very informative and appreciate the honest opinion. I am a fan of the pocket 3 and the ace pro, but I will be mainly using the ace pro since I can take it anywhere even underwater, but the pocket 3 just can't do in extreme enviroment
Thank you and I appreciate your feedback. Yes, both are great cameras and have different areas where they excel. The Ace Pro is great for that take anywhere use case.
Great video! Thanks for taking the time to make and post
Excellent ..... thank you for taking the time to produce this detailed comparison ..
You’re welcome and I appreciate your feedback.
Excellent detail description on the action/vlog camera. We can prioritize on our own which to choose for our own needs. Thanks
Appreciate it. Yes, my goal with this video was to provide the needed information to make the decision easier for anyone in the market for one of these.
Great video, exactly what I was looking for!
Thanks!
I start to follow your channel when I was waiting for my ace pro to be delivered. I found your videos are very informative with details very organized👍🏾

Beautiful comparison, thenks.

Thanks for that information!!
You’re welcome!
Great info, thanks
You're welcome and thanks for your feedback!
I look to TH-camrs to be a TH-camr your content has helped me allot with learning the dos and don'ts of action cameras. Good in depth review. bought an action 4 and it hasn't let me down .great camera
Thank you. The Action 4 has been a great camera to own and use.
I currently have the DJI Action 3, which I love, but you are right, it's limited for night time stuff. I'm hoping the 5 will address that problem! I found it great when I went snorkeling and caving last year though, it's very tough and easy to replace a lens if you break one
Very thorough! I have 3 of the 4 cameras (No Action 4), and agree with your findings. GoPro best in good light, Ace Pro best in low light and Osmo best for cinematic (travel, vlog, low light) but, as you said, limited for "action." Having these three in my quiver allows me to make the best of any scenario.
Absolutely. They each have their strengths and weaknesses that make them beneficial in different situations and use cases.
Excellent! Thank you.
You’re welcome!
great content sir, thank you
Thank you. Appreciate it.
Great review. I have been using ace pro for 3 months, it remains my top pick for capturing life's adventures. I'm thrilled with the innovative features it provides, which help me save a lot more time in shooting and editing process. Overall, ace pro is a great choice.
Thank you. Glad you've been enjoying the Ace Pro. It is a fun camera that is capable of a lot.
Danke für das informative Video, das hätte ich vor 3 Monaten sehen sollen! Liebe Grüße aus Tirol
You’re welcome and glad you found this useful.
I was hesitant about acepro and pocket3 but finally decided on acepro. Pocket 3 is not waterproof and kinda fragile in my outdoor use case, and acepro has very good vlogging features, also low light performance better than DJI and gopro...
All valid points and pros with the Ace Pro for sure.
just as a heads up to people reading this thread, the only downside for ace pro for vlogging is it *by far* has the longest minimum focus distance of the 4 cameras and at normal arms length with the ace pro facing you, a face will be slightly out of focus because of this, IMHO this makes ace pro a bit less of an ideal vlogging platform.
@canyonblue737-8 Thank you for emphasizing this here as it is useful info.
Very well done. I have the GoPro Hero10 and the new Ace Pro. I will use them both for motovlogging... the Ace Pro for night rides.
Thank you. Both good choices and the Ace Pro is a great choice for night rides.
Thanks for this excellent comparison video. I think i’ll go with dji pocket 3.
You’re welcome. The Pocket 3 is an incredible camera.
Just began following you, enjoy your comparison here.
I’ve been playing with how to best night lapse with an Action 4. I am a novice but looks like I’ve been fighting an uphill battle
Thank you. Yes, definitely not anything you did wrong with the Action 4.
Amazing video, just subscribed. I think the DJI Action 4 is the best camera for my use case.
Thank you and I appreciate your support. The Action 4 is a great choice and great price.
Fantastic in depth review... the only thing that would have added more to it would have been a few more comparison videos. Thanks!
Thank you for your feedback. I will keep this in mind when doing more videos like this!
Most comprehensive comparison available, super helpful, at the end it seems that the pocket 3 wins but to be perfect it would be with the action 4 for all the more unsafe videos, it's also a lot more discreet, keep up with the great vlogs
Thank you. I’m glad you found this helpful and I appreciate your feedback.
I've got a DJI Mini 3 Pro, Action 4, and Pocket 3 combo with their wireless mic (which also pairs with the Action 4 - which is a great firmware update). That alone is a fantastic benefit. DJI quality has always been excellent, so let's hope that remains so. I also have an Insta 360 X3 which is great for action (sailing in my case) as it allows for framing the action in post when you are too busy to film and sail at the same time.
That’s a great collection of DJI gear you have. The Insta360 X3 is a great camera. I’ve really enjoyed adventures with that camera.
My first but definitely not my last watch of one of your videos. Please don’t burn out though, want your channel to last, great video, thanks. I found it so useful. 👏
Really appreciate your feedback and support! Yes, I have focused on finding a good balance with my content plan for this year in order to combat the risk of burn out.
