start making me a design wall for my sewing room? I am serious and I will pay you for supplies and your time and effort. Love from another long distance quilting friend. LOL. Sheila
Thank you for this inspiring video. I just completed my own. I have a space 6" wide by 7" tall. I cut a piece of batting to size and a little larger piece of wide backing. I quilted them together on my domestic machine with just wavy lines (it came out a little bit wonky, but I'm okay with that.) Then I trimmed the backing to 1" and folded it over twice to form the binding. It's perfect for my space! It's not as beautiful as yours, but it's functional.
Loved your tutorial for a quilt design wall. I love your idea of teasing this gift out until your friend saw it on your channel! Lol. I know you must be a great and fun friend. I just love all your knowledge. I love to learn from masters of their craft. I need all the help I can get being a newbie at quilting at 64. My mom did quilt, and I learned alot of basics as a child, but then I stopped being interested. My mom did sew on her Singer, but all quilting was done by hand sewing or tying knots. ❤
I Love this idea. Tracy will love it! You are such a good friend!! I may have my local longarmer do this for me at a later date. Recently, I measured my double closet in my sewing room on the outside edge of the top molding for width and length. I purchased the flannel with a grid a few inches wider and longer than the closet. I hemmed all sides-with a rod pocket on the top. I have an inexpensive 1" rod a few inches longer than the closet width measurement. I also purchased hanging brackets that will fit the rod from Quik Hang. All my drapes/curtains in my home hang from these type brackets. So EASY to install. No leveling needed. Just tap them in and done! I can hang my design wall from the rod-- I can leave it up or take it down. When I remove the design wall, the brackets/rod can stay up in place and it doesn't hinder the operation of the bi-fold doors. If you have a flannel backed tablecloth, you could use the cafe rings/clips on the rod.
Really cool! Looks so great, that binding fabric is adorable!! I must have missed the kick back on the panel cut up😮, I thought your quilt was amazing, an Irish chain ...classic, that panel never looked so good!! Lol. You were thinking outside the box and it was so creative!! Thanks for sharing ❣️
Love your videos thank tou! I wrap small squares of the rubber nonslip stuff you put in drawers around my quilt and clip the binder clips to that. So far they have always held. . I keep meaning to glue the non slip into the clips but alas that hasn't happened yet.
I could use one in my sewing room. However, I am thinking of making one to hang from the heavy curtain rod that is already in place. It could serve as a flat curtain to help insulate the room, help block out the sun, and work as a design wall when I need one. Thank you for this great idea.
My engineer put a similar wood strip in our bedroom so I have a design wall there . Batting is so expensive here so i use a flannel backed table cloth - love your video - Tracey will live her gift made from your heart❤
I don't have wall space, so I have a design "curtain" on my doorwall window. I use a big wooden dowel hung on the curtain rod fixtures, roll up when done. And my longarm studio is... my living room!
Wowsers....just Wowsers. I think you should get a patent on your idea!!! Maybe you could sell these quilt design walls and make us happy!! Do you think using elmer's white school glue might help at the mitered corners? It seemed so fiddle-y.
Tracy said I should offer them for sale. I don’t know if I could carve out much production time however❓😬 maybe on the glue, after I did 3 it was so easy.
I have decided i am glad i dont have room inmy apt. For a longarm, looks like to much work after all the work put into a quilt. Love, love your chanel videos! Love your instructions.
This is so cool Di! Have you ever bound a quilt this way? Do you think it would float in a quilt show? My binding in my opinion is awful. Tracy’s gonna love it! What a great friend you are!! ❤
Thank you very much, Marie. It would depend on who the judges were at the quilt show, lol. I can’t wait for Tracy to get it. I’ve shipped it off already. Thanks for always watching.👍🏼♥️🐥
Hi Di! You forgot the thing with what you get rid of the pilling. 🤣 so, wha do you use? Thanx for great video! I dont have a wall, but thinking of hanging a curtain rod from the ceiling and hanging it that Way. Happy sewing 🧵, a great summer and vacation!
🤔🤨Would you ever consider making one side dark and the other light so you can turn your "design wall" around? That way depending on the fabrics you are using they will always stand out on the design wall backing. Or, would that just be an unnecessary step? Thanks, Ru
I imagine if you want to it could be done, I have black batting. I’m going to keep mine white though as I would rarely use the dark side. I do press to the dark side though🤣😂🤗 TFW😊♥️🐥
Love ❤❤❤ Sorry engineer. But one of these would be great to layer on my permanent design wall when I just need something I’m working on between the big project and some thing that gets me restarted. Think I’ll make it and use the grommets. We love you too engineer.
How would it work to sew the small round plastic rings on the top and then hang it on the Command Hooks when at retreat or in a different room? I really enjoy watching you, Tracy and April.
Thank you for sharing this tutorial. This is going to be perfect for me because we move every two years with the State Dept and I can just fold it and take it with me. I noticed you have two Jukis’, which two do you have?

Thanks Jean, we think alike😊👍🏼♥️🐥

What a great idea! Thanks for sharing. I can’t wait to get to working on one for my wall.
Have fun!
My engineer put a similar wood strip in our bedroom so I have a design wall there . Batting is so expensive here so i use a flannel backed table cloth - love your video - Tracey will live her gift made from your heart❤
I those Engineers are handy to have around, right?!? Thanks for watching 😊♥️🐥
Great idea. So much better than flannel backed tablecloth.that i currently use
I've used both and agree with you.
I don't have wall space, so I have a design "curtain" on my doorwall window. I use a big wooden dowel hung on the curtain rod fixtures, roll up when done.

PS I love your Irish Chain quilt. I was not a fan of the panel but it turned out great. Desley🇦🇺
Thanks Delsey, we think alike 👍🏼😊♥️🐥
Great idea for a portable design wall. I wonder 🤔 would pre-washed flannel work?
I think so but it would be quite thin. This one has a little weight to it. Thanks for watching.

That’s exactly how my husband made mine because I had limited room
Very cool, Brenda. I bet you love your little strip as much as I love mine.👍🏼😊♥️🐥
What a great idea..
Thank you Susan! 😊
Love ❤❤❤ Sorry engineer. But one of these would be great to layer on my permanent design wall when I just need something I’m working on between the big project and some thing that gets me restarted. Think I’ll make it and use the grommets. We love you too engineer.
Yes🤣👍🏼🐥
Luv you Di😊
I loved the panel challenge. Now I won't fill so bad cutting mine up.
No bad feelings allowed Diana😂👍🏼😊♥️
How would it work to sew the small round plastic rings on the top and then hang it on the Command Hooks when at retreat or in a different room? I really enjoy watching you, Tracy and April.
That’s what I was thinking, but small metal rings instead of plastic ones. (I can’t get plastic ones near me.)
That’s a good idea 👍🏼😊♥️🐥
Fun fun fun; have a nice holiday😊
Chilling right now by the I ocean 😊👍🏼♥️🐥 thanks

Thank you for sharing this tutorial. This is going to be perfect for me because we move every two years with the State Dept and I can just fold it and take it with me. I noticed you have two Jukis’, which two do you have?
I have the DX-7, it has lotso stitch options & the TL 2010Q the straight stitch. Then I have a Juki Serger too. TFW!
thx
