Hi buddy, I bought the same laptop, I installed a fresh win 11 and now overclocking tab is missing in armory crate, I searched and found out I need some files called esupport, can u please send me yours?
I got this laptop at the beginning of May this review was long overdo. :) That said I do not have the same hinge issues on my unit. I ended up swapping the memory to a 64GB crucial kit and replacing the two 1TB M.2 with 2TB Samsung 980 Pros in raid 0. Couldnt be happier.
That’s a good move. Did you have to clone the SSD with system info to a Slot that has one of the 980 pros put in before inserting both 980 pros? I wanna get this laptop kind of sort of already purchased it but i wanna max it out on the storage and Mem too
@@fabc9841 I ended up using a desktop PC with Acronis to clone the OS 2TB raid 0 pairing onto the 4TB 980 pro m.2 pairing and it worked flawlessly. Did a factory "reset" on the new pairing and its like it came that way from ASUS.
@@Rs8tails I see man. Is Acronis like Macrium? I ask because i have recently cloned my 256 SSD to a 2TB SSD from my now old Predator 17 that way. However had to get a Omicrom SSD holder to do it which thankfully ended up working but then the Omicron SSD case just stopped working so I retuned it. See I thought I would just take out one of the 1TB SSDs that doesnt have the OS and C drive out of the Strix which is arriving soon and then insert the Samsung 980 pro to then clone it ? I really wish the Strix SE came with a Third Nvme SSD slot like my Titan GT 76. I want to do what you did on ur Strix SE sby starting with upgrading both 1tb ssds to 980 pros and i hope i can do it like i just told u 😅
I dont think you can do it that way because the preinstalled OS comes 50/50 on both of the M.2 since its in raid 0 configuration. You could either clone both of those raid 0 onto a single 2TB M.2 or if you wanted raid 0 it would also already need to be paired through the BIOS. I havent used Macrium. You could probably do the cloning with a M.2 PCIE addin card on a desktop but my motherboard supports ASUS ROG DIMM M.2 Module so I can have 5 SSD on my motherboard.
@@Rs8tails That is unnecessary🤔 why would they equally distribute the O/S on both 1tb SSDs. I am not very familiar with what Raid 0 means and all that but i guess its a memory configuration?Anyway what u said concerns me because it doesn’t sound like ill just be able to add in the 980 into the slot where the O/S isn’t installed to do a clone. So i would have to purchase another SSD external enclosure to attempt to transfer the O/S which is needlessly installed 50/50 on both 1TB SSDs to the 980 pro. Which sucks. I might just return the Strix SE and get the Titan Gt 77 which has much better upgrade options

When will the detailed Lenovo Legion 7 Gen 7 review arrive?
My favorite laptop, I already watched all youtube video about the rog strix scar 17 SE . I liked your video (even if I sometimes have a feeling of déjà vu)
I think that really good game for testing cpus is "squad"...maybe it's not that popular as other games but it really shows the performance difference between cpus...especially single core performance
I am of a mind that all of these Notebooks with sick displays should have a DP input for when the internal hardware becomes obsolete. I have one of the first Zephyrus M's (GM501) i7-8750H/GTX-1060 , it's a great notebook (one of the first with a MUX). A beautiful 144Hz 1080p G-sync IPS display is mostly wasted on the 1060 with AAA games, Be nice to be able to use the display natively on current gen hardware.
Hey Jarrod - thank you so much for all the incredible work you do. You've helped me navigate my next upgrade. Moving from a 5 year old Surface Book (1) to the XMG Neo 15 E22. I'll probably notice a slight difference 🤣. Just wondering where the XMG Neo 15 lands in these graph comparisons?