Hello! Question regarding power supply for timelapse shooting on the GoPro Hero 12 -- what's the best way to ensure the camera stays charged for a multiple hour-long shot in which the camera must remain still (e.g. sunset, stargazing, etc.)? Should it just be connected to an external power source, as opposed to replacing the battery with a fully charged new one? Seems like replacing the battery would jostle the camera and mess up the shot.
Also, if it's connected to an external power source, does that make it more susceptible to damage from weather elements (e.g. condensation, dust, etc.)? If so, how can I prevent that damage?
Thanks so much for the help!
Thank you for the review, I have all these cameras with the accessories, I can tell the best camera for best results and easy to use:
DJI Osmo pocket 3
Insta360 Ace Pro
DJI action 4
Gopro 12
Thank you for your feedback and perspective. Glad you've been able to own and test all of these out as well.
Excellent thorough video mate, I’ve got a GoPro Hero 11 and Osmo Pocket 3. They’re both good, but always worried I’m going to break the Pocket on a hike. GoPro would be so much better if they ironed out all the glitches that plague their new cameras every year.
Absolutely agree. The Pocket 3 is great but it doesn’t replace having action cameras for me. I do bring the Pocket 3 on some hikes while keeping in mind if I drop it, impact it, or fall on it that it’s probably going to need some serious repairs after that (I did buy the DJI warranty). My GoPro and other action cameras I’ve dropped or hit plenty of times and they get a scratch or two but keep on going. Also, I’m hoping for big things from GoPro with the Hero 13 this fall.
which particular Camera is being used during the short vid images throughout during hike w/children?
Forgot to mention Ace pro have low light stabilization. Game changing. I even tried in a go-kart at night and you don't see any jiggle
Great review, we go GoPro, as we have been using them for years without issues and have a lot of legacy mounts etc. and like the new features on the 12. Why no mention of the add-on wide lens for the GP12? BTW a "one inch class" sensor is not that much bigger than a 1/1.9", it's actually about 13x10mm or about 1/1.5" if it's the same size as the Sony and Canon "inch class".
Good point about the Max Lens Mod 2.0.
As far as specific sensor sizes if you look at the mm measurements of the 1/1.9” vs the 1” CMOS the percentage difference is quite significant; however, sensor size is not everything and a lot of other factors matter as well. I, too, like my GoPro cameras. I have owned every single one since the Hero 4 Silver and use my Hero 12 often. Just used it this past weekend in fact.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
which one is bang for bug for overall rating?
I'm a GoPro enthusiast. I prefer the Action 4 over the 10-12.
From iran, thank you for great review
But im still confused im a motor rider and this is first time to buy a action camera but i wanted a cinematic videos on camera and and also in night, can you say what should i chose?
For your use cases I believe the Action 4 or the Ace Pro would be best. Both are good for action and both do great in low light with the right settings. I made this video with the low light settings I recommend for the Action 4: th-cam.com/video/d36laQxaRHA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Kw3tv5gZGH-zKMsy
Does it mean the ace pro has the better image quality among the 3 action cameras since the bitrate is higher? I personally prefer the look of the red rim design, also the flip screen
Great question. Part of the reason the max bitrate is higher is because of the 8K24 resolution that is possible on this camera. The bitrate appears to be lower when filming in 4K. However, when I look at the footage filmed with the Ace Pro next to footage from the other action cameras the quality from the Ace Pro looks great and the clarity and detail are solid. I find the Ace Pro and GoPro Hero 12 to have the best clarity and detail in their footage out of the three action cameras.
I also like the red rim design and flip screen. It's an aesthetically pleasing camera and the flip screen is useful in many situations.
Which camera is best for filming football/soccer games?
Is there any way to set GoPro 4k60 1/50? DJI has no problem, but I need uniform footage from the S24U.
If you’re using 30fps, you’d be limited to shutter speed options of 1/30 and 1/60 on either side of 1/50. In other words, 1/50 isn’t going to show as a shutter speed option for 30fps footage.
@@GreatDayForAHike My mistake, I have already corrected it, I meant 4k60 1/50 - my S23U does not record in 50FPS so it remains 60FPS 1/50 to avoid flickering in the PAL system. Unfortunately, GP 11 does not allow 60FPS 1/50, so there is a problem with combining materials from S23U and GP11. Action allows 60p 1/50.
@Marek_Holland Yes I don’t think there is a way to set it to 1/50 in 60fps but this could be possible if you look into GoPro Labs firmware. There may be a QR code that will enable you to do this.
Brilliant - nice details.
I really don't like the way DJI forces you in the arms of their app for registering - so they're out. AFAIK Gopro doesn't do that shite, you can even update the firmware via the SDcard. I have no idea how Insta360 have done this, so actually the Gopro is my favorite.
