I've had the action 3 over a year now. Never let me down. The cage can be good if you want to use a wireless mic for the cold shoe ability.

The biggest problem I ran into with the action 4, I had an outdated phone and it would not run Mimo. After spending $400 on the Action 4 package, I then had to then buy a new more modern phone. DJI only gives you 5 chances with the Action 4, then they brick it until you register with the App, there is NO OTHER WAY to register. I found this out when I called DJI customer support. Total scumbag move on DJI. This practice should be illegal! After I bought a new phone, I got it up and running, I am VERY pleased with the quality, Aside from the Mimo App crap, I really love this action cam!

I've had the original Osmo Action for almost 5 years now. Never has it locked up, not got the shot, lost a file or any of the disasters you hear of from GoPro. Why don't I have the newer Osmo? Umm.... Not having money, and the one I have works so well.

How is it during the night? Could you make video on that and show what is the best setting? in low light settings, is the only reason why I'm hesitant.
Nothing looks that good in lowlight. In a downtown setting it will look okay but anything less than that, you basically need night vision. Or an A7SIII. Thanks for watching! Like and subscribe!
Is there a way you can check the camera position before you start filming such as live view in the app?

If i can only get 1, which one? DjI action 4 combo or the insta360 x4 and why?
Edit: The action 4 is half the price. That's an easy choice for me. Buy this camera unless you absolutely need a 360 camera.
I can recommend the action 4. I can't comment on any products from insta360 because I haven't used them or had any contact with them. The reason I would choose the DJI is because they have been around for a long time and I've had a really good experience with every product that I've touched from them. If I needed a 360 camera then I would go with the insta360 because I don't think there are any competitors. If you do decide to buy this camera, use my link in the video description please. i bought one then i bought 2. Feel free to check out some of our recent dive vids but i have found it is also extremely useful as a film cam as you describe. Can even use the thing as a really clean webcam which let me easily interact it to my live stream software i developed

The DJI Action Cams are just wonderful! I use them in Real Estate on the road and in POV all the time. PS. The Sony A7Siii (our main camera) does well in low light. 😀 PPS. Stay away from GoPro for so many reasons.

@@Matt_Dylan insta360 is a brand and they indeed have 360 cameras too, but my question was about their model Ace Pro which is not an 360 camera, it's an action camera.
Oh I see. I still never have used it though. I wish they would change their name. That threw me off.
I have one and like it. But I use the 2k narrow setting as it has less distortion.

Most of the time they only update minor things about the next camrea and all the bugs and updates with firmware they gotta go through once a new camrea release is sometimes a pain. But I appreciate your input for sure.
I have a 3 and 4 for moto vlogging, great combo as the 3 would be fine for most users, I even still use the original Action.
The MIMO app is the reason I’m getting the Acction 4. It works so well with the Pocket series. The GoPro app is so shit it makes my teeth ache. Dji asks for your email address when registering - so what? Use a burner account if it bothers you.

Whats with the registration? For service and proof of ownership? Do the videos and photos download to the app?

@@steve4321able I really don't know. I opened the app and my camera doesn't automatically connect. It doesn't automatically update firmware. It does auto detect if the camera is on, so in theory they could brick your device. It really didn't register as a problem when I bought the camera but I am sympathetic to the criticism.