@@batmanonholiday4477 its a fantastic laptop absolutely no issue's at all. Because the cooling is really good its not a loud laptop. Alot of games I run in silent mode and you can't hear any fans. More demanding games I run in performance or turbo mode even then its not bad at all as gaming laptops go. It's by far the best laptop I've owned
@@batmanonholiday4477 definitely, it's a way better machine. Its faster then the x17 r2 and cheaper. I have nothing but good things to say about this laptop
Summary: MSI Gt77 performs better in GPU for most results, however this one performs better in CPU However, Titan has more memory / NVMe slots, and is a bit cooler, especially in idle it's a full 20c lower compared to this one, not to mention the mechanical keys (big plus). Pro, this one is cheaper though
I purchased the SE a few months back, and saw the Gt77 as well. It feels comparatively bulky in its design, so the performance being near equal is impressive for the Scar imo. They were both monsters, I was impressed by both of them.
Hey Jarrod, Would love to know what sort of performance you can get out of these machines with a 100w USB C charger attached. Or is the performance the same as if it's on battery?
I just got mine slightly different I got the 1440p one but the USB C charging can only be used for task like google, movies etc. which fucking sucksss !!!
One last thing I would like to see some faster ddr5 ram and see how much of a difference it would make once ddr5 improves and normalizes further. Something like 6400 or higher speeds. Just something interesting for one to know if it's worth it bothering with it at all
6400 will take at least 1-2 years for laptops, I heard they will release 5600hz for next gen laptops. enough for me as I am holding on my 10th gen heating throttling HP envy 15 😖
I feel like I remember the hinges are easily adjusted once you're opened up? I also discovered how even $20-30 Logitech cameras are better than built in solutions.
that chasis is a powerful flex from vjs though, i could also use that flashlight to fast check if some bills are fake or not, but well... neither is for gamers haha
My Strix Scar 17 lid doesn't begin to close itself until much further down, just to note. My touchpad also doesn't have the right side wobble like your demo model has. I'm not sure if this is because yours is a heavily used demo model or not.
hey jarrod, will you be reviewing the 2022 strix g15 or g17? i would love to see your thoughts on their more "budget" strix line. btw i love your vids, they were a major factor in picking out which laptop to get!
I hate when they decided to remove the mechanical keyboard and switch to regular standard rubber dome keyboard. Also if you pay attention carefully, the last year mechanical switch has a lot better lighting, no light leaks i found (like razer keyboard).
Hello Jarrod, nice review. What laptop would you pick? Eluktronics Mech-15 G3R with i7-12700H and 3070ti (External water cooler included) or the Scar 15 with i7-12700H and 3070ti?
Potentially with the AMG CPU GPU combo, it will get around 15% increased performance and if done right, it will be able to run the CPU at full wattage since the eGPU has its own power supply. Also it could potentially run drastically cooler as it only needs to power the CPU
My man’s completely nailed how corny that UV light thing is. Its the sort of thing that would impress a 7 year old. How many 7 year olds out here with 2000+ for a gaming laptop 😆
This is weird.. I ran cinebench and my P cores in the MSI 15" GE67 are at 4.2, then they drop to 4.1 at 95 degrees and stay there. I have just raised ceiling to 98 degrees for throttle which I think is still safe. The processor is a 12800HX. And also just a 15" chassis. OLED screens are incredible and this is the first I have ever seen, but this laptop has a TON of problems which I'll go into in your inevitable coming review. But that said, yeah, Asus power limits must be very low? 3.2ghz is terrible at 89 degrees when I am getting 4.1hghz at 6 degrees more. That's almost an entire ghz more. My CBR20 is 8700, haven't tested R23 yet. That's the highest result I have ever personally had on any PC with CBR20. My previous best was the Legion 7i at 5700. Note, this has double the cores but not double the threads, it has 8 more threads, and the legion 7i can sit at 4.6ghz on all cores all day without a sweat, so I guess that is about right as far as scaling for the MSI 12800HX goes vs the 11800H overclocked. MSI have locked this unlocked processor down, I can't change multipliers or anything which SUCKS.. I would have loved to set to 3.8 to avoid throttle. Whatever! EDIT, oh ok, your 3.2ghz was with GPU loaded too.. You get much better scores when cpu only, will probably kill mine. However! Why do you not show what GHZ you hit with an 100% cpu only load?
