      Heads up, there is a glitch I had that caused my CPU to overheat. Once it hits 100°C, it shuts down. I have the regular Scar 17". The issue is related to Dolby Digital sound when using headphones. I ended up doing a system restore to fix it. I setup the manual setting to turn the fans to 100% by the time it hits 80°C. If you don't, it can heat up faster than Turbo mode scales up the fans then shutdown from excess heat. No problems with GPU temps. The new fancy cooling system on the SE might be strong enough to keep it cool.

      It has not failed me once for now. I often have two games running at the same time (one being just idle/incremental, but still). Also, in one game (Soulstone Survivors) I could go farther than most other players did - the game had performance issues the deeper you went due to the increasing number of enemies, bullets and effects, so yeah, I definitely felt it is above average laptop.
      It's portable enough for me and being able to take this powerhouse with me when visiting parents or in-laws is really great. Though I had to get new backpack, cause my previous laptop was only 15.6''.
      For now it's still the best screen I have in house, so I enjoy watching tv shows and movies on. Might not be 4k, but still big difference to old FHD.

    This device is certainly really cool a lot of nice features inside it. But on the other hand you can see in the opened shots that there is a lot of unused space inside the device, especially around the battery. Since the battery run time isn´t the best, why didn´t they use this real estate to put in a larger 100wh battery? Or better speakers, more thermal headroom? This device isn´t cheap so anyone buying is expecting the best of the best, this seriously doesn´t feel like it.

      @vik1ng313 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I hate the fact that vapor chamber cooling is only available on the highest end model i9 + 3080Ti. I'm personally looking for a i7 + 3070Ti (since it will be easier to cool and comes close to 3080 performance without the $) but lack of better thermal options means that the i7 won't be running at its best (at rated speed of 4.7Ghz, or close to it). Or simply just for running components cooler.

    • @FullyChargedSRG
      @FullyChargedSRG ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Heliosvector This device has a 90 watt hour battery, by saying a 100wh I assume Luka is rounding up the 99.9 and questioning why Asus didn't put in the biggest battery they could if the Scar is being branded as the best of the best. There are now a few different laptops that do have 99.9wh batteries which are top of the line, yet this doesn't have one. The original comment's point is that this device has a lot of minor compromises compared to other top spec devices that while they don't sound like much, added together will slightly tarnish the end user experience, compared to a different top end laptop. when it's a 4 grand device, it really shouldn't have any of these drawbacks.

    I just bought one for 119990 THB or around 3300 USD.
    The lack of gaming laptop options in my country with RTX 3080/Ti forced me down to either go with ginormous Titan GT77 or a very large Scar 17 SE.
    That gutsy salesman actually gave me good discount on Scar 17 SE so it costed pretty much the same as top specs Scar 15.
    And yes I did get one with 1440p 240 Hz screen like Jarrod recommended.
    Can't wait to see how well this thing do on Emulation!

      First, he gets weird samples, almost all SE in every country is sold with 1440p screen and he has a 1080p. Second good thing we still have good old ips, all mini led laptops are all PWM, and it's a bad thing, even if you are not sensitive to PWM it can still cause eye health issue such as dry eys in long run. I fully agree this laptop needs more port though, AT LEAST 1 more USB A.

I have one of the first Zephyrus M's (GM501) i7-8750H/GTX-1060 , it's a great notebook (one of the first with a MUX). A beautiful 144Hz 1080p G-sync IPS display is mostly wasted on the 1060 with AAA games, Be nice to be able to use the display natively on current gen hardware.