Thanks for your feedback.
I'm not sure if the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 can be considered an action camera... It's not waterproof, dustproof, or shockproof and has a lot of exposed moving parts. I consider it as different type of beast altogether: a vlogging camera.
This is a fair point and something I considered before creating this video. I included it because of the size, specs, and the fact that many people use action cameras for vlogging too, but you’re right, the Pocket 3 is designed with one main use case in mind: vlogging. The Pocket 3 is definitely not an action camera for action sports.
@@GreatDayForAHike Great video, by the way (forgot to write it down in the first comment as I was half-asleep while typing)! Full of insight on all cameras! I've got the GPH12 and Pocket 3 and tomorrow I'll get the AcePro. Since I've already got the Action 3, I'll skip Action 4 and go straight for the Action 5, which, judjing from Pocket 3, willl probably be larger in size (similar to AcePro) and feature a 1" sensor, so it'll definitely be worth the upgrade!
@TravellerChris Thanks. Sounds like you have a nice variety of great cameras. Yes, I am hoping for great things from the Action 5 as well.
@@GreatDayForAHike Thank you. 🤩 Yes, I'm also expecting Action 5 to be an amazing camera. As for my camera "collection", I've invested a lot of money in an attempt to continue improving the quality of my videos and offer a little bit more varied content. I'm using each camera for different types of content, as each of them excels on certain fields and none of them is the best on everything, with GPH12 being used mostly for short distance day driving (with MaxLens 2.0)/nightlapse/vehicle lights/star trails, Action 3 also for long distance day driving/hyperlapse, Pocket 3 for walking tours/timelapse and the AcePro for night driving videos. Hopefully, all of my efforts won't go unnoticed from the TH-cam algorithm for much longer. 😅
I agree however i truly appreciate the comparison as i am looking at that and one of the other cameras as well at the moment plus the details sharing great
I hear GoPro overheats a lot. Do the other three do that as well?
wish you've added more visual explanation
Thanks for your feedback and noted.
Actually the difference between 1/1.9 senosor next to 1/1.3 is great. About 2x or bigger and similar to the difference between APS-C and fullframe camera. That's pretty noticeable in the practice in my opinion. The main negatives I see about Insta Ace Pro is the lack of 10 bit video and the agressive hdr artefacts. In many cases that looks cheap and definitely not professional.
All good points. Thanks!
I got my GoPro 12 for $200 can beat that, also I’m happy with it, not saying that others are not better, but I’m good with the Gp12 for that price
That is a great price. For $200 that’s hard to beat.
May be one day I’ll be able to get the Ace Pro. Great video as always brother. 👍🏼
@OutdoorGentleman Thank you.
talking about Pocket 3
Understood.
I have GoPro 11. It sucks. I also have Go 3, Pocket 2, ZV-1 ii, and Sony X3000. Guess which one never gets used? Ding ding ding. GoPro 11. I'm selling it today and will put the money towards Pocket 3. Go 3 isn't the best image quality, but it's fun to use. The others are all fine cameras too.
Pocket 3 is a great choice.
Had the DJI Action 4 but returned when the camera required activation to continue using. It is an infringement of my privacy in my view.
The activation requirements for some of these cameras is unfortunate.
Possibly price wrong on gp12
Right after I filmed this video it looks like GoPro went and did a $50 sale on the camera 😂 Yes, the price was $399 when released but now a $50 sale at $349 and still the subscriber discount.
@GreatDayForAHike OK.. but im a subscriber so went on site after your video & saw no discount..Great video as always..maybe a glitch my side
Ace pro is the only one without 10bit color 😢
Yes, and while this doesn’t allow for much editing flexibility, most action camera users do not necessarily want to grade the footage. I find the footage from the Ace Pro to look great overall considering it is 8-bit. The Ace Pro can hold its own in many areas and I find is a fun camera to use.
GOPRO Hands down, also if you want to re sell it as a used item, the GOPRO will hold the value much more than any of these
You're right. The GoPro cameras do seem to have good resale value.
Opening question: the one where you don't have to put Chinese software on your pc or phone.
Video over. :)
That is certainly a win for GoPro with that criteria.
your talking American dollars because sphere not duble but just an idea I paid 1068.12. or 929 plus tax Canadian
Correct this is in USD.
Action 4 big problem is ugly flare.
I have found the flare to be an issues at times with action cameras over the years. I hadn’t noticed it as being particularly worse on the Action 4 vs other cameras. Although that may be in part that I rarely point my action camera toward the sun except when time lapsing a sunset or eclipse. For most other use cases I typically have the sun at my back.
@@GreatDayForAHike I compared all DJI Actions and version 4 has the worst - they appear most often and have the shape of a trumpet or a baseball bat.
@Marek_Holland Interesting. I haven’t seen that with mine.
@@GreatDayForAHike Take a look, they are a terrible shape and tend to show up a lot compared to the GoPro.