Nice gaming laptop, and you get fan control, unlike Legion laptops. However I would go for Msi gs77, because it still plays great and has fingerprint reader and IR camera for Windows hello.
hmm legion has a brighter screen with better colors, contrasts, matters quite a bit for content creation, i'd wait for their updated version and see how they compete with msi and asus. Titans upgradability is a big bonus, but then you can also go for the pc specialist custom made laptops...
Nice. But the nits are still to low. My favorite laptop is the creator z17 but that one getting to hot. 4 month's looking pros en cons and hoping for a little price drop.
The newer 2023 version is even crazier with 16/32 thread Ryzen CPU 🤯 th-cam.com/video/TjvQ1ZezOXY/w-d-xo.html

Hi buddy, I bought the same laptop, I installed a fresh win 11 and now overclocking tab is missing in armory crate, I searched and found out I need some files called esupport, can u please send me yours?
0:31 love the acting, probably rich kid at school.
Is that.... a gaming laptop with ports in the back! What a miracle 😭🙏
Nah, still waiting on the legion 7. That's just a total package for me.
Your assumption is correct about its price: it should match the MSI at USD 4000. It's a little over USD 4000 in Romania right now.
Thank you so much you spend a lot of time to created this video and I finally bought this laptop.👏👏
What do you do for a living?
@@apimpnamedstreetmeat work 12 hours 7 day a week on McDonald's
The "RGB ---> huge performance" joke never dissapoints :P
Legion 7i gen7 i can't wait👌
I would absolutely love to see a full review of the Flow X16 - must absolutely see that one before I decide.
I'm still waiting on asus to send that one
My favorite laptop, I already watched all youtube video about the rog strix scar 17 SE . I liked your video (even if I sometimes have a feeling of déjà vu)
I think that really good game for testing cpus is "squad"...maybe it's not that popular as other games but it really shows the performance difference between cpus...especially single core performance
My office has a black light ambience setting, the laptop would be so bright in there
The lack of g sync is disappointing but as always thanks for the in depth review.
Ooh, using that UV light suddenly on another person's laptop might produce, well.. not the outcome one might have had in mind.
Who the hell busts all over their laptop?
😂
Hey Jarrod - thank you so much for all the incredible work you do. You've helped me navigate my next upgrade. Moving from a 5 year old Surface Book (1) to the XMG Neo 15 E22. I'll probably notice a slight difference 🤣. Just wondering where the XMG Neo 15 lands in these graph comparisons?
haha just a slight difference. The Neo 15 is in the gaming section (11:58), though this is with the Oasis (water cooler)
Love your video's ❤️keep it up and can you make a video on it how to use manual mode in armoury crates software for good performance in game 🙂
great video!
Got mine this morning after watching your review. Early impressions are this a very good machine. 👍
have you encountered any issues so far? how about the noise?
@@batmanonholiday4477 its a fantastic laptop absolutely no issue's at all. Because the cooling is really good its not a loud laptop. Alot of games I run in silent mode and you can't hear any fans. More demanding games I run in performance or turbo mode even then its not bad at all as gaming laptops go. It's by far the best laptop I've owned
@@stephenm6058 glad to hear about this, i think i will go for this one.. top performance for around 1000k + less than alienware hehe
@@batmanonholiday4477 definitely, it's a way better machine. Its faster then the x17 r2 and cheaper. I have nothing but good things to say about this laptop
13:35 It is crazy that the one-year old Strix G15 Advantage Edition still tops the chart. Wow!
Hey Jarrod, good acting, I laughed, keep it up 🤗
I came for the reviews, I stayed for the epic band t-shirts.
Summary: MSI Gt77 performs better in GPU for most results, however this one performs better in CPU
However, Titan has more memory / NVMe slots, and is a bit cooler, especially in idle it's a full 20c lower compared to this one, not to mention the mechanical keys (big plus).
Pro, this one is cheaper though
I purchased the SE a few months back, and saw the Gt77 as well. It feels comparatively bulky in its design, so the performance being near equal is impressive for the Scar imo. They were both monsters, I was impressed by both of them.
Hey Jarrod,
Would love to know what sort of performance you can get out of these machines with a 100w USB C charger attached.
@@zagranzon2464 hz?💀

Jarrod flexing with the UV torch 🤣👍
I feel like I remember the hinges are easily adjusted once you're opened up? I also discovered how even $20-30 Logitech cameras are better than built in solutions.
Screen is the biggest downside. Why 1080p with 3080 ti? It must have been 1440p with 240hz instead.
There is 1440p version. You can check their website.
When are we gona see an automatically openin and closing of a laptop Lid, future Tecs gona be amazing
Where did you get that led HDMI cable?! That s exactly what I need to compliment my gaming set up!
Bro nailed it. This is my new daily driver. Idk if this laptop already available in my country Philippines
for something that big, should be on par with gt77 2022 on upgradeability.
It is way cheaper in USA than in Europe, In the EU is 4400$ in USA is only 3600$ lol. Almost 1000$ difference, it's freaking huge.
Add in windows hello and a webcam and sold! Hopefully when the 40 series comes out that will be the case! Thank you Jarrod!
great vid
that chasis is a powerful flex from vjs though, i could also use that flashlight to fast check if some bills are fake or not, but well... neither is for gamers haha
The uv thing could be cooler if it was a 3M reflective coating instead
Can't wait for the Zen 4 Dragon range laptops like this with 16 cores. Having 5950x performance in a laptop is gonna be insane.
This IS 5950x performance on a laptop. I have a 5950x so I'm not a hater.
Thank you Jarrod for all the effort you do 👍🏻
recently received mine and wow what a laptop
I personally prefer the Titan, the better upgradability and higher personalisation is what i keep wishing from Laptop Manufacturers.
I cant stop lauging at the intro where your shining the UV light... Just can't imagine someone actually doing it in real life. What a gimmik lol
Eluktronics Mech-15 G3R with i7-12700H and 3070ti (External water cooler included) or the Scar 15 with i7-12700H and 3070ti?
no more desktops, THIS is the first time you can genuinely say that.
The biggest hype of this video is that the flow 16 review mist be coming soon!!!
Please show the performance with and without the external GPU
Potentially with the AMG CPU GPU combo, it will get around 15% increased performance and if done right, it will be able to run the CPU at full wattage since the eGPU has its own power supply.
Also it could potentially run drastically cooler as it only needs to power the CPU
Still haven't received the Flow x16 for testing unfortunately.

Is there any ETA?
My man’s completely nailed how corny that UV light thing is. Its the sort of thing that would impress a 7 year old. How many 7 year olds out here with 2000+ for a gaming laptop 😆
Many rich kids out there.
@@blueryxfalls7949 Sure. But enough to market towards whist alienating anyone with self respect?

The hey come look at this cover part was funny
Still love my Legion 5 5800H with 3070 that cost £1200.Think I'll stick with that for a while.
Hey Jarrods, the i9-12950HX is a vPro-compatible CPU so the CPU overclocking ability will be limited. Is this a minor problem or not?
When is the last time you heard somebody OC their laptop CPU? How silly. Its not even a minor problem. Its no problem at all.
I absolutely love the looks
Only one thing is missing here - the 18"(16:10) screen
The UV reacting coating looks awesome
I gotta say that uv light is biggest flex u can do 😂
Nice gaming laptop, and you get fan control, unlike Legion laptops.
The msi is like 1500 dollars more though
Nice. But the nits are still to low.
My favorite laptop is the creator z17 but that one getting to hot. 4 month's looking pros en cons and hoping for a little price drop.
